With three points an absolute necessity, Rickie Lambert starts for Liverpool today as Brendan Rodgers tries to arrest the Reds' alarming slide into mid-table mediocrity.
FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson, Gerrard, Allen, Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling, Lambert
SUBS: Jones, Toure, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Borini, Markovic
According to the official LFC website:
"LFC can confirm Mario Balotelli is absent due to a groin injury while Jordan Henderson is missing through illness".
With one goal all season, and only one assists since September, Henderson won't be missed that much, so it's a great chance for Lallana to stake a claim to stay in the side.
Alas, given the personnel, it looks like Rodgers will go with a 4231 yet again. Probable formation:
Mignolet
Manquillo --- Skrtel --- Lovren ---- Johnson
------------- Gerrard - Allen
---- Coutinho -- Sterling ----- Lallana
----------------- Lambert
You never know, though - it's possible Rodgers might go with the following:
------------------ Mignolet
Manquillo --- Skrtel --- Lovren ---- Johnson
----------------- Allen
------------ Gerrard - Lallana
---------------- Coutinho
---------- Sterling -- Lambert
My prediction: 2-2

Henderson has 3 assists this season: Southampton, Spurs & West Brom.
ReplyDeleteI want LFC to win so desperately.... I hope this team shocks everyone and wins comfortably. Till the end of Jan 1st, 12 games for LFC on a trot is freakin' scary! LFC should be more imposing...
ReplyDeleteLambert you beauty
ReplyDeleteHow have we scored?
ReplyDeleteAm I dreaming?
ReplyDeleteLambert - Oh NO
ReplyDeleteneed some salt with your words?
ReplyDeletebut I dont blame you for your prediction
ReplyDeleteBesides the goal, we look so unbalanced.
ReplyDeleteDo not know WTF to do with the ball.
Typical
ReplyDeleteThat was so bad
ReplyDeleteOnly a matter of time before Johnson, Skrtel and Johnson struck again!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest it's what we deserved we are awful
ReplyDeleteSkrtel and lovren 1st choice my f****** arse.
ReplyDeleteIs sahko still injured
ReplyDeleteThey will play against Ludogrets
ReplyDeleteDoes it really matter when Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Rodgers are best mates?
ReplyDeleteI'm happy he is trying Lallana and Coutinho in the same team
ReplyDeleteWhere was Gerrard? Wat kind of defensive midfielder is he?
ReplyDeleteWhat does it matter when he is playing johnson sorted and lovren
ReplyDeleteWe are absolutely clueless. Clearly Balotelli ain't the problem at the moment.
ReplyDeleteCan somebody tell what the fuck gerrard is doing apart from nothing
ReplyDeleteMignoiet saving our arse again.
ReplyDeleteOnly we can make Palace look this good
ReplyDeleteJust wait until somebody puts a high slow ball
ReplyDeletedo we have a midfield
ReplyDeleteMidfield... midfield.. nope doesn't ring a bell
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't believe we need a new keeper, any keeper would struggle with this defence in front of them. I do admit there is room for improvement though.
ReplyDeletePeople need to realise Gerrard is the problem too slow and a free passenger
ReplyDeletepalace have us figured out. Cut out Gerrard, put our defence under pressure and it is A for a way.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Skrtel, Lovren, Gerrard and Johnson start again? Clueless manager. Absolutely clueless.
You don't have to cut gerrard out, you just have to leisurely walk past him
ReplyDeleteWTF is the purpose of Sterling in this match? Lambert nowhere to be found after the first goal.
ReplyDeleteF****** mess.
Stirling looks tired, shame we don't have a pacey talented 20 mil player who could play up front with lambert.... hang on
ReplyDeleteEven Warnock has Rodgers number
ReplyDeleteMate, zippy george and bungle have the measure of br
ReplyDeleteMarkovic? In fact, i would bring on Borini and Markovic. Pace is clearly lacking up front.
ReplyDeleteLambert has done bugger all since the first minute.
We look like a f******* league one team.
ReplyDeleteBloody hell we are utterly useless
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit harsh, I think league 1 teams would be doing a better job.
ReplyDeleteWhy play a player that you paid 20 mil for and another player who will run his b******* off
ReplyDeleteI note you didn't comment when Liverpool scored, but have had seven moans since, you'd be better not watching maybe ....
ReplyDeleteI have said it time and time again. Does not matter which keeper you want to bring in. He is a sitting duck behind this defence.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has that figured Gerrard needs to be dropped what has he done in 45 mins?
ReplyDeleteWhat did you want me to say about the opening goal. look at the entire first half. We are clueless.
ReplyDeleteWhat should happen
ReplyDeleteMoreno for Johnson
Can for Allen
Borini for Coutinho
What is going to happen - We all know
Did Sterling forget how to pass the ball
ReplyDeleteLambert has gotten on the end of a couple of things. No one sores everything. Sterling has been poor. Doesn't quite know the role perhaps.
ReplyDeleteSub Gerrad
ReplyDeleteI think Lambert has been good. He has awareness unlike others. Him and Lallana and even Allen have been decent. Manquillo looked solid. Others- the less the said the better.
ReplyDelete...except to pass it backwards of course. It is infuriating to watch. CP dares...they take chances they mark a man when LFC has the ball. They press. We stand. If something doesn't change the outcome of this match is predictable.
ReplyDeleteHe is not getting the ball much at all. We are intent to play it around the back instead of getting it up. Borini would have done no better.
ReplyDeleteThe goal was scored in the opening minutes. What else have we done? Balance of the team completely wrong. Defence up to sh!te. Rodgers persists.
ReplyDeleteGoing to cost him his job.
It's not the pace that's lacking. It's the attacking attitude that's lacking. We have pace, we just don't have any killer instinct.
ReplyDeleteYet Balotelli is being blamed for not getting into the box?
ReplyDeleteThink we should put in a 10m bid for Boalsie in Jan the guy is good instead of wasting it on potential
ReplyDeleteSkrtel and Lovren were a nightmare for that goal. Skrtel not knowing what to do which led them to get the ball and play it around and Lovren for when they actually attacked having the worst body position he could have had.
ReplyDeleteAllen has been one of our better performers.
ReplyDeleteJohnson takes atleast 30 secs to make the pass
ReplyDeleteActually yeah- Can for Gerrard then
ReplyDeleteIs he playing?
ReplyDeleteborini for sterling
ReplyDeletecan for gerrard
toure for gerrard
an moreno for gerrard
an u know what will happen
we will win the game.......!!!!!
Agree on the defence but Lambert can't do much without the ball getting played to him. His movement has been good and has had a couple of headed chances.
ReplyDeleteCan for Gerrad
ReplyDeleteJeez, you're determined to make things sound as bad as possible, aren't you? You're so transparent - you have an agenda, so your goal is to make everything seem as apocalyptic as possible, which means you ridiculously exaggerate every negative aspect of the game.
ReplyDeleteYeah I would go for that maybe.
ReplyDeleteBolasie is gonna tear our defense a new one
ReplyDeleteMy mum could do better then gerrard and she has just had her hip done
ReplyDeletemoreno for johnson sorry
ReplyDeleteLambert scored his first chance. Balo has missed his. Lambert has gotten in the box more than Ballotelli does.
ReplyDeleteEnough is enough BR has made our team a big joke
ReplyDeleteAnd we have played well? Sorry but clearly I see things differently. We are so far behind the performances of last season it has become and absolute joke.
ReplyDeleteSorry Jamie but logan is right. We have been truly awful
ReplyDeleteHave you not been calling for the diamond though?
ReplyDeleteIt's 1-1, not 0-3 - you are trying to make things sound as negative as possible with your constant exaggeration. You clearly have zero capacity to be constructive or fair.
ReplyDeleteDiamond or no diamond - if you have Skrtel, Lovren and Johnson in your defense, you are calling for trouble.
ReplyDeleteSlow from the back, too easily pressured out of possession, poor passes in the forward third and lots of dead end runs. Defensively not worth commenting on ... Palace deserve a goal from that half. Borini could take off Sterling, go to the right, and Markovic might have some joy down the left. It has to come down the wings but somehow it's still being directed down the middle and just not working. Jedinak just muscles and kicks people off the ball, sometimes gives away fouls but most of the time gets away with it. It's actually a bit rough and ready from Palace, they're getting away with a lot, but that's how it is in this league.
ReplyDeleteWe do not even know how to make that work at the moment. Nobody knows WTF to do with the ball. Open your eyes.
ReplyDeleteThat is true.
ReplyDeleteI was actually going to suggest that one. Can is a similar player to Gerrard except actually has some mobility and has potential to develop into a great player and is probably better than Gerrard now.
ReplyDeleteJamie are you watching the game.. can you honestly say you believe with the way we are playing we are going to win.
ReplyDeleteand Gerrard as DM
ReplyDeletePATHETIC - We cant keep a clean sheet under B R - NEVER - we are getting WORSE
ReplyDelete0-3 would be good. 3-0 wouldn't though.
ReplyDeleteThat's not the point. It's not as bad as Logan is making out, with his constant 'the world is ending' posts.
ReplyDeleteid like to see can for gerrard and borini for allen ...play 2 up front ffs!!!!
ReplyDeleteCommon Jaimie. Do you see us finishing 4th with the way we are playing against a team that is one place above relegation? Get real mate.
ReplyDeleteNot gonna happen
ReplyDeleteWe are being outmuscled in midfield by Ledley and Jedinak now. We have the perfect weapon to counter that but of course - Rodgers is never going to do it.
ReplyDeleteBrendan is riding the back of senior players to protect himself from the sack at the cost of liverpoolfc... poor loser like tactics...
ReplyDeleteeverybody can see.. gerrard, johnson and lovren are all worthy of drop...and he is blind.. twat
now that I have said that SG will score a cracker free kick
ReplyDeleteNot as bad.. seriously?
ReplyDeleteWe are bloody awful. On top of that from what we have seen so far this season what makes you think we can win this
We are so slow up front. What a joke.
ReplyDeleteStraight away we look awful
ReplyDeleteWhere LFC will finish in May is irrelevant right now. Your constant hysterical posts about how badly things are allegedly going just illustrates your inability to analyse things in a fair, moderate manner (IMO)
ReplyDeleteFor the first timre I now agree B R must go = this is not Liverpool = he insists on playing this crap system and I almost want Palace to put another 3 past us to end this era for good
ReplyDeleteSterling is playing up front.
ReplyDeleteWow just when you think johnson couldn't get any worse
ReplyDeleteYeah he'll score a free kick as he can't contribute anything in open play.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but it's literally not as bad as some of the more ridiculously overwrought posts suggest. It's 1-1, which means the game is still in the balance. Palace haven't had that many clear-cut chances, and if the defence is as bad you Logan et al make out (in this game) then LFC would've conceded 4 goals by now. The fact it's only one goal conceded means that the defence is, for the most part, doing its job.
ReplyDeleteAt least somebody agrees with me :-)
ReplyDeleteWhere?
ReplyDeleteHe's the guy who gets the ball and runs into about 3 players and loses it.
ReplyDeleteUp front. Diamond Lambert and Sterling.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is we will see but from the evidence so far this season and from the first half if i was a betting man I go with palace winning this game
ReplyDeleteWhere is STEVIE G ????????/
ReplyDeleteWho?
ReplyDeleteWatching the world go past
ReplyDeleteSterling is busy covering for Johnson. Are you blind?
ReplyDeleteAlthough by first looks shape seems to have changed in this half.
ReplyDeleteI can see mate you may need to give it a go yourself.
ReplyDeleteIf a goalkeeper is forced to make a save you've already made a mistake. Last line of defence.
ReplyDeleteWhere is any player? We are that rubbish.
ReplyDeleteWe just go to panic stations as soon as palace go on the counter
ReplyDeleteIn other news atleast Hamilton is winning the Formula 1 and just lapped Robbery.
ReplyDeleteDrop Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson and Gerrard ASAP!
ReplyDeleteHamilton WC let's sign him
ReplyDeleteProbably better than half of our players.
ReplyDeleteCoutinho is our only hope of a goal or a penalty - Stevie G is so slow -
ReplyDeleteSteve G is 30% if the problem for our defense!!!
ReplyDeleteBring on Borini and Markovic. just try something to win the bloody game. It is going nowhere at the moment.
ReplyDeletemarkovic on for allen
ReplyDeletecan on for gerrard
Scott Dann making our defenders look like chumps. It is a terrible state of affairs.
ReplyDeleteI disagree Gerrard needs to go off!! Way too slow
ReplyDeleteI don't get why BR doesn't use the team we used against Madrid. Probably our best performance(apart from Tottenham) of the season.
ReplyDeleteThat would mean dropping his best mates
ReplyDeletedraws not the worst result here
ReplyDeleteselhurts park is a tough place to go
Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Gerrard of course.
ReplyDeleteIn a nut she'll, it doesn't suit your agenda to comment on 'a positive' you constantly moan and moan without giving any constructive opinion of what should happen. We all know the problems, without your constant doomsday moaning. BR is going nowhere right now ....
ReplyDeleteAfter we have lost 3 in a row and the way we are playing in this match? Get over yourself please.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind using Sorted Lovren so much. It's more Gerrard and Johnson.
ReplyDeletewhen are we gonna change things gee!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJedinak is not a gentle type.
ReplyDeleteBR OUT BR OUT
ReplyDeleteWASTED MILLIONS
Fanis Borini is coming on.
ReplyDeleteTick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock...
ReplyDeletePlaying like this we will be in a relegation fight - so slow
ReplyDeleteIf we lose this and lose on wed I hope that's game over for Rogers. This is the worst crock of shit mediocre team been put together for over a 120mill!!!!. Wow fsg must be well happy.
ReplyDeleteLambert still on the pitch and has done nothing since the first minute. We are going to score for sure :-o
ReplyDeleteAnd some think FSG are going to spend more money this season.
ReplyDeleteRose tinted glasses.
I will buy a Borini shirt if he scores and we win.
ReplyDeletethe thing is if tehy dont they might get relegated a defenite possability
ReplyDeleteif liverpool get relegated we lsoe all our tv money
wour club loses its value
in buisness you cannot greive you take desicive action
Why did we get rid of Martin Kelly?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing injury prone?
ReplyDeletepointless question he was poor last season
ReplyDeleteyou are liek teh people who say why did we sell shelvy
they werent good here
we are simply not good enough
ReplyDeleteCripes Manquillo. Doesn't anyone on this team have a left foot?
ReplyDeleteKick a ball*
ReplyDeleteHe is playing now is he not? 9 matches this season.
ReplyDeleteAnd there it is
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine the excuses from BR after the match. OMG.
ReplyDeletehahahahahhaha
ReplyDeleteChampionship Manager
ReplyDeleteI disagree with the Shelves part. Shelves wasn't really given a chance except on the Europa League which he was one of our better players.
ReplyDeleteI can't watch anymore.
ReplyDeleteI think BR is on his way
ReplyDeleteHe was forever injured when he was player for Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteWe are pathetic.
ReplyDeleteWho would hire him
ReplyDeletePathetic is better than us
ReplyDeletei'm gonna have a lie down. Wake me up in May.
ReplyDeleteWhat you have to say now Jaimie. Am I overreacting?
ReplyDeleteRafa Benitez anfield is calling you.
ReplyDeleteWe won't get relegated with a decent manager. Rodgers needs to go, regardless of result. We're not playing like a top team and he is solely to blame. I didn't want to believe that SAS carried us last term, but it's there for all to see. A nice guy and will be a decent manager as he is now, but we need a proven winner to raise the performance levels of these guys.
ReplyDeleteRodgers needs to go along with grandad Gerrard they both can enjoy LA Galaxy fc
ReplyDeleteYou may not like what you see when you wake up.
ReplyDeletebye bye brendan
ReplyDeleteGo away now Rodgers FSG do it
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahaha 230m spent BODGERS
ReplyDeleteWhat a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteBR OUT
ReplyDeleteLovren is going to get Rodgers the sack.
ReplyDeleteWhat on earth is going on?????
ReplyDeleteBring Rafa now!!!!
ReplyDeleteRodgers is gonna get his own sack
ReplyDeleteRodgers is the cause of this. Bit lame blaming the new signings.
ReplyDeleteNo No No.
ReplyDeleteIt's not lovren fault it's Gerrard keeps exposing our defense bring Rafa now
ReplyDelete120mil spent and nothing to show no strikers nothing im sure he will be gone
ReplyDeleteBrought on Can, took off the wrong play IMO.
ReplyDeleteSurely BR is gone now
ReplyDeleteI think Bob means May 2018
ReplyDeleteim not looking for scapegoats anymore
ReplyDeletethe problem is a million percent rodgers
I stand by what I said. League 1 I'm thinking.
ReplyDeleteYes, you were overreacting in the first half.
ReplyDeleteIts weird but am cheering for palace. One team is playing with lot of heart and other keeps getting worse. Last couple of months we have played football similar to roy era...if not worse.
ReplyDeleteSame here
ReplyDeleteWe weren't conceding as much in the Hodgson era.
ReplyDeleteJamie your being as stubborn as BR.
ReplyDeletethe players just dont trust in BR
ReplyDeleteits got nothing to do with heart
ReplyDeletei ahte that line
its all managemnet
rodgers mistakes are so obvious
3 rd division
ReplyDeleteSo.. what's the betting that BR says we played well and he is happy with effort blah blah blah
ReplyDeleteI think BR will step down after this game
ReplyDeleteTo home
ReplyDeleteThe only solution right now is to bring in an experienced manager till the end of the season. Hiddink for me and then bring in Frank de Boer at the start of next season along with Johan Cruyff as director of football.
ReplyDeleteRodgers at a dead end now. Time to go.
Not a chance. He only leave if he is sacked and even then he will blame everybody else except himself
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I would take the chuckle brothers over BR
ReplyDeleteI think rafa will come now
ReplyDeletePulis till summer would do but only if BR doesn't turn around by January.
ReplyDeleteYou are in dreamland.
ReplyDelete
