After a massively underwhelming first season, it will come as no surprise if Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas leave Anfield this summer. The Spanish duo have struggled to make an impact at the club, and reports today suggest that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will dispense with both players over the next couple of months.
According to the Liverpool Echo:
"The Reds spent around £14m on two players they felt could improve things.
"Both were talked up but, neither Iago Aspas nor Luis Alberto have had the desired effect.
"Both, in fact, could leave the club this summer".
I can't think of a single reason why Liverpool should keep Aspas and Alberto. It could be argued that they have a role to play as squad players, but loan-returnees Fabio Borini and Suso are superior, ready-made replacements.
Furthermore, Jordon Ibe and Joao Teixeira are also waiting in the wings, and I'm sure many fans will be happy to see Aspas and Alberto jettisoned in favour of promoting these exciting youngsters to the first team.
Aspas and Alberto rarely played in their debut season, so what is going to change next year? I've argued for months that both players were/are a waste of money, and there are very few fans of sound mind who can now argue that the Reds got value for money.
The question is, how much cash can Liverpool claw back? Unless there's some kind of miracle, it's going to be yet another loss in the transfer market, and in my view, Liverpool will be lucky to claw back £8m-£10m for Aspas and Alberto.
Aspas already seems resigned to a move away. In April, he told reporters:
"I'm not 20 years old anymore, I can't go on loan and explode. The best would be to transfer to another club. This is the hardest part. I used to play almost all the matches and I arrived here playing much less."
As for Alberto - his first season is a far cry from the gross overhype peddled last summer; like this, for example:
I know I've made this point a million times, but Rodgers could've just kept Borini and Suso last summer, and saved the club £14m. Having said that, with his record in the transfer market, he probably would've wasted that cash on a couple of other duff players.
Can anyone** construct a credible argument for keeping Alberto and Aspas? I personally don't have a problem with Alberto staying, but it's probably better for his career if he moves on to get regular first-team football.

Luis Alberto (Barcelona B) is the other Spanish player that is about to agree to join Liverpool. A midfielder in the Xavi/Iniesta mould

No.
ReplyDeleteJaime , your hate for rodgers is damn annoying. No manager ever has a 100% transfer record, everyone buys duds now and again! Mou does it, rafa certainly did it... BR has taken our team from midtable fukin obscurity under hogdson and, sadly, kenny to 2nd and campions league where we belong, give the man a fuckin break !
ReplyDeleteI never understand people with your mentality. Just because of what he's done you think he's immune to criticism? And Jamies point about transfers is a very valid one, one two of his signings could actually be considered definite successes, that leaves a lot to be desired.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree that Rodgers sould've kept Suso and Borini insted of buying Alberto and Aspas, though when given a chance Alberto showed a lot of promise, at least as much as Suso(and better that Moses), he showed vision and had a good pass succes rate for an attacking midfielder(85%). I don't know why our manager gave Moses more chances than Alberto when most of the time he looked lost, so if he goes I would rather see him go on loan to a PL club(as Borini did), to get some regular playing time and confidence. I don't think it's sensible to jettison a promising 21 year old, he'll probably go on loan.
ReplyDeleteAspas was clearly a waste of money when compared to Borini, but how would Borini have fared if he was given the same chances, exactly the same.
The loan deals for Borini and Suso where reasonably succesfull, but there was no need to buy any replacements, if necesary both could have been recalled from their loans.
Not so much immune but its the same thing over and ever about the same few players,... we get it they are crap and didn't cut it, theres no need to keep going on about it. Alberto I think will stay Aspas not
ReplyDeletealberto is great, he just needs half a chance. no idea why moses got more time than he did.
ReplyDeleteIf we had kept Borini and Suso would they have played more than Aspas and Alberto? I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteFact is those players went on loan and improved playing regular first team football. It cost us £14 mil, but I'm sure £7 mil a piece could be added to their value because of their improvement.
They'll get time to play this season as we have more games. Alberto and Aspas kept the rest of the squad on their toes so its not big loss considering how we improved. Now Borini and Suso can return as better players and closer to what we expect them to be - useful squad members with confidence
Never got to watch Luis Alberto play much, he was not given enough opportunities. In those cameo appearances he came on, he showed good touch and passes, and calmness on the ball. We should keep him for another season and give him a chance to start in cup matches. Let us not make another mistake like Aquilani where we never gave him the opportunity to show his true capabilities.
ReplyDeleteYou really are a dick-head Kanwar.
ReplyDeleteYes there is! £14mill spent on two players whom you never trusted to give any game time!? Doesn't make sense. Where was the due diligence before we signed them?
ReplyDeleteBearing in mind only Coutinho & Studge have been successful confidence in this summers activities leave a lot to be desired. I hope Emre Can doesn't flop like Sahin because he was bought to help sure up our midfield.
Whilst I also understand the element of risk involved, but these low to medium cost signings that BR likes will never inspire confidence.
Sanchez has agreed personal terms with juve. Barca want £20 mill. What the hell? I give up!!!!
ReplyDeleteSami hyypia has taken over at Brighton.
ReplyDeleteThey are very good IMO at spotting new manager. This will be interesting.
Neither of these 2 players got much of a chance. But I'd be surprised if they set the world on fire after they leave.
Moses always has a smug expression on his face that suggests he knows something you don't. Rodgers probably thought playing him was the only way to find out.
ReplyDeleteNo,adios amigos.
ReplyDeleteYes a complete waste of time and money. That's what we now know about him.
ReplyDeleteAspas can develop his corner taking ability elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteNot going to defend Rodgers transfer record, it's full of mistakes but how often has he been given the money to go beyond the low to medium cost signings? Sakho hasn't convinced, Allen hasn't done anything, Borini was a flop and one season on loan at Sunderland doesn't alter the fact that if he was decent in his first season he would not have been loaned out. So is our successful season down to good coaching or Rafa and Zkenny signings coming good?
ReplyDeleteThey just want to buy cheap, just like the Lallana deal, so worried to pay an extra 5 Mil, well sell some of the duds you have, Lucas and Aspas and Alberto and Johnson, always about a good deal? but to get quality you need to take a risk and overpay sometimes !!
ReplyDeleteNot everybody wants to come to LFC, and I think Juventus tried to get him before LFC, besides that his buddy plays there.
ReplyDeletebu bu man you are right,, niall o reilly it isn't about being above criticism,,Jamie constanty goes on about this in the majority of posts relating to transfer spending which is just supid,, we weren't in Europe and these payers are not bad players at all,, they just had great playes ahead of them in peckin order,,we didn't pay a fortune for them,,and rogers did the best with the little money he had,,our net spend was only around 4 mil last summer,, rogers most expensive player has only been 15mil,in todays climate with all the money that has flooded into football in the last couple of years. rogers is working within the constraints put on him,,this summer looks like the first he'll be backed properly.
ReplyDeletethey came good due to rogers,,rafa had five years with about 30+dud signings and we never played football the way rogers has got us playing week in week out,,i hope they do a poll and see who the majority Liverpool supporters want rafa or rogers,, I backed the guy from the very start so sit back and enjoy what Liverpool are about to become over the next few years
ReplyDeleteyou have Johnson in that dream team,,, oh gosh you let yourself down badly there,, its a pity cus you were doing so well,
ReplyDeleteI can't see a future for Aspas now that Lambert is here. I will guess that Rodgers will keep Borini instead as the fourth striker and that's a pretty good squad of scorers to have. Aspas probably just took too long to adapt to what was required of him and although he's obviously a decent player there is no point trying to extract something from him now. He's served whatever purpose he needed to at the club.
ReplyDeleteAlberto can go on loan, I think it would be madness to just up and sell him now. He won't have retained any value this past season so best thing will be to send him away and hope he finds some form with another club. Then Rodgers can make another decision on him next summer.
Rodgers will have to decide on Suso now. I don't think there is any more waiting around for him to reach his potential. If he's not good enough now to deserve a place on the bench then he should be sold. If we buy an attacking player he's going to be far down the list, behind Sterling and Coutinho and in terms of pushing for a spot in the team. I can't see him overtaking any of those guys, although maybe Rodgers will give him a chance to challenge for a spot. It wouldn't be a bad thing to have him in the squad but he would really have to step up to that next level and prove that he belongs in the team.
What is it with this site? What a crap author/creator. I agree Aspas and Alberto are worthless but EVERY single article criticizes BR or the player supposedly signed. If BR signed Messi this website would find something to complain about. I understand being objective but on every single article? Bit much. Of coarse if you disagree with the author you get labelled by Jamie as a BR lover and can't accept criticism(Logan knows). What a joke. Must suck going through life always finding faults with everything. I'm ashamed I support the same club as this clown Jamie. Wish she'd support Chelsea or something.
ReplyDeleteI suspect if we sign shaquiri then the Lallana deal is dead. All this speculation might just be to force Southampton's hand however shaquiri maybe makes more sense. He's a top player, the only reason he hasn't had more games at bayern is because he has the unenviable task of trying to dislodge robben or ribery from the team.
ReplyDeleteAs far as him being able to play in the premier league goes, he's seriously quick, powerful, enjoys a physical battle and has a fierce shot. Seems to tick all the boxes. At 10 mil cheaper and 4 years younger than Lallana I think I'd rather have shaquiri
Yeah and after a hard day of training, Raheem and company can head to the massage room where your mum would be in attendance.
ReplyDeleteFor all LFC fans, let's hope B.R transfers for the up coming season are of quality.Because seriously what did he ever see in Aspas,Alberto, and add in Moses when he should of gone for Luklau, and Cissocco.
ReplyDeleteDarren fletcher's running was absolutely vital in that team to allow Paul scholes to loiter around the centre circle dictating play much like hendo and gerrard do for us now. Like gano1 said, you're being silly
ReplyDeleteFor all you darn posters, the name is JAIMIE. JAIMIE. JAIMIE. I hope you finally get it right, ma ma boy, oops... I mean bu bu man.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am with you on that one because we're trying to get a hybrid of BVB and BM as far as I can make out but just need players with more skill and experience for that to work.
ReplyDeleteI agree that I also don't see the point of having an article on this every week but at the end of the day it's JK's site and he posts whatever he pleases. What makes just as little sense though is comparing Emre Can to Sahin only because he's also German of Turkish heritage. The same goes for doubting transfers just because the fee is low. We paid only 10 million for Xabi Alonso too and 12 million for Sturridge which is not a lot of money for a striker. On the flip side 35 million for Carrol and 20 million for Downing gave us no value for money what so ever. Why pay over the odds if you don't need to? A combined outlay of not even 15 million on Can and Lambert makes that we can spend big elsewhere if we need to. With, for example, 18 million on a left back or 15 million for Shaqiri.
ReplyDeleteHave u seen Shaqiri play? He is better in set pieces( in which we are already very strong) and he is not as good as lallana in open play. His link up and awareness on pitch is also not top draw. But this left foot is lethal. 15m would be a good deal. But Ideally i would go for Sanchez.
ReplyDeletePlayers don't turn crap overnight and they also don't "come good" overnight either. As with every job, it's about the manager giving the right instructions and motivating them. Gerrard has come out and said as much himself.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Luke Shaw he's the toughest player he's come up against. Which makes me hope Shaw will sign for Man U sooner rather than later :-)
ReplyDeleteHow did Suso and Borini improve? What is that based on?
ReplyDeleteI still wonder why Poyet had to leave so out of the blue there. They never really gave a reason
ReplyDeletei would loaned out alberto than selling him...aspas no idea..
ReplyDeleteIf we paid 25 million for Lallana, a 27 year old with one good season at the highest level behind him, and he would flop this forum would be on fire. It's fine talking about taking a 25 million pound risk if it's not you who has to make sure the club is financially sound. People talk as if it's monopoly money sometimes. Lallana has done nothing, nothing, to warrant such a high price tag. The only reason Southampton keep moving the goalposts is because they want to get as much out of the deal as possible and they don't want to pay for their own mistake of putting a clause in the contract with Bournemouth with no expiration date. If someone else wants to get robbed by them and pay 10 million more than what Lallana is worth they're more than welcome to him. People talk as if it's frigging Zidane we'd be missing out on.
ReplyDeleteThe Can vs Sahin comparison was not based on the German -Turkish thing rather the fact that they both play in midfield (esp Can various positions) & whether we would get the best out of them by finding their best position!
ReplyDeleteOf course high end spending doesn't guarantee success but it's clear we hardly buy proven quality which inevitably cost more. I hope this will change over time once we re-establish ourselves in CL!
Everton have already turned down a bid of £50 million from Manchester utd.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, nice one Jaimie.
ReplyDeleteAs you can see by the comments, many people would still like to see Luis Alberto succeed whereas you are hellbent to see him leave the club otherwise you would not be making your point in almost every article you write and also not call him a waste which you have done on many occasions.
Aspas came to Anfield on the back of a very good season in Spain and it has not worked out for him. This is not the first time something like this has happened.
As for Borini who you have also called a waste before, Sunderland and other clubs are most probably interested in him but I believe Rodgers will have him as part of the squad this season.
Suso is a difficult one to be honest. Based on who we already have at the club and with more signings to come then I do not see him being part of the squad this coming season and reckon he will go out on loan again. If he does go on loan again then I am hoping it will be at another EPL club. If he does not go out on loan then he will be sold and I base this assumption on the fact that he was being offered as part of the Alberto Moreno deal.
This would never happen. Can't believe there a deluded fans on here that think it could. For one the lad is a blue so if he was going to make a big money move somewhere it would not be across Stanley park. Even if liverpool made an offer everton apparently couldn't refuse imagine the back lash from the everton fans. No way on earth would everton agree to sell their best prospect in over a decade to liverpool. FACT
ReplyDeleteAre you serious? 100% deluded
ReplyDeleteSelling Johnson will prove to be very difficult especially with the wages he is on. I can see him staying on till his contract runs out in 2015. He might then leave for nothing but at least we will not have to pay him out.
ReplyDeleteOnce the name starts with S, surely will be a good signing for liverpool. Suarez , Sterling, Sturridge so either shaqiri or sanchez will be a good signing too.
ReplyDeleteDefinately on same wavelength as we want real class quality players at our club who will make us push on again. I Rakitic(26) has not been signed yet. So B Rodgers should do all he can to bring him to us instead. When he signs for Barcelona then its done, at moment they haven't put in bid yet. They are contemplating bid in, but they want Koke(21) Of A Madrid also. How does that work? Both players will be wasted on Barcelona bench as Busquets, Xavi and iniesta are the main stay in centre midfield in that side. If they are all fully fit and injury free they start they play, so I Rakitic(26) and Koke(21) should think at the class quality midfielders who have gone there in last three seasons and not got a real sniff in middle of park due to those three.
ReplyDeleteAnd the front 2 are set Messi and Neymar, one more place available and Rakitic(26) and Koke(21|) do not have blistering pace or speed so they will not suit the front three forward line at Barcelona.
B Rodgers should offer £23m As opening bid and descent contract and see what happens at least.
flanagan could be called up if ox faces injury
ReplyDeletei think it would be wise he is a much better option then johnson
Trust me is it only me you and Jamie on here who wants our team to get class quality players? Or what? i have had enough of the Traore, Josemi, Biscan, Jovanovic, Koncheskey, Poulsen, Ngog, Assaidi, Alberto, Aspas, Cissokho, Moses, Sahin, Toure and Yesil type players being brought to the club by different managers. They clear some dead wood average players and bring in new improved average dead wood players, B Rodgers hasn't stopped the cycle yet.
ReplyDeleteSee that's what you get if you listen to what the players want . Clearly they now have too much power they should just be told who to play for. The world has gone mad :-/
ReplyDeleteWell said Jamie, I think out of the 4 players only Suso(20) should be kept.
ReplyDeleteB Rodgers should accept £10-£12M from Sunderland when they come in bidding for F Borini(22) and then that money should be used on bringing in L Remy(27) Of QPR for £8-£10M
And then club would have 4 goal scoring strikers for the course of season and as we will be in 4 competitions we will be well equipped:
B Rodgers will just need to bring two world class players i am hoping and praying and 1 class quality player( Gamble) and 6 Defensive players:
2 Marquee signings should be: For combined total of £58M
1: CM: I Rakitic(26) Of Seville for £25-£32M
2 RW/ RWF: A Sanchez(25) Of Barcelona for £22-£26M
Class quality attacking player( Gamble):
3: LW/ LWF B Arfa(27) Of Newcastle for £5-£8M
6 Defensive players:
1: GK: M Vorm(30) Of Swansea for £3-£5M
2: CB: D Lovren(24) Of Southampton for £10-£16M
3: CB: S Caulker(22) Of Cardiff for £5-£8M
4: RB: S Aurier(21) Of Toulouse for £6-£8M
5: LB: B Davies(20) Of Swansea instead Of A Moreno(21) for £10M less for £5-£7M
6: DM: B Matuidi(26) Of PSG Or Y M'Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan for £8-£10M
I came across this article on an Everton site and as a blue I would bite
ReplyDeleteyour hand off for either Henderson or Allen and I wouldn't even want
any money as we would be getting a vastly superior player in either
case. I would much rather have a player who retains possession for the
team and maintains a high pass complaetion rate than someone who does
something naughty by trying to beat three men and run the risk of losing
the ball. I have a friend working at the world cup who has told me FIFA
have put two some measures in place due to Henderson's likely starting
berth, such as superglue on England fans seats to stop them
simultaneously rising as one in excitement whenever Henderdon receives
the ball so as not to obstruct other fans. They have also sent
anti-diarrohea tablets to all opposition managers to avoid the
embarrassing situation of them soiling themselves upon seeing Hendersons
name on the team-sheet. Genuinely believe we can win the world cup now
that Woy (who will prove to be the best England manager of all time) has
decided to start with Hendo who is a prodigious talent the world has
never seen the like of before!
Emre Can rules out Matuidi & M'Villa. Surely you can scratch these two off your list?
ReplyDeleteAlberto Moreno will rule out Ben Davies so you might have to scratch him of your list as well from now on should the Moreno deal go through which could be as early as next week.
What we will see is your list reducing as the weeks go by. I mean 9 freaking players in your opinion still needs to be added? So that will take our tally including Can and Lambert to 11 new players which Rodgers needs to try and integrate in preseason and as soon as the new season starts = disaster waiting to happen and MAJORITY will agree with me on that.
If Suarez had to leave then there there might be a possibility of Sanchez
.
By the time the transfer window has shut, the only most likely 2 players on your list to possibly join LFC will be either Caulker or Lovren.
Please read the Can/Sahin article properly; the comparison has absolutely nothing to do with German/Turkish heritage.
ReplyDeletei take on Ross, simply bcoz his size is bigger n tough than our no10....
ReplyDeleteGerrard will still be around for at least another two seasons so signing proven quality will cause problems as proven quality players want regular football and until Gerrard hangs up his boots the deeper role in our midfield will be difficult to wrestle off him. Also for this reason I think Rodgers will keep hold of Lucas as backup to Gerrard should the wheels come off completely.
ReplyDeleteThe way I see it is that Emre Can has been signed on the hope that he will be the one to take over from Gerrard for the deeper role in our midfield. Luckily Can is a very versatile player. Apart from his favoured position Can has played at CB, LB and LW so here is hoping we get a proper glimpse of what Can is made of this coming season.
Aspas is not physically cut out for the PL and he does not know how to make the most of his body to nudge other players like Suarez or even Sterling, he is also about 27 years old and unlikely to be waiting around improving on his shortcoming when he know back in Spain he would be a regular starter for many other than perhaps the top 4 or 5 teams.
ReplyDeleteAlberto seems to too slow, although has some good touches and vision. We already have a legless midfield with Gerrard and Lucas. Alberto is a another player imo has to go.
Perez Banks
ReplyDeleteCouthino v Barkley is a close one. As we have seen what Couthino has done for the reds we know he is effective and has effected our team more than Barkley has for his in my opinion. But really I'd like them both. Go for it LFC.
ReplyDeleteAspas is worth a resale, Alberto is worth keeping for one more season or have him loaned out. Nothing gained, nothing lost though. Selling both has no impact on the team.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pointless comment
ReplyDeleteBarkleys more inconsistent .
ReplyDeleteIts doesnt mean Lallana can adapt to Brendan style asap just like Shaqiri.. u will never know yet.. anyway both player is worth for LFC team guys.. i take Shaqiri ☆☆☆☆☆
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I am wrong, but I don't think Rodgers was that much involved in the transfers before this summer. So he can't be critisized over the transfers mentioned above
ReplyDeleteAin't gonna happen , pointless post even so can't see many top teams clamouring for coutinho . At best you'd get 20mil for him , and as for Lucas/Allen and 15mil utter joke , sturridge/Flanagan and 40 mil maybe a starting point !
ReplyDeletestupid!
ReplyDeleteThey were a gamble, some come off some don't. Move along nothing to see here.
ReplyDeleteHe has recently said on the official LFC website that he has always had the final say on transfers. So he has to take the can (sorry) for past (and possibly present) transfers.
ReplyDeleteWith Alberto he is so young coming to a new league .. he needs some game time so id suggest a loan to another premier league or championship team for the year to get more familiar with the league . i have hope for him . Aspas on the other side although the same approach may work i would offload him in a deal to bring a player from la liga over as he is rated over there
ReplyDeleteOur scouts/transfer committee or whatever you want to call it draw up the list based requirements set out by Rodgers. The scouts go out and find the players based on those requirements and Rodgers will decide who he wants from that list making the final decision his. He will of course also have players of his own in mind added to that list made up by our scouts.
ReplyDeleteSorry Kopites but a died in the wool blue is never going to play for you no matter what ridiculous amount of money you offer....absolutely no chance of him leaving Everton in the near future.....there is more chance of Alex Ferguson managing Liverpool
ReplyDeleteI like your post, but your 'name'.. Why?
ReplyDeleteHe will be replaced in halftime, we will have the bench so it won't hurt us as much. And he'll get better
ReplyDeleteso what ?
ReplyDeletego back playing fifa14 kid. this is not a place for managerial fantasy world. don't write something something stupid and act like u know the transfer market. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteIwould really like to see Lallana in our team, but you have a very good point..
ReplyDeleteThe 11 players out and 11 players in, will be for the whole season as the owners may do the same malarchy of not signing anyone in the January Transfer window.
ReplyDeleteThe 11 players i have said ship out only 2 of them have been descent squad members( J Allen and L Leiva)
The other 9 were basically Non Existant and did not help the squad/club really much this season.
And the players i have said we should bring in this summer will be for the whole course of the season.
B Matuidi(26) and Y M'Vila(23) are both two times better Defensive midfielders than E Can(21)
Apart from Moses, most players under BR are hunger for success and willing to learn! Some may need 2-3 seasons to progress before we can judge them. Anyway, the no. of games will increase next season and we need all these players. Let the talking done on the field, i believe Apas and Alberto will be eager stay to prove their worth!
ReplyDeletewe wre a mid table team with no european football. rodgers had to take a punt on players that had potential to freshen up the squad... this summer will be different jamie, plauers wil want to play for rodgers, we have champions league football and play beautiful football.. proven players will be signed, not players we hope will do well but players like lambert who we know can perform... its ridiculous to judge rodgers and the signings he made last summer as the first ten players on his wish list turned us down coz they felt we werent a big enough club.. i dont know why you are wiping that fact from your memory.... luckily for us you will be proven wrong(about rodgers transfer dealings) over the next few years as players will be dreaming of a move to liverpool to play under him... even you will find it difficult to complain about us soon
ReplyDeleteBarkley has done for more than had a 20.
ReplyDeleteCome off it, Coutinho blows hot and cold. Barkley is in a different league to the Brazilian.
ReplyDeleteHaha,you lie
ReplyDeletewhile jaimies criticism of rodgers transfer dealings is misguided and unsubstantiated and amounts to nothing more than stirring the pot to rile us up, he never signed sterling....Sterling was signed as a 16 year old while kenny and comoli were calling the shots as far as i recall
ReplyDeleteThe chances of you dying increase with every wise arse cracks.
ReplyDeleteactually it was rafa who signed him while kenny ran the youth set up..
ReplyDeleteanother masterstroke from benitez
I take it you're not from Liverpool? Only a fan from outside Liverpool would make such a comment.
ReplyDeleteHer is what I think
ReplyDeleteAspas- sell.
Alberto-loaN
Lukas- sell
Allen- sell or use him to get another player(not likely to happen, so keep)
Suso- return or loan to EPL team with option of return during season.
Borini-same as Suso.
Coates- loan
Kelly, Wisdom- loan one, keep one.
Johnson-keep.
Agger, Skrtel, Sakho- keep.
Already in- Lambert and Can.
Almost in- Moreno.
Bring Lallana, Shaqiri or Markovic.
Introduce Ibe, Texeira and maybe one or two youngsters in preseason and first cup matches, and than loan or keep arround first team.
WIN A TROPHY OR TWO. Maybe all three that matter...
So what will you be proposing when 90% of the players you continuously mention will not be joining LFC once the transfer window has shut?
ReplyDeleteAgree to some point, but still... Had to do batter with 14 mill..
ReplyDeleteEvery bad result will be the consequence of us not bringing those players...
ReplyDeletewe never bought sahin, we got him on loan, he didnt work out we got rid of him and he cost us nothing.. looks like brendan wants to buy can.. if anyone can get the lad playin to his potential its rodgers.. happy days
ReplyDeleteAll 12 of them! Explain to me how Rodgers is going to keep all of those 12 new signings happy together with our current setup throughout the season and who will be willing to sit on the bench :-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely spot on, my friend. The club has to be real smart in the transfer market this time round with limited funds, at least when being compared to both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Arsenal. Everyone seems to think Lallana is going to be a steal at 25 mil pounds. He may well turn out to be the next Stewart Downing.
ReplyDeleteHere here mate!
ReplyDeleteBoth players? No! Truth is I haven't got a good argument for keeping either in the playing squad. From all reports the word from the club is that Alberto has not progressed the way they would have liked. Perhaps an attitude problem? Who knows? Truth is the drunk driving incident could be an indicator. Was this a one of? Did he get get caught the only time he did it? We don't know but if it wasn't it does show the mentality of a player who is not looking after himself the way a top athlete should as well as an overconfidence in himself and a disregard for others. Perhaps I am reading too much in to it.
ReplyDeleteTruth is I don't think Alberto should be sold yet but conversely do believe we should sell Aspas. For Aspas it is not that long since we signed him and his credit was high due to a good season in la liga. Waiting another would see his price drop further so sell as soon as. Alberto only played Barcelona B and not much for us so I think we should try and get him a loan to see if his price can get closer to what we payed.
Rodgers commended Aspas for his work in training and his proffessionalism. He just wasn't bulit for us or the league. Alberto must not have been doing enough behind the scenes and so I admit defeat on him. But stand by making decisions based on actual information, with him it seems like the lack of game time is the information. Perhaps he will get a loan and look good. We don't know.
By all accounts Suso's loan didn't turn out that good though. He started well but reports of falling out with coaches and a lack of work rate are worrying. He has talent but let's hope he shows it when he is back.
A pittance in todays footy money.
ReplyDeleteA pittance? It's only £21m less than LFC's biggest ever fee, and constitutes a 31% of the club's total transfer spending last summer. As such, in the context of LFC's transfer business, it's hardly a pittance.
ReplyDeleterubbish signings by rogers, he's an idiot, last season was a complete fluke and is proven by these useless cheap signings. small club with small club mentality, utterly pathetic signings, a 32 year old and a failure in the bundesliga LOL@LITTLEPOOL
ReplyDeleteHow do you pronounce it? Do you know its origin? Can you use it in a sentence?
ReplyDeleteHow so?
ReplyDeleteI don't think it true. Liverpool is in shortage of money and cannot compete with other big clubs for world-class players like this one. So rumours are still on and on, probably by Liverpool fans.
ReplyDeleteAt least £80 million. He is better than Bale, so seems fair.
