Anfield legend John Aldridge has expressed his disappointment over the apparent collapse of Liverpool's proposed move for Armenian maestro Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
According to the BBC:
"Liverpool have lost out on one of their major transfer targets after Shakhtar Donetsk's Henrikh Mkhitaryan agreed a £21.5m move to Borussia Dortmund"
Responding to the news, Aldo tweeted.
"It's a blow. He [Mkhitaryan] would have been a great signing: height, strength, goals and more"
Prior to the Dortmund revelation, Shakhtar Chief Executive Sergi Palkin - a British-trained accountant - told football.ua that:
- Mkhitaryan does NOT have a release clause in his contract.
- LFC have NOT 'agreed a fee' for the player, or even made an offer.
- Borussia Dortmund is the only club to put in an offer so far.
- Mkhitaryan's contract stipulates that he can buy himself out for $30m (£19.8m.)
When asked on Saturday morning about Dortmund's alleged deal for Mkhitaryan, Palkin appeared to refute the contention that the transfer is done and dusted. He told reporters:
"I have not talked to him [Mkhitaryan]. Borussia have offered us €25 million, but this is not enough. We are talking to the German club, and there is a real possibility that we will come to an agreement in the near future."
Ultimately, based on the available facts, nothing has really changed. Shakhtar are (seemingly) still holding out for €30m, and unless Mkhitaryan buys himself out of his contract, agreeing personal terms with Dortmund is pretty irrelevant at this stage.
The question is, do Liverpool really want Mkhitaryan? Based on the available facts, it doesn't appear so. As a comparison, consider the Clint Dempsey debacle from last summer. After Liverpool missed out on the American, he told ESPN:
""There was definitely interest there [from Liverpool], but there was nothing agreed to the point that you'd be going to get a medical done. Tottenham wanted me that much that they made things happen, and that's where you want to be; somewhere that you're wanted".
History seems to be repeating itself here, and it's clear that Ian Ayre et al haven't learned their lesson. Players like to feel wanted, if Liverpool really want Mkhitaryan, the club should stop messing about and just go in at asking price (or close to it).
Dortmund have taken action. They've made a bid, and that shows they WANT Mkhitaryan. Holding out in the hope of getting the midfielder on the cheap is clearly not working for Liverpool, and it sends the wrong message to the player, which could ultimately end with the Reds missing out. Again.
Sky Germany have allegedly reported that Liverpool have matched Dortmund's offer, but I can't find any credible evidence to confirm that.

Its hard to know what to say....not until his fate is decided officially anyways
ReplyDeleteCould be a few more twist and turns in this one. We are 2 top draw signings from top 4. And if we stick with the squad as is, we will stay where we finished last year. . In my opinion. Get the feeling Suarez will be staying.
ReplyDeleteAh well, even our former players fall for the rumour incited hysteria. Great that you point out that we apparently never even made a bid. We might have other transfer targets altogether. Funny how this rumour has kept us busy and excited for a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteCan't find any confirmation of Dortmund's Mkhitaryan deal, either, but they have signed Aubameyang.
The weird thing in all this is Liverpool haven't bid for him, there's been no confirmation (Officially) that we have made any contact. All the information about us making a bit and/or contact is all hearsay. It really is silly season and people are getting hyped on a deal for a player we have made no official bid for. We'll see what happens in the near future though.
ReplyDeleteThe main message I got from this episode is that Liverpool fans talk to much and are way too arrogant
ReplyDeleteI agree to an extent, but just because there's no public confirmation doesn't mean LFC aren't interested. There's no smoke without fire, and most transfers don't have prior public confirmation.
ReplyDeleteAll Shakhtar are doing is holding out for the 25 million they want fro Mkhitaryan. Dortmund do not seem to want to cough that money up either.
ReplyDeleteLFC are playing a waiting game and Mkhitaryan has gone AWOL.
It is plain and simple. The player will decide where he wants to play and eventually Shakhtar will give up on their stubbornness.
Rumour has it that Mkhitaryan wants to play for LFC which puts us in the driving seat.
Do not know why people want to take a stab at Ayre. We have 4 deals completed already with the transfer window only being 7 days old.
There is still 8 weeks left to sign Mkhitaryan. What gives?
Aldo says " height , strength ? " I hardly think so , goals in a weak league yes! Im amazed at how easily people have been crying out for this move when they clearly didnt know him before all these rumours! Looking at stats and a couple vids and they think he deserves close to 25mil ! Get real ! Yes I think he is a top player although when ever I watched shaktar william and fern stood out much more. I wouldnt want us to pay more than 19mil ! Thats a fair valuation and I think pool should stick with that! There are so many quality attacking mids that if we miss out on one we have close to 20 to choose from ! Simple economics really !
ReplyDeleteThere is plenty of smoke without fire when it comes to Liverpool transfer rumours. I hear that Mkhitarayan's agent wouldn't let us talk to him but again that could be bullshit. They bottom line is that the media put anything out there and we scramble about like rats for tidbits of insight assuming that we have the whiphand over the Bundesliga runners up and Champions League finalists who have a fanatical fanbase and an incredible stadium.
ReplyDeletewe are getting nowhere fast, we are finding it hard to compete with the likes of Swansea etc, I thought we would really kick on this year but im losing faith with fsg
ReplyDeleteFlip your argument to our suarez situation. Do you think liverpool will eventually give in and let him go for less money to madrid? Shakthar should get their price, end of.
ReplyDeleteI think if we were really that interested we would have at least bid? I mean that's what we have done with every other transfer so far. I don't deny that we have possibly been watching him, but I think that's always the case. I think if the club are serious why not just bid? Or at least open talks with his club or reps?
ReplyDeletejaimie you are right on this one ,we always go in very low with our bids and imo alienate the club we are trying to do the deal with, also why on earth would you match an offer buy a rival club that as already been turned down, what are we playing at ,shakhter are not going to except the same offer just ,because its from a different club, shakhter,s officials must think lfc think they are stupid,if we want him we should have gone in at 27.5 million ,ps always said the price would be nearer 30million,
ReplyDeleteApparently we have made a bid/bids for Mkhitaryan but the deal started getting complicated when news broke of his 3 party ownership.
ReplyDeleteGo check out Alexey Yaroshevsky's twitter account.
Shakhtar will keep on talking trash until they get the fee they want.
Normally I would agree with you, no smoke without fire, but this is silly season and there is far to much tireless smoke around!
ReplyDeleteThe Dempsey deal is irrelevant Fulham wanted Liverpool to pay more than they wanted from Spurs and already had our fingers burnt with Andy Carroll and would we have signed Coutinho if we had signed Dempsey and Mkhitaryan is a good player but is only worth what other clubs will pay and Dortmund are not wanting to pay the asking price either and Mkhitaryan and advisors have said that he only wants to join Dortmund.
ReplyDeletePalkin has more or less said that the player and representatives have already disgussed terms with Dortmund and its been reported that LFC have repeatedly left frustrated by their dealings with agent Mino Raiola and as a result they were never able to hold formal talks with the prolific 24-year-old about a move to Anfield but Dortmund have found Raiola more accommodating I can see Donetsk finally accept Dortmunds offer as Mkhitaryan and representavives have squashed any chances of a bidding war
The principle is the same: Spurs wanted X amount; LFC refused to pay it, and ultimately lost the player.
ReplyDeleteyes m8 of course is representives do not want a bidding war ,hold on how do they earn their money
ReplyDeleteMate, if Dortmund aren't willing to pay 25 million then why should we?
ReplyDeleteanyway ... shakhtar manager doesn't want the player to come to liverpool. He is the stumbling block, anyway .. i still believe we can get a better player b4 the transfer window closes ... YNWA
ReplyDeleteBut now we know why the club was not willing to be held ransom regarding the Dempsey transfer.
ReplyDeleteDempsey did nothing to suggest that he was worth a gamble last season. That is the problem for Spurs now. We also dodged a bullet with Sigurdsson. We were lucky to not sign any of these two players.
Hang on, you're losing faith in FSG....After this window? Which has barely opened,Really? After completing 4 deals in time for the beginning of the window is good business? Oh, and getting over £15m for Andy Carroll should be considered the deal of the summer surely?
ReplyDeleteI really doubt the manager could care less about where the departing player is going, as long as the money is on the table
ReplyDeleteThis isn't an LFC specific issue - fans on the internet seem to be the same, in general, across the board.
ReplyDeleteThere just appears to be a lot more LFC fans online, that's all...
totally agree with aldridge, lessons not learned. ian ayre has to resign for his transfer frailitys this year and last. we all know wat ayre excuse will be and it will go something like this , the club will not be held to ransom. we need someone like the spurs man daniel levey.
ReplyDeleteIts not the end of the world though is it? Eriksen is still a viable option although I wonder why none of the other big guns are in for him. I actually have had my faith reaffirmed in Liverpool and our transfer policy with recent buys in Coutinho and Sturridge. The 4 players brought in already this summer are exciting prospects. We have a strong midfield but very few goals came from there last season so it would be good to get our hands on someone of Mkhitaryans calibre. If the boss can get the collective to gel I think we have an exciting seaon ahead.
ReplyDeleteWith the return of Mourinho, power is going to become more important in the Premiership again next season.
ReplyDeleteHopefully missing out on Mkhitaryan now, will instead see Allen/Gerrard playing more advanced roles next year instead, and the money targeted on bringing in the powerful central midfielder and centre-back that we so desperately need.
We're always just a couple of signings away from achieving our aims...
ReplyDeleteHave to say I agree, I have to admit I really didn't know who he was before all this. All I know is that Shaktar have been really clever in hyping this player big style. The guy looks good (On Youtube!) But then I would too with the theme to Gladiator in the background and slow motion shots of me scoring from different angles!lol. At the end of the day, personally, I would leave this one well alone as if he flops (Which is possible based on the league he's been smashing it in) where does that leave us? I'll tell you, in nearly £30m deficit with no one to blame but ourselves. I think we are doing well with the £10m+ signings bracket. We should be looking to pillage the Spanish league where all the clubs are really struggling financially and get some quality signings in a proven league IMO.
ReplyDeleteThe winners (that were Liverpool of the past) were not ditherers like today they got in and did the business and the first thing our fans knew about a new signing was when Shanks, Bob Paisley and Kenny paraded their acquisitions for the press and public. OK the communications were not the same then but our mangers and owners of late have not only sickened the targeted players but also the fans.
ReplyDeleteBrendan Rodgers has made some good signings but it all comes to nought if we mess up and miss the keystone player. The club certainly does not want to be bidding against themselves or paying over the odds but early in this saga for the unpronounceable player it was written that the club would pay 30m Euros for this player who was so important to their push for a Champions League qualification.
Clearly the club is waiting for the dosh from Louis Suarez's sale to finance further buys. As implied by Aldo the club is about to repeat the Andy Carrol release to West Ham without bringing in an adequate replacement.
If for no other reason than their respect for their fans the club must say without further ado - and keep their promise - "Liverpool FC are retaining Louis Suarez and buying one quality centre back". End of speculation!
Maybe we can go after Michu now. He adds the goals to the team that the manager was after and is doing it in the premiership. With the style of football Swansea play i really think this transfer is a no brainer.
ReplyDeleteprobably too much smoke lol
ReplyDeletechill guys ...lets pray that we get wanyama, erikson and atsu. all for 30mill when players keep being over hyped and transfer issues they end up as flops(just for consolation) eg.fabregas @barca,torres, hazard hasnt really being scary of late ,(in three years)eriksson has a 9 goals per season whiles HM has a 10 gps....but seriously we are not a top for team NOW ! so we shouldnt be flexxing our muscles with Borussia ,they will beat us to it...we havent even made an official bid? urrrgh!!
ReplyDeleteWe knew about Aspas, Toure, Alberto and Mignolet well before the window opened and we signed them before the window opened so not sure where you are going with your comment.
ReplyDeleteWe have Suarez (if he does not leave) Aspas, Couthino, Sterling, Sturridge, Borini, Alberto, Downing and the likes of Ibe to make up our front three.
Plus Rodgers wants to add another attacking mid.
Why will selling Carroll affect us when he was never part of the setup?
Can anybody actually show any piece of evidence that Liverpool have actually tried to get this guy?
ReplyDeleteYes there has been a lot of press releases but so far anybody who has any kind of say has so far stated that Liverpool have not put in any kind of bid.
I'd like to agree, but Mich was a gamble for Swansea as he hadn't really scored that many goals in his career until he came to England which is bizarre. Personally, I'm not entirely sure he'd replicate that coming to us. Look Demba Ba for example, absolutely amazing at Newcastle, at Chelsea, not so much. I think we have a decent player in Aspas, I reckon he'll hopefully be our Michu equivalent in terms of goals.
ReplyDeleteMichu? Let's see, maybe Laudrup will be willing to let him go for 30 million pounds?
ReplyDeleteThere must be a reason why Chelsea and City are lifting there noses too.
Jason can you stop, you got a few comments on here today where you're talking some sense lol Must be all this sunshine getting to you :)
ReplyDeleteHenrik is a top player but not wrth tht amount. We can.get so many better players with that amount and after all, his not a major priority right now.I would care less if we missed out on him.The highest we should pay for him is 16m.
ReplyDeleteYou know that situation where you've gone out with your mate and he's half cut when you meet him and as soon as you get to the club he gets it in his head that the fittest girl there is giving him the eye. You know right away your in for a long night that will end with disappointment but you cant be arsed trying to talk sense to your mate after the first time you point out that she is with her fella and he ignores you. Suarez !!
ReplyDeleteAt some point you just give up and head to the bar and try to enjoy yourself but you cant just let your drunk mate make a twat of himself so you have to keep an eye on him thereby ruining your night out. Suarez !!
And whilst your mate keeps on with his deluded attempts to pull, you miss out on the chance to talk to the other girls cause your watching your mate make a bellend of himself. Suarez !!
Leave a message...
ReplyDeleteLets just pretend you are right with the price and If you include the the J.S money, then you looking at £24m.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see Chelsea or City interested in H.M either. Should we only go for there targets?
Why dont Liverpool provide money to Mkhitaryan to buy out his contract which is apparently 19.8 million pounds as Bayern did for Martinez.
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteIf Michu's selling price was 30 million then we would need to fork out 30 million.
Oh I see, the net spend cult mentality has brainwashed you too?.
Funny, I read that Shaktar picked HM up for $7.5m in the 2010/2011 season, for that reason alone we should tell them to do one and ask to drive Dortmund down there. They reckon he's gone up in value by over £20m in a couple of years? Without playing in a top league or helping Armenia to international glory, Seriously, I don't think we should bother.
ReplyDeleteI would rather take the risk with that kind of money on someone who does it in the premiership.
ReplyDeleteThe going on strike bothers me with H.M
You say it is clear that Ian Ayre et al haven't learnt their lesson, but you also say that maybe we didn't actually want him. If we haven't put in an offer it is totally conceivable that he was not on the list of players that we were going for.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how we got bum f*cked with Andy Carroll! No way is Michu worth anywhere near that amount, the guy is good but after one successful season, no thanks.
ReplyDeletewhere is ANY evidence at all from LFC that they actually haver EVER been interested IN HM?? If there is no bid, then there is no interest.
ReplyDeleteHonesty people - you believe 99% of the garbage thats printed- surely your not that gullible?
I did say lets pretend because you plucked 30m from ??????. If you do that then i will say they already gave us 6m towards him.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, he'd be my choice.
BS you said if Shelvey's money was included...
ReplyDeleteNice try though.
it raining here;-)
ReplyDeleteagree m8 the amount of outcry on here will be hysterical if we sell saurez for 35million
ReplyDeleteagree, especially when you consider how much they got for the guy they want HM to replace.
ReplyDeleteian ayre dose not decide how much we can bid for the player
ReplyDeleteif allen plays we will not improve unless he can start shifting the ball forward instead of slowing uo every attack we have,
ReplyDeleteyep I'm tired of the transfer season already. how long tell August 17th? I hope this deal goes through but if not oh well if Dortmund are not willing to meet the asking price then I don't think we should either. Dortmund is loss with cash after their gotze and other departures, quite frankly lfc are not, which obiviously can change cause I think we are about to see Lot of departures but until then we should search for other talent. plus we may not be the power that Dortmund is now but the epl is power all in itself. plus many people recognize Liverpool are moving in the right direction . so who knows.
ReplyDeleteagree m8 imo no big money signing unless suarez goes
ReplyDeleteDo we really need a big signing though? I'm happy with our midfield, and I'd back Hendo to get the job done. If there isn't enough firepower then go look for something in January IMO.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, what do you think will happen to Downing, Assaidi, Coates, Skrtel and Reina? Will we loan out guys like Suso?
A word was mentioned in this article " cheap"
ReplyDeleteUnfortunatly having been to Fenway Park more than once I can testify that is exactly the owners modus operndi.
Cheap , naive and a bit arrogant.
That are out of their depth in the EPL and we , the supporters will have to carry the can whilst they hide behind an inexperienced CEO who doesn't do the image of the club any good with his high profile on the Liverpool night scene.
Everyone has the right to a private life but you lose that right if you flaunt your behaviour in public.
So there we are , rudderless with a less than transparent grand plan and a Manager who also likes the high life and is only experienced managing boys.
You can say that about any major big money transfer. I wouldn't of paid the money for R.V.P with only 1 injury free season before his move. With his age and injuries i wouldn't have touched him but the gamble paid off.
ReplyDeleteFor me Michu fits the profile of what we are looking for and will cost top dollar because of that.
We are okay financial wise, got funds to buy him, but the players agent isn't letting us speak to Mkhitaryan. (Phil mcnulty tweeted) :)
ReplyDeleteStats prove Allen puts the ball forward not back. He back pass stat for Swansea was 28% for Liverpool it cut down to 14% :)
ReplyDeleteThis sad tale unfortunately reflects the sad state of affairs Liverpool finds it's self in. Rodgers was a man possessed a man on an important mission as he quickly signed four players early, Mingnolet, Aspas, Toure, and Alberto. A lot of fans were quite impressed with how aggressive Brendan Rodgers appeared to be pursuing his targets. It appeared that Rodgers was indeed serious about a top 4 finish next season. Fans everywhere were excited by what they saw. They thought that maybe indeed the sleeping giant was actually waking up again. A day we as fans had all been waiting for for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteWell reality has come crashing in like a serious slap to the face for most of the Liverpool faithful with the news of the Henrikh Mkhitaryan might join Dortmund. It is no coincidence that Mkhitaryan is the most expensive of our summer targets. A 24 year old Armenian who scored 25 times last season. Comfortable in playing any where in the front 3. Up front or on either wing which is the kind of versatility Rodgers wants in his attacking players.
The reality that many people are now waking up to is that nothing has really changed with the club. Ask anyone at Liverpool and they will tell you that the club is more commited to a top 4 finish than ever before, but when it comes down to signing on impact players like Mkhitaryan (who single handely outscored the whole Liverpool squad with the exception to Luis Suarez last season), you see that the club has always fallen short.
I love our new signing don't get me wrong but i feel the club is need of a Xabi Alonso type player in the center of the park pulling strings for us on the offence. We never really replaced Xabi Alonso with a player of equal caliber in the center of midfield since he left us so long ago. Rodgers has played different people in there from Henderson, Shelvy, Suarez and recently Coutinho (who was the most successful of the lot). Liverpool is in need of a real creative attacking presence in central midfield (a real midfield mistro) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan fits the bill perfectly. So it is a shame to see Liverpool stumble on the Mkhitaryan transfer.
Liverpool again has shown it's weakness to attract real marquee talent in the transfer market. It makes all the right noises but doesn't have the ability to put it's money where it's mouth is. The reality is that we are a big club in name and history alone. Our best years have really been behind us. Today we do not compete very well with other big established names for big signings.BIG CLUBS BUY BIG PLAYERS. We just buy cheap players. A player really has to want us for us to land a big name signing. The reality is that we have to spend on one or two big names if we really want to win the league before Gerrard retires and unfortunately they don't come cheap.
So far after our disappointing finishing positions over the last couple of seasons with no champion's league football players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan will continue not to see us as real contenders. Is is really a surprise that he chose a team that went to the champions league finals last season over us?
Liverpool have lost out on one of their major transfer targets after Shakhtar Donetsk's Henrikh Mkhitaryan agreed a £21.5m move to Borussia Dortmund. Manager Brendan Rodgers identified the 24-year-old forward as a top priority. But the Reds were told on Friday that the Ukrainian side had done a deal with the Champions League finalists.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool were happy to meet the asking price for Mkhitaryan but it is believed they never got the chance to hold talks with the highly rated Armenian. This is according to the BBC,,sky also reported that Liverpool had their bid accepted but the player's agent prevented the player from talking to Liverpool...So you tell me what the club did wrong?
i do not care about stats results are what matters we score more and concede less when hes not on the pitch imo
ReplyDeleteMy comment was to yours, saying he only passes behind which is **False** and can't really judge, because everyone was poor before January, and Allen got alot of MOTM awards. We will judge him next year.
ReplyDeleteAnd how did you get to that conclusion?
ReplyDeletePlucked it out of the air?
any player kenny signed is under extreme pressure ,rodgers critised downing and enrique in the press got rid of carrol and tried to get rid of hendo, and coates,,all the players you mention will be allowed to leave if an offer comes in that matches fsg,s value, and if the young players are not getting a game (which i doubt they will get as much time as last season then loan them out
ReplyDeletehow many times near the end of the seaon were we flying 2 or 3 up all over the teams only for allen to come on for hendo, and the scoring to stop ,is final game was southampton the last humiliation of the season, and finally do not post me again go and pick on vicky i think it is more your level your draining me
ReplyDeletelook m8 if you think hes pele thats fine i think he dogsh1te
ReplyDeleteWhat a bad week it has been for me sporting wise. Liverpool missed out on Mkjduewhfdss or whatever his name is, Australia lost to the f**king Lions in a once every 12 years opportunity, my rugby league team lost, and my own park football team lost today.
ReplyDeleteNothing mate.. As I have said before, not even sure if Liverpool have even put in a serious bid.
ReplyDeleteI personally think a lot of what is happening is agents, 3rd parties and his club trying to ramp up his price as much as possible.
In reality I doubt either Liverpool or Dortmund have put in bids
Your conclusion is flawed.
ReplyDeleteJoe Allen came on as a substitute in the following EPL matches.
Liverpool 4-0 Fulham
Joe Allen on with 79 minutes left of the game and Luis Suarez scored in the 90th minute. Henderson did not even play in this game.
Liverpool 3-0 Sunderland
Joe Allen on with 57 minutes left of the game but he did not substitute Henderson. Suso came on for Henderson.
Liverpool 5-0 Norwhich
Allen came on at 77 minutes left of the match for Henderson.
Man City 2-2 Liverpool
Joe Allen on in injury time (92nd minute) and he replaced Sturridge.
Liverpool 5-0 Swansea
Allen on as a sub at 72 minutes of the game, he replaces Lucas. Henderson came on as a sub at 60 minutes.
and finally
Liverpool 3-2 Tottenham
Joe Allen on as a sub for Coutinho at 60 minutes. Henderson came on as a sub on 89 minutes.
Joe Allen only replaced Henderson once as a sub.
Once again you have no clue what you are talking about.
Why make up stuff instead of doing your homework and then using facts to get to your conclusion?
When you think about it, why would he choose LFC,? Dortmund have an excellent team, as we seen last year. It is a pity, I have seen this guy play 3 times, (actually attended the games) he is brilliant, I am broken we did not get him. Ericsen would be a step below this player. But we have to move on, place our trust in BR, we dont have any option. and as I said before, look at Gaston Ramirez, Clint Dempsey rumours, ? were we really interested in this guy, who knows, I have a feeling we will come good in the transfer market this summer, but it is a reality check for BR and FSG, if they fail, it is the end of the road for both of them.
ReplyDeletewoy u reeeply to dis phule is wurze, gusse iknor im.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool have made an offer of £8m for Hellas Verona’s highly-rated young midfielder Jorginho. Possible alternative to HM. What's with all the b team players BR? Soon we will have a team full of attacking mids. Not too worried as yet.
ReplyDeleteMi reeeply cunnut b ene wurze dan yurs
ReplyDeleteAs per every other story in the media speculating on a transfer, we'll know the facts when the deal is done.
ReplyDeleteJust yesterday I read that Chelsea & Arsenal are fighting over Suarez's signature (even though the guy has said he needs to leave the UK to escape the press!!!)
If we believed or concerned ourselves too much with what the media writes, we'd all end up mad: just let the deals work their course and we'll see, come September 1st, who we have in our squad and who has left.
Mate, if he sells Henderson we will meet up and assassinate BR ;)
ReplyDeleteif suarez leaves who will score the goals an injury prone sturridge - we ned a minimum of two proven goalscoers or we will be in exactly thec same boat as last - with no excuse the same as the last.
ReplyDeleteLets make this clear for you. If the asking price for H.M is £24m and we showed interest in him before we sold J.S then i would assume we had £24m ready for the deal. Now lets pretend Michu is worth £30m like you say and we have already been paid £6m by Swansea for J.S then that would leave the deal for Michu at £24m.
ReplyDeleteMichu was the top scoring midfielder in spain in his last season.
Michu played as a lone striker for Swansea scoring 18 premiership goals.
Now this doesn't mean he would do the same for Liverpool but i think he offers better value for money out the 2 deals.
Swansea signed Shelvey for £6m. They in return need to pay us £6m.
ReplyDeleteSo how much do we need to pay Swansea if he had to cost us £30m?
Ah, c'mon lads! He hasn't gone to Tottenham has he?
ReplyDeleteThat has to be considered progress.
we NEED him, Dortmond WANT him.
ReplyDeleteI could argue with the above statement. Using words like "need to pay" suggests they haven't paid the whole £6m yet and leaves the £30m Michu question up for debate.
ReplyDeleteAsk me to forget about J.S for a minute and take him out the equation and i'll gladly answer the question.
That made me laugh............ Cheers.
ReplyDeleteAnd he accuses you of plucking figures out the air!
you supply the ammo i will get the gun lol;-)
ReplyDeleteyour welcome every bodys comments are bs except his ,just a keyboard bully
ReplyDeleteWhy waste our time discussing Michu? He's not even our target & no way Swansea going to sell their top scoring player to any of their EPL teams after their successful first season in the top flight. I'm more concern about our defense & strikers acquisition.
ReplyDeleteTrue , look i dont mind if they going to pay 20 odd mil on one player as long as he deserves that price tag and imo he does not. I would take a risk with some of the frenchies rather yoann gourcuff at 26 is experienced and a real goal threat has all the tools and he has been seriously off form and wants to move to the prem so could turn out to be a sneaky bargain , the list is endless could name atleast 20.. think southampton have just signed dejan lovern top signing ..
ReplyDeleteProgress? Id say more a success ;)
ReplyDeleteWe got four signings done quickly this year because last year the transfers dragged out and ended up being a contributing factor to our slow start last year.
ReplyDeleteTo say that we have not learned from our mistakes is simply inaccurate. We haven't even made an offer for Henrikh and people are upset. If anything, LFC seem to be making sure we spend the money on the right players so we don't run into another Andy Carroll situation. Because everyone loves how that one turned out...
It's the beginning of July. Still plenty of time to go. This summer is going to be largely deemed a success or failure based on what we do with Suarez, and any money that we reinvest into the club if he is sold.
true mate allen looked our best player in the first month or so whether confidence or the injury caused him to dip alarmingly idont know but i think he will surprise a few people in how good he is inthe coming season
ReplyDeleteDeal. Also we will burn down that ridiculous self portrait :P
ReplyDeleteFans in general comment a lot as if they are better than the club managers themselves. Online, everyone seems to be a football expert
ReplyDeleteSome fans are crying doom if we don't sign him and complaining how stingy FSG is on this one. I have not heard of this guy before this. We should be careful not to pay over the odds for someone we hardly know except through other write-ups and video clips. If he is an established player then yes, we should cough up the money. But I am not sure on this Henrikh guy at 20 to 25m.
ReplyDeleteHe looks good on video clips but we should not forget that the EPL is a whole different league than the Shakthar's league. We will need to trust Brendan on the transfers.
I know what to say. It's a bloody joke. We were so busy going after average dross from Spain that we forgot to get out top priority transfer in place. But let's not panic, maybe Barca reserves have someone just as good they're willing to sell us for 10 million in spite of him never playing first team football.
ReplyDeleteI really doubt that anything here is "clear" so to suggest that the club haven't learned a lesson is a real stretch. The whole Dempsey saga in itself is still a grey area as to what actually happened. Now we're speculating again about speculative interest and speculative actions of the club in speculatively trying to sign the player. Over-excited much? If anyone could actually point to some clear facts about what happened then maybe there is some point, but honestly it sounds more like disappointed fans looking for someone to blame because they got over-excited about a player they had previously never heard of. We haven't got the first clue what has actually happened behind the scenes, what conversations the club had with the player, what deals they tried to conclude. We simply don't know, so to suggest that we "clearly" haven't learned from previous mistakes which in themselves are still speculative at best ... it's really a bit of a joke isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDELUDED FANS!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLiverpool are not big enough to attract the top players.
ReplyDeleteDeluded!
we should be going after alonso and ericksen can get both for the price we would have paid for mkhitarayn
ReplyDeletewe would have to inform the fire brigade for safty reasons ,have you seen the sieze of it ,we could start a raging inferno lol
ReplyDeletehaha, I have another idea, we could kidnapp little Joe Allen, set a ransom of say...15 mil? He'd pay it for sure
ReplyDelete15million your having a laugh ,you know he and the rest of world football will pay at least double that
ReplyDeleteHe was to expensive for FSG! You can see the next top target is Jorginho rated at 7m! No any top name or expensive one! I believe Jorginho was the real target from the beginning!
ReplyDeleteWhat's ironic is that we didn't get linked to Henrikh until we were certain to miss out on Eriksen....to Dortmund. So now we seem certain to lose out on him and we're back to being linked to Eriksen who still hasn't signed with anyone.
ReplyDeleteHow could I forget...the Welsh Xavi has doubled in value!!! haha alright let's give our manager a break for now :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that Allen definitely does need to change his style of play/Rodgers' needs to change his role if we are to kick on next year.
ReplyDeleteAllen is a talented player though imo, and whether anybody likes it or not, he is going to play a major role in Rodgers' team this year.
With that being the case, I'd much rather see him try to emulate the likes of Iniesta & Wilshire in a more advanced role, than continue to be a defensive liability due to his lack of ability to knock attacking players off of their stride, much less off of the ball
hahaha
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there - you got me good this time!! ROFLMBAOOOOOO Clever guy - you're mum must be sooo proud!
agree we can get on his back if the results are substandard this season
ReplyDeletesorry m8 i really cannot be bothered to waste any time going on about allen
ReplyDeleteIn that case, I'll talk to you soon :P
ReplyDeleteha ha
ReplyDeleteWell a lot of these club managers sure don't act like experts themselves...
ReplyDeletelol enough said!
ReplyDeleteHe is going to be a first teamer under Rodgers' though, in one form or another... lol
True that. And as soon as Eriksen signs for someone else, there will be more news about Suaréz. And the most ironic thing probably is that there are still loads of people out there who believe all of this and get very excited and irrational about all of this. And they tell us that mankind is considered to be intelligent.
ReplyDeletePerfectly stated...
ReplyDeleteJust... Perfect
agree sad really
ReplyDeleteCome on JK, the news about Aspas and the other Spanish guy was on the net at least two weeks before it happened. Same goes for Mignolet although that may have been a little over a week. The only big surprise was Touré.
ReplyDeleteThe ownership thing didn't seem to bother Dortmund though.
ReplyDeleteThis didn't want to be held ransom thing is based on one crazy summer with ridiculous spending. We lost out on Holtby as well in January just because Spurs were more decisive
ReplyDeleteThey wanted Dortmund not Liverpool they wanted Champions league and the wages that come with teams in the Champions League when it came down to it they wanted Dortmund and Champions League football Liverpool didn't stand a chance the contracts were already sorted before a fee was agreed on they wanted Champions League money
ReplyDelete
