Liverpool are reportedly lining up a move for 19-year old Chelsea midfielder Lucas Piazon.
According to the Daily Mail:
"Liverpool and Crystal Palace have asked about taking Chelsea midfielder Lucas Piazon on loan.
"The Brazilian is eager to go on loan again so he can gain more experience".
When asked this week about his future, Piazon - who cost Chelsea £10m - said:
"It's hard to say how often I will play or if I will play at all. We have to wait and see if any Premier League clubs will be interested in me"
Piazón was named Chelsea Young Player of the Year in his first season, and prior to being sacked, Roberto DiMatteo heaped praise on the youngster, calling him a 'classic professional'. He told reporters:
“We’re very happy to have these Brazilians in our team. Lucas Piazon is a young, talented player that has come into the first-team squad this season, and he’s somebody that we would like to progress. He has a good chance of becoming a top player"
Well, soon after DiMatteo got the bullet, Chelsea farmed Piazon out on loan to Malaga, where he made 13 appearances (4 starts) for the La Liga side, grabbing two assists along the way. In a recent interview, Piazon explained what type of player he is, and outlined his hopes for the future:
"I'm not a physical player, but more technical. The style of play in Spain and Brazil is not so different. The rhythm is slower and the players are not as physical as in England. What I want now is to play. If it happens here [Chelsea] or for another club, I will be happy as well. I just want to play while I am young".
Piazon is often labelled the 'new-Kaka', something that doesn't bother him at all, as he told reporters at a Press conference in January:
“The press say that I am the new Kaka or the new Robinho and for me that's fine. It's normal that they compare me with him [Kaka] because I played in the city of Sao Paulo and Kaka did too"
If Rodgers has indeed asked about Piazon, then I imagine he sees him as a back-up plan should Liverpool fail to land first-choice targets. Additionally, given the fact Jose Mourinho is now in charge at Stamford Bridge, Rodgers will probably find it easier to broker a deal.
Having said that, with youngsters like Raheem Sterling and Suso already trying to break through, it would see counter-productive to bring in Piazon, who could potentially put the blockers on the duo's development. It would make even less sense if Suso and Sterling were sent out on loan, with Piazon coming in on loan to replace them.

no more loans
ReplyDeleteWhatever about loaning established Internationals from the likes Real Madrid, if we start to loan Chelsea kids for our first team we may aswell satisfy ourselves with mid table mediocrity for the rest of our days!
ReplyDeleteif we are after loaning players like this we truely have hit rock bottom ,what about and heres a novel idea ,giving some of our youngsters the chance to develop their potential
ReplyDeleteI can speak for a lot of Chelsea fans hoping this loan doesn't happen. Mainly because he's a superb player (deserves a chance in the first team) and likely to help your bid for the top 4. I wouldn't turn your nose up at the chance to get hold of this guy. Better than quite a few players on your book. I have loads of friends who were sceptical about Sturridge because of the "Chelsea reject" tag but look how that has turned out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. Could you possibly outline Piazon's strengths? What type of player is he? What's his best position etc. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteIt's from the Daily Mail so it must be true!
ReplyDeleteif we can buy him yes .....or we can get him on loan with an option to buy at the end then yes ....otherwise no ....he is awesome like lukaku and we should not have any desire to help chelsea get any stronger ;) ......he can either join us permanently and become the next kaka or waste his career like josh mc eachran and paulo ferreria :P
ReplyDeleteCan play in both the attacking mid and striking positions, probably better coming off the left onto his right foot but will often go for the pass (successfully) rather than shot (although he can strike a ball). The style of football being implemented by Rodgers is well suited for him and I believe he'd link up very well with Coutinho, Sturridge, Aspas and Suarez (If still around). Stronger than he looks too, and obviously as a Brazilian has a great touch, fantastic dribbler and vision. Was on loan at Malaga at the end of last season, often a sub but played well considering he was competing with Isco for a start.
ReplyDeleteI am with Rah on this. If it is a loan with an option to buy then ok but if its a straight loan then no need.
ReplyDeleteIf it has a option to buy at the end of it then yes, if not then no
ReplyDeleteWe have enough top youngsters so no thanks.
ReplyDeleteoff topic:- Its damning to read that Liverpool will have to pay 5mn to Andy Carroll if he is sold without transfer request as a part of his signing on fee. Also, Newcastle have 25% sell on clause means we won't get even 10mn from big Andy. I know its too late to cry over it but it still hurts. Darn!!
ReplyDeleteWhat ? We fu***** bought this guy for 35 Million and there's still a sell on clause available for newcastle ?
ReplyDeleteWhat a shi*ty piece of business was that ??
DAMN is that true !! F me that is outrageous. I am hoping you have got that wrong dude. If the geordies have 25% sell on and the big lad gets 5m how come they couldnt sort out a deal to take him back. That hurts bro just hurts
ReplyDeleteLiverpool should not be loaning in these players and developing them for the opposition. Trying to loan a player from another club in my mind automatically sends out the wrong message to your own players and youth. How would you feel if you were suso or Stirling knowing this person may take your playing time and he is not even a Liverpool player??How would you feel as an established player at the club? Supposedly we had our transitional year and this is the year were we are supposed to be looking across at Chelsea and the like and not acting like some developing feeder club were we go to the big clubs and act like a beggar. If we truly do want to be on equal terms in the way we do our business then we need to stop acting like Swansea, wigan or west brom , who will loan fringe players year on year to play in their team due to then having weak teams. If we act like this we will never have stability and it should stop now. If BR has identified a weakness and needs to fill it, then sell the poor players and go and buy an established player that will be a Liverpool player for the long haul not just to fill a gap. the only time i would ever want liverpool to sign someone on loan is if during the middle of the season we had a massive injury problem and we needed a stop gap in january but to get loans in in the summer is frankly poor management and signals we will not be prepared.
ReplyDeleteIf i know KD i will copy and paste ur comment and smash to his face.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely agree, but i´d still like so see him in red.
ReplyDeleteI personally think rodgers sees him as a back-up plan for alberto, if we cant manage to sign him we ll go for him me thinks :)
a loan with an option to buy would still be very good IMO, hes a class player and if we fail to get alberto he would be my next choice!
Sounds like he's desperate to play but would he get many games at Liverpool considering there's no European football and our attacking players are pretty good. Also seems like Mkhitaryan or Eriksen will be signed. If he's as good as Chelsea fans are saying I wouldn't mind him, it ain't easy getting into that Chelsea team with the money they've spent.
ReplyDelete25% Clause :- http://soccerwithoutlimits.com/newcastle-united-transfer-special-andy-carroll-waits-in-last-chance-saloon-for-magpies-return/28594/
ReplyDeleteCarroll 5mn payout http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier-league/26282-carroll-s-mega-liverpool-pay-out.php
ReplyDeleteHe haven't proved himself yet. Can you tell me one LFC attacking player who is not better than him? stats?
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I've watched him play and its clear he's got a bright future ahead. People snooze on the youth at chelsea but between piazon and de bruyne you have two of the most promising players in their positions. Problem continues to be the lack of playing time at chelsea but if you can do a better job with these two than you did with sturridge (albeit he was very poor for you guys) and lukaku, you'll have some super players in the next 2-3 yrs. Alongside the core of established young players you have lead by oscar and hazard, Chelsea is a team that has the ability to pull off a stretch of dominance in the near future imo
ReplyDeleteI read its only in case of an profit for liverpool... 15 m is less than 35m so they shouldnt get those 25%, according to my sources. Hopefully you can't prove me wrong !!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway 5m directly to Andy Carroll ? I would like him to wash the dirty kits, and clean up gerrards boots, as well as our trophies every single day untill he finally moves to a long ball team where he can make his average 10 goals per season and fight relegation every single year ...
As I said, I wouldn't see taking him on loan as doing Chelsea a favour (it does help develop him of course) but I'd look at it as picking up a decent player to supplement squad depth for nothing (maybe minimal wages). Yes you have your own impressive youth setup but the best thing about a loan player is there is no obligation to play him meaning that you give him games when needed (injuries etc) and if he performs well, bonus.
ReplyDeleteI know if I was a Liverpool fan I'd prefer getting this guy on loan and spending money on a top class player in another position than have to spread the wealth between a few players for problem positions.
As mentioned, I'd prefer he didn't go to Liverpool as I think he'd help you out too much. I just hope those of you sticking your noses up aren't around when he scores against you for Palace next season.
Well, I don't understand this ... Why should they block the move ?
ReplyDeleteLike you did when sturridge scored against you ;) ?
ReplyDeleteon Loan? nope, no way and never. I never ever want a loan deal unless it has a auto buy clause you can use from another prem club. The whole idea is horrid. Lets loan a rivial clubs player and improve him so we can give him back once he has got match fit and game ready so they can finish above us in the league or sell him for loads more.
ReplyDeleteAlso I hate the tags "new". I hardly ever see a player get up to the level who there meant to be the new version of, and it seems every single player is now a new version of someone. I would understand more if the player that were linked with had retired but now its even happening with people like Ronaldo and Messi etc.
ReplyDeleteI read that too. no one knows if it is true but it would perfectly explain why Carroll seems happy to say he wants to fight for his place. If he hands in a transfer request under contract law I think they don`t get a pay off. It doesn`t suprise me of Carroll though.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea if this story has any truth to it....
ReplyDeleteMy mind will not accept it. Were we that ridiculously desperate at the time of signing him, that not only did we agree to pay them £35m; we include a £5m clause to the man AND a further 25% sell on?
That makes no financial sense at all for a player who repped for one season previously. That deal could end up costing us the full £50m we got for Torres if it's true.....!
Oww! My brain hurts!
At last, some sense.....Damn I hope you're right. That would stop my brain aching. . . :)
ReplyDeletePretty ridiculous, naming new neymars, messis etc, they are not even 30 years old. Can't wait for the new Suarez ;)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant piece of business by Ian Ayre ...
ReplyDeleteWell the 5mil clause isn`t that odd. I don`t know if its normally that high but from my understand almost all players get something when we sell them as we have cancelled there contract, unless they hand in a transfer request. I don`t know the figures but I`m guessing Carrolls is higher as he has longer left on the deal?
ReplyDeleteThe 25% sell on bit I don`t have a clue about, but wouldn`t be suprised if we did. All in all its shocking stuff.
What equals that is there are still some fans out there who think Rodgers has done worse with his transfer deals than Kenny. That is also a joke.
I know, its poor journos really, just trying to flog there rag with a high hitting name tag (not aimed at you Jamie as I know your just repeating what has already been wrote).
ReplyDeleteI just can`t work out how you can label a player of say 20 the New "insert name" when the guy they compare to is only say 22.
Can anyone actually think of anyone who was labelled the new anything that actually ever got to the top of the game? From the top of my head I can`t, there usually flops.
did kenny write up the contracts? DOUBT IT VERY MUCH
ReplyDeleteI thought rubinho was the new ronaldinho. Both impressive players, but theres only one that stunned the football world.
ReplyDeleteNo I can't remember any player being better than his "old" version ;)
its a lot of pressure put on a player when they are compared to giants of football. I personally hate it, the pressure and expectations liing on a young boy. Poor young footballers !!
ARE YOU SAYING JAIMIE DOES NOT COME UP WITH ANYTHING BY HIMSELF ,I WOULD BAN YOU JUST FOR THAT;-) sorry about the cap lock just realised
ReplyDeletehaha, twat lol.
ReplyDeleteProb not getting past the modding with my last comment lol. it was as short as this
ReplyDeletehaha. Tw a T. lol
its to me so you will be fine ;-)i take it you mean twit
ReplyDeleteI just read a article on 15 players labelled the "new" Maradonna, and where are they know. Out of the 15, to be far a few have done well, and a couple really well, with one prob levelling if not surpassing the big man himself (Messi). However there was also about 10 who flopped in that list, and the other 13 aren`t as of yet even close to him. Only 1 (Messi) matched the tag imo. Link to the page
ReplyDeletehttp://bleacherreport.com/articles/1342092-the-history-of-the-next-maradonas-and-how-they-fared/page/17
no I meant Tw a T lol. Was meant as a jokey reply tho. Not serious. ala you gave funny comment I reply with "Tw a T".
ReplyDeleteIn addition
ReplyDeleteleandro damiao is seen as the new ronaldo by the way ;)
players can get replaced , upgraded, missed, get legends or whatever. But I personally see every player as an individual..
there are many differences between players that are compared much too often
Gerrard and lampard , sturridge and wellback etc.
If I was a 18 football player, the last thing I would like to hear is: hey man you're the next drogba!! So cmon show us what you can do. Its pretty silly IMO. Young players aren't thinking about being the next superstar, all they want to do is go out and play, show their passion and win games !!!
or just sign a massive deal lol.
ReplyDeleteBut yep, completely agree with you.
We need all the help we can get! LOL
ReplyDeleteHow and why?
ReplyDeleteprob not, but I`m sure he had somthing to do with it. I appreciate you are in the Kenny is the best manager that ever lived camp, but some of us aren`t so blind.
ReplyDeleteas if chelsea are going to loan a player to us?! not likel
ReplyDeletei never started on here till kenny got the sack ,so the only reason rodgers gets so much stick is because .according to everyone (nearly )kennys to blame 100%and rodgers is a god
ReplyDeleteI think he is quality and harnessed alongside Courtinho would be very productive, some of our kids still don't look ready to step up, not in the same class as this guy!
ReplyDeleteno offence taken wether it was a joke or not(know it was a joke)o
ReplyDeletethey could do ,just like that;-)
ReplyDeletehow does that make sense? surely your grown up enough to not have to do the "he started it thing". Thats pure jokes Jas, your better than that.
ReplyDeleteIt`s just saying the truth. There is no lie in saying Kenny signing Carroll for 35mil was shocking, and 20mil for downing was shocking too. That doesn`t mean you think Rodgers is god. Maybe that is your issue, instead of seeing that someone can point out a negative about someone without being in any other camp, they might just be clever and grown up enough to look at things openly.
List the transfers, Rodgers clearly by a mile has done better than Kenny. In terms of players and prices. That don`t mean I hate Kenny, but I`m not a idiot either. The truth may hurt, but it is still the truth which to me is better than making yourself believe a lie, just so you can feel better.
pretty clearly a joke Jason.
ReplyDeleteExactly, end of days if we loan a Chelsea player, improve him and they benefit. Sickening thought
ReplyDeletei think they have to keep the filters on ,because of people like me ;-)
ReplyDeletehaha, yeah I do get there is reasons, mainly spam. Just the word filter which drives me up the wall. I think got about 4 posts waiting on mod right now
ReplyDeleteWe are liverpool. If we want to loan someone it should be a deal that includes an option to buy after a year. Why should we help a rival club like Chelsea to develop their promising players when we have so many of our own to worry about? Although Rodgers is good with mourinho, not for one second I am going to stop "opposing" Chelsea now that Benitez is gone I can have full freedom to "hate" them again haha.. Every time I think of how we beat them at CL semis or Torres scoring against them I feel happy. So please no loans from rival clubs please, cos I think they might be current favorites for the title right now.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the "Daily Mail", enough said.
ReplyDeleteLoans should only be utilized if we have the option to buy.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lower risk move for us... if we like him, we negotiated the fee in advance.
If we don't like him, we send him on his merry way.
We can't put ourselves in a Sahin situation again.
Find 3 people who have said that "it's all Kenny's fault and that Rodgers is a god."
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how "everyone (nearly)" has said it, it shouldn't be that hard to find 3.
KK wasted money on over rated english players, he was out of his depth. Rodgers on other hand is bringing in better players. For lesser fees, and no one said Rodgers is god, he just doing his job and atm he doing well.
ReplyDeleteBecause aspas went through a different agent to get the deal done and not his proper one. But Liverpool are positive it will go through
ReplyDeleteYaaaaawn!
ReplyDeleteThe people responsible for signing AC made this transfer deal one of the biggest joke in the history of football.
ReplyDeleteNot too sure if KD and Comolli were responsible for drafting his
contract terms but more likely than not. Anyway, these 2 champions were
rightfully sacked for throwing awesome sum of money at mediocre players
and not delivering the goods at the end of the day. FSG were too
punished by wasting so much of their money. No matter what, LFC
suffered as a club overall. At least BR got DS and Coutinho in to offset the mistake for paying too much for JA and Borini.
Comparatively, BR is clearly better than KD in terms of transfer dealings
and results on pitch. I think it's rather pointless to argue about
that.
No loan buy tho I think would b good seems a decent player only concern is if he is that good would chelsea let him but let's face they face it they might do its only Chelsea they let Borini go 5 times have that
ReplyDeleteI say no because if reports are true in regards to the players we're linked or buying such as Alberto, Iago and Henrikh coming in plus the players we already have in our squad AND top that with trying to develop our own young players such as Suso, Raheem et all (pause for breath) where will will fit him? And where will he play? We're not going to bench as player we're buying for 7-20 pounds so we could help Chelsea develop their youth
ReplyDeleteI read that its 25% sell on and not 25% on profit. It also mentions Newcastle can buy him in 11.25 million
ReplyDeleteI think Liverpool should loan him with option to buy! Never can tell! But yet again is he worth the chance over Adam Morgan and other young players In Liverpool?
ReplyDeleteOne season? It was more like half a season in the premier league from a player who was mediocre at Preston North End! Says it all!
ReplyDeletei would not like to name and shame them
ReplyDeletepeople keep going on about the results on the pitch rodgers spent more net this season than kenny did in his full season, some of kennys signings have come good ,and rodgers got no european football ,but you cannot see that you only see kennys at fault lets hope rodgers those not start this season like last,or am afraid your messiah will be out on his hear, and rightly so,
ReplyDeletei do not understand the word filter at all, some posts than i think mite not pass fly through, others were there is nothing offensive at all get blocked lol;-)
ReplyDeleteLets just Nope its just a rumor..
ReplyDelete*hope
ReplyDelete
