Confirmed: £12m Juve outcast hailed by Agger could move in Jan. Bid...?

A few weeks ago, Liverpool defender Daniel Agger heaped praise on Denmark teammate Nicklas Bendtner, arguing that the striker has 'many qualities', and is capable of playing at the very highest level. To be honest, Agger's eulogy sounded like a recruitment pitch, and now it seems that Bendtner may be available during the January transfer window. Could he be a potential solution to Liverpool's striker situation?

The 24-year-old has made just two starts for Juventus so far this season, and his Agent, Tom Brooks, is not happy about the situation. He told TMW:

“[Bendtner] is too strong a player to stay on the bench, so it’s not good for him or for Juventus to keep him there.

“If it continues like this, we will consider our options. Could that be from January? We’ll talk about it over the next few weeks.

"This situation is not good and, when he is out of patience, we will consider our options.

In an interview at Denmark's team base, team captain Agger - who recently revealed that he has his eyes on the Liverpool captaincy - argued that Bendtner has 'changed one hundred per cent', and it working harder now at his game than ever before, adding:

"He [Bendtner] has obviously had a hard time, especially at Arsenal.

"It's always a challenge to go to new club, but he has many qualities, and he has proven that he can play at the top level.

"He scored plenty of goals for Arsenal, which proves he has the ability to succeed anywhere, and I have no doubt that when he gets the chance at Juventus, they will see that and use him more.

"He has developed immensely in recent years and become very serious about the game. I take my hat off to him; it takes a real man to get back to top after being down at the bottom"

Prior to his loan move to Juventus, £12m-rated Bendtner was (tenuously) linked with a shock move to Anfield, but whether that rumour was actually true is anyone's guess.

Perhaps Agger's glowing eulogy is an indirect attempt to put Bendtner's name in the mind of Brendan Rodgers?

Would he fit in at Liverpool?

  2. I would like to see him signed - young and worth taking a chance on. £5m would be a good deal.

  7. Bendtner would improve the squad but he is not the solution to our goal scoring problems.

  10. How would he improve the squad if he isn't a solution to our goalscoring problems? He would bulk the squad up, but I don't think he's better than anything we currently have. And he's that full of self-importance his wages would make the transfer a big mistake.

  14. The big news today is that Sterling "allegedly" wants £50 grand a week to sign a new contract. His argument, apparently, is that is what Downing is on.

Nice to know he hasn't let a few decent games go to his head.

If we lose Sterling as now seems likely due to his wage demands the clubs policy on brining youth through will be in tatters. If we cant compete for decent players and cant rely on youth where does this leave us.

  16. Staerling will need a strong manager to keep him in check, great little player but the real danger with him is his ego, i worry about this kid in the sense he could become a total nightmare to manage

  17. This would be a truly terrible signing, he has nothing to bring to the team, he is just awful

  18. Sterling has rubbished these rumours on twitter

  19. bringing in the kids during present situation was a good idea yet filled with ifs and buts,at present he is too light a player (he gets muscled off the ball too much)his signature move is too predictable, his temper gets the best of him sometimes(kicking out at players)his hurry to be a star is going to be his downfall.Yes i've enjoyed watching him play but every time i do, I think this could be the game he gets hurt,he is going to be gone before the rebuild period is over any way,why not deal him in while still young,he should be worth a striker or two.My apologies to the diehards, but sometimes you have to think outside the box.JC is getting better than 100k why settle for 50.

  21. I was watching ESPN last night and they had a programme on Great Champions League games. After a Deportivo v Milan match, LFC v Besiktas came on.
I had to turn it off after the second goal because it was too upsetting to watch. That was only 4 years ago ffs!! Anyone who says Rafa played boring football needs to watch that again. Full backs getting forward, the best midfield in the world, goals spread across the team.
    And the fnckers sacked him.
    Because he spoke his mind.

    I'm off for a lie down. :(

  22. Snap him up for £6m max. He is decent enough

  26. Bendtner is not a great goalscorer but he is better than having nothing which is our current situation.

  32. sorry your over qualified were only interested in no hopers these days please reapply when we have new owners

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bentner is in the same bracket as Downing, promises a lot but then you get FA

    ReplyDelete
  34. He is certainly nothing like good enough to play for Juve, though one cannot rule out the possibility of him scoring the odd goal if he happens to be in the right place. He is much better than most players at Anfield, though really rather ordinary. That is a fair comment on the standard at Liverpool these days.

  35. Jason, I warn you again: if you persist in perpetuating the false myth that 'posters get barred for their views' then I will ban you permanently.

That is not true at all, so stop making up crap.

People are barred for any of the following:

    * Outright abuse

    * Persistent derogatory comments against other posters/players/managers etc

    * Sniping (i.e. constantly posting comments that slag off the site/me

    * Ongoing campaigns to twist my views

You persistently try and convince people that I delete comments that I disagree with, which is ridiculous.

One more comment like that (like the one I deleted earlier), and you will be banned.

  39. Bring him for 12, he is worth it.

  40. Should have brought him instead of Borini. Now it makes no sense...

  43. I'm not talking about that post; I'm talking about your post from yesterday where you go on about me 'barring people for their views', which is just total nonsense.

  44. Bendtner is arrogant like the french, but doesn't have any talent to back it up and he's lazy. I'd rather have an incurrable disease than Bendtner in a Liverpool shirt.
