VIDEO: Robert Huth's disgraceful stamp on Luis Suarez. Red card offence...?

Stoke City defender Robert Huth was lucky to stay on the field at Anfield today after the referee missed a blatant, cynical stamp on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Suarez spent the whole game being hacked down by Stoke's players, and Huth set the tone very early on with this his shameless fouling.

How the referee missed this is beyond me, but it's also surprising that Suarez and other Liverpool players didn't make more of a big deal out of it.

It seems that the Uruguayan - who had a good game overall - is truly a marked man, amongst both opposition players and referees.

Here is Huth's stamp:

After seeing a replay of the offence after the game, former Reds defender Jason McAteer raged:

"It was terrible. I've seen it again in slow motion and he [Huth] just trampled all over him. I thought Luis did well to keep his calm. It was poor from Huth but they [Stoke] were at it all over the pitch".

In the latter stages of the game, Suarez was up to his old tricks again when he deliberately dived in the box (anyone who watched the game will know the incident to which I refer), so it's understandable why opposition players get easily irritated by him.

In a recent press conference, Brendan Rodgers insisted that Suarez doesn't dive but that is not true in the slightest. He DOES dive, and he proved that again today.

  1. It looks quite intentional as he didn't need to 'stamp' his foot on Suarez. Huth could have one-legged away from Suarez. Truly 'brilliant' referring again.

  2. There was no doubt it was a red card. Another meaningless performance by LFC at Anfield which brought nothing but only a barren draw against Stoke. That means LFC still didn’t manage to get a win at Anfield! This is very disturbing but the most disturbing thing LFC’s fans are experiencing is the fact that the coaching team does not have the tactical nous to present various systems during the game as it can disorient the opponent team. As the margins are narrowing dangerously for our beloved club it is the time for the coaching team and the ownership to sit down and thing seriously how the current season is “developing.” They bear full share of responsibility for the inability of the team to win and grab points from subordinate teams. The image LFC team shows in the pitch is sad and frustrating. This can no longer be continued!

I watched all of the game, stoke can't play football! All they are good at is taking players out, they took Suarez out loads,Johnson got taken out midair and sterling and Suso! 6 yellow cards they had. But draw is a draw even city drawed against them.

  5. It's only a red card offence if a Liverpool player does it, or if a Liverpool player commits a yellow card worthy tackle, that also is an automatic red for Liverpool, opposition teams are allowed to do whatever they like against Liverpool.

  6. This was always going to be a goalless draw. Two boring, sterile teams who have nothing to offer invariably produce a 0 - 0. Probably both will be satisfied with the result, which is a sign of how far LFC are from where they once were. Well into October and one win to show for it! Lamentable. Utterly lamentable.

  7. So what if he dives? Huth could have killed him.

  8. apart from the one incident where suarez dived towards the latter stages of the second half, he never dived all game. He was getting a raw deal from the ref and the stoke players, getting hacked all over the places and half of the time he wasn't winning clear free kicks so i can see why he started diving towards the end. our players need more protection from the officials

  9. When you play Stoke you know how they are going to play, you know you are going to get kicked off the park and you plan accordingly. However the clueless Rodgers who can talk the talk but cant walk the walk, doesnt have an idea how to break down the opposition and does not have the squad to change the plan of attack, having managed to purchase a more useless player than Downing in Borini and kicked out Andy Carroll who finished last season in a flourish. I cant wait to hear what arrogant crap he comes out with today after the match. Liverpool fans are not stupid and it wont be long before more of you are not fooled by this man.
All Liverpool did in the end was kick high balls into the box, tiki taka football my arse, Stoke love it when you play to their strengths and with no player to hold up the play and take on big defenders then a win was never on the cards.

  10. If Suarez dived and won us a penalty which won the match 1-0 I'd be very happy.

  11. Suarez's diving is a disgrace too. How can a manager/DoF/whoever responsible for transfers not consider it before signing a diver, is just beyond me.

  18. In all honesty we were piss poor today ....

Gerrard was constantly playing long balls or giving away possession cheaply - he has ruined our short passing style of football today !!!!

Should have been subbed at halftime and I am dead serious about it.

There were options on the bench like Assaidi or Borini, but what has Rodgers done ...

    Bring on Joe Cole ...

C'mon Rodgers, you really can't have thought that Joe would be of any help ....

Overall a very poor performance and it has looked like a attitude problem ... let's hope Rodgers gets it across to the players that such showings won't be tolerated !!!!

  19. FSG need to sack themselves. Under their stewardship, the club has become an utter shambles. FSG will get this great club relegated!!!

  22. I don't think he even managed to last a year at Red Sox, the manager that got sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Man, people are despondent and a bit edgy today. What did you expect? That Liverpool would go out and play Stoke off the park? Stoke that relies heavily on defensive strategies and defensive cohesion. That combined with our teams utter lack off goalscoring capabilities are a perfect match for a 0-0 result.

I expected at the most a 1-0 win from this match. Can't say that I'm that really disappointed with a 0-0 result. What I'm disappointed with is the lack of creativity of the team and that some players in the squad seems to think that they can play football on their own. If just everybody stuck to the game plan and played the tactics that Rodgers wants the team to play it may have been better today. Gerrard and Suarez to name two that didn't follow tactics.

And all this shouting about FSG is crap and that Rodgers is crap. Get a grip and stand behind the team in this hour of need. We're in a phase of rebuilding and to have big expectations on this team are too fool ourselves. This is a team for the future. Come ending of the season and we're in the middle of the table I'll be content cause we're not gonna win the league this year. That's at least 3-4 years in the future if everything goes as planned.

    And by the way;

    Suarez: Stop diving please!

    ReplyDelete
  24. This, I think, links back to Suarez's (deserved) reputation for going down easily. He, like Christiano Ronaldo did, has engineered this situation where referees don't take his appeals, falls or anything else on face value unless they got a really good look at it.

What should, hopefully, happen now is that the FA should look at that and retrospectively give Huth a ban for the incident, and we all hope that Luis will get over his habit of falling over at the slightest provocation (though going off what he did later on in that game I'm not gonna hold my breath).

    ReplyDelete
  25. Prior to taking that lame dive, Suarez was kicked for the umpteenth time in his leg. However, he decided to stay on his feet (probably due to his tenacity) but then ended up realizing that it would have been better to take the foul. The result due to this delay was that he opted to take a very unconvincing tumble.

It was a message to the referee that he wanted the foul rather than play to continue. Players do it a lot, however, rarely in that dramatic fashion. In such situations, you either fall immediately, or else, go down slowly clutching and pointing to your foot, complaining verbally with the ref later on. The way Suarez did it would have made the ref look pathetic if he gave it, even if there was contact prior to that.

Having said this, I have seen such penalties being given. (Berbatov vs. LFC Jan 2010)

I have just read Pulis' comments after the match, claiming that he wants retrospective action to be taken against Suarez for unsporting behaviour. If this is to be done, then he should be ready to say good bye to half of his first team because the amount of unpunished or leniently punished tackles was amazing. With 6 Stoke players booked, it seemed like they took in turns to foul.

If football wants to promote the beautiful game, they should copy other sports (like Basketball, Judo, Motorsports) and punish teams who play ultra-defensively and in a dangerous manner. There were at least two two-footed tackles to clear the ball done by Stoke players which went unpunished. Last season, we had Spearing sent off for one similar challenge against Fulham...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Of course he dives and its a sad indictment of the state of English football that unfortunately it is a necessity for us. Every team in the EPL is full of players that will take a tumble in the box if they think it will get them three points. Its unfair to single out Suarez for criticism because of it. The real culprits are the FA for a complete and utter failure to act against all teams that do it, and whilst we're at it, they should be sorting out the absolutely appalling standard of refereeing in this country. The old adage that the league table doesn't lie is complete bull these days. Barely a game passes by that at least one contentious decision is given completely the wrong way by referee's.
I can't speak for everyone but I know that if I performed so consistently poorly in my job I would be sacked. I appreciate that its a hard job but until they introduce technology they are going to carry on getting this wrong leaving themselves open to accusations of corruption in the process.
Don't get me wrong, we have only ourselves, or rather our owners to blame for our situation, we need goals and had they provided funds on deadline day for a striker that desperately wanted to play for the club, 29 years old or not, we probably wouldn't be struggling as badly as we are. However even though our results haven't been good, the performances have been largely encouraging were it not for key refereeing decisions being given incorrectly in several of our games so far.
I still believe our future can be bright under Brendan. On the whole I love the style of play, and we are not a million miles from being a complete package. This was never going to be a quick fix and given time this will work.

And how is intentionally stamping on an opponent not a disgrace t football. Stoke's anti-football is also a disgrace to football, I thought I was on the wrestling when i turned it on.

P.S. If Baliotelli can get a retrospective ban then so can Huth, but because it was against Liverpool, Huth'll get a slap on the wrist.

  36. Fowler9 is sadly the rule these days rather than the exception. Football fans will condone any form of cheating if it means their team wins. Pathetic really.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What does Tornike's character have to do with Suarez diving? Absolutely nothing. Just because most players dive we should all just accept it? Nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's October; things don't change in 2 months. Jeez, why is that so hard for some fans to accept? I'm going to be behind Rodgers until progress on the field turns into regression/stagnation and I see no signs of that yet.

As for FSG -if they don't back Rodgers in the January transfer market then they will be added to my shit-list, alongside Luis Suarez and Glen Johnson ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. good thanks for having me back ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree that the Suarez's dive was pathetic. But.. when you consider that it came nearly at the end of a game in which he was being butchered, you cannot blame him entirely for taking a tumble for his own protection, even though he never gets that.

Throughout the game, Suarez stayed on his feet for most of the time, even after many rough challenges. Yet you, like Tony Pulis, only want to talk about 1 incident after his temperament understandably boiled over.

What Suarez did was wrong. However, like many other players who feel that the referees do not protect them, he took a dive to try and cancel one wrong (the referee's anti-footballing decisions) with another wrong. (the players' diving)

In the context of what happened during the match, Suarez's decision was not shameful, only pathetic. However, it would have been shameful had he been doing that the whole game without provocation. (like Drogba, Busquets and Young)

Referees need to cooperate with players just as much as players need to cooperate with the referees. It was clear that Suarez was constantly being targeted by different players yet the referee took a lenient approach. 6 Stoke players booked despite the referee being lenient is very telling of how mistreated Suarez must have felt throughout the match. An hour and a half of physical assault would drive nearly any person to fight back and hit below the belt.

  41. jaimie were not saying welcome cheating but its a fact of life its been around since football began lfc players do not do it more than any other club my lad plays academy and schoolboys for his city and some of the sides you see are profesionals its a sad endikment but a think the academys are to blame

  42. Common Jamie even u have to admit that we have enough good players to b above teams like W Brom, Sunderland, everton, W Ham

    ReplyDelete
  43. Suarez does dive, but I think in modern football, most players are coached to do so. half the tackles that go in are not strong enough to take out a 13 to 14 stone athletic person but they go down like a bag of sh.te. They all do it for the good of the team. because most players who do dive never get to take the pen, so what benefit personally do they get out of it? football in general is becoming a farce, and it will crash and burn because the fans will wise up soon enough and not pay to see over payed tossers not doing what they are supposed to do, and play with integrity, rather than con the fans and call it gamesmanship.

    ReplyDelete
  44. That is a new excuse for Luis I must say, 'a tumble for his own protection'. When he bit that guy, I wonder if he had the same excuse.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Todays defeat, lack of goals, I put squarely at the door of FSG, and their lack of interest/investment in the transfer market. Before we hear from the "Dalglish spent badly brigade", thats last years news, we all knew on transfer deadline day, that FSG took the equivalent of a dive. So diving is rampant in the LFC organisation, why highlight Suarez. I believe Suarez position is becoming untenable, he cannot continue to play in this Country where there is a concentrated movement against him. At every opportunity he is criticised by everyone. Managers, Players, Media, even some so called LFC fans, if were him, I would be packing my bags for other foreign shores, where he may stand a chance of getting a fair deal on and off the pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  46. As a Stoke fan I think Liverpool lacked cutting edge. Suarez dive was laughable and he should have been booked. Stoke just about deserved the draw and could easy have won the game if they'd taken the two first half chances. Liverpool are a shadow of former selves and I think top 8 is as good as it gets this season. Stoke played to their strengths as you'd expect. Not sure Rodgers is the man for you.

However, Liverpool should be good enough to beat these thugs anyway.

  50. Dear Mr. Pulis and "that" team that thinks is playing football but it is actually a rugby team:
Have you no shame Sir??? or do you need to have your eyes checked?? Where was your outrage when Suarez was pushed and kicked?? Where was your voice calling the FA to action when another player actually stood on top of Luis Suarez chest???? If Luis Suarez would have done that, stomping on another player.... He would have gotten a red card, probably banned for life.... and the video would be playing in every media outlet over, and over, and over, and over and over ...again... It would have been "breaking news"... all the nukes of the world would have been pointing towards Uruguay...
Your commentary is absolutely disgusting and bias.... Every football game I watch, every one of them has one player diving ... every team, every time. Why picking on Suarez?
I am so sick of it!!! If a player complains to the ref, he goes "oh come down come down" if Suarez does it, "YELLOW CARD"...if Suarez goes down is DIVING, but if another player does it, "oh so funny trying to get a PK on that...!" If a player kicks the field microphone, "oh he is just celebrating so funny" if Suarez does it, "OMG the lack of education and ..and he should be banned for life!" SEE A TREND HERE??? Ugh!!!

  58. Tony Pulis berates Suarez for diving and putting the referee under pressure from 40,000 Liverpool fans, yet, in saying that he knows he is seeking to do exactly the same to the Video Review Panel hoping they will not invoke a post match 'Red Card' on stamper Huth.

By 'diving' Suarez did not cause any hurt to another player but forced the referee to do what he is paid for -make a decision under pressure. I abhor diving but until the dinosaurs who regulate football get their house in order and establish a live match video review panel to advise the referee on ALL contentious decisions the referee stands alone.

It is not expensive to have three video referees view an array of TV pictures from match cameras. When any one on the panel questions the legitimacy of a refereeing decision he simply punches the Review button which lights an Amber light for all spectators to know a review is underway. The match will continue until the Amber goes out or is replaced by a Red. In the event of a Red appearing the referee will be told by wireless link to his headphone what has happened and where it took place. A Red light will appear when 2/3 of the panel want the referee to change his decision. The Live Refereeing Video Review Panel will be selected by match referees and he will be assessed by their collective decisions.

In the Liverpool v Stoke City match as a member of such a Video Review Panel you will not be surprised to learn I would have advised the referee to issue a Red Card to Robert Huth for stamping on Suarez and a Yellow Card to Suarez for simulation.

Please avoid these unending right/wrong refereeing decisions and allow us to enjoy a football game.

I have little doubt Robert Huth will subsequently be banned for three matches by the FA Video Review Panel (for violent conduct) and teams not involved with his misdemeanour will benefit rather than the team transgressed.

    ReplyDelete
  59. didn't see Suarez stamp on Huth, oh an the video is at the top of the article, on loop, where does Suarez grab his leg, I think you put the wrong glasses on. If the dive was to get 3 game ban, then to keep proportion Huth should get 10 game ban for dangerous play. Suarez's actions did not endanger anyone, Huth is just a thug.

    ReplyDelete
  60. that's the rub, we don't even benefit from any retrospective decision, Huth should have been red carded, can't even believe anyone can defend his actions. The officials once again got it wrong, Huth sent off could have made a massive difference to the outcome of the match..oh well thinking about it, probably not, were desperate for a clinical striker to put the icing on all that lovely football were now playing.

    ReplyDelete
  61. What or how are you going to measure progress, for me winning games is progress, no matter how pretty the football. I like the football we now play, but if we don't find a cutting edge or goals then the pretty football means nothing.

Take a closer look,is a dog eat dog world, everyone from every team always try to influence the ref for for getting an opposite player send off or being card, sports is a beautiful game but when positive appear there is always negative,HEY HEY no tackler no diver,no diver no tackler, good and bad always compliment each other.

  70. I had read so much about Suarez's “dive” before I saw the footage that I thought it must have been a really bad one (like Welbeck’s, Young’s or Valencia’s last couple of penalty decisions), but having had a look at it in this video, it looks as though the stoke player contacts his right foot as he tries to turn and puts him off balance. He then goes down to make sure the ref sees it and force him make a decision on the contact because, let's face it, no one wins a penalty decision unless they sprawl themselves on the ground these days, do they? Fair enough if you don’t think there was enough contact to warrant a penalty (although I honestly believe that Suarez thought there was enough contact to put him off balance as otherwise he wouldn’t have gone down) but to label him a disgrace is incredibly harsh especially with the multitude of players in the league who go to ground with no or completely manufactured contact and win penalties!

That said, it would have been better if he had stayed on his feet because in the current climate he will never get a penalty for a challenge like that, not when "Sir" Alex has decreed him a diver, and it has only added fuel to the fire to all the haters out there

    ReplyDelete
  71. yeah what do you mean plan accordingly, where extra body protection? get the ref to actually look at the play and the fouls? suso got taken out! suarez got stamped on? Johnson got once again taken out! and joe allen uld have got badly injured when a stoke player went in two footed. We hit the woodwork 3 times!!! what do you mean a win was never on the cards, playing long balls into the box was all they wanted to do after they realised if they dribbled the ball into stokes half they would probably get stabbed by huth! and once again the ref would pass it by....

    ReplyDelete
  72. drogba? buesquets? playing for the foul isnt diving, playing for the advantage were your on the byline and you kick it agaisnt the players legs so it goes out resulting in your throw in isnt illegal in the laws of the game so why is waiting untill someon kicks you then going down illegal, oh wait its not!!! he dived once in that game im sure every player has dived once...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Until Suarez stops the theatrics, the bad vibes will remain.
As far as Huth goes, he needs a retrospective ban as violent conduct is worse than diving.
Stoke's thugball is a disgrace to football and i would love for them to go back to where they belong-the championship. Pullis is a hypocrite, he wants luis banned but fails to mention the far worse actions of stoke.
after being kicked all game, im hardly surprised luis wanted to get his own back, he is an emotional character.

    ReplyDelete
  74. If they do bring an anti diving campaign and fine or suspend players then they have to do the same for the blatant fouls missed by referees because there have been some shocking non decisions ( for example Suarez against Norwich ) if players aren't getting fouls when they are fouls they they are going to dive to get fouls. Linesmen/Women or assistant referees to give them the correct name are giving less decisions and less help for the referees which is another area that needs addressing many wont even give a throw in without the ref making a decision first. Diving is a problem in the game but it will never stop until the correct decisions are made in the first place.

  76. Stoke City i hope your proud of yourselves? Tony pulis only knows one way too play its called kick your opponents into submission, your a disgrace how can you call yourself a proffesional manager this game was a farce. Huth should be banned for his actions on the pitch but the FA will yet again turn a blind eye its LFC, and ok I dont agree with Suarez diving but when your getting accused of it all the time why not? This blatant biasism by the FA Against our Club should be investigated into by an independent body? why havent LFC taken this further we can all see this his an injustice its every game we play, we`re not getting any decisions going our way anyone with a bit of common sense could see that the stompping by Robert Huth on Suarez was a Blatant "RED" card this cannot go on Im so infuriated how a referee linesmen and a fourth official could allow this dangerous thug too continue in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Oh I read it all but didn't feel the rest of the post justified the excuse in the paragraph although in your defence, it was a partial excuse ('cannot blame him ENTIRELY'). Alas, each to their own. Luis can't have it both ways, regardless of whether there was provocation or not, in my view.

Huth did inflict harm through very deliberate and intentional dangerous play and that is what the article is about, if you think Huth's actions were not worthy of red card, nor yellow nor free kick and Suarez dive is worth a 3 game ban you got your priorities and understanding of the game all wrong. Stoke with 6 yellow cards says it all about the game they play, see the same style in amateur Sunday pub league.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I saw Bale do a proper dive yesterday, at least Suarez had actually been fouled, it was his delayed antics that was laughable, but he had already been fouled at that point.

    ReplyDelete
  84. After watching the Leeds v Warrrington Rugby League Final and seeing them knock seven bells out of each other and no one flinch, dive or moan, I would love to put Bale and Suarez inside a scrum and they can find out what its like to be a real man.
I find football getting less and less enjoyable to watch these days with the cheating antics of players pretending they have been hit in the face by a sledgehammer, diving when not even closely touched.
Bring back the Tommy Smiths and Norman Hunters when men were men and football was enjoyable to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hi fellas, I'm a stokie and agree hutch is consistently the wrong side of physical, I don't know how he manages to get away with it to be honest. I'm glad the article highlighted Suarez diving also, it's not productive to pretend your team is whiter than white; there are usually genuine greivences for both teams in any football match.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Why do Liverpool want penalties? They nearly always miss them anyway. Their chances of scoring from the spot are only slightly better than Reina's chance of stopping one.

    ReplyDelete
  87. True mate, in work today were most of the blokes are Evertonians they are moaning about an offside goal by Wigan that clearly was and a very bad ref ie Kevin Friend, while all the Liverpudlians are moaning about the stamp, one die hard Liverpudlian who would cause a Liverpudlian to turn into an Evertonian, claims Suarez was clipped which I cannot believe.
The talk on a Monday morning was about how bad or good you played now it is overshadowed by talk of bad officiating and diving apart from last Monday when the talk was about how we beat the Yanks at the Ryder Cup, football wasnt even mentioned.

  88. Rogers, apparently, said he wasn't interested in the job and then took it. He said he'd be mad to get rid of Carroll and then did it. He said he'd replace him and then didn't. Hard to have much confidence in a manager who doesn't know what it feels like to win a home game. Next man in, I say. Not that it will make any difference, I admit. Wolves bossed Britain and went down. Leeds were giants but they went down. United went down ( what a great day that was ). Chelsea went down. Liverpool clearly are just a year or two away from the big drop. Maybe not such a a bad thing. At least they might win the odd game against a lower class of opposition. In the Premier nearly all defences are far too well organised for a team like Liverpool, with no class or imagination, to score goals against them.

  89. We've been in a phase of rebuilding since Souness took over.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Hilarious I love this GIF could watch it aaaaall day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Its the same reason we don't have pitchside camara's...football is fixed, has been for a long time and deep down every fan knows this,Thats why its always said (if at all)in a jokey way about dodgy decisions,Too much money involved for it not to be fixed, folk must be walking around in a blind haze if they can't see it still.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Alex fergie is a bigger disgrace, bullying and manipulating refs into making decisions...piece of trash.

    ReplyDelete
  93. They have managed to spin our worst start ever into a positive for most fans ,Seems most fans today support the owners and manager more than the essence of the club. Now thats what yer call masters of spin.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Sure Reina never saves penalties does he? (Countless CL games, Fa Cup, Carling Cup shootouts.)
I know you think you made a smart comment but it's cringeworthy.

    ReplyDelete
  95. LOL,Attack our only world class player?...nice to see the media bullshit is not lost on some.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Nice too see someone can use their own mind and not just submit to the deluded masses.

    ReplyDelete
  97. This is all just a continuation of last seasons witch hunt,It won't stop until Suarez has been driven out.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Jamie would'nt, apparantly....strange that.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I am sick to death of fans including some of ours conducting witch hunts against Suarez. Yes he goes down too easily sometimes - but he also stays on his feet often when he should go down and has paid the price for his reputation with some clear penalties not being given. Tony Pullis is a disgrace to football - his deflection of the Huth stamp and deliberate (cheating) targeting of younger players to intimidate them not with fair physical play but calculated violence has worked. His behaviour is the equivalent of a managerial verbal dive and just as bad for football as anything Suarez did. He and his team should be targeted by referees in the same way as they target Suarez, and Huth should receive a 3 game ban and red card for his assault on Suarez. But hey, guess what? Pullis calculated verbal assault on Suarez has deflected attention from his own teams far worse behaviour and the appalling officiating from Mason that accompanied it - all the media want to talk about is Suarez dive, not the things that really matter and the deliberate violence that could destroy a players career.
That's why I hate Stoke. Not because they're physical, unattractive and boring, but because their whole strategy revolves around cheating, on the pitch and off it.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Whys that?..So's he can't make your teams defence look daft with his silky skills?.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I suppose thats what happens when you help show up the police and government as bent and corrupt.

    ReplyDelete
  102. they play within the rules, they dont cheat they play hard and you know what you get with them and no use moaning afterwards they have kicked you off the park, if you play an alehouse team expect alehouse tactics, they do it 38 games a season, are happy to finish mid table and have a manager excellent in deflecting the critiscism thrown at them.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Brilliantly put,Liverpool football club need to persue this as its so blatant now its unreal...I still believe it has a lot to do with the disgraceful way the police and government handled hillsborough..they hate lfc for exposing them,That much is obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  104. bore bore bore...go back to your sky sponsered corrupt club.

    ReplyDelete
  105. JK will read the article later... but love the ".gif's" dude! Keep those coming...

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yep, boring and sterile when the same 11 knocked 5 goals past Norwich.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Stoke don't play within the rules, but they play a way that is not penalised. For years defenders have been getting away with shirt pulling, pushes in the box, elbows, deliberate blocking of keepers etc. Stoke know that these things go unpunished so their tactics employ those methods to the fullest.

Until referees start officiating correctly and punish these sorts of things, then frankly expect more players to start diving or go down easily.

    ReplyDelete
  108. As long as there have been rules in any sport, there has been cheating or in diplomatic terms, bending of the rules to get ahead. The fact is, he dived once in the game, but Huth took out Suarez at least 3 times, and shouldn't have had the chance to after the first time, if that is not cheating, I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yes, most players dive, so if managers did as Tornike suggested, we wouldn't have a league.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Our only world class player? Agger is world class, Gerrard although not at his best is still world class, Lucas, although injured, is world class.

    ReplyDelete
  111. How about you act like a proper Liverpool supporter and support the manager 110%. Do you realise that when Bill Shankly took over as manager way back when, we started badly under him too? Fans that don't support the players and manager 110% are a disgrace and not worthy of supporting our great club. We are meant to have the greatest fans in the world, after reading comments on here including yours, I doubt that.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yet we hit the woodwork 3 times...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jesus are you a Liverpool fan by the way? Do you not know that the owners and BR are starting from the beginning, just Man U had to under Fergie....We hae just started the season and things are not going amazing but we are playing better! Have you seen Newcastle V Man U yesterday? We out played Man U in most of that game and when you play Stoke they are hard to break down and sometimes right now we lack that cutting edge.....Give them sometime and as long as we do not go down which we will not then the next season we will get stronger and better players will be brought in ie some strikers...So please come on slow down and look at the big picture, to many of you Liverpool fans are not real ones, you are like Chelsea or Man City fans wanted it all not...:)

    ReplyDelete
  114. If you support the club, you support everything that it entails, manager and owners included. And the worst LFC team you have ever seen in your lifetime? You obviously weren't born before the early 90s then, because the Souness team was the worst LFC team in my lifetime

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm sorry, I refuse to be Man City and subsequently get fined when FFP comes in, do you not realise that the owners are looking towards that and that when that comes in, we will be in a worse position? Not to mention the indignity of buying the competition rather than working for it. LFC is a dignified club, what you are demanding denies us of that dignity.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Would they have easy won the game if the ref had done his job and sent Huth off at the very least? 6 yellow cards is quite frankly a disgrace, but if that's how you want your team to play football, then be my guest.

    ReplyDelete
  117. He can put his foot on either side of Suarez, he made a deliberate decision to bring his foot down on Suarez, therefore, that is a red card offense and at least a 5 match ban.

    ReplyDelete
  118. No, deliberately and intentionally stamping on a player's chest and potentially ending his career or worse is cheating at it's worst. And Pulis would be spot on if his team weren't a dirty team, being that they are and they are because of his tactics, his "crusade" is hypocritical

    ReplyDelete
  119. Wow pete, you need to take a breath and get some perspective fella!

    ReplyDelete
  120. The worst of it is, the referee isn't alone, he has 3 officials helping him in a game.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Huth is a disgrace, he should be playing rugby for all the stamping he does

    ReplyDelete
  122. There were no theatrics against Norwich, he just sat there bemused with the bad officiating.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Not just them two, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young to name a couple more.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Anyone remember an injury that a Young Arsenal player named Aaron Ramsey received, broke his ankle in fact, and which side was it against? Surprise surprise, Stoke.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Stamping on a player's chest is within the rules? Not last time I checked and btw, I'm a former ref myself, so follow the rules pretty obsessively.

    ReplyDelete
  126. As a former ref, we were always taught that benefit of the doubt always goes with the attacking side, however this is very rarely the case.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yeah. I do feel for referees a lot of the time. There's been many games where I've seen a live incident, screamed that it was/wasn't a penalty only to see on replays that I was wrong. We have the luxury of slo-mo replays from all angles. Having to make those decisions in a split second with players/fans/managers screaming is extremely difficult.

It isn't helped at all by players that know how to "play the system", but that is the nature of the game today it seems.

    ReplyDelete
  128. That's exactly what I thought as well. It's a shame that the game has come to the point where a player has to dive to make it a point that he wants the foul rather than the advantage or to draw attention to a lot of the rough play he (or his team-mates) has been receiving.

I also agree a lot with the last point you made.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Jesus Billy talk about great supporting.......You as so many are missing the point....It will take time, time you people who say you understand football but clearly don't, should give BR! Every team has moments like Sunday, Man City for one.....Jesus how a young manager going to take the next step, developed like so many excellent coaches/mangers have....Wake up Mr. Happy ams try and support your team...Jesus who needs enemies with the likes of you around....:)

    ReplyDelete
  130. So much passion for the game'n England. Seems passion overrides refs' and FA's judgement when they habour soft sports in their hearts for certain sides. This may explain why decisions by the FA and officials on the pitch are applied selectively. Are these officials for football or, is football for them?? This kind of mentality only stifles the game in England. Surely world class players like Suarez would prefer playing in Spain or Germany. Fans will be left equally frustrated.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I know it might sound like a conspiracy theory saying football is fixed and that the main reason why they are reluctant to introduce technology is to allow a corrupt free-reign, but I have come in contact with some apparently big-time ex-footballing agents from ex-Yugoslavia (do not really wish to specify the country) and have plenty of reason to believe that in the top echelon of football, there are aspects of the game which are fixed.

Most of the bets on such games (Premier League, Serie A etc..) are not on the result per se, but more on the amount of penalties given to certain teams, how and who player will get booked, who will get the first throw-in etc... Last season, when our players started receiving a lot of bookings for little to no reason I got really suspicious something was going on. With all the bans and injuries, that put some stress on our form.

The Serie A scandal in 2006 was supposedly on results being fixed, but looking back at those games, the results where mostly fixed by dubious penalties, 'oddly' given corners and throw-ins, and 'harsh' yellow & red cards.

By his own admission, one these ex-footballing agent told me that they stand to gain a lot by making certain players look good. This id done by awarding penalties for them to take among other things. When this works out well, the potential of move to a bigger club will increase and that's when agents get paid handsomely.

The bottom line is, a lot of people are making money illegitimately from football. The introduction of technology to weed this out will put these shady people out of business. I would not be surprised if the big-heads of football are protected in some form or another by these game riggers. Silvio Berlusconi, owner of A.C. Milan, owner of the largest private mass media sector in Italy and ex-Italian prime-minister, relied heavily and confided in the Mafia for protection.

With all the money there is right now in football, do not expect FIFA and UEFA to introduce technology which will jeopardise these illegal activities. They will come forward with legitimate reasons to do so as well. (eg. disrupt the flow of the game and thousand other rationalized excuses.)

    ReplyDelete
  132. Are you telling me if Suarez had dived and got a penalty it would be more cheating than they had done the entire match, stoke should of had a few sent off as usual and as its Liverpool it wont happen, if Suarez is going down normally after bad tackles and not getting them perhaps he feels the need to be more theatrical just to get what hes owed because i tell you 100% fact hes had less stonewall penos given to him than hes got by diving

    ReplyDelete
  133. Personly think if your behind the team you should be behind those two players who give it everything every match, johnson cant be blamed for bad covering but we have a clean sheet from that match!! a first!!!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Have to learn it quick then. It's pointless playing teams off the park if you can't put them away.

    ReplyDelete
  135. and don't forget, he also bullied Blair & Bush into going to war

    ReplyDelete
  136. Yet we stomach Suarez. Dignity? Hmmph.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Bloody hell, amazing what paranoia can do to people to justify the failures of their beloved

    ReplyDelete
  138. don't forget Stevie G but oh wait, he is one of ours, doesn't count.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Great, we have a expert here....because he said so.

    ReplyDelete
  140. By your name, I guess you don't like him for non-football reasons Saj....?

We "stomach" him because he gives his all and is an entertainer. And at £700-odd quid a year for a season ticket, I'd rather watch 11 Suarez's than 1 poncey Joe Cole......

    ReplyDelete
  141. It seems to me that referees approach a Stoke game knowing they are going to foul, and almost accept that as some sort of 'tactic'. They then adopt a sliding scale of severity to determine the punishment, so that it has to be a "professional" foul (only if it's "last man" though) or dangerously reckless to earn any form of censure. Anything 'mis-timed' doesn't warrant a yellow, because it's Stoke...

God. We're starting to sound like Arsenal fans now.....!!!!

    :(

    ReplyDelete
  142. Progress will be winning Two trophies, higher than 8th and a better Home record.

So. We're well on the way then........

    ReplyDelete
  143. If you think this is all made up, just read this MAIN STREAM media article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1210882/Football-legend-Matthew-Le-Tissier-admits-10-000-Premier-League-betting-scam.html

My post was by no means a defence. I was adding to what Paul observed with some facts and observations.

If you are going to call me a deluded fan because I made a post with little to no reference to LFC, whereby you ended up missing the main point that where there is huge amount of money involved, corruption is inevitable, than I think the educative system has deluded you in proper text analysing skills. For clarity's sake and to show you I am by no means paranoid, I have linked you to a MAIN STREAM media article as well. It just cannot get more obvious than that.

  144. Jamie i know you have rules about insulting other posters on here, but the poster Jcraig is clearly a retarded f**kwitt

    ReplyDelete
  145. I don't like him because of his theatrics, long before the Evra mess. B-b-b-b-but hold on, I log in here with a name that could be Asian, so that could mean that I don't like Suarez because of his alleged prejudiced behaviour, right? Talk about jumping the gun love. Is the 'G' at the end of your log in, is that because your a gangster or something? I know, sounds stupid right. That is what happen when one gets trigger happy all over a little log in name. That is just so archaic and caveman-like, that 'ah, he has asian name, so he must not like Suarez because of his alleged racism'. You probably could concoct whole thesis on my log in name I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  146. A swallow here and there does not make a summer, i.e., that story from the 90s does not wholly validate your claim that currently football is fixed, bit here and there yes I agree maybe but not necessarily generally or anywhere near as bad as you make out. Before you shout it out, too easy to just say 'just because we can't see it, doesn't mean its not happening', as one could shout out that hollow allegation at a lot of things. A few parts of the game of might be fixed (not a lot out there to prove the current game here is) but to imply/say the governing bodies/senior figures won't better the game, on the basis that it would hinder illegal activities, is just paranoid at this stage. Same too with your bit about the officiating in our games (love the bit about form by the way. Gave me a giggle), as you give very little to back it up. Apart from an example from ANOTHER DECADE and what goes in ANOTHER league, you have given absolutely nothing to the HERE AND NOW in this league, this country and in this time, as well as given nothing to back up your paranoid claim that. Going by your post, I certainly can't learn anything from you in improving my textual analysis that is for sure, apart from how to be a hypocrite over it (if that can be called an improvement that is. But probably is in your book(!)). Not nice having it thrown back at you is it. Childish. Rather stupid and silly when people throw around such childish jibes about people based on their education, especially when such people are allegedly ex-refs and are the equivalent of a bastion, in relation to the educative system.

I did not call you deluded but I understand you may link it with what I call you, which is paranoid. I use 'paranoid', in the sense that you are 'overly suspicious', which sounds less insulting, especially to the overly sensitive I guess. On the basis of how little you have given to conclusively back up your suspicions on current day football in England and your claim that the governing bodies don't want to better football because they don't want to hinder illegal activities, I think its a fair call to make that you are being paranoid over this.

Amazing how much rot, paranoia has caused at this club's fan base, all because we have done almost nowt in the last two decades.

    Anyway, I am done.

    ReplyDelete
  147. why people keep talking about diving when the referee can't had consistent opinion on dangerous tackle. Stoke damage the art of football... at least diving is an art..h/ever Suarez diving is too extreme..............

    ReplyDelete
  148. no one remembers bale diving on the weekend or when valencia dived against us or any other divers, they all dive suarez is not the only one fuckin jelous wankas

    ReplyDelete
  149. You have to admit that teams like Sunderland, Everton, West Ham have had longer to adapt to the style of play their manager likes to play, only West Brom has had the same amount of time as us and they have had a fluke start to the season.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Suarez, regardless of anything, is a Liverpool player, who on the turn is one of the best, if not the best in the world, is a world class player, yes he is theatric as you put it, but as a footballer, he is top class, and he is a Liverpool player, that is why we stomach him.

    ReplyDelete
  151. The fact is, that over the years, Stevie G has done it more often than Suarez, but Suarez is made the scapegoat

    ReplyDelete
  152. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and by no means have I called myself an expert, but I do have an understanding of the rules more than some fans. I consider myself as an intelligent fan, as Liverpool fans are supposed to be.

    ReplyDelete
  153. What is unforgivable is that the referee admitted that he saw the Huth incident and decided not to take any action. If he was out of position, that would be bad, but forgivable, but to see a blatant stamp and not to anything about it?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Perhaps the best solution would be to get the referees from another country, France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Belgium, there would be less bias and more objectiveness in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Suarez is made a scapegoat because of two reasons, he is foreign and he is a Liverpool player

    ReplyDelete
  156. Must say that this is the biggest load of rubbish I have read for a long while. Huth barely trod on Suarez who again looked like he had be crushed. Six yellow cards is a joke, pathetic decisions to give stoke players cards for Liverpool 'diving'. Oh you will be lucky to be in the top half of the table, never mind in Europe. You live so far in the past you have lost touch with reality. Suarez dived all game, he does it every game. He is a cheat, and a bad one at that. Take of those 70's tinted glasses for 5 mins.
