Another day, another midfielder linked with a move to Liverpool (!) This time, the Reds are reportedly interested in a January move for C.F. Pachuca playmaker Luis Montes, who is currently on loan at Club León.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are 'ready to move' on signing 26-year old attacking midfielder, who currently plies his trade in the Mexican first division.
With Montes in top form, Club León has taken the Mexico's Primera División by storm this season, and after a string of great result, they're now in third place on 24 points, 9 points ahead of Pachuca, the club that allowed Montes to go out on loan.
This is a great achievement for a club that spent the last 10 years languishing in the Clausura (Mexico's second division), and only achieved promotion back to the top division this year.
This is not the first time Liverpool have been linked with a player in Mexico's top division. Earlier this year, the Reds tried to sign Porto's Jackson Martinez, who played for Jaguares, and during the summer, Pachuca President Andres Fassi confirmed Liverpool's interest in midfield starlet Hector Herrara.
It seems that Mexico is a fertile scouting ground for Premier League clubs at the moment, and at this rate, it may not be long until Liverpool have a Mexican player on the books.

Any good players are welcome! Will be interesting who we will actually get in January.
ReplyDeleteIf we can get him he'll be a welcome addition.
ReplyDeleteJust like to say Jaimie, that we have not missed Kelly, and Wisdom for me will be a much better player that Kelly, however it's a nice problem to have.
I really think that Jack Robinson is the answer to our left back conundrum with Enrique seeming to have gone backwards.
Finally, I'll say this, if we continue to keep clean sheets between the Europa League and the Derby, JONES SHOULD RETAIN THE KEEPER'S POSITION.
I agree with you on Jones retaining the starting job for keeper. Reina needs to reinvent himself .
ReplyDeleteSo... another day, another tenuous link to a player that it's 99% guaranteed LFC have no interest whatsoever in.
ReplyDeleteIf I want made-up rumours I'll go to Goal.com or Tribalfootball.
Oh dear Jaimie... can't take a little bit of criticism!
ReplyDeletePrecious creature aren't you
Busy deleting comments yet again!!
ReplyDeleteDon't we scout Brazilian players ? I see a lot of Brazilian players playing for other clubs in Europe and doing well , 8 of them at Shaktar Donetsk ......
ReplyDeleteanother day another midfielder lol so true
ReplyDeleteDon't the players need to have played with the national team so many games before they get the work visa unless there's a good exemption? Luis Montes has never even been called for a training session with the Mexican National Team
ReplyDeleteno midfielders pls!
ReplyDeletewe should have signed jackson martinez when he was ready to leave, he scores so many goals for porto, and we have been linked several times with him ..
Whatever happened to the Marco Bueno deal?
ReplyDeleteThis guy is a good midfielder but liverpool needs a striker someone that could helo luis suares a fast striker becuase luis suarez plays at a fast speed and i think a good parther for suarez would be javier chicharito hernandez since he dont gett playing time with manu he would b perfect for liverpool
