Rodgers raves: 'Clever' striker with 80 goals in 3 years is a 'wonderful talent'.

Liverpool face a tough home game against Udinese in the Europa League tomorrow, and Brendan Rodgers believes that the Serie A club's star striker, Antonio Di Natale, could be a real threat.

In his pre-match press conference earlier today, Rodgers enthused:

"He [Di Natale] is a talent for sure.

"If you look he has wonderful ability and he's a real clever player.

"He scores goals, and we will have to pay attention to him.

"Every player wants to play at Anfield, and he will be a threat we need to control".

The Italian International may be 35 in a few weeks, but his goal record in Serie A is fantastic:

* 80 league goals in the last three seasons, averaging well over 20 per season each time.

* 109 goals/assists in the last 112 games for Udinese (how amazing is that!)

* This season: 3 goals in 4 games already.

Considering many believe that Serie A is the most difficult league in which to score goals, Di Natale's record is absolutely formidable.

Let's hope Liverpool's players don't underestimate Di Natale; he may be 34, but he's still a goalscoring machine. Indeed, he's scored most of his goals for Udinese between the ages of 31 and 34, which suggests he's getting better with age.

Di Natale was dropped for his team's 0-0 draw with Genoa on Sunday due to a row with one of his team-mates, but he's definitely back in contention for the Liverpool game tomorrow.

  3. I would think it'll be Carragher and Coates who'll be playing in the middle of defence so they'll have to play well, certainly better than they did in Switzerland two weeks ago. Di Natale is a clever player and a very good finisher and I'm sure he will be the main threat. Looking forward to seeing more of young lads play, will be a very different game to the one two weeks ago with a lot of these Udinese players until recently playing in the champions league so a good test of our young lads.

  4. Hope we play a strong team 2moro, if we can beat these, we are well on our way to getting out of the group stages, I really rate this Competition, only 2 Euro Competitions up 4 grabs, nice 2b the first UK team to take this title, as its a very very difficult one to win. I wont put it on our CV just yet though.

  8. I love Brendan but he worries me , he only seems interested
in strikers 5`7" or less . Michael Ngoo , is about 6`4" , so he
    has no chance .
