Liverpool face Leicester City today in yet another must-win Premier League game, and after 16 days of recovery time - plus Leicester being in managerial limbo - there's surely no excuse for anything but an LFC victory.
Ahead of the game, here is the confirmed team news:
* Neither Dejan Lovren nor Daniel Sturridge trained last week, with Lovren suffering from a knee injury, and Sturridge still afflicted by a mystery virus.
* On Saturday, the Liverpool Echo reported: "There was no sign of either Dejan Lovren and Daniel Sturridge [in Saturday's training session] with both likely to miss the game at the King Power Stadium".
* Leicester caretaker boss Craig Shakespeare on Leicester's injuries: "Islam trained with us on Thursday morning and came through the session. I'm expecting [him] to be fit".
Liverpool have no other injury worries, so Klopp will have a very strong and well-rested squad from which to choose. Be that as it may, this games is clearly a potential banana-skin.
Leicester are in dire form, but they're still able to field the likes of Mahrez, Vardy, and Drinkwater, all of whom are capable of having a major influence. Plus, with a new manager overseeing things (albeit briefly) Liverpool will probably have to contend with the dreaded (and often immediate) uptick in form that comes whenever a manager is replaced.
Liverpool are guilty of underestimating lower level opposition this season, and if the same thing happens at Leicester, the Reds will inevitably pay the price. Probable team:
--------------- Mignolet
Clyne --- Matip ---- Lucas ---- Milner
---- Lallana -- Hendo --- Wijnaldum
--- Mane ----- Firmino --- Coutinho
* Slimani: Cost Leicester £25m. Hailed by Claudio Ranieri as 'fantastic'
