One of Jurgen Klopp's top transfer targets has finally ended speculation about a move to Liverpool.
Over the last year, Liverpool have been regularly linked with a move for 'unbelievable' Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic, with the latest link coming in December, when The Independent claimed:
"Liverpool are set to step up their pursuit of Christian Pulisic now that Philippe Coutinho has been ruled out for up to six weeks".
Dortmund rejected an offer from Liverpool in August, and according to a statement on BVB's official website today:
"Borussia Dortmund have secured the long-term commitment of Christian Pulisic. The club has extended his contract until 2020".
Reacting to the new deal earlier, Pulisic enthused:
"I still have a lot to learn. Here in Dortmund are the best conditions for me. And here I have the chance to play in front of over 80,000 spectators. We have the best fans in the world - it can not be better."
I made the same argument many times in the past: Dortmund is a fantastic place develop, and there's no compelling reason for £30m-rated Pulisic leave such a well-run club at his tender age.
Dortmund have signed some top young players over the last year, including Ousmane Dembele, Emre Mor, and Alexander Isak (another Liverpool target), and with Pulisic now secured, it's clearly an exciting time to be a BVB fan.
