Done Deal: After transfer talks, Liverpool seal deal for 'fantastic' £20m attacker

One of Brendan Rodgers' flop signings has sealed a return to the Premier League.

According to BBC:

"Lazar Markovic has joined Hull on loan for the remainder of the season. Markovic agreed a loan with Sporting Lisbon for this season but it was cancelled by mutual consent.

Over the weekend, Portuguese newspaper Record claimed that Sporting are 'dissatisfied' with Liverpool attacker Lazar Markovic, and are ready to end the Serb's season-long loan spell, so this deal comes as no surprise whatsoever.

In October, ex-Red Neil Mellor suggested that Markovic will find it 'difficult to develop at Sporting Lisbon', and with just 2 goals/0 assists in 14 games for Sporting so far, that appeared to be the case. In my view, Liverpool should've sent Markovic on loan to a Premier League side in the first place, as playing in a tough, competitive league might've been better for his development.

Right now, Markovic looks like a massive transfer flop, but - being charitable - he is still only 22, and there's still a possibility that he can develop into a decent player for Liverpool.

Whatever happens, Markovic will hopefully steps things up in the second half of the season; he's in the shop window, and the Reds have little chance of recouping the £20m transfer fee if he's playing poorly and/or rotting on the bench.
