Sign for Liverpool? 'Excellent' €65m attacker wanted by Klopp confirms he's desperate for transfer

Liverpool target Julian Draxler has once again reiterated his desire to leave Wolfsburg ASAP.

According to The Telegraph today:

"Julian Draxler is is desperate to leave Wolfsburg next month".

In August, Draxler confirmed:

"I want to leave Wolfsburg [and] go to a top international club".

Soon after, Draxler's agent declared:

“He [Draxler] will definitely leave Wolfsburg. PSG offered €65m. I repeat: he will leave.”

Wolfsburg fans are understandably irate about the situation, but after being booed over the weekend, the German reiterated his stance:

"I can understand the fans. They have every right to do that [Boo]. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that."

Clearly, Draxler wants out, which obviously provides Jurgen Klopp with an opportunity to tempt him to Anfield. Some info about Draxler:

* 22-year old attacking midfielder, who can also play on either wing. Current contract expires: 2020.

* Wolfsburg: 50/50 split between playing on the wing (mainly left), and playing as a number-10.

* Schalke/Wolfsburg: 38 goals/37 assists (75) in 213 apps (Goal every 370 mins. G/A every 195 mins). 3 goals in 26 games for Germany.

* This Season: 0 goals/assists in 12 apps.

* Jun 2016: Michael Ballack's assessment: "Julian Draxler is an excellent player, but he also needs three or four meters of space to do his dribbling".

The idea of Draxler is appealing (tall, powerful German international), but his overall creative return is simply not good enough. Granted, he's only 22, but a goal every 370 minutes in the Bundesliga is average, and is not an upgrade on Liverpool's current attackers.

Plus, €65m+ is a total rip-off. Draxler cost £30m only a year ago, and he's arguably achieved little in the last twelve months to justify a 96% increase in transfer value.

Should Liverpool try and sign Draxler in January?
