Better Than Coutino? Lallana claims 'magnificent' €38m star is 'one of the best players' in the Prem

Adam Lallana has heaped praise on Liverpool team-mate Roberto Firmino.

Speaking to Sky Sports over the weekend, Lallana enthused:

"Firmino is playing that false nine for us and he's one of the hardest working players I've ever played with. There's a reason why he's one of the best players in the league".

With 12 goals/assists in 15 games so far this season, Firmino is doing a great job this season, but his momentum has stalled over the last three games, and it's now 270 minutes without a goal or assist.

The good news is that Liverpool's attack is firing on all cylinders this year, and with Lallana, Mane, Origi, Hendo et al in the squad, there are enough goals in the team to cover small barren periods and/or injuries.

The Bournemouth defeat is a prime example of that. Coutinho and Sturridge injured; Lallana on the bench; Firmino misfiring, but the Reds still scored three goals, which - on another day - would've been enough to win the game.

Is Firmino one of the best players in the league, though? I'm not so sure. Hard-working, yes, but I'd put him in the second tier of Premier League attacking players, just below the likes of Ozil, Aguero, Sanchez, Costa, Hazard, and even possibly Coutinho.

* Firmino: €38m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). Hailed last month as 'magnificent' by Phil Thompson
