Nightmare for Klopp: 'Brilliant' €44m Liverpool star has 'ligament damage'; will miss Middlesbrough game

The injuries continue to pile up, and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that two more of his players face spells on the sidelines.

Speaking to reporters today, Klopp revealed the extent of Emre Can's injury:

“It’s painful. I never heard about this ligament, but it’s a little bit damaged. He [Can] is in doubt for Wednesday, but I think Everton he will be back for sure".

In my view, Can is not integral to Liverpool's starting XI, but niggling issues like this affect the overall depth of the squad, and with the busy Christmas schedule coming up, Klopp's squad is looking increasingly thin.

Dejan Lovren also picked up an injury against West Ham, and if it turns out to be a hamstring injury (as Klopp hinted at during his post-match press conference), then he will probably miss several games over the Christmas period.

On the plus side, this should (in theory) give Ragnar Klavan another chance to stake his claim...unless, of course, Klopp ignores him and plays a central midfielder in his place (again).

With no European football to worry about, injuries shouldn't really matter than much, but there are obvious imbalances in the squad (which Klopp failed to address in the summer), and these are now coming to the fore.

Who is going to get injured next...?
