Liverpool have today confirmed that one of the Academy's most exciting attackers has signed a new contract with the club.
According to the a statement on LFC's official website:
"Ben Woodburn has committed [his] futures to Liverpool FC by signing a long-term contract with the club".
Reacting to the news, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp raved:
"This is really positive news of course. Ben is in those earlier stages and has a lot of developing to do still -- but wow, what an exciting talent he is".
Woodburn's response:
"Very happy to sign my professional contract with Liverpool".
Some info about Woodburn:
* 16-year old attacker, who can play as a striker, or a left/right winger. 9 goals/assists in 8 games for the U23s this season. Current deal expires: 2019
* Part of Liverpool's 'Futures Group' - a selection of the best Academy players who train once a week under the guidance of first-team development coach Pep Lijnders.
* After a recent goal for the U23s, Neil Critchley enthused: “That was a moment of brilliance. An unbelievable piece of skill. He [Woodburn] was outstanding again, and it's a delight to work with him".
* Scout assessment of BW: "Liverpool have their successor to Fowler and Owen. Woodburn is a natural goalscorer, shows maturity beyond his years and is very quick. If he bulks up, he could be a gem who reaches first-team football".
