Anfield Update: Liverpool attacker admits he tries to 'play' like 'exciting' £40m superstar

Liverpool youngster Bobby Adekanye has revealed his admiration for one of Europe's most effective attacking players.

When asked this week to name his footballing idol, Adekanye - who recently recovered from serious ankle ligament injury - told the Liverpool Echo:

“Arjen Robben. I’ve always liked his style and I try to play like him. He’s exciting and makes football a joy to watch. Plus, he’s a winner and has a lot of medals. It’s because of him that the No.11 is my favourite.”

I have to agree - Robben makes football a joy to watch...when he isn't diving and/or falling over at the slightest touch (which is 90% of time). Some info about Adekanye, who joined the Reds from Barcelona in the summer of 2015:

* 2014: One of 10 Barcelona young players banned by FIFA after being illegally signed.

* Played for Ajax's youth teams until 2011, which means he was at the Dutch club at the same time as ex-Red Luis Suarez.

* On meeting Suarez: "He was in first team at the time and I got a photo with him. So it was a great day, my first experience of being at a big match, and that gave me a taste of what football could be like if I could make it.”

*

* Jun 2015: Represented Holland at UEFA’S youth development under-16 tournament.

* Jul 2015: Neil Critchley's assessment: "Bobby can play either side and he’s really quick with the ball. He can shift the ball from a standing start and create space in two or three yards, which makes him very dangerous".

Potential first-teamer in the future?
