Injury Nightmare: 'Excellent' Liverpool attacker ruled out for 6-8 weeks with stress fracture

Sheyi Ojo is on the comeback trail after suffering a stress fracture over the summer, but just as he's recovering, another Academy attacker has suffered the same injury.

According to the Liverpool Echo:

"Adam Phillips has been diagnosed with a stress fracture [and] is ruled out for 6 to 8 weeks. He'll then have another scan to determine if the fracture has healed".

Some info about Phillips:

* 18-year old midfielder, who's a regular in Liverpool's U23 squad.

* Description on the LFC website: "Phillips has an excellent passing range, loves taking free-kicks and is also capable of scoring spectacular goals".

* Jul 2015: Played 45 minutes of Liverpool's first pre-season game against Brondby. Subsequently selected for the Reds' pre-season tour of the USA.

* Jul 2015: Brendan Rodgers' assessment: "Adam Phillips has been excellent. He’s 16 years of age but...if a player is performing well and he’s young, he will play".

Luckily, it's a stress fracture, and not *shudder* a full-blown break, which means Philipp's burgeoning career will not face too much disruption. It's still a set-back for him, though, but if he's mentally strong enough, it shouldn't be an issue.
