Klopp admits: £60k-a-week Liverpool star was 'very, very bad' but now he's 'outstanding'. Start Saturday?

Loris Karius finally made his competitive debut for Liverpool last night, and delivered a solid performance as the Reds comfortably dispatched Derby County 3-0.

Karius has come a long way since his inauspicious start at Mainz, and according to Jurgen Klopp this week:

“I saw his way, from a very, very bad start at Mainz when nobody really wanted him, to an outstanding goalkeeper. That’s what I was interested in. He’s a really good goalkeeper".

The question is, has Karius done enough to oust Simon Mignolet for this weekend's Premier League clash with Hull City?

It's hard to judge on the basis of one performance, but to be fair, Derby didn't put any real pressure on Karius, and forced the German into action on just two occasions (easy saves from weak headers).

Karius also had a Mignolet moment in the second half, when he came for punch and totally missed it, which almost presented Derby's Richard Keogh with a gilt-edged chance.

A clean sheet is a clean sheet, though, it's only Liverpool's second of the season (all competitions), so that has to count for something. Mignolet beware?

* Reportedly on £60k-a-week.
