Liverpool have four strikers vying for a start in tonight's EFL clash with Derby County, but according to Reds fans, there's only one choice for the role.
On Monday, Jurgen Klopp confirmed:
"Roberto is in training. The medical department told me if I gave him three days he would be perfect. Today is the fourth day, so he is in [for Derby]”.
Firmino has played as a striker many times for Liverpool, and with Sturridge likely to sit out the game - and Klopp insisting that he'll play a 'strong team' tonight - the chances are that the Brazilian will start against Derby.
If that turns out to be Klopp's decision, it won't be a popular choice. I conducted a poll on Monday asking fans who should start up-front tonight, and the result were as follows:
* Ings: 58%
* Origi: 32%
* Firmino: 6%
* Sturridge: 4%
Klopp constantly praises 'wonderful' Ings for working 'really hard', but actions speak louder than words, and playing competitive matches is the only way Ings is going to get match-fit. As such, tonight's game represents a great opportunity to bring the striker in from the cold.
I'm not Ings' biggest fan, but like all players, the £20m-rated striker deserves a chance to show what he can do, and I'm interested to see if he can consistently deliver the goods in Klopp's system.
