Over the summer, Liverpool were regularly linked with a move for Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic, and new reports today suggest that Inter still want to sell Croatian playmaker.
In July, Gazetta Dello Sport claimed:
"Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing Marcelo Brozovic, and Inter Milan will sell if they receive an offer of €25m".
According to Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato today:
"Brozovic could leave after Inter stopped negotiations due to behaviour problems. Juve still want him, but Inter would prefer to sell him abroad in the January window".
Obviously, Inter are wary of strengthening a direct rival, and if they'll only sell abroad, then Liverpool (in theory) have a great chance of signing a quality international player.
That said, Brozovic's goals/assist return is middling at best, and is certainly no upgrade on Lallana, Coutinho, or Henderson. Additionally, as noted in Four Four Two's scouting report:
"Versatile midfielder who can be used in a number of roles – central midfield, defensive midfield, attacking midfield and on the right flank".
The last thing Liverpool need is yet another 'Jack of all Trades' who doesn't excel in any one position.
Brozovic is currently a bit-part player at Inter, and he's slowly being frozen out by new boss Frank De Boer. Should Liverpool pursue him during the January transfer window?
^ Nicknamed the 'Croatian Xavi'. Hailed by Roberto Mancini for his 'incredible quality'
