Anfield Surprise? Aldo urges Liverpool to replace Firmino with 'sensational' £41m attacker for Man Utd clash

After three straight league wins, Liverpool go into Wednesday's historic Europa League clash with Manchester United on the crest of a (mini) wave of momentum, but despite the good results, Anfield legend John Aldridge has called for Jurgen Klopp to make some big changes for the game.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo today, Aldo mused:

"Sturridge and Coutinho should return against United [with] Sturridge in place of Origi and Coutinho replacing Lallana or Firmino".

Sturridge for Origi is a no-brainer, and by Wednesday, he should be fit fit and raring to after ten clear days of recovery time.

'Sensational' Coutinho should also start the game, but at the expense of Firmino?

No chance. If someone has to make way, it should be Lallana, who is far less prolific than the Brazilian, who is on fire for Liverpool in 2016.

Firmino has an excellent record in the league (16 goals/assists in 25 games/one every 98 minutes), but for whatever reason, his record in cup competitions (1 goal/assist in 11 games) is poor.

As such, it's possible that Lallana - whose Cup record is marginally better - may get the nod. There's also the possibility of playing all three together: Lallana and £41m-rated Coutinho behind Firmino, but Sturridge will surely come back into the team for such a massive game.
