Redknapp raves: 'Genius' £29m attacker wanted by Liverpool is 'Player of the Season'. Agree?

With 26 goals/assists this season, Leicester City star (and alleged Liverpool target) Riyadh Mahrez has taken the Premier League by storm this year, and according to ex-Red Jamie Redknapp, the 24-year old attacker is one of the best players in the the league.

When asked on Sunday whether £29m-rated Mahrez is the Prem's 'player of the Year' Redknapp told Sky Sports:

"I think he [Mahrez] is. He a genius, and there are only a few player who possess his quality".

Vardy and Mahrez have 51 goals/assists between them already this season, which is a Suarez/Sturridge level of prolificity, and both have to be in the running for 'Player of the Year'.

Both were also (predictably) been linked with January transfers to Liverpool, and based on this season's results, the coveted duo are clear upgrades on several players in Jurgen Klopp's squad.

Roberto Firmino is the closest Liverpool have got to a Mahrez-type player, but when it comes to actual end product, Mahrez has left the Brazilian in the dust (though Firmino is proving to be a good signing in his own right).

Mahrez appeared to have picked up an injury at the weekend, but I hope it's not serious as I'd love to see him (and vardy) fire Leicester to the Premier League title. What a glorious and anarchic possibility.

If Leicester win the league, it'll send shockwaves through the English game, but best of all, it'll represent a giant f**k you to the so-called 'big clubs', and to the characterless cabal of metrosexually meek, grossly overpaid Millenials masquerading as players, who continually fail to justify their obscene wages, and ludicrous price tags.

Go Leicester!
