Confirmed LFC XI vs. NUFC: €18m star dropped as the BR kiss of death strikes again

The Brendan Rodgers kiss of death strikes again! Despite being showered with praise for his midweek performance against Swansea, Fabio Borini is - as expected - back on the bench for today's Premier League game with Newcastle.

FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Johnson, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli

SUBS: Jones, Toure, Manquillo, Lallana, Can, Lambert, Borini

Newcastle: Krul, Janmaat, S.Taylor, Coloccini, Dummett, Sissoko, Abeid, Colback, Obertan, Cisse, Ameobi

In his pre-Newcastle press conference, Rodgers hailed Borini's Swansea performance as 'outstanding', and waxed lyrical about the striker's contribution to the game, fuelling speculation that the €18m-rated Italian may start today's game.

Well, as usual, whenever the manager praises someone to the hilt in a pre-match press conference, it usually means that the bench beckons, and i recent months, Coutinho, Sterling, Lambert, and Lallana have fallen foul of this trend.

Still, it's the right decision - there's no room for Borini in the starting line-up, and it's a good decision to start Sterling and Coutinho ahead of him. probable formation:

Mignolet
Johnson --- Lovren -- Skrtel ---- Moreno

----------- Gerrard - Allen

Henderson ------ Coutinho --- Sterling

---------------- Balotelli

My prediction: 3-2 Newcastle

  1. Hope LFC wins 3-1..... Balo needs to strike plus prefer 2 strikers as LFC needs it.

  2. Not really a surprising team. Lallana can come on and change things, as can Lambert. It's very predictable stuff from Rodgers and why not? Liverpool don't need to be surprising, they just need to start getting things right.

This will all come down to early pressure and if Liverpool can convert pressure into goals. I can see them having plenty of possession and going hard at Newcastle but if the defence can absorb that and not concede within the first half hour then it will get harder.

No idea what will happen in this game. Liverpool need to lift substantially to be assured of the result. Otherwise it's a total lottery.

  3. Newcastle going to destroy us at set pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Rodgers again trying to get the same out of Balotelli as he did with Suarez by again playing Balo up on his own.

    Broken record...

    ReplyDelete
  5. We needed 2 strikers but at least markovic ain't in the squad. And rightly so forh his poor form. A £20m winger who has failed to score or create and also wastes oppurtunutiy. Mediocre player. Can't wait till Suso comes back, markovic sso useless. Worst signing of the pack

    ReplyDelete
  6. I maintain my theory that something has changed behind the scenes. Last year, Brendan always got the team right for every game we played but so far he has got the team right in one of our games. We have only played ONE game with our best team on form. That is unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I said very early on that it would take time for Mario to learn his role in the team. I'm not entirely sure why people are surprised. Yes, we would like him to do better but it seems totally obvious to me that he would need to change his game, at least a little, in order to be successful. Didn't you think the same?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Might work better though with the support of both coutinho and a rested sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rodgers needs spectacles.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Too early to say he is useless imo. Players from different leagues sometimes take a season to get up to speed and he's young.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh thank God, no Michael Owen

    ReplyDelete
  12. Lucas not even on the bench? He was better than Henderson against Swansea, and better at DM than Gerrard against, well, most teams.

And I hope Sterling is back in form.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not quite sure what formation we're playing but I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. We are so predictable it is actually becoming a joke to watch us play.

    ReplyDelete
  15. joe allen is pathetic..cant pass at all..good that he s starting today..hopefully emrr can starts againsy madrid

    ReplyDelete
  16. Our midfield looks quite static. Can't expect cute triangles from the middle if they aren't moving into space when we're on the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Imagine Sakho had made that pass that Lovren just made...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Johnson-Skrtel-Lovren as a back three. Ha ha Rodgers clearly has lost his marbles.

gerrards making me hope liverpool dont offer him a contract
so slow the play and he is partly to blame

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah what's up with the long balls? Henderson is also nowhere to be seen.

    ReplyDelete
  23. joe allen is pathetic..hw is he even given a thought of being compared with xavi.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:07 pm, November 01, 2014

henderson has never looked this bad

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can't recognise Henderson these last few games. It's like he's returning to Dalglish era mode.

    ReplyDelete
  28. saving my eyes for better things... im out

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:10 pm, November 01, 2014

    hendo gerradc allen out
    borini lallana can in

    ReplyDelete
  30. Stick around. Newcastle's about to make a substitution.

Not sure what that's going to do to our midfield, but we live in hope.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK, Honestly tell me this.. Which PL team will have Glen Johnson in their team.. Unacceptable..

    ReplyDelete
  32. Half time change = Get Rodgers some spectacles. He cannot see what is happening on the pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This won't get any better

    ReplyDelete
  34. i really dont know what fans see in henderson to expect so much from him. this is as good as he can ever get.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I maintain some backstage politics is going on. All of us can see this is not working and one does not become delusional overnight..

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm a huge Rodgers fans and always advocate that managers be given as much time as they need but this is ridiculous. Of course, there's still time for us to win and at least we haven't conceded yet.

    Touch wood.

    ReplyDelete
  37. the front 3 r pressing more than midfield 3

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:15 pm, November 01, 2014

  39. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:16 pm, November 01, 2014

football is getting spoiled with all these soft free kicks

    ReplyDelete
  40. its like we are playing in slow motion gee so frustrating

    ReplyDelete
  41. rodgers taking notes during a game is a sham

    ReplyDelete
  42. Planning his takeaway

    ReplyDelete
  43. We are waiting for Newcastle to score just like we have done in most matches with the other teams.

    Just pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:19 pm, November 01, 2014

    sterling playing so right
almost a right wing back when he is best upfront

    uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    ReplyDelete
  45. No variation always looking to Sterling!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:20 pm, November 01, 2014

    why si sterling so right
his best game come in the centre

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think most people on in here need to grow up to be honest. Get some perspective honestly. It's like you are sitting there waiting to savage the team. From what i have seen we have largely bossed the game. Yes, no clear cut chances but we are working our way into tne game. Jesus

    ReplyDelete
  48. not even a shot on goal

    ReplyDelete
  49. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:21 pm, November 01, 2014

look hendo and allen have never played this bad
balotelli has been our best player actually

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yea sign him we need divine intervention

    ReplyDelete
  51. Rodgers...4231 DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING AT!!???

    ReplyDelete
  52. It is not about savaging the team. It is about a manager who is being to arrogant for his own good.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:23 pm, November 01, 2014

    exactly
    borini should have started

    ReplyDelete
  54. grow u!? I thought u where out?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I guess to create space in the middle. Hendo last season would have made the most of it!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sick of Mignolet.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:23 pm, November 01, 2014

    we are playing 3-3-3-1

    ReplyDelete
  58. Skrtel and Lovren laughing stock.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sick of defender who do not know how to defend set pieces either.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Good block by Glen

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am sick of any formation with a lone striker.

    ReplyDelete
  62. They are passing waaaaaaayyyy too f***ing slow. Way too slow. This is pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:26 pm, November 01, 2014

its allen gerrad and hendos fault

    ReplyDelete
  64. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:26 pm, November 01, 2014

take vice captiacy of hendo give it to skrtel

    ReplyDelete
  65. Have you seen us at set peices. Come on Jaime.

    ReplyDelete
  66. once the ball gets to the midfield is like everything is frozen

    ReplyDelete
  67. Balotelli has had great service, I must say! We're far too creative.

    ReplyDelete
  68. we need 2 up front!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. JOHNSON CAN F*** OFF.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Up-vote for the sarcasm. Bet Balo gets the most criticism from Carra after the match, though.

    ReplyDelete
  71. That's BR master stroke when 15min to go and we need a goal

    ReplyDelete
  72. Thanks for seeing right through the sarcasm

    ReplyDelete
  73. No team worries about us any more everybody expects to beat us

    ReplyDelete
  74. On the plus-side, the clean sheet is still intact

    ReplyDelete
  75. what a disgrace this team is. they can f*** off back home. wanks.

    ReplyDelete
  76. its like one step forward 2 steps back

    ReplyDelete
  77. so f*(*&^* slow

    ReplyDelete
  78. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:34 pm, November 01, 2014

    hey support the team
even if we are the worst team in the world

    ReplyDelete
  79. True! My main concern is Sissoko he's playing like a beast on heat!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I am so angry because I do support the team. This is bulls***. Absolute bulls***. Rodgers has been absolutely clueless thus far this season. I don't know what the hell he's trying to achieve.

    ReplyDelete
  81. sterling doesnt contribute anything from the flanks..switch him n coutinho

    ReplyDelete
  82. Come on Man.. This is such a joke. I do not have words to say. Nothing about Glen Johnson or anything. I am just speechless..

    ReplyDelete
  83. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:36 pm, November 01, 2014

    so my changes
    bring on borini for henderson
can for allen he is getting bullied
    ..........................................................balotelli..........borini
    .......................................................................sterling
    ....................................................can............................coutinho
    .....................................................................gerrard

i would take of gerrard for lallana but gerrard can never be dropped

    ReplyDelete
  84. He is playing like our midfielders should be. Always thought he was good!

Emre Can for the second half, maybe? And in place of who (because Gerrard and Henderson can't be substituted)?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Good luck if you think that is going to happen..

    ReplyDelete
  86. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:38 pm, November 01, 2014

    what do you propose ?

i think a managerial change will shake things up right now it seems rodgers just plays his favorite players
chelsea always do it when thing break down thats why their so successful

    ReplyDelete
  87. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:38 pm, November 01, 2014

    but it should happen?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I propose that Rodgers pull that butt plug out of his arse and get the team back to what they do best.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:39 pm, November 01, 2014

Rodgers treatment of borini has been shocking this is pure bullying
    like avb with adebayor
rodgers if you aint gonna be fair to our players why should the fans be fair to you?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Here we go, he comes the lectures from atop the towers of morality

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ok. Enough.. I hate this nonsense on commentary.. Everytime we play sh!t, the commentators are like " Oh, but they lost Suarez and Sturridge and it was always going to be difficult". Enough with the excuses.. Losing two strikers does not make the players forget how to pass or kick like weaklings.. We are plain rubbish. No excuses.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I thought it was nil nil. Did i miss something?

    ReplyDelete
  93. My team for the 2nd half

    Mignolet
    Manquillo Toure Lovren Moreno
    Gerrard
    Hendo Allen
    Sterling
    Borini Balotelli

    ReplyDelete
  94. Obviously. Ever since the AV game, we have called for two strikers but it has never happened.. So why start now..

    ReplyDelete
  95. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:40 pm, November 01, 2014

yes but 90% of what the team does best
came from 2 great wise men
    STURRIDGE AND SUAREZ

look at luis enrique doing wonders with messi and neymar when he is an average manger

    ReplyDelete
  96. It's not just Borini, either.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Poor poor performance so far...

Balotelli and Sterling cannot see any of the ball. Why play Sterling out wide on the right when we all know he plays better in the mid?

Why play Balo by himself AGAIN?!

Coutinho, as usual, is struggling on the left wing. Play him centrally.

We need 2 up front with a diamond behind.

No one from the bench can come in and make a difference.

BR sort it out and stop being stubborn.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yes.. It is nil-nil and we are playing like we are 5-0 down. I have not complained like the others till now but Brendan himself saw the effects of two up top when Balotelli instantly scored. He downright neglected it. No energy and no urgency.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:42 pm, November 01, 2014

Balotelli congratulations you have been the only player that has been decent
deserves an apology after all the stick i gave him last week

    ReplyDelete
  100. i rather hav sturridge injured for longer time than him come n cover their weaknesses..let everyone learn to play

    ReplyDelete
  101. IN OUT
    Borini Sterling
    Lallana Allen

    ReplyDelete
  102. We need to make 2 changes at the back. Johnson and Skrtel off, Manquillo and Toure on leaving us with one attacking sub which would be Borini for Coutinho.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Guess i have a higher patience threshold. Haha

    ReplyDelete
  104. Liverpool will certainly lose against Madrid , probably against Chelsea but ffs this is Newcastle ,what a lineup Allen & Johnson = crap we all know that, the others are not lighting up the pitch either, BR is clueless and based on the 1st half we don't deserved anything from the game unless something dramatically changes in the 2nd half

    ReplyDelete
  105. we just cant get passed the midfield when we attack

    ReplyDelete
  106. Let's see if Carragher agrees with you after the match.

I, for one, am upset with Balotelli for not dropping back into midfield and dragging a centre-back with him, winning the ball off someone and then lobbing it into the vacant space before hurtling forward to latch on and chipping over the 'keeper.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I don't normally criticise individual players and I thought Mig might just be lacking a bit of confidence then he tries a Cruyff turn having previously come for ball and completely missed it.

Clearly it's not confidence he just is not good enough

    ReplyDelete
  108. we used to move the ball so quick its like we are lost now

    ReplyDelete
  109. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:46 pm, November 01, 2014

no connection between midfield and defense

pass it pointlessly at the back 20 times then put a long one up field to sterling or corner flag

    ReplyDelete
  110. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:46 pm, November 01, 2014

    no spice up front

    ReplyDelete
  111. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:46 pm, November 01, 2014

    sas created space for everyone

    ReplyDelete
  112. The midfielders dropped off to help out the defenders. Our build-up play was the best. But throughout this match, I have only seen Skrtel and Lovren pass to each other.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I almost had kittens when he did that

    ReplyDelete
  114. I almost had puppies and I am a male Boxer.

    ReplyDelete
  115. There would prob be an article written before full time explaining how much of a liability he is. Yet, all I here is "goal scoring Skrtel and 20 mill Lovren need time to form a partnership"

    ReplyDelete
  116. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:48 pm, November 01, 2014

why is lovren almost asked to play lb
    and johnson at cb

    this is madness

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yup. That's how I saw it, too.

But at least it's a version of possession football.

    ReplyDelete
  118. we need 2 up front so the ball wont die in midfield

    ReplyDelete
  119. FFS bring Borini on and LET S GO FOR IT !

    ReplyDelete
  120. So this how we are lining up

    Johnson Skrtel Lovren
    Gerrard Allen
    Sterling Coutinho Henderson Moreno

    Balotelli

    Ha ha. get Rodgers spectacles.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Last season Rodgers didn't want t change a winning team, which was fair enough.

This season we aren't winning that much, and when we do, Rodgers changes the team. What am I missing?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oh Johnson, get lost. please.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:51 pm, November 01, 2014

maybe we can appoint sam allerdyce : )

    ReplyDelete
  124. Red card for Sissoko for the studs on Allen?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:54 pm, November 01, 2014

look we should not need desicions to win games

    ReplyDelete
  126. And Sterling the spice?

    ReplyDelete
  127. At this point, somebody needs to be stepping up for Liverpool and putting the boot into Sissoko and co. That sort of thing can't go unopposed.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Nevergonnacrackthecode1:55 pm, November 01, 2014

allen just lost the ball playing forward
i would rather see that then all theese pointless back passes

    ReplyDelete
  129. It's like a yo yo

    ReplyDelete
  130. Good shot from Balo. But he had no other options besides a back pass.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Lambert's warming up...

    ReplyDelete
  132. Coutinho man you gotta be better with those passes.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Johnson you lazy s*** run.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Nevergonnacrackthecode2:04 pm, November 01, 2014

    this aarons really good
him and origi can give us that skill up front

    ReplyDelete
  135. I think we'll snag a late winner.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Well done Balotelli

    ReplyDelete
  137. should have been red

    ReplyDelete
  138. Nevergonnacrackthecode2:07 pm, November 01, 2014

oof this aarons has to eb a lfc player wow what a player

    ReplyDelete
  139. are rodgers blind??

    ReplyDelete
  140. I posted yesterday that the boy Aarons was one to watch out for!

    ReplyDelete
  141. STOP GIVING THE BALL AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    ReplyDelete
  142. We need Lallana's skill now! Ok Borini

    ReplyDelete
  143. Cabella is also a good player.

    ReplyDelete
  144. moreno deserves to be in a better team

    ReplyDelete
  145. Wow Lovren keeps giving the ball away. I'm being very negative today but this is frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  146. seriously, are we playing for a draw????

    ReplyDelete
  147. I thought yoyos go upwards too...

    ReplyDelete
  148. Borini comes on but Balotelli still up on his own.

    ReplyDelete
  149. That's why there's only one...

    OR

    It's a long way down...

    ReplyDelete
  150. Grief that was a good strike from Borini.

    ReplyDelete
  151. atleast defense looks better than last month

    ReplyDelete
  152. Could have been better we're just not doing it often enough!

    ReplyDelete
  153. We seem so tentative. Can't understand why.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Should have been red for that on Ballo

    ReplyDelete
  155. so sick of them. awful. bloody awful

    ReplyDelete
  156. &*()(*(*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)

    ReplyDelete
  157. Can't see where a goal is going to come from!

    ReplyDelete
  158. HOW HARD IS IT TO STAY ONSIDE FAROUTTRTTT

    ReplyDelete
  159. Well no surprise there....this team is poor and boring.

Why is sterling still on the right?

    ReplyDelete
  160. blind f*** linesman..

    ReplyDelete
  161. Liverpool of course!

    ReplyDelete
  162. I AM OVER THIS TEAM. I AM OER RODGERS.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Hee-hee. I'm masking my frustration in bad jokes.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Mig migs rescues our mugs

    ReplyDelete
  165. lol what is happening

    ReplyDelete
  166. jonsooon tooo lazy

    ReplyDelete
  167. Can we all go down with flu and call RM match off ?

    ReplyDelete
  168. If we played 11 v 1 we would lose

    ReplyDelete
  169. too fu&*(n slowww

    ReplyDelete
  170. Rodgers making this team go down in flames. Only ashes will soon remain.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I wish I could join you in laughter

    ReplyDelete
  172. how is sterling still on the field ?

    ReplyDelete
  173. Why is he being played out wide with no positive outcome?

It starts with B and ends with R.

    ReplyDelete
  174. need pace as horse not lamb

    ReplyDelete
  175. Clean sheet ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Just pretend we're 1-0 ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  177. So he's the BR and end, um, R...?

    Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  178. being wide doesnt excuse the fact that he doesnt run.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Please. You are starting to sound like Mourinho

    ReplyDelete
  180. lambert is shite.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Haha ;) What are the odds on Sakho being blamed for our defensive mistakes today?

    ReplyDelete
  182. 'liverpool have not got major problems'- idiot commentator. bloody hell.

    ReplyDelete
  183. He is running, being asked to run around like a headless chicken and so is Balotelli.

Rodgers needs a blow from a 14LB hammer on the head to wake up.

    ReplyDelete
  184. we deserve nothing and Madrid will humiliate this lot- Rodgers go away

    ReplyDelete
  185. It was an reference to a comment of earlier :-).

Skrtel and Lovren a laughing stock.

    ReplyDelete
  186. It was fun while it lasted :-)

    ReplyDelete
  187. If we can't score we get what we deserve !

    ReplyDelete
  188. That is what you get for doing the same thing over and over and over again. Rodgers keeps on sticking Balotelli up on his own over and over again.

    Taxi!

    ReplyDelete
