The Brendan Rodgers kiss of death strikes again! Despite being showered with praise for his midweek performance against Swansea, Fabio Borini is - as expected - back on the bench for today's Premier League game with Newcastle.
FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Johnson, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli
SUBS: Jones, Toure, Manquillo, Lallana, Can, Lambert, Borini
Newcastle: Krul, Janmaat, S.Taylor, Coloccini, Dummett, Sissoko, Abeid, Colback, Obertan, Cisse, Ameobi
In his pre-Newcastle press conference, Rodgers hailed Borini's Swansea performance as 'outstanding', and waxed lyrical about the striker's contribution to the game, fuelling speculation that the €18m-rated Italian may start today's game.
Well, as usual, whenever the manager praises someone to the hilt in a pre-match press conference, it usually means that the bench beckons, and i recent months, Coutinho, Sterling, Lambert, and Lallana have fallen foul of this trend.
Still, it's the right decision - there's no room for Borini in the starting line-up, and it's a good decision to start Sterling and Coutinho ahead of him. probable formation:
Mignolet
Johnson --- Lovren -- Skrtel ---- Moreno
----------- Gerrard - Allen
Henderson ------ Coutinho --- Sterling
---------------- Balotelli
My prediction: 3-2 Newcastle

Hope LFC wins 3-1..... Balo needs to strike plus prefer 2 strikers as LFC needs it.
ReplyDeleteNot really a surprising team. Lallana can come on and change things, as can Lambert. It's very predictable stuff from Rodgers and why not? Liverpool don't need to be surprising, they just need to start getting things right.
ReplyDeleteThis will all come down to early pressure and if Liverpool can convert pressure into goals. I can see them having plenty of possession and going hard at Newcastle but if the defence can absorb that and not concede within the first half hour then it will get harder.
No idea what will happen in this game. Liverpool need to lift substantially to be assured of the result. Otherwise it's a total lottery.
Newcastle going to destroy us at set pieces.
ReplyDeleteRodgers again trying to get the same out of Balotelli as he did with Suarez by again playing Balo up on his own.
ReplyDeleteBroken record...
We needed 2 strikers but at least markovic ain't in the squad. And rightly so forh his poor form. A £20m winger who has failed to score or create and also wastes oppurtunutiy. Mediocre player. Can't wait till Suso comes back, markovic sso useless. Worst signing of the pack
ReplyDeleteI maintain my theory that something has changed behind the scenes. Last year, Brendan always got the team right for every game we played but so far he has got the team right in one of our games. We have only played ONE game with our best team on form. That is unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteI said very early on that it would take time for Mario to learn his role in the team. I'm not entirely sure why people are surprised. Yes, we would like him to do better but it seems totally obvious to me that he would need to change his game, at least a little, in order to be successful. Didn't you think the same?
ReplyDeleteMight work better though with the support of both coutinho and a rested sterling.
ReplyDeleteRodgers needs spectacles.
ReplyDeleteToo early to say he is useless imo. Players from different leagues sometimes take a season to get up to speed and he's young.
ReplyDelete4-3 Liverpool
ReplyDeleteOh thank God, no Michael Owen
ReplyDeleteLucas not even on the bench? He was better than Henderson against Swansea, and better at DM than Gerrard against, well, most teams.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope Sterling is back in form.
Not quite sure what formation we're playing but I like it.
ReplyDeleteWe are so predictable it is actually becoming a joke to watch us play.
ReplyDeletejoe allen is pathetic..cant pass at all..good that he s starting today..hopefully emrr can starts againsy madrid
ReplyDeleteOur midfield looks quite static. Can't expect cute triangles from the middle if they aren't moving into space when we're on the ball.
ReplyDeleteImagine Sakho had made that pass that Lovren just made...
ReplyDeleteJohnson-Skrtel-Lovren as a back three. Ha ha Rodgers clearly has lost his marbles.
ReplyDeleteno link up play between defense and midfield allen and gerrard look like terrible
ReplyDeletelong balls over and over again
ReplyDeletegerrard and allen be brave stop sitting down
gerrards making me hope liverpool dont offer him a contract
ReplyDeleteso slow the play and he is partly to blame
Yeah what's up with the long balls? Henderson is also nowhere to be seen.
ReplyDeletejoe allen is pathetic..hw is he even given a thought of being compared with xavi.
ReplyDeleteour defnse eithe rpass it between them or ping it
ReplyDeletehenderson gerrard and allen lost somewhere
vc has not helped henderson
ReplyDeletehenderson has never looked this bad
ReplyDeleteI can't recognise Henderson these last few games. It's like he's returning to Dalglish era mode.
ReplyDeletesaving my eyes for better things... im out
ReplyDeletehendo gerradc allen out
ReplyDeleteborini lallana can in
Stick around. Newcastle's about to make a substitution.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what that's going to do to our midfield, but we live in hope.
OK, Honestly tell me this.. Which PL team will have Glen Johnson in their team.. Unacceptable..
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteHalf time change = Get Rodgers some spectacles. He cannot see what is happening on the pitch.
ReplyDeleteThis won't get any better
ReplyDeletei really dont know what fans see in henderson to expect so much from him. this is as good as he can ever get.
ReplyDeleteI maintain some backstage politics is going on. All of us can see this is not working and one does not become delusional overnight..
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Rodgers fans and always advocate that managers be given as much time as they need but this is ridiculous. Of course, there's still time for us to win and at least we haven't conceded yet.
ReplyDeleteTouch wood.
the front 3 r pressing more than midfield 3
ReplyDeletejohsnon aint a centre half
ReplyDeletetoure surely betetr suited
rodgers you aint helping yourself
football is getting spoiled with all these soft free kicks
ReplyDeleteits like we are playing in slow motion gee so frustrating
ReplyDeleterodgers taking notes during a game is a sham
ReplyDeletePlanning his takeaway
ReplyDeleteWe are waiting for Newcastle to score just like we have done in most matches with the other teams.
ReplyDeleteJust pathetic.
sterling playing so right
ReplyDeletealmost a right wing back when he is best upfront
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
No variation always looking to Sterling!
ReplyDeletewhy si sterling so right
ReplyDeletehis best game come in the centre
I think most people on in here need to grow up to be honest. Get some perspective honestly. It's like you are sitting there waiting to savage the team. From what i have seen we have largely bossed the game. Yes, no clear cut chances but we are working our way into tne game. Jesus
ReplyDeletenot even a shot on goal
ReplyDeletelook hendo and allen have never played this bad
ReplyDeletebalotelli has been our best player actually
Yea sign him we need divine intervention
ReplyDeleteRodgers...4231 DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING AT!!???
ReplyDeleteIt is not about savaging the team. It is about a manager who is being to arrogant for his own good.
ReplyDeleteexactly
ReplyDeleteborini should have started
grow u!? I thought u where out?
ReplyDeleteI guess to create space in the middle. Hendo last season would have made the most of it!
ReplyDeleteSick of Mignolet.
ReplyDeletewe are playing 3-3-3-1
ReplyDeleteSkrtel and Lovren laughing stock.
ReplyDeleteSick of defender who do not know how to defend set pieces either.
ReplyDeleteGood block by Glen
ReplyDeleteI am sick of any formation with a lone striker.
ReplyDeleteIs that why it's 0-0?
ReplyDeleteThey are passing waaaaaaayyyy too f***ing slow. Way too slow. This is pathetic.
ReplyDeleteits allen gerrad and hendos fault
ReplyDeletetake vice captiacy of hendo give it to skrtel
ReplyDeleteHave you seen us at set peices. Come on Jaime.
ReplyDeleteHahaha
ReplyDeleteonce the ball gets to the midfield is like everything is frozen
ReplyDeleteBalotelli has had great service, I must say! We're far too creative.
ReplyDeletewe need 2 up front!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJOHNSON CAN F*** OFF.
ReplyDeleteUp-vote for the sarcasm. Bet Balo gets the most criticism from Carra after the match, though.
ReplyDeleteThat's BR master stroke when 15min to go and we need a goal
ReplyDeleteThanks for seeing right through the sarcasm
ReplyDeleteNo team worries about us any more everybody expects to beat us
ReplyDeleteOn the plus-side, the clean sheet is still intact
ReplyDeletewhat a disgrace this team is. they can f*** off back home. wanks.
ReplyDeleteits like one step forward 2 steps back
ReplyDeleteso f*(*&^* slow
ReplyDeletehey support the team
ReplyDeleteeven if we are the worst team in the world
True! My main concern is Sissoko he's playing like a beast on heat!
ReplyDeleteI am so angry because I do support the team. This is bulls***. Absolute bulls***. Rodgers has been absolutely clueless thus far this season. I don't know what the hell he's trying to achieve.
ReplyDeletesterling doesnt contribute anything from the flanks..switch him n coutinho
ReplyDeleteCome on Man.. This is such a joke. I do not have words to say. Nothing about Glen Johnson or anything. I am just speechless..
ReplyDeleteso my changes
ReplyDeletebring on borini for henderson
can for allen he is getting bullied
..........................................................balotelli..........borini
.......................................................................sterling
....................................................can............................coutinho
.....................................................................gerrard
i would take of gerrard for lallana but gerrard can never be dropped
He is playing like our midfielders should be. Always thought he was good!
ReplyDeleteEmre Can for the second half, maybe? And in place of who (because Gerrard and Henderson can't be substituted)?
Good luck if you think that is going to happen..
ReplyDeletewhat do you propose ?
ReplyDeletei think a managerial change will shake things up right now it seems rodgers just plays his favorite players
chelsea always do it when thing break down thats why their so successful
but it should happen?
ReplyDeleteI propose that Rodgers pull that butt plug out of his arse and get the team back to what they do best.
ReplyDeleteRodgers treatment of borini has been shocking this is pure bullying
ReplyDeletelike avb with adebayor
rodgers if you aint gonna be fair to our players why should the fans be fair to you?
Here we go, he comes the lectures from atop the towers of morality
ReplyDeleteOk. Enough.. I hate this nonsense on commentary.. Everytime we play sh!t, the commentators are like " Oh, but they lost Suarez and Sturridge and it was always going to be difficult". Enough with the excuses.. Losing two strikers does not make the players forget how to pass or kick like weaklings.. We are plain rubbish. No excuses.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was nil nil. Did i miss something?
ReplyDeleteUrgh
ReplyDeleteMy team for the 2nd half
ReplyDeleteMignolet
Manquillo Toure Lovren Moreno
Gerrard
Hendo Allen
Sterling
Borini Balotelli
Obviously. Ever since the AV game, we have called for two strikers but it has never happened.. So why start now..
ReplyDeleteyes but 90% of what the team does best
ReplyDeletecame from 2 great wise men
STURRIDGE AND SUAREZ
look at luis enrique doing wonders with messi and neymar when he is an average manger
It's not just Borini, either.
ReplyDeletePoor poor performance so far...
ReplyDeleteBalotelli and Sterling cannot see any of the ball. Why play Sterling out wide on the right when we all know he plays better in the mid?
Why play Balo by himself AGAIN?!
Coutinho, as usual, is struggling on the left wing. Play him centrally.
We need 2 up front with a diamond behind.
No one from the bench can come in and make a difference.
BR sort it out and stop being stubborn.
Yes.. It is nil-nil and we are playing like we are 5-0 down. I have not complained like the others till now but Brendan himself saw the effects of two up top when Balotelli instantly scored. He downright neglected it. No energy and no urgency.
ReplyDeleteBalotelli congratulations you have been the only player that has been decent
ReplyDeletedeserves an apology after all the stick i gave him last week
i rather hav sturridge injured for longer time than him come n cover their weaknesses..let everyone learn to play
ReplyDeleteIN OUT
ReplyDeleteBorini Sterling
Lallana Allen
We need to make 2 changes at the back. Johnson and Skrtel off, Manquillo and Toure on leaving us with one attacking sub which would be Borini for Coutinho.
ReplyDeleteGuess i have a higher patience threshold. Haha
ReplyDeleteLiverpool will certainly lose against Madrid , probably against Chelsea but ffs this is Newcastle ,what a lineup Allen & Johnson = crap we all know that, the others are not lighting up the pitch either, BR is clueless and based on the 1st half we don't deserved anything from the game unless something dramatically changes in the 2nd half
ReplyDeletewe just cant get passed the midfield when we attack
ReplyDeleteLet's see if Carragher agrees with you after the match.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, am upset with Balotelli for not dropping back into midfield and dragging a centre-back with him, winning the ball off someone and then lobbing it into the vacant space before hurtling forward to latch on and chipping over the 'keeper.
I don't normally criticise individual players and I thought Mig might just be lacking a bit of confidence then he tries a Cruyff turn having previously come for ball and completely missed it.
ReplyDeleteClearly it's not confidence he just is not good enough
we used to move the ball so quick its like we are lost now
ReplyDeleteno connection between midfield and defense
ReplyDeletepass it pointlessly at the back 20 times then put a long one up field to sterling or corner flag
no spice up front
ReplyDeletesas created space for everyone
ReplyDeleteThe midfielders dropped off to help out the defenders. Our build-up play was the best. But throughout this match, I have only seen Skrtel and Lovren pass to each other.
ReplyDeleteI almost had kittens when he did that
ReplyDeleteI almost had puppies and I am a male Boxer.
ReplyDeleteThere would prob be an article written before full time explaining how much of a liability he is. Yet, all I here is "goal scoring Skrtel and 20 mill Lovren need time to form a partnership"
ReplyDeletewhy is lovren almost asked to play lb
ReplyDeleteand johnson at cb
this is madness
Yup. That's how I saw it, too.
ReplyDeleteBut at least it's a version of possession football.
we need 2 up front so the ball wont die in midfield
ReplyDeleteFFS bring Borini on and LET S GO FOR IT !
ReplyDeleteSo this how we are lining up
ReplyDeleteJohnson Skrtel Lovren
Gerrard Allen
Sterling Coutinho Henderson Moreno
Balotelli
Ha ha. get Rodgers spectacles.
Last season Rodgers didn't want t change a winning team, which was fair enough.
ReplyDeleteThis season we aren't winning that much, and when we do, Rodgers changes the team. What am I missing?
Oh Johnson, get lost. please.
ReplyDeletemaybe we can appoint sam allerdyce : )
ReplyDeleteRed card for Sissoko for the studs on Allen?
ReplyDeletelook we should not need desicions to win games
ReplyDeleteAnd Sterling the spice?
ReplyDeleteAt this point, somebody needs to be stepping up for Liverpool and putting the boot into Sissoko and co. That sort of thing can't go unopposed.
ReplyDeleteTrue, true.
ReplyDeleteallen just lost the ball playing forward
ReplyDeletei would rather see that then all theese pointless back passes
It's like a yo yo
ReplyDelete*chuckles*
ReplyDeleteGood shot from Balo. But he had no other options besides a back pass.
ReplyDeleteLambert's warming up...
ReplyDeleteCoutinho man you gotta be better with those passes.
ReplyDeleteJohnson you lazy s*** run.
ReplyDeletethis aarons really good
ReplyDeletehim and origi can give us that skill up front
I think we'll snag a late winner.
ReplyDeleteWell done Balotelli
ReplyDeleteshould have been red
ReplyDeleteoof this aarons has to eb a lfc player wow what a player
ReplyDeleteare rodgers blind??
ReplyDeleteI posted yesterday that the boy Aarons was one to watch out for!
ReplyDeleteSTOP GIVING THE BALL AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
ReplyDeleteWe need Lallana's skill now! Ok Borini
ReplyDeleteCabella is also a good player.
ReplyDeletemoreno deserves to be in a better team
ReplyDeleteWow Lovren keeps giving the ball away. I'm being very negative today but this is frustrating.
ReplyDeleteseriously, are we playing for a draw????
ReplyDeleteI thought yoyos go upwards too...
ReplyDeleteBorini comes on but Balotelli still up on his own.
ReplyDeleteThat's why there's only one...
ReplyDeleteOR
It's a long way down...
Grief that was a good strike from Borini.
ReplyDeleteatleast defense looks better than last month
ReplyDeleteCould have been better we're just not doing it often enough!
ReplyDeleteWe seem so tentative. Can't understand why.
ReplyDeleteOh, no :(
ReplyDeleteShould have been red for that on Ballo
ReplyDeleteso sick of them. awful. bloody awful
ReplyDelete&*()(*(*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)
ReplyDeleteCan't see where a goal is going to come from!
ReplyDeleteNewcastle.
ReplyDeleteHOW HARD IS IT TO STAY ONSIDE FAROUTTRTTT
ReplyDeleteWell no surprise there....this team is poor and boring.
ReplyDeleteWhy is sterling still on the right?
tai asuu
ReplyDeleteblind f*** linesman..
ReplyDeleteLiverpool of course!
ReplyDeleteI AM OVER THIS TEAM. I AM OER RODGERS.
ReplyDeleteHee-hee. I'm masking my frustration in bad jokes.
ReplyDeleteMig migs rescues our mugs
ReplyDeletelol what is happening
ReplyDeletejonsooon tooo lazy
ReplyDeleteCan we all go down with flu and call RM match off ?
ReplyDeleteIf we played 11 v 1 we would lose
ReplyDeletetoo fu&*(n slowww
ReplyDeleteRodgers making this team go down in flames. Only ashes will soon remain.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could join you in laughter
ReplyDeletehow is sterling still on the field ?
ReplyDeleteWhy is he being played out wide with no positive outcome?
ReplyDeleteIt starts with B and ends with R.
need pace as horse not lamb
ReplyDeleteClean sheet ha ha.
ReplyDeleteJust pretend we're 1-0 ahead.
ReplyDeleteSo he's the BR and end, um, R...?
ReplyDeleteSorry.
being wide doesnt excuse the fact that he doesnt run.
ReplyDeletePlease. You are starting to sound like Mourinho
ReplyDeleteI fixed it ;-)
ReplyDeletelambert is shite.
ReplyDeleteHaha ;) What are the odds on Sakho being blamed for our defensive mistakes today?
ReplyDelete'liverpool have not got major problems'- idiot commentator. bloody hell.
ReplyDeleteHe is running, being asked to run around like a headless chicken and so is Balotelli.
ReplyDeleteRodgers needs a blow from a 14LB hammer on the head to wake up.
clean sh*t
ReplyDeletewe deserve nothing and Madrid will humiliate this lot- Rodgers go away
ReplyDeleteIt was an reference to a comment of earlier :-).
ReplyDeleteSkrtel and Lovren a laughing stock.
It was fun while it lasted :-)
ReplyDeleteIf we can't score we get what we deserve !
ReplyDeleteThat is what you get for doing the same thing over and over and over again. Rodgers keeps on sticking Balotelli up on his own over and over again.
ReplyDeleteTaxi!
