Snapped: LFC's 'excellent' new €22m signing hanging-out with his new team-mate

For about the 5th time this week, Liverpool have reportedly agreed a $22m deal for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, who is set to become the Reds' third signing of the summer. By all accounts, the deal is practically done, and it looks like Moreno has already introduced himself to one of his future team-mates.

Last summer, Liverpool signed Luis Alberto from Sevilla, so the Spaniard knows Moreno well from his time at the club.

Last night, Alberto posted on Twitter a photo of himself with Moreno, and Everton's Gerard Deulofeu:

 photo ScreenShot2014-06-05at230552_zpsdc492259.png

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidential this evening:

* Moreno - described by Sevilla boss Unai Emery as 'excellent' - will sign a 5-year deal with Liverpool.

* The deal will be announced early next week.

Moreno may well be an LFC player by the time the new season starts, but the same cannot be said about Alberto. After a massively disappointing first season (in that he barely played), it's entirely possible the attacker may leave, or at least go out on loan.

I'm not a fan of Moreno. He's as bad at defending as Johnson and going forward he's nothing special. Liverpool should focus on getting Serge Aurier at RB to replace Johnson and buy another LB or put Can there. With Moreno and Johnson being our starting fullbacks, Liverpool's defense will be just as bad as last season imo.

  2. Think you're being a bit harsh on the lad. He's only 21. He'll get better. To make the Spain 30 man provisional squad you have to at least be somewhat good. I love the signing. With him and Flanno we have our fullbacks possibly for next ten years.

  3. Another keyboard master tactician,
he has'nt kicked a ball for us yet, but he still gets slated, I will wait until I see him play for us before drawing conclusions, you are saying basically Rodgers is wrong, and you are right, so Pat when are you joining the coaching staff.

Not seen much of other than Youtube, but looks to have decent pace but can improve on his forward passing; obviously Youtube does not show him much. He is only young BR will hopefully make him better. The fee I think is based on his potential more so than his current ability, as good LB's are quite hard to come by these days with so many top teams, we have with him one of the best young LB in Europe. I think should mean the end of Enrique and hope BR can bring through Jack Robinson.

  5. absolutely delighted he has signed or agreed to sign, strong ,quick, and talented, and badly needed, i think he will be perfect for us as will Can, and Lambert,so, very happy so far, i also think Alberto should be given some time in the first team, maybe in the cups, anyway, lets see who impresses in the pre-season then at least we have a clue.

  6. You are the biggest troll/hater. I saw previous comments of you bashing on Moreno. Whats your fkng problem? You said that you knew that Borini and Aspas were going to be flops. Guess what. Everybody knew that. You are not a fking genious. This time its different I assure you. Moreno has amazing stamina and skillset. He is not Aspas. You can feel it when a player is good or not. And I feel he is going to be amazing and worth 35 mil in 3-4 years. The opposite feeling I had with Allen, Aquilani, Borini , Aspas, Kolo. I knew they were shit. The only time I got tricked was with Carroll. But Carroll was amazing for me anyway under Dalglish. I remember that FA cup final when he raped Chelski.

  7. Enrique is not finished at LFC. He is too good to go. Maybe he will play as a CB.?? Why not? He is tall, fast, agile, has skill. If Mascherano the midget managed to be CB at Barca I cannot see a reason why Jose cant. Maybe Agger will leave and Jose will be our left-footed CB alongside Lovren who is our next target possibly

It is easier for a short CB to play in La Liga as the vast majority of team of play football with the ball on the floor, whereas in the PL that is not the case. Illori has more of a chance at CB than Jose. Jose is 6ft tall which is tall enought in the PL but he is not a natural CB. We need commanding vocal stable CB's, and it is harsh to say but Jose is not the answer. I know he could be tried at that position, but I doubt he will get the chance due to number of CB's we already have in the squad.

  9. The question is when are we going to get rid of Glen Johnson. No one in his right frame of mind will sign this mediocre at best, 29-year old, 110k/week player. We need miracle, man!

    ReplyDelete
  10. i agree with patrick i think liverpool should sign serge aurier and get rid of johson i also think liverpool should sign rodriguez off wolfsburg good at going forward just like moreno but unlike moreno a brillant defender which moreno is not

    ReplyDelete
  11. Where are we on Lovren? By the way, I read that Tottenham was offereing cash and capoue and a loaned player. Anyone else heard that?

    ReplyDelete
  12. You may not agree with him, but he's entitled to his opinion. Are you only allowed to give your opinion on a potential new signing if it is positive?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Seeing this deal, 25 mil for Shaw looks like a bargain. Because Shaw at 18 is better than Moreno

  14. Four Big Liabilities in our team :
Right Back Johnson: Can't Defend and below average to be honest

Left Back Flannagan: Flannagan did a brilliant job as he is predominently a RB and he defended well too....Moreno fixes the problem or not we need to wait and see

Center Back's Sakho and Skertel: Too many errors at the back....god knows how to fix this problem...to be honest we need 2 young, brave and defensive minded CB's...we already have Ilori and second will be Lovren or Caulker

Defensive Midfielder : Lucas is Injury Prone,Slow and too many silly fouls which lead to dangerous free kicks all the time....Emre Can will fix this problem(atleast I hope so)

Goalkeeper : Mignolet is a liability on Crosses,Corners...we really need a 1st choice GK and I will be happy even if he is replaced by David Marshall

  15. I have seen Moreno play and i feel that he is nothing special and doesnt justify his 18 m price tag.But i am more worried about Brendan's transfer market strategies. We already bought Can for 10 m who is also a future propect but not much at present. Add to that Ilori, Wisdom and Flanagan. To some extent Sakho has failed this season and jury is still out on him like the rest i have listed. That amounts to 53 m spent on players who are not good enough at the moment but have a chance to become star in future. Now dont reply me that Studge and Coutinho were Brendan's buys. They were 3 transfer window back and we havent found any good player since. Clearly we got lucky that time.

  16. Great stuff. Well happy! Apart from the defence, I'd love us to try and sign Rakitic. But also one of the following: Shaqiri, Sanchez, Greizmann, Iturbe or Konoplyanka. Good news about 20 year old Enre Can. Just the kind of player Brendan can coach to his full potential. Looking good so far..

  17. I do kind of agree with where your coming from. I reckon the next two Players we sign will walk into the first team. ie an attacking midfielder/winger (Shaqiri, Sanchez, Iturbe, Konoplyanka or even HOPEFULLY Rakitic) and a central defender, like maybe Lovren. But I would be dissapointed if not. We definately need two players who can walk straight into the team. Keep the faith, still early days..

  18. Not just brave and young central defenders, with which I agree, but also the Vocal and Leader type players we've missed in defence since Carragher retired. Someone who can rally the defence and push them up when we are under pressure. Don't know who though!!?

  19. Alberto will probably need a season on loan for a senior team to show his ability. I'd expect him to have a season like Suso just did at Almeria. If not then there can be no doubt he was a dud buy and he'll be discarded. He's had a year in the Liverpool first team to train and give Rodgers that first hand look so the manager knows exactly what the player is capable of. It will then be up to Alberto to prove himself at a slightly lower level, perhaps for a team not pushing for the title. He needs to lock down a starting role for whatever team he goes to and be a solid contributor in attack to be considered again for Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Good point. Enrique is a decent player. Just injury prone a little.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This Will Be a Good Signing for us, Alberto and Flanegan will be our Full Backs for the Next 5+ Years to come, and We Have Sakho and Maybe "Lovern" if we sign him, so Our Defense is Set for the next 5+ years, and We Should Start with our Mid after we sign those 2 players =D

  22. I don't see how he is arrogant. Chelski fans accused him of this quality and are now eating humble pie but unfortunately it stuck. For someone with his record since joining LFC, the number of assists and his personal credit references which are given to his family or God I would not say these are actions of an arrogant person.

    Rakitic?Barcelona just announced his capture.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd say it's more likely that Aspas leaves than Alberto. The guy cost too much and is too young to write off. And, more importantly, whenever Alberto played he did show some good touches and promise whereas the same cannot be said about Aspas. I think that unless a club comes in who offers us close to what we have paid, Alberto may stay at least another season. We'll need the squad depth. Although with Suso coming back, Texeira also showing some promise and Can coming in, we're well covered in the young and promising section in that area of the pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I wonder what Alberto says to Moreno about joining the mighty LFC?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think the closest comparison in terms of type of player and level of impact at this age is Eden Hazard. I can't be bothered to consult wiki but I'm pretty sure he was transferred for close to 30 mill at the age of 21 after similarly eye catching performances in a competitive ligue 1.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This idea that Johnson can't defend is a myth. As he gets into attacking positions he leaves a space which is supposed to be covered by his teammates. Attacking full-backs are most effective when deployed with a defensive midfielder capable of covering their attacking forays by quickly moving into the space left behind and breaking up play, something LFC are sorely lacking.

  28. The best RB in England. Glen Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Not sure how £7m can be classified as 'too much'.

I would be more worried if Luis Alberto or even Aspas were on massive wages as then it may be difficult to move them on if that is the plan.

Aspas is on a reported £1.3m a season at LFC. That is £27k a week and Alberto is probably on more or less on the same.

    ReplyDelete
  30. How in God's name Rakitic was not brought for 20M euros?!!!!!Liverpool, you really prefere Lallana for 25 M pounds over Rakitic for 20 M euros?!!! I'm speechless I wish we had some common sense like Barca

    ReplyDelete
  31. Reported by whom? Please post the link.

And again, you totally ignore the point that so many have made: one transfer by itself may not appear to be much, but when you add them all up, it's a huge amount of money. Why do you ignore that? You pro-Rodgers tunnel vision, as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You quite clearly have Anti-Rodgers tunnel vision?

I stated it is a reported figure. You can google it.

My point is that if both these players are on low wages *according to reports* then it will not be a headache to move them on.

    Anything wrong with with that?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Again: please post the link to these alleged reports.

And the idea that I am anti-Rodgers is total nonsense. I praise and criticise him depending on the situation. You constantly spew pro-Rodgers propaganda irrespective of the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't think it's like shopping on e bay where if you are the first to click "buy it now" then it's yours.

I am sure many clubs would love Rakitic for £20M or even £30M+ but there are many aspects to agreeing a transfer not least the player's own wishes

    ReplyDelete
  35. And you spew negativity towards most of Rodgers his signings. I noted the other day the article you posted of mine on your site where I had doubts Aspas and Alberto.

Do not see what the problem is.

  37. It's not negativity, it's reality, which you are incapable of acknowledging. Anyway, as I've shown a hundred times, much of what you say about Rodgers/his signings is insincere. You will praise and 'defend' anything relating to Rodgers just to maintain your pro-BR position, not because you actually believe it.

If Rodgers had signed Andy Carroll, you'd be trying to convince everyone that he was the signing of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh hell! I didn't know that. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Bloody hell! Also just seen they're gonna pay him £8 million per year! We never had a chance really. Where the hell do they and Real Madrid get all that money from!! DAAYUM!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well I have every right to be positive. Look at where the club is compared to when Rodgers took over.

Give me reasons to agree with your 'reality'...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Bit of a contradiction there... To have a vocal leader type defender he needs to be experienced... We need a good solid centre half with experience, I don't mean an ageing 32/34 year old but we can't have a team full of 20 year olds, and if we change our entire back 4 will they have the unity needed straight away... I doubt it very much, Ashley cole would've been ideal. Or Bertrand, premiership experience, and sakho in his second season will improve.... As for ppl saying Mignolet isn't good enough is ridiculous

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree but maybe an English team would be the best option, preferably in the BPL

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm afraid this excuse is becoming a rule rather than an exception considering the Liverpool move "flatters" rakitic

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't care whether you agree with me; I'm not trying to change peoples' opinions. I just find your insincerity extremely hollow. Plus, it's impossible to discuss anything with you properly because you'll always take the pro-Rodgers route, and endlessly justify mistakes simply to 'protect' the manager.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Can played a full season in the bundesliga making almost 40 appearances. He has also played in the CL where they advance to the round of 16. He is going to play and offers alot of athleticism something we lacked in that area at times especially if Henderson is out. I dont see a problem with who they are buying , if ou think they were going to shell out 30m for shaw your mistaken. £ 17-20 M is the going rate for for a LB with great potential. The money saved from not buying shaw is another player.

    ReplyDelete
  46. "It's not negativity, it's reality". That is what you said right?

That is why we all have our own opinion. There is no wrong or right here.

    ReplyDelete
  47. seems decent enough, reminds me of Riise, costly for his age so would of expected him be more sought after, and can would be wasted at fb, too talented to play defensively

    ReplyDelete
  48. The best English right back is quite different to the best RB in England. Glen is only one of those.

    ReplyDelete
  49. You are very clueless

    ReplyDelete
  50. Moreno will be a first 11 player for sure, at least he will start the season there. Whereas luis alberto had no such assurances. I agree, luis should have got way more game time but a loan to malaga will work out great for him.

    ReplyDelete
  51. In that study 9 of the top 20 valuable players were in the premier league. 3 at LFC, 2 at Chelsea, arsenal 1, Everton 1, scum u 1, city 1. Pretty good seeing sureaz Sturridge and sterling cost us 35m total.
Especially half a million for sterling what a bargain.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Lucas Moura costed €40m. PSG, City or Monaco will easily splash that kind of money if he was available.
