Fire Sale Shock: Barca transfer-list 7 players worth £108m. Who should LFC sign?

After failing to win a trophy for the first time in six years, Barcelona are reportedly preparing to rip-up their squad, which could be good news for Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca today, the Catalan club has transfer-listed seven players with a combined transfer value of £108m.

Here is the full list of players Barca is willing to sell:

- Cristian Tello (Available for £8m)
- Alexis Sanchez (£18m-rated)
- Alex Song (£12m-rated)
- Pedro (£20m-rated)
- Dani Alves (£16m-rated)
- Cesc Fabregas (£25m-rated)
- Javier Mascherano (£9m-rated)

Combined value: £108m

Some of these players have huge buyout clauses, but if Barca want to sell, then it's unlikely that these will come into play, and this could mean that there are some (potentially) great deals to be made.

Should Liverpool pursue any of these players? If so, who; where would they fit in, and at whose expense. I'd personally go for:

* Pedro (Competition for Sterling/Coutinho/Sturride)
* Alves (Replace Glen Johnson)

    Alves and Mascherano

  7. I would rather Pedro over Alexis. What do other people think? Personally i think Pedro is a better all round player and person and would rather see him over alexis if i had the choice of one or other

  8. If i had to chose only one, i'd go for alves to replace johnson, though i wouldn't be disappointed by any of them being signed.

  9. I would have all of them if I could!

I think I would go for Alves, Fabregas and Pedro.

  10. Forget offensive players, UNTIL, we sort out the defence. The MONSTER is EXACTLY the type of EXPERIENCED defensive player we need. Wages will be high, but fee will not Assaidi + a few million.

  11. I would sign Sanchez, Alves, Mascherano, Along with Milner and Lallana!

  12. Tello - no, Sterling and Ibe both have better potential, and Sterling is better than him atm anyway
    Sanchez - yes
Song - maybe, good option over Lucas, although he apparently has attitude issues
Pedro - no, good player, but seems a little lightweight, so not sure he would be worth risk as he might not cut it in the prem, would rather sign Lallana
Dani Alves - no, play Flanno at RB, sign a new left back, plus wages would be huge for a RB
    Fabregas - yes
Mascherano - no, getting on a bit, too rash, not powerful enough - which I think is what we need in a DM, and left the club in a awful way

Alves to replace Johnson? Isnt alves older?? With Johnson flannagan kelly and wisdom I dont think another rightback is as much a necessity as a leftback. Personally id love to see BR bring in tello, sanchez/shaqiri/el shaarawy, can, caulker, moreno, vorm/marshall. At the same time aspas, Alberto, Lucas, skrtel, reina going out

  14. Definitely Fabregas, he's real quality but a scapegoat for the Barca fans.

  15. i choose pedro he can be qaulity addition adn alves he deserves 150k week he top top class and also i choose mascherano as we good DM

  16. Indeed Alves is older, 1 year older. Alves just turned 31 this month and Johnson is turning 30 in Aug. Alves has been one of the best wing backs for the last 5 or so years, Johnson has never will never achieve the heights of ability Alves possesses even now.

Flanaggan is "okay". Let's not kid ourselves, he is not all that. Kelly will probably be moved to CB.

  17. Sanchez and Alvez would be a nice addition.

  18. Tello and pedrp yes, fabregas no. He's only in it for the money and when the chios arw down can he be counted on...

  19. I would say spend the entire 108mn lol

  20. pedro alves and song for me

  21. Fabregas - EPL proven and goals from midfield guaranteed.

Tello - Still young, very talented and pretty sure Rodgers can turn him into a star.

    Sanchez.- Machine!

  22. The only player we are most likely to get from the above list is Tello who we almost loaned in January this year.

  23. If we admit that defense is what we need most, then I say Mascherano first...even though he'll be 30...that's a lot of experience.
    Then Tello and then Sanchez
Pass on the others and spend on Rakitic.

  24. Absolutely Pedro and Alves. Those are the two I'd go for, too. Good call, JK. Now to get Ian Ayre onto it... Or would that defeat the purpose?

  25. Would you really choose Flanno over Alves? I love the local lad's spirit and tackling, but I'm sure even JF would be bouncing off the walls to play in the same team as and learn from El Mestre himself.

    ReplyDelete
  26. And I agree with you about Mascherano.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Pedro, Sanchez ta very much

    ReplyDelete
  28. Alves is too old and he's a hot head who is a walking yellow card. He reminds me of Ramires so much I hate him just for that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Our weakness is defense and defense is the weakest part of Alves' game.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Diver of note too. We do not need players like that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. In order of preference I would have;

    Wide forward
    Sanchez
    Pedro
    Tello

    Central midfielder
    Fabregas
    Mascherano
    Song

Alves is better than Glen but I think we should look at younger models.

Only ones at all likely are Tello and Pedro in that order.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Either Sanchez, pedro or tello, some width down the flanks is ARGUABLY the only first team forward player we need.

And if Alves is up for sale and we can get him on the cheap then yes please!

    ReplyDelete
  33. MASCHERANO... If he was in our midfield last season (especially the last 3 games) we WOULD have won the league!!
Other then that, Sanchez & Fabregas will do nicely, hey if I thought it was possible I would like us to get them all :)

I would sign mascherano, alves, sanchez,

  35. Sanchez is the only one for whom the move would be a positive, he'd become a more important player. But for the others it would be the beginning of the end (Fabregas) or a swansong (Alves) and we don't need that kind of player.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I thought that too, but apparently he's a great lad. I'd love to see him (and most of the others) at Liverpool next season!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would. As pandle said, Dani Alves is not fantastic defensively, while Flanno is reasonably solid, and still very young with time to improve. Also, I think Flanno will be even more solid if allowed to play regularly on the right hand side, as he wont be dribble around as often as he is now as its his stronger side.

  38. Barcelona are now our feeder club, lolz!! It's Tello and Pedro for me, don't want that traitor Mascherano anywhere near us ever again. Would consider Alves at the right price, lets look for proper defenders elsewhere as that is not their strong point.
