Aldo tells BR: LFC should sign £57m trio as part of '£70m' transfer spree. Agree?

LFC's magnificent season is now over, and despite an excellent showing in the league, there is still room for significant improvement, and Reds legend John Aldridge has identified three players who he believes can take Liverpool to the next level.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo today, Aldo hailed LFC's 'unbelievable' season, and pinpointed three possible summer signings. He noted:

"I’m hoping sales should bolster the manager’s kitty to around £70million.

"I’ll be delighted if Liverpool complete the signing of Adam Lallana [and] Diego Costa.

"We need a strong central midfielder and I like West Ham’s Mohamed Diame. He would be a snip for around £5m".

Liverpool's interest in all three players is long-established:

* Lallana is allegedly a done deal, with ESPN this week reporting: "Adam Lallana will seal a £20 million move to Liverpool from Southampton next week. Despite interest from other clubs Lallana has opted to join Brendan Rodgers' side".

* Liverpool made a €25m bid for Costa in August 2013, and after turning down a move to Anfield, he told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: "I had options to leave, and I was very close to doing so. Liverpool is a great team, but after so much fighting and overcoming so many difficulties to win my place at Atletico, how could I go?"

* Kenny Dalglish tried to sign Diame, but Liverpool's interest ended when Dalglish left, and the 24-year admited he was 'sad' to miss out on the move. He told the Liverpool Echo: “I met with Kenny Dalglish and we talked about next season [2012-2013], but God decided to finish this situation. It is true I was very sad in my head as I was thinking to go there”

Diame has repeatedly made it clear that he wants a move to Liverpool. Costa, on the other hand, is a different story, and with a £32 price tag - and inevitable interest from many of Europe's top clubs - it seems unlikely that Rodgers will be able to pull off that deal. How would LFC's team look with those three in the first XI? Using the current squad:

---------------- Mignolet

Johnson ---- Skrtel - Agger ------- Flanagan

---------------- Gerrard

----------- Diame ---- Lallana

----- Costa ------------- Suarez

--------------- Sturridge

I'm not sure Diame is an upgrade on Henderson, and I'd expect him to be a squad player (like Allen and Lucas); Costa is a definite first-teamer, and will probably challenge Sturridge for the central striker spot. Lallana is a potential first-teamer, but it all depends on how he adapts to LFC.

  1. Diame isn't good enough and hasn't Costa just about signed for Chelsea? Lallana I like though.

  2. I have heard a Mascherano to Liverpool rumour...

  3. I think we will be happy with the business this summer!!!

  4. He and his family want to move back to Liverpool, so say the Catalan press!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Surely he's better than Diame? I don't care that he's 29. he'd come back a better player than when he left.

  6. Chelsea have agreed a 32mill bid for Costa.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thought Masch and his family hated it in Liverpool, didn't he say that as one of the reasons he wanted to leave? Would have him back though, I thought he was a great player for us.

  8. No, it was about 'broken promises', and the fact that he wanted to make the most of his career by winning trophies. Can't fault him for that.

  9. Costa is going to Chelsea if ESPN sources are to be believed while to me Diane is way too brutish to fit in with our style. Allan wont come cheap at all, which my only concern and none of them play CB of which we may need two. Johnson needs to go at RB as well at this point and although Flanagan had a really good run moving forward I think he's great for depth but shouldn't be starting for a Champions League team. We need both depth and starters so this whole thing is going to be very difficult moving forward, in a World Cup summer no less. I think if we add depth to our attack and immediate starters to our back line is the way to go.

  10. Lallana and Costa would be super!! A lot of talk about Mascherano being a part of a deal that takes Agger to Barca, I'd be happy with that too! Great to hear our name being linked with quality players, that can make an instant improvement on the team.

  11. For this money i'd rather see 2 teams like this:
    Mignolet
    Johnno Skrtel Sakho Shaw
    Hendo Gerrard
    Sterling Lallana
    Studge Suarez
    Vorm
    Wisdom Ilori Agger Flanno
    Allen Lucas
    Suso/Diame
    Konoplyanka Coutinho
    Borini

  12. Fair enough then, I would have him back. As a centre midfielder though, not a centre back.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would for sure!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Whilst signing those two would be good. We really need to sort out our defence.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wisdom and Tiago are playing well away on-loan, Sakho needs to stay injury free, he is a former PSG captain and France CB.............we just need to protect the defence better.

  16. Diame is very under-rated!!!

  17. I said to my son a while ago. if Liverpool keep doing well and Barcelona start looking vulnerable I can see Macherano getting home sick. He gets home sickness but not for Argentina oddly enough - don't entertain him.

We don't need Costa. He is a classic target man and after all we have Suarez and Sturridge. We should go for a cheaper target. Costa is a player that needs to play every single game. I hear rumours about a Mascherano return, and I would be very pleased if he would return.
A true class player and I forgave him for leaving the sinking ship that we were back than. So buy Lallana, Mascherano a CB, a wing back and a striker and if possible a winger.

It was not nice what happened back then, but I can understand his position. We were playing with Poulsen and Konchesky for god sake. I really hope we can bring him back. He could solve our problems in defence and I think he is much better in always every department than Lucas. Partner him with Gerrard.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Diego Costa will join Chelsea.

Our bid for Lallana was apparently rejected so if our bid was for £20m and it had been rejected then I would be surprised if we are willing to pay more than that.

I would love costa but 1 he is problem going to chelsea or staying at athleco m and 2 I just can't see him I a red shirt but I would just love it if he did but I think we will sing Adam Lallana but I would farther hendo or coutino than DIAME and plz we need a centre back

    ReplyDelete
  22. No amongst Liverpool supporters he is way over rated.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Costa won't happen unfortunately and Diame won't happen which is good news.

We need full backs. As good as Flanno has been getting forward he lacks what we need and Johnson's form this season suggests to me that he needs replacing as well. I personally think we will need about six players in this window mostly replacing players leaving. I don't actually expect that many though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I saw him dominate Liverpool for West Ham, he always gets stuck in against us.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lallana. Damn auto correct haha

    ReplyDelete
  26. When will people stop with Diame ?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Exactly but does he do it all the time? There are lots of players who have stormers against us but that doesn't mean they are good players just capable of good performances. I have also seem him be absolutely anonymous against us and other teams.

I am not saying he is garbage but would just be a pointless purchase. We have better players in that position right now. Just because they are not units like he is people seem to miss the fact that they are better at playing football.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Not read anywhere I trust that the bid was rejected just that they are yet to reply.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Diame is a really to buy to replace Allen. Allen to West Ham?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Given Dalgleish's transfer record, I think Diame is a big, fat, Noooo.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You do not know that Costa 'will join Chelsea', so why do you say it so emphatically as if you know for a fact it will happen?

    ReplyDelete
  32. It has been reported all over that the fee has been agreed between Chelsea and A. Madrid.

Whoever thinks there is still a chance of Costa coming to LFC need to have a reality check.

Diame, yes all day long if it is for £5mil he is still relatively young and is a presence in midfield. And should hopefully improve playing with better players week in week out.
Lallana is someone I have always enjoyed to watch, unpredictable, ambidextrous and hard working. He has proved that he can play in the premiership and is English.

Diego Cheater sorry I mean Costa no thanks, I'm so happy Chelsea are going to get him, I don't believe he is the world class striker people are saying he is. I think he is going to struggle in Mourinho's defensive system.

Me personally I would like us to put a bid in for Luke Shaw as well as Lallana with a combined total of £45 mil. I don't think the Saints could refuse that offer. so including Diame it would be £50 mil spent
Now to get rid of dead wood Iago Aspas £5mil (hopefully) Sakho £11 mil (I know this wont happen but I just don't think he has the composure to be a liverpool centre back) with the £16 mil generated we should put a bid in for centre back Eder Balanta which would cost around £10 mil from river plate. for the sake of my sanity, will someone link us to marco verrati?!! I actually can't see why we wouldn't go for him. established at a big club like PSG, yet not so established its going to cost us through the roof to sign him, position we need to strengthen, and is a Rodgers type player in that he likes to get on the ball no matter what the situation is so will always be creating angles, and off the ball he is great at pressing

    ReplyDelete
  35. Slightly off topic but who would everyone like as a centre back/full backs?

Mangala from what I a see is a great player, in certain aspects alike Kompany who I believe to be the best CB in the world. Additionally being French he would potentially bring better out of Sakho and visa versa, and there should be no communication problems. Slightly optomistic but I like the look of Mats Hummels. I just hope Caulker wouldnt be our primary defensive reinforcement as I believe hed be a great squad player and backup but is not quite ready for the expectations of Liverpool.

  37. What we need is a CB that can command our back 4. Until we find such player then our current defence will continue to struggle.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm not sure it's a done deal yet but most likely. Costa won't be coming to Liverpool though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lloris - No chance, PSG will come for him and its around 20 or 30m to get him.
Juanfran- Seriously? He isn't much of an upgrade and doesn't offer much in attack.
Lovren - This might happen, but Caulker would be much better because of his speed.
Shmelzer - Good buy, but Moreno and Rodriguez are younger and better.
    Shaqiri - I doubt that's possible.
Konoplyanka - Most likely and the best amongst all.
Lallana - Fingers crossed and hope to see him next week.
Lacazette - Lyon are not going to let him go.
Mascherano - Doubt FSG would sanction a move.
Tello - Again one which can be done, but I'd rather want us to go for Pedro or Alexis if available.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like it but you know it's bonkers right? Sign 9 players in the summer? Integrate 6 players in to the first team in a world cup year with less pre-season?

I do like all of the players mentioned and believe their is real interest in most of them. If we get three or four I would be made up.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Although he's a fantastic passer of the ball, Verrati is as slow as snail and does not stand a chance in the premier league. The right player to go for is Kovacic!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Agreed we need a cool head that can read the game with pressure, like Kompany and I seriously have hope for Sakho if he is partnered with a player that effectively has a good football brain as Sakho's strength can be effective

    ReplyDelete
  43. B Rodgers should bring in these 3 players from Southampton for £45M:

AM: A Lallana(26) for £18-£22M Max and no higher
    CB: D Lovren(24) for £12-£16M
    RB: N Clyne(23) for £4-£7M

Those three players from Southampton should be brought to club in next two to three weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am just wondering if Carra had decided to give it one more season whether we would have been a bit more tighter at the back this season? Our defence improved last season when Skrtel was dropped for Carra. Leadership clearly is the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lallana, mascherano (who appears to possibly be heading out of barca as he is into his final 12 months) and Ashley cole. Switch flanno to right back with wisdom and let Robinson learn from cole. Need central defender and a striker but don't know who.

    ReplyDelete
  46. i just hope we go for a couple of 25-35 mill pound proven quality players instead of 6 10 mill pound players if you know what i mean. A world class defensive mid would help us as much as a new center back aswell i think , Arturo Vidal or Lars Bender would be my pick but they are long shots

    ReplyDelete
  47. That's the same defence that let in 50 goals. To be honest I'd rather see some top quality defensive transfers. Dream would be Hummels, Moreno, William Carvalho and maybe a very cheeky bid for Iker Casillas. Opinions?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Reports in Portugal suggest that Liverpool are now in pole position to sign Carvalho 30mp .Carvalho's buy-out clause is believed to be £37m.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Brendan Rodgers LMA Manager year. Fully deserved. Rodgers is the best signing we can make this coming season by giving him a long term contract.

    ReplyDelete
  50. In my experience, players like that are mainly made, not born. You need to have the respect of the people around you, to know them well, to know the team's tactics and the manager's demands perfectly, to be consistent, and part of a stable team structure, in order to lead the group on the field. It's a great strength for a squad to have, but it's not something that you can just buy in.

There are plenty, and have always been plenty, of "leaders" in English football, who'd make a big show of shouting and pointing at set pieces, but most of the time no-one pays these characters any attention; they are doing it, most of them, most of the time, to impress the fans or the manager, or just to offload some tension. A lot of the better defenders aren't leaders at all, but quiet and focused, calm and authoritative, and give confidence to their teammates, and shape to their team, by what they do on the pitch, not what they say.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't think anyone is suggesting we make bad signings just not overhaul half the squad in one window, breaking up a squad who have just challenged for the league for the first time in years. Wanting to challenge Europe's giants and big spenders in no time at all is just unrealistic and like I have said potentially harmful to the team mentality. When was the last time you saw a Liverpool side look as united as we did this season? We need to add quality but handle it correctly. It's actually beyond debate as what you are suggesting simply won't happen whether it be the correct course or not.

    ReplyDelete
  52. what can they do? Their manager is going to be offered the Tottenham post and good transfer budget? And some of their key players are wanted by top 1-7 clubs? So what can they do? We didn't want to lose Alonso and Mascherano , five years ago but Real Madrid and Barcelona came in and they both left.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Just hoping B Rodgers brings in better players than what we have as we need to build strong squad. We are already playing catch up with these teams in squad class and depth: Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Chelsea, Man City, Monaco, PSG and Real Madrid.

As every season this teams spend between £60-£120M on players and have been for last 5 seasons. And i am sure all those sides will be strengthening again with similar amounts this season

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am pretty sure I mentioned Toure and Lucas as being good players in the dressing room. It is a team of people, I think people can forget that. People have relationships with each other they react positively and negatively to things that happen to colleagues and friends. Like I said in the long run I may get rid of a lot of the players you mentioned (not getting in to a debate over Allen and Sakho today) but not in one window.

Mate you have to learn the difference between what you want and what will actually happen. What your suggesting simply won't.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lovren(24) had his first season in premiership and is ranked in the top 5 defenders this season. What else is there to prove? Lovren(24) would improve defence and squad. Lovren(24) is better than Coates and Toure put together and he had a better season than Sakho(23)

    ReplyDelete
  56. We are not going to sign Lovren because he is no better than what we have at the moment. FACT!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Lucas(27) does not fit B Rodgers system. Even J Allen(24) struggles apart from passing side ways and intercepting few things

What do these two really offer side when they are on pitch?

Toure(33) is 6 years past his best and should be shipped out this summer with coates(23) and replaced by Lovren(24) and Caulker(22), both players should cost club: £23-£24M

Where Man United are going to spend £25-£30m on M Hummels(25) Of B Dortmund

    ReplyDelete
  58. a new defense is what we need , and no way would i drop henderson from that line up and have diame ahead of him , costa will be at chelsea next year so forget about him ,

    ReplyDelete
  59. Lovren(24) is better than most of our defenders the only defenders on his class and level at club are Agger and Skrtel. Yet they are both 5 years older than him

    ReplyDelete
  60. Let's see if Lovren moves to a big club in the new season. You are clutching at straws.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Mangala and Inigo Martinez at CB . Alex Sandro left back. Seamys Coleman right bacK. Sorted

    ReplyDelete
  62. Both offer tackles and interceptions when on the pitch. Allen does more closing down of opposition than most people on in the team as well as always being available for a pass despite being under pressure. Lots not forget what team beat Arsenal so emphatically. As squad players we could do much worse, in fact this article is talking of one such player. I am yet to be convinced that Sissokho or Mvilla would be in anyway better at doing what Rodgers wants his players to do.

I like Lovren and wanted him in the summer. I was disappointed that he went to Soto and he has proved me right, having said that I cannot see Soto letting him go if they also lose Shaw and Lallana. The money from those two players alone would mean they would not have to sell another so could hold out for as much as possible as he only signed in the summer. I wouldn't bank on United signing Hummels either. Caulker seems the most likely of the players mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Costa is going to Chelsea that's pretty much done, plus forwards are not a priority IMO.

2 full backs who can run all game, can support in attack aswell as in defence, otherwise we will forever be a team without width.

And please, I'm just hoping for someone strong in midfield, without Hendo we get overrun.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Muhammad Ibrahim9:59 pm, May 13, 2014

Lallana and Diego Costa will be quality additions. Mohamed Diame with respect is a decent player but we should be looking for better. Lars Bender should be the target should we want a DM. Just like at the start of the spending of Kenny, we had former players calling for the signing of the likes of Downing as a player we really needed, which lead much of our transfer fund wasted. We are in the CL one of the biggest competition in the world and for the sake of the club we need to think big. This is our opportunity in the window to get in 3 or 4 players that will take us forward. Diame will be 27 in the summer he is at the top of his game in a far smaller team. We need young quality players to come into the team, this will help us move forward and sustain our challenge for top 4 and perhaps the title for a good number of years.

I just hope we don't do what we did after previous good seasons and times when we had money, when we bought in players in reality that were not good enough to help us either sustain our level or improve it.

This is not Fifa or FM but since we are in the CL our former players must demand we go in for the top top players and not people to fill in gaps in our squad or first 11.

    I hope we get:

    Ginter
    Shaw
    Mateo De Sciglio
    Lars Bender
    Mateo Kovacic
    Will Hughes
    Son Heung Min
    Konoplyanka

    ReplyDelete
  65. Diame will never be a first choice player at Liverpool. We MUST have better players than that if we are realistic about winning the big trophies!!
However, for 6 or 7 million I think he would be a good squad player to have. But for not much more money than that.

    ReplyDelete
  66. He is class quality defender, B Rodgers should bring these 2 CB'S to club: Lovren(24) and Caulker(22) for combined total of £22M

Apart from Agger(29) and Skrtel(29), those two above are better than any of the defenders we currently have at club

    ReplyDelete
  67. Get him if he is available for around £7 million at most. Anything more and we should walk away.

    ReplyDelete
  68. We should be talking of signing defenders more then midfielders and forwards. Our problem is mostly stopping not scoring goals. Lallana, a winger and forward is what is required in the attacking sense, then we should concentrate on signing some quality defenders.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Everyone agrees our defense needs an upgrade. What we really need back there is pace, size and strength in the air against set pieces; a tall order; pun intended. I don't see Mascherano being big enough to help in that area. I also have reservations about Lallana's physicality. Coutinho is terrific for his age but there are games where he disappears either from prior game fatigue hangover or from physical intimidation of the opponent. While hitting the gym should help there I would like us to land a bigger guy with real pace who can stand up to the physical nature of the league like Everton's Barkley (not suggesting him 'cause he wouldn't come anyway) as a good alter-ego for Coutinho.
I trust BR and hope our scouts don't get outdone by our rivals or our front office getting outdone. Truthfully, I thought some of the guys Tottenham signed were good signings but they just lacked direction or chemistry. Don't forget though we have some kids who can add something special like IBE and Texeira. I would add
    1. good attacking midfielder who can go box to box; think Henderson but with better finishing skills.
    2. Defensive mid with enough size not to get bowled over like Allen and Lucas.
    3. At least 1 defender like described earlier; perhaps a second to replace Johnson who seems to be a defensive liability and not offset by enough positive offensive stats.

    ReplyDelete
  70. absolutely true regarding midfield..............

    ReplyDelete
  71. Imo some of you need to remember that Brendan & FSG have made a commitment to player developmemt so comments implying anything more than 6 signings can be dismissed straight away! With our loanees returning & several U21s promoted to the first team squad i'd say we already have our squad depth, what we need is real class to fill key positions & promote competition. Borini, Yesil & Hodzic would provide ample depth & cover for the SAS so no more strikers for me! Ibe will be the fire under Sterling's ass & Suso, Teixeira, & Alberto can do likewise for Coutinio. Henderson is great but Lucas & Allen are squad players for me, therefore i think we need a total footballer in CM to finally go some way to replacing Stevie's lost attributes since he became our DM & Rakitic would be my choice, Connor Coady would cover DM. We haven't had a quality LW for decades imo & Konoplyanka or Iturbe would be my choice to slot in there. At LB i'd have Alberto Moreno with Enrique as cover & at RB i'd have Martin Montoya with Flanno & McLaughin as cover. With Wisdom & Ilori returning to the club, not to mention Kelly still on the bench, i don't see the point in signing Caulker or any other CB unless we're selling one or two. We'll also need a GK to provide competition to Mig & we'll definately need to sell the dead wood before the season kicks off (Jones, Reina, Coates, Toure, Cissokho, Moses, Assaidi & Aspas). I wouldn't sign Lallana or Shaw because at 25-30m each, there are better players to be had! No player is signed until the buyer or seller states as much (Salah, Mk) but at 37m i'd happily let chelski have him. Diame is the right price & i can agree that he's slightly underrated but he's inconsistant & i can't say he's any better than Coady so what's the point in signing him!?! Shaw & Lallana are over priced hence Moreno as my choice at LB & (if i was buying a FWD) i'd buy Firmino or Cuadrado before Lallana!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Three strikers won't work, too many egos. Need a good deputy

    ReplyDelete
  73. Also some of you got short memories because Mascherano was giving the ball away & committing fouls all over the gaff & if you check his stats you'll see he's no better than Lucas & in many instances worse! Don't allow nostalgia to get in the way of what is clear to see.... mascherano wants to come back because we're on the up & he's on the way down! Time to move on.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hard tacklers like mascherano, makelele...

    ReplyDelete
  75. In the team cited above; no places for Sterling, Coutinho nor Henderson. Coutinhi and Sterling will be even better for the season they have just had. One hard tackling midfielder is all thats needed and a whole new back four, especially fullbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Attacking side of things is fine. Maybe a signing or two like Tello, Iturbe, Greizmann or Rakitic.
Defence needs more work. Need a world class Defensive/combatative Midfielder and definately a left back and a centre back. But the centre back must be a Carragher type Vocal leader in defence.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Diame is way overrated I don't know why people rate him at all. I see quite a bit of west ham as I've got a few west ham mates and Diame is very very average. He may have one or two good games a season (usually against us) but if you see him more often he's usually very very average. Steer well clear I say.

    ReplyDelete
  78. This is what I thought. I pity you and your mates for having to watch West Ham regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think the problem with liverpool was mainly individual errors which cost us the league. I dont think BR will go for all the luxury names mentioned but I reckon he will buy big on a attacking midfielder who can be a yaya toure type player who can defend when going gets tough and attack. I would love a good back up keeper then go for the attack/defence player and a winger for left side and left back and right back are priority. I think there will be some surprises I mean who knew Sakho before lfc got him. the 5 players I think would improve lfc are

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - He played less games then lallana and still scored 9 goals and 10 assists this season. 25 million would bring him as we can offer champions league

Micah Richards and PAPADOPOULOS - underated but he would improve right back area or cb plus the greek dude is strong in the air but reads the game well and brave.

    forward/winger - LORENZO INSIGNE - napoli
swap lucas and cash for this player as rafa wants lucas. sterling and coutinho couldnt
goals so we couldnt kill to many games.

defense mid - Junior Malanda - wolfsburg
young with pace plus he can chip in with goals.

    left back Jetro Willems
young with good left and right foot and can improve.

I reckon these players can improve lfc. promote youth

I would love a good back up keeper then go for the attack/defence player and a winger for left side and left back and right back are priority. I think there will be some surprises I mean who knew Sakho before lfc got him. the 6 players I think would improve lfc are

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - He played less games then lallana and still scored 9 goals and 10 assists this season. 25 million would bring him as we can offer champions league

Micah Richards and PAPADOPOULOS - underated but he would improve right back area or cb plus the greek dude is strong in the air but reads the game well and brave.

    forward/winger - LORENZO INSIGNE - napoli
swap lucas and cash for this player as rafa wants lucas. sterling and coutinho couldnt score goals so we couldnt kill to many games.

defense mid - Junior Malanda - wolfsburg
young with pace plus he can chip in with goals.

    left back Jetro Willems psv
young with good left and right foot and can improve.

I reckon these players can improve lfc. promote youth

  81. I reckon Sandro from tottenham would be a better bet as we are not going Europa league next year but champions league plus fat sam will put 10-20 million on Diame the minute he finds out lfc are calling

  84. All the names mentioned above are actually really decent. I really dont think Mkhitaryan will leave dortmund after one year. I also agree that it'll be a dream if Brendan can find a 'Yaya Toure'. but in the mean time .. bringing back mascherano would be a coup for us. he'll do the job in defensive midfield. Gerrard has adapted well in that role and he can still do the job .. against Burnley that is! death wish in europe though

  85. We have bought enough "future" players. Altho mneyball has an optimistic outlook where injured players are right up their alley

  86. With costa and suarez we would have destroyed defences. On the plus side we still have (HOPEFULLY) mr suarez! Why not go back in for damiao. He's another guy fallen off the radar a bit and may be more easy to deal this time. Still a powerhouse attacker as hardcore as costa
