You're a Hypocrite: Aldo blasts £2m 'cheat' & slates 'King of Spin' for Suarez slur

As part of his tedious repertoire of mind-games, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has twice this season accused Luis Suarez of diving, and Liverpool legend John Aldridge has slammed the Portuguese for his rampaging hypocrisy over the issue.

After Chelsea's 2-1 victory over LFC in December, Mourinho accused Suarez of perpetrating an 'acrobatic swimming pool jump to try to get a penalty', which is a ridiculous thing to say considering Samuel Eto'o's assault on the Uruguayan is quite clearly one of the most blatant and cynical fouls of the season.

Am I wrong? Here is a reminder of how Eto'o deliberately took out Suarez:

Then, on Monday, Mourinho conveniently claimed he didn't see Eto'o's blatant dive against Spurs, and went on to divert attention away from the incident by making a cheap, thinly-veiled reference to Suarez. He told reporters:

"I did not see a video of Eto’o and the penalty but I want to. But you know the kings of the penalties, you know where they are – and they’re not here"

Mourinho's ongoing negativity towards Suarez irritates Aldo, and in his column for the Liverpool Echo this week, the ex-Reds striker barked:

"Typical deflection from the King of Spin. Samuel Eto’o cheats, and Mourinho starts pointing his finger elsewhere. Alex Ferguson did it for years, but the act is wearing very thin"

It's true that Suarez has often dived in the past, and he still retains a reputation as someone who goes to ground easily. That's his (deserved) cross to bear, but the accusation of play-acting cannot be levelled at the Uruguayan this season. The striker's behaviour on the pitch is exemplary so far, and he's clearly trying hard to change his approach to the game. Indeed, in a recent interview, he told ESPN:

"I’m improving my attitude on the pitch because I know I was wrong in the past. I was creating an image of myself that I know wasn’t me."

Suarez deserves credit for making a concerted effort to remove the shady side of his game, and when Chelsea come to town next month, I'm sure the Uruguayan will play a big part in (fairly) derailing Mourinho's quest for the title.

  1. Here's to another Arsenal game next month... Can't wait to see what he has to say after the match

  2. Moyes did something similar and it came back and bit him on the bum....hopefully we will see Luis doing another dramatic celebrating dive in front of the oppositions bench when the chavs come to town

  3. I used to be a massive Mourinho fan in the past but his return to the EPL sees him spew nothing but tripe whenever he opens his mouth.

    nom..nom...nom...Mou you are next!!

  5. Aldo dont let him irritate you, just look at the players who has played under mourinho. One of them had a very good game last night against arsenal in the champions league, he never stopped diving all night and trust me I could go into double figures if wanted to and name every one of them that played under him. Pay back will come aldo when play them at anfield mate and we'll destroy them. He's just a boring little man with a team that plays boring football. YNWA

  6. Mourinhi is well and truly rattled!
His M.O is to deflect any and all negativity away from his precious team at all costs.
His Utopian return is in danger of drowning, much like Atlantis...

Chelsea in all honesty will probably win the league but it riles Mourinho no end that Rodgers/LFC style of football has taken the gloss off his glorious return.
Citeh, much like Chelsea can only field 11 players at any given time so in the end it boils down to chemistry of the team and style of football. Rodgers has the latter in abundance and if the club finally employ a ruthless sports negotiator to handle nothing but transfers, we will soon have the former.

Rodgers style of football coupled with Champions league football is enough to attract a different caliber of player and that is why the next 10 games and also the next transfer window are the most important in the club's illustrious history, dramatic maybe? Forget the league, if we fail to qualify for the Champions league then we run the risk of losing quality players and falling behind the inevitable wake up call to Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton for that matter.
I hope the players are up to this run in, as most have not experienced a situation like this before, motivation is what is needed most at this moment in time.

  7. Fully agree mate. He has talked some amount of horse sh*t this season and is becoming very unlikable from a neutral standpoint.

The English press afford him way to much leeway which he exploits to the max. Seriously, he must be privately embarrassed by some comments he has made this season as he has lost some respect from his peers. Obviously winning is all that matters and he's prepared to look like a fool to gain any slight advantage.

I would hate if BR started carrying on like he does in the future. Mourinho has grasped the mantle relinquished by Ferguson with both hands..he knows he's the top dog in the league and his ever expanding ego fully embraces this fact.

  8. Yeah hope we win the game this time but mate. That game was at everton we were 2-0 up and it ended 2-2 if im not mistaken, but it would be great to see suarez making a fool out mourinho. Lol. YNWA

  9. He said "Kings of penalties" rather than "the king of penalties" and "they're not here" rather than "he's not here". In which case he was just deflecting criticism of his team with a scattergun comment and not specifically referring to anyone in particular.

I still think we should gently boo him though

  10. I agree. When Chelsea won 2 in a row with him, everything was about them. Liverpool's enthralling style of play has everyone drooling while chelsea just win while no one really cares.

  11. I hope we f**king gobble Chelski when they come to town

  12. I'm not bothered by what he says but it is indeed getting 'tedious'. Mourinho always liked the sound of his own voice, laughed at his own jokes so why bother responding to it. By responding to every single derogatory comment he makes about other clubs/players, we're just going to give ourselves a headache for no reason. We don't need to explain ourselves to him whenever he feels like accusing us of somethiing.

On the other hand, these kinds of mind games are good, it means we're back in a position of contention, if we were 5th or lower, nobody talks about us that much. Let's hope everyone just keeps their focus and let their football do the talking.

  13. Aldo,Mo has snarled you. Maintain a sense of decorum!

  14. Should have been 3-2, wrongfully disallowed suarez goal in injury time.

    ReplyDelete
  15. booing him will just satisfy him. that means he did exactly what he wanted, get the fans against him not his team and add pressure to our players to beat him. just let it pass and give a huge song and ovation to our players. put postive focus behind our players and let the negativity of there fans course through there team.

trust me I hate chelski, I think I would celebrate a demotion of them as much as a title for us, but sinking down to him is what he wants.

  16. Mourinho must have forgotten 'Didier the Diver' was the prior 'king of the penalties.'

  17. A more sinister version of Fergie.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That actually looks like a foul on Eto'o to me, but was that not offside anyway?

You should try to get footage of Oscar's outrageous decision to kick the keeper to win a penalty instead of tapping in empty net

I ignore Mourinho now. Nothing he says reflects reality or his genuine position

  20. Manchester City have appointed Rodolfo Borrell as technical director. I posted here that Liverpool sacked Borrell because Liverpool suspected that Borrell was secretly negotiating with City. I like this management.

  21. It's just a shame that such a great manager can be such a very very little man

    ReplyDelete
  22. And we still have no replacement, how about that management?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Relax, it's not an urgent signing in the sense that a first team manager is...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Any form of communication from Liverpool Football Club with Mr. Mourinho is strictly banned...except for a funny tweet from John Henry.

But yeah, we need to ignore him. He craves the attention.

  27. Mourinho is rapidly becoming a clown of interviews. Remember he sed his eggs need a father but in an interview later someone asked him about one of his players n he went went on to say he is not the players father, contradicting himself. Even eto celebrated like an old man after wat da clown sed. He must look at da incorrect decisions his players have on referees before commenting on suarez.

  28. Isn't this what all managers do.
They always try to deflect anything away from their own players and on to someone else.
Typical response is just the usual "I didn't see it."
Mourinho obviously likes to take it to another level, because he loves the attention.

  29. Out of curiosity I checked that page weeks ago. The roles you list all existed before and after the sackings of Borrel and McParland. The only name I do not remember seeing previously is Tim Jenkins working as 'head of development analysis'. Other than that no additions have been made and nothing has been reshuffled, meaning that the two vacated roles remain empty. IMO it wasn't a restructure.

I don't see the point of the post? Unless you thought I was asking about the management of the youth/academy set up? :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. It is on footy manager ;) I know, it doesn't effect things right now, but it just hints that it was unexpected and not an organisational restructure or 'change of direction'.

  31. Hypocrisy is rampant in today's world and in football. It's the win at all cost mentality excuse that people use to stamp on others. It's sad.

All players and managers due unfortunately and it stinks.

I would people not to sugar coat things like they do now.

Mourinho is the King at these things and the media falls for it every time.

  32. Slightly off topic but everyone should go and read this. I think the best article on Steven Gerrard yet. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/13/steven-gerrard-liverpool

  35. Mourinho is a giant douchebag, occasionally good for some comic relief, but mainly a manipulative bully, who has the press eating out of his hand. I'm not sure if it works, but his statements definetly can have an impact - forget the mind games - it's the impact with refs that is a worry. Mourinho comes out and says "suarez makes acrobatic swimming pool dives" seems lik an innocuous accusation, but then figure, this statement gets publish in dozens of papers and stories, which are then read by referees - when Suarez gets fouled in the box, what is likely to be top of mind? I think he's crossed the line on a few occasions, and should be punished - he is explicitly trying to influence refs, just as Fergie did.
The other side of it is general bias towards bigger or supposedly better teams - they will get more calls in their favour by their reputation, just look at Bayern, Barca in CL, the calls that went in City and Chelsea's favour against us, some of the calls that went their way were attrocious.
But if there's one thing that should work in our favour is that Mourinho's luck is bound to run out soon. Chelsea have been way too lucky for this to continue, Lucky against us - not to have Eto'o sent off, not to have a pen called. Lucky against Tottenham 4 goals handed to them - a player being sent off (should not have been red), they got lucky against Everton, Lucky against West Brom - far too much luck. It will run out.
We've had some bad luck - things should get better. Time to knock mourinho the fack off his perch!

  36. He secretly fantasises about Saurez, a bit like a scorned ex who won't take no for an answer!

    ReplyDelete
  37. One special big cheat definatly not at lfc just ask his wife?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Some may disagree, but even if Mourinho could become our manager and guarantee titles I still wouldn't have him.

Of what value is it to gain the whole world but lose your soul?

    ReplyDelete
  39. The same question I asked on this site before LFC signed Luis Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The difference being that Suarez is not a devil incarnate as recent attitudinal and behavioural changes have shown.

Mourinho on the other hand, the Happy One or the Special One depending on which version of him you ask continually demonstrates his inner poison and ungraciousness at the world around him.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I cannot remember Mourinho having this 'go f*** yourself' attitude the first time round in the EPL.

It is like the cat takes a pee in his porridge every morning. I cannot ever remembering him being this morbid.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Funny you said that coz that's all I remember him ever being.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mourinho does comic relief and Fergie does red nose day

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mourinho is a gobshite- that is old news.

He only cares for winning, which is fair enough and I'm sure Chelsea fans have no problems with his antics (as we probably wouldn't if he was our boss).

The best thing you can do with Mourinho is just ignore his comments because they are clearly insincere and an attempt at manipulation.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yep, read that one myself. Pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think he is a quite a bitter man, despite all his success. He really couldn't ever cope with the love Barca got, even before he went to Real.

He was complaining earlier this season about how no-one loves Chelsea or gives him/them credit. It is because he doesn't play good football. I'm not saying he exclusively plays dreck, most of the players he has worked with are too good for that, but doesn't encourage it.

I think he has always had many of the traits people complain about this season but they've been drawn into sharper focus after the implosion at Real.

    ReplyDelete
  47. No pal. He was obviously having a go at LFC. He fears Liverpool the most.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mourinho will blame 'dives' (which will be undoubted fouls) and the ref for his trouncing at Anfield next month.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That Swan dive in front of Moyes was the best celebration I have ever see. Was really funny and old love t see him repeat it in front of Mourinho. Would be even sweeter than the Moyes one.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Heighway hasn't been involved for ages, he retired many years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Surely it's only sections of the sycophantic media and love blind Chelsea supporters who don't know that Mourinho is a proper dickhead.
