Scroll down for full team: Liverpool face Arsenal today in yet another crunch game in the Premier League, and the incentives to win couldn't be more attractive. Victory would take the Reds 5, 6 and 10 points clear of Everton, Spurs and Man United respectively, and to within 5 points of Arsenal at the top of the table. The potential rewards are huge, but can LFC do it?
Absolutely. I feel very confident that Liverpool will win the game today, and win well.
The Reds always seem to raise their game at Anfield against the very top teams, and after the recent annihilation of Everton, there's every chance that level of performance will be repeated.
On the injury front, there's no change: Agger, Sakho, Enrique etc are still out. Allen is fit, but I can't see him coming back into the starting line-up. If it 'aint broke, dont't fix it, and Rodgers will probably pick the same team that started against West Brom, and for me. After all, it's the same team that hammered Everton.
Reds hero Jan Molby insists that Liverpool 'let themselves down' at the Emirates, and suggests it's possible that Joe Allen may start. He told the Liverpool Echo:
"Liverpool need to learn from that [losing the midfield battle]. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brendan set his side up a little differently to what we have seen of late, with maybe Joe Allen in for Philippe Coutinho, in a bid to get a bit more control in the middle of the park"
Even with Aaron Ramsey missing, Arsenal have power and options in midfield, and Rodgers may indeed choose to bring in Joe Allen to give the Reds more solidity in that area, and provide support for Steven Gerrard.
I personally don't want to see that change. Bringing Allen on for Coutinho last week was a negative move (did it make a blind bit of difference?), and swapping them out today is also negative. Who will Arsenal fear more: Allen or Coutinho?
Leaving the Brazilian - a goal threat - on the bench will give the Gunners a psychological advantage. Start with Coutinho, and if it's not working, then make a change. As such, the line-up I want to see:
---------------- Mignolet
Flanagan ---- Toure --- Skrtel ---- Cissokho
----------- Gerrard -- Hendo
-------------- Coutinho
Sterling ---------------Sturridge
-------------- Suarez
CONFIRMED TEAM: Mignolet, Flanagan, Cissokho, Toure, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge
SUBS: Jones, Kelly, Ibe, Moses, Aspas, Allen, Alberto
ARSENAL: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Wilshere, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Ozil, Giroud
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson predicts a 2-1 win for LFC, and in his pre-match analysis, Lawro claimed Rodgers 'got it wrong' in the club's defeat in the corresponding fixture at the Emirates, but insisted that he'll probably get it right today. He told the BBC:
"Liverpool's home form has been great but, in the corresponding fixture at the Emirates Stadium in November, they played three at the back and Arsenal won comfortably because the Reds' wing-backs did not play well.
"If Liverpool want to stay there [in the top four] they will have to get something out of their games with the teams above and around them"
My prediction: 3-1 to LFC

It will really hard for us to win if we unable to score goals first. Arsenal defense is very solid and their attack is great as well. The are the most consistent team now in the league. We need more than tactic and skills to win. Maybe some good fortune for now. Anyway I wish to see a intense match today. Good luck LFC.
ReplyDelete6 games in a row we haven't beaten Arsenal at HOME!! Time to stop joking around...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure we have the defensive quality right now to play counter-attacking football. I'd rather see Allen in there today, probably for Coutinho, with Allen and Henderson rotating to change the midfield shape. I want us to have the option of keeping and recycling possession. There are going to be times in the game where we want to keep Arsenal at arms length. Though I'm sure you're right that Arsenal would be glad not to face Coutinho in that line-up.
ReplyDeleteBut either way I see no reason for us not to get the win today, by the odd goal in 3 or 5. That said my mind keeps going back to Arsenal's away performance gainst Bayern last March, and to their away performance against Dortmund in November. The best teams in Europe, and Arsenal totally spanked them away from home. They are a really dangerous side.
I do think we have the players to trouble their back line though, and I can imagine Suarez going on the warpath! The key thing will be pulling their midfielders out of position to exploit space; they do have terrific shape, but they are not always fastest to get back into it after an attack breaks down, and sometimes they are slow to react to simple things like a quick switch between the flanks. Those will be our moments.
On another note, shame it's an early kick-off. Those games are hardly ever as intense as they might be. A big fixture like this should happen under floodlights, in my opinion, with the crowd and players fired up. But at least it means we don't have to wait too long. Excited!
I like coutinho when he is thinking of setting another player up. That's what he did against Everton. When goes into I need to score goals mode he stops giving those simple through balls . I have to say he is technically a solid player with skills and vision but he is shooting is poor. I'd play Allen just so we can win the midfield battle . Arsenal play with one striker and 3 attacking mids. All who are skillful and technically great . If we win our midfield battle and get the ball to our strikers we will score. They have been smart with their defensive play coz we all know matersacker is slow with very little mobility but he is good in the air. But they have a quick and mobile defender in koscielny . Their RB and LB are good going forward and defensively sound. Our LB is our weakest link that makes our defense weak also toure has been good on occasions but makes stupid mistakes. We miss Jose Enrique and a fully fit Johnson . If we defend well and play with confidence arsenal are in for a shock . And if we make silly mistakes we Lfc fans are in for a shit weekend.
ReplyDeleteCome on Liverpool . YNWA
Unfortunately we never raise our game against Arsenal at Anfield. Dismal record. Still, I'm feeling quietly confident.
ReplyDeleteIf we want to gain control of midfield we are going to need to press and force Arsenal into mistakes.
ReplyDeleteHenderson and Allen showed exactly what they could do as a partnership in a 1-2 midfield vs Spurs and Gerrard should be fine with these tow ahead of him.
I posted this team during the week and is without a doubt the team i would go with what is available to us at the moment.
------------Mignolet---------------
Flanno Skrtel Toure Cissokho
------------Gerrard----------------
------Allen----------Hendo-------
-Sterling---Suarez---Sturridge-
Would not start Coutinho for this match. We need to control of the midfield and a trio of Gerrard, Hendo and Allen will give you exactly that.
I love how JK specified 'to LFC', after people last week thought he was saying 4-1 to WBA, haha.
ReplyDeleteGood spot :-)
ReplyDeleteNot the biggest fan of allen but agree he should be playing today instead of coutinho, we need to have a better midfield while coutinho hasnt been the best lately. If br goes with the same attacking line up, it could be trouble! Really must end this misery of getting raped by arseanal
ReplyDeleteWhat we have got going for us this season is our home form. We have the 3rd best record at home with City in 1st and Chelsea 2nd.
ReplyDeleteIf we win today then we will only be 5 points of Arsenal. If City and Chelsea win then we will only be 6 points behind them pending a win from us. That is how close it is at the moment.
Going to be a cracker!
In Gerrard's absense earlier in the season, Allen, Henderson & Lucas played as a formidable trio in the middle of the park. I can't see why they can't do the same with Gerrard taking Lucas' place in front of the back 4.
ReplyDeleteI like Coutinho, I really do, but i feel that his form has dipped, somewhat, and maybe using him as an impact player could actually help his confidence as he'll be coming on against tired players, where he can use his magical passes to even better effect.
Well.. Cant blame the people, everybody should spot the teams home and away, its the way it works in football!
ReplyDeleteEveryone wanting Coutinho out just like before the Everton game. He'll make you eat your words again.
ReplyDeleteI do not think it is a matter of wanting Coutinho out, It is about getting the balance right for this match.
ReplyDeleteArsenal are a totally different team compared to Everton.
6-0
ReplyDeleteIt's not these big games at home that I fear, it will be the next game, and the game after that, where big points are made, it's all good winning against Arsenal here, but what will happen next game go on for a draw? We need to get some momentum we are at that stage of the season now where every point is crucial, Chelsea, Man city and Arsenal are sweeping the lower teams aside every game we need to be doing the same.
ReplyDeleteOn the point of Allen and Coutinho I agree, there is no point in making the change Allen provides 0 goal threat, if I'm truly honest if there was to be a change in the middle of the park at 60 mins it should be Gerrard for Allen, Gerrard has been a bit vulnerable at the back on the ball, and I think Allen would be a bit safer in possession ( shorter passes etc )
Biggest game of the season so far, and given our position in the table, a win will mean so much more than just 3 points. Both sides will score, and I can see it being very tight, maybe only one goal in it. If it was an away game I would probably start with Allen, but we are at home and should be looking to attack right from the off. Coutinho will give them something else to think about defensively, Allen won't, it's as simple as that.
ReplyDeleteAllen's contribution is not about producing a goal threat.
ReplyDeleteWould we have won the game vs Spurs if it was not for Henderson and Allen dominating the game?
The team with the better defence will win, and as a die-hard LFC fan, I am a but skeptical on how we will pull this win off with kolo and cissokho in our back 4.
ReplyDeleteThis match is all about the midfield battle.
ReplyDeleteI never said Allen didn't contribute to us dominating the game against Tottenham, I said he produces 0 goal threat.
ReplyDeleteCoutinho can play the killer pass and plays higher up the field, whereas Allen (unless asked to do so) will never make a forward run which will put himself in a position to score.
True Alllen put in an outstanding performance, but am I right in saying Allen was playing instead of Gerrard not Coutinho? I would like to see Gerrard dropped at some point, Rodgers jokingly admitted Liverpool play better without him, but personally I think he must see a difference too.
Haha, it's common sense though ;)
ReplyDeleteWith two mobile midfielders i.e Hendo and Allen ahead of Gerrard it should not be be a problem.
ReplyDeleteGerrard still has the ability to read the game and spread the passes all over the show.
Mobility and pressing in front of Gerrard is the key. The same with Lucas who did not have to make one successful tackle vs Spurs with Allen and Hendo doing all the hard work...
That's besides the point if he was injured at the time if that's the case then that's poor management by Rodgers
ReplyDeleteI said before yes Allen (like any other footballer) can make the forward runs, when asked to do so, Rodgers tested him in the number 10 role, and provided 0 goals.
IMO the reason Allen is not in the starting 11 is firstly, because he is injured, secondly he has Lucas for competition, arguably now Henderson who is filling in there, and lastly Gerrard, who shouldn't be playing there anyway, I don't see how Allen can have any place in the starting 11 until Gerrard makes way.
It doesn't matter if Allen 'lives and breathes' Rodgers' style of play; his actual impact on LFC is NIL (in terms of winning points; improving the team etc). He is a player without a position: he's not a DM, and is not as effective there as others; he's not an attacking mid, as he doesn't score/create goals. What exactly does he do?! What is his specific, measurable impact? Why is Allen integral to LFC? Where's the proof he's important to the team?
ReplyDeleteAnd again with the 'Rodgers is infallible in the transfer market' stuff? Just because he paid £15m for Allen doesn't mean it's the right decision. LFC have got nothing for that money. Absolutely nothing. If the club has, please highlight the specific benefits.
Yes, the game would still have been won because LFC's attackers scored and created the goals. Allen is not the reason LFC won that game.
ReplyDeleteNice pretty diagonal long balls is great, but why would Rodgers accommodate a team supposedly being "built for the future" for one player in his 30s just to spread the play?
ReplyDeleteGerrard's long passes are too direct, Rodgers wants the ball to be moved up the field as a team, hoofing the ball up to a winger 30-40 yards up the field means players need to catch up.
I don't agree Allen and Hendo should be Infront of Gerrard his best position is further up the field, but IMO someone else should be in the frame learning for the future, I'm not saying Liverpool should just chuck him out that would be ridiculous, I just think the team should start adapting without constantly looking for ways in which to utilise a player who will not be with us for much longer.
Afraid of Gerrard being run over. Would have preferred to see Flano on left and Kelly on right....hope Cissokho scores a gold from nowhere and LFC comfortably seals a win. Hope Ars have an off day and LFC makes up for the previous game fiasco!
ReplyDeleteAttackers don't score goals all alone, out of the blue, do they ?
ReplyDeleteThose 11 will have to do it because we have zip all on the bench. Good thing we focused on building our squad rather than strengthening our first 11 last summer and in January. Still a historic 6-0 victory I say.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope our midfield can cope today. That is where the game will be won or lost.
ReplyDeleteNo, but the suggest here seems to be that LFC would not have won the game without Allen, which is just not a credible statement (IMO).
ReplyDeleteAllen was an instrumental figure in our most convincing 5-0 win away to Spurs. You clearly just do not see the actual of Rodgers signing Allen.
ReplyDeleteSpurs 0-5 LFC...
ReplyDeleteAllen and Henderson were the reason why we won the Spurs game.
ReplyDeletemaybe you should go watch it again.
How was he instrumental? It's a team of 11 players, not just one. What exactly did Allen do that helped the team win? Give me some examples of his devastating impact on the game.
ReplyDeleteYou just persistently lionise Allen because you don't want to admit you're wrong, not because you genuinely believe Allen is the second coming. You've championed him so much you don't want to lose face, even thought everything points to Allen not being important to LFC.
If he's so integral, and if Allen is the reason LFC beat Spurs, why is he not starting against Arsenal today? Obviously, Rodgers doesn't think he's that important. You don't see Ozil, Cazorla et al on the bench for today's game, do you? Why? Because they're important to Arsenal's team.
Toure and Skrtel the other way round I think.
ReplyDeleteIf your suggesting Allen was a real impact in that score line check who scored and assisted
ReplyDeleteYou can keep saying it, but it doesn't make it true. Suarez's 4 goals/assists in the game are the main reason LFC won, and he would've scored/assisted irrespective of Allen or Henderson, just as he has all season (along with Sturridge)
ReplyDeleteIt's not a literal representation of the line-up, just a rough indication of positions (i.e. Skrtel/toure in central defence)
ReplyDeleteAllen has just come back from injury. Maybe that is why he is not in the team. How should i know the reason for his exclusion?
ReplyDeleteAre you going to criticise Rodgers for selecting this team if we do not win?
Then we are weaker in both mid and def, I am not saying we wont win, but we are already the underdogs and don't we don't usually get any input from our bench if our 11 are having a bad day, unlike Arsenal.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I would have wanted to see us win the match with Gerrard and Lucas in the same team.
ReplyDeleteHenderson and Allen forced Spurs into making countless errors which lead to our attack throttling the Spurs defence.
ReplyDeleteDo you want to argue with that?
Oh, please - that's just an excuse. Coutinho/Sturridge/Gerrard have all been injured this season, and as soon as they were fit, they went immediately into the team. Allen stays on the bench. There's a reason for that.
ReplyDeleteWhy would I criticise Rodgers' selection? I didn't last week when it was only a draw, and other times when the team drew/lost. I want this selection, so why would I criticise it?
I most certainly will not be criticising Rodgers for not starting Allen after the game, that's for sure.
The team selected is the right team, and is good enough to win. That might not happen, but it's still a good enough team.
i guess tonite we playing 442 instead 433 which coutinho will more covering at LM
ReplyDeleteI'd be cautious playing someone who's just returned from injury from the get go in a game that is assumed to be high intensity.
ReplyDeleteSo closer to fact than excuse IMO
Of course everything I say is a excuse :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do want to argue with that. It's a generalised statement. *None* of LFC's goals came from Hendo/Allen forcing mistakes:
ReplyDelete* Goal 1: Sterling and Suarez combine. Hendo involved also in the final third.
* Goal 2: Suarez and Henderson combine again in the Spurs box.
Goal 3: Coutinho, Hendo, Suarez combine again in the final third to set-up Flanagan
Goals 4 and 5: Alberto, Sterling and Suarez in Spurs' final third.
Additionally, Paulinho got sent off in the second half, which made it easier for LFC to control midfield. It wasn't down to Allen's genius, as you seem to suggest.
Right. So that's why Coutinho, Gerrard, Sturridge etc immediately returned to the starting line-up after injury? What about the risk to them, especially Sturridge, who is injury prone. All PL games are high intensity, not just against the top teams.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to Allen, yes. As I argued last week, you engage in intellectual dishonesty. You take a position on Allen (and Rodgers) only because (IMO) you're set on it and want to save face, not because you truly believe it.
ReplyDeleteNo it is because I rate Allen highly and have every right to do so.
ReplyDeletePeople had the right to rate Sean Dundee highly, too; doesn't mean they were right.
ReplyDeleteYou can rate Allen as highly as you like. It doesn't change the irrefutable fact that he makes zero consistent impact on LFC.
"Intellectual dishonesty"
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I would be banned or warned for sniping if I had to reply with a comment like that to one of your posts
BS
ReplyDeleteOur defence fuck*d if we are going with 4-4-2.
ReplyDeleteUtter nonsense, and please don't make stuff up. Why would anyone be banned for using the phrase 'intellectual dishonesty'. What you will get banned for is negatively (and deliberately) misrepresenting the approach of this site, so please stop that.
ReplyDeleteFair enough, bit pedantic of me anyway.
ReplyDeleteHope Flanagan and Cissokho can cope today. That is a very strong Arsenal team isn't it. On the plus side Ox, Wilshere, Sagna -- and Arteta? not sure -- have had spells out injured and might not be back to full effectiveness yet. And Ozil can disappear away from home. So though they are intimidating opposition, they might not be as strong as they appear on paper.
Where do you see the game being won and lost Jaimie? On the attacking side, for me it's Coutinho and Sterling. Their interplay is crucial. When they play close together especially it's devastating. I'm thinking of the second goal v Everton especially. Suarez and Coutinho came across to the right, PC received a short pass from Sterling who sprinted forward. The Everton midfield were sucked in and the defenders had gone narrow with no-one to mark. Sturridge went from really deep and Coutinho found him with that lovely pass. That tactic could slay Arsenal too because of their high line and the way Wilshere and Arteta can be tempted out of position. Simple stuff really if you have pace and discipline.
The big worry for me is Flanagan and Cissokho being overrun. If they get narrow, rather than trying to duel Arsenal's wide attackers, that leaves us exposed to crosses obviously. If they stay out wide to defend the ball, as I'd prefer, do they have the defensive quality to cope 1-1 or 1-2? It's going to be a real test of Flanagan's positioning in particular. Like most young fullbacks, that's his main weakness. I can picture him being just toyed with by Ox and Ozil on that side. Anyway it promises to be a classic match I think.
Your are Intellectually dishonesty too.
ReplyDeleteI genuinely believe the things I say; I don't persist with blatantly illogical opinions just to save face. People may not agree with my views, but there is always a sound, logical, empirical basis for what I argue. With the Allen thing, there is no evidence whatsoever to back your repeated assertions that he's some kind of superstar. Despite that, you continue to argue that he's vitally important to LFC. That is intellectual dishonesty in a nutshell.
ReplyDeletef*** I'm nervous.
ReplyDeleteBS
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this match. Cannot wait for kick off!
ReplyDeleteArsenal don't have pace up front and they are not particularly strong at set pieces. Those are our two main defensive weaknesses. Midfield seems pretty even to me, with some nice contrasts. Sterling v Ox; Coutinho v Cazorla; Gerrard v Arteta; Henderson v Wilshere. There's not a huge gulf in quality there. Only Wilshere has unique qualities. If you take Ozil and Giroud as their front 2, and ours as Sturridge and Suarez, well, I think we've got more firepower. They're not on another planet to us, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteThese guys must love the taste of pie. Your day will come Logan!
ReplyDeleteGreat points. I think you have it spot on. Flanagan's positional indiscipline showed up in the last game, and caused problems.
ReplyDeleteI think the team has to start in the same manner as it did against Everton: constantly hassling/pressing, and never allowing Arsenal time to settle. Whoever plays with the most intensity will probably win.
We can definitely beat them, but they destroyed us in midfield last time winning by 2 (with BR playing 352 against them which was stupid). I definitely see them getting a goal, and I am seeing us not getting more that 2, they have such a solid CB pair. That means if we are to win we will win 2:1, but last time arsenal scored less than two goals was 8 games ago, that scares me. They are top of the table for a reason.
ReplyDeleteYeah. All that said, it'll probably turn out a cagy, tepid non-event that finishes 1-1 with both goals coming from corners :)
ReplyDeleteLet's get the 3 points. Come on Pool!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with this assessment. I see quite a bit of Arsenal including a couple of games a season live; I'm not under any illusions!
ReplyDeleteAhahaha!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
ReplyDeleteWell done Skrtel!
ReplyDeletegerrards set-piece delivery is superb!
ReplyDeleteGood thing I didn't take that bathroom break, I would have missed it. Yeee skrtle
ReplyDeleteYeah the beers are flowing at the moment
ReplyDeleteThat chance for Monreal shows up the problem we have with Flanagan. He starts in a poor position, neither one thing nor the other. Makes a poor decision to step up and then he's struggling as Monreal flows past him.
ReplyDeleteMignolet CATCH the f.....ng ball !
ReplyDeleteArsenal do not know what has hit them. Ha ha
ReplyDeleteSkrtel in murderous mood
ReplyDeleteMore like who gives a sh*t. We are leading 2-0
ReplyDeleteSkrtel! What a resurrection this season. Tied with Suarez for player of the season IMO.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteSaw that coming as soon as it hit his head, on a sader note I spilled my beer celebrating.
ReplyDeleteWonder if Arsenal will collapse like they did against City?
ReplyDeleteIf Suarez does not get player of the year then it would be a farce.
ReplyDeleteNow we should win .Anything less than 3 pts is unacceptable
ReplyDeleteThey already have.
ReplyDeleteLook at their midfielders they are totally irrelevant to the game. It's brilliant tactics from us.
ReplyDeleteShld be 4 !
ReplyDeleteYeah we could be five up!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a bloodbath
ReplyDeleteTop 4 here we come.
ReplyDeleteI've seen enough comebacks from Arsenal that I'm not going to be comfortable until we have four...
ReplyDeleteCan't see us losing this one.
ReplyDelete3 f*cking 0
I don't get it. How can LFC be 3-0 up without the genius of Joe Allen. I just don't understand it.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting to compare this to the second goal against Everton, really similar situation but a different goal. This stuff isn't fluke, or about individual excellence, it's pure coaching. I'm in awe.
ReplyDeleteThey can t live with us ...... Raheem deserves it
ReplyDeleteIs this real? Am I dreaming?!
ReplyDeleteTOP on this form !
ReplyDeleteWow!! Arsenal fans at Anfield. You are in for a red treat
ReplyDeleteBias will not get you anywhere.
ReplyDeleteF*ck Yeah!
ReplyDeleteHOLY MOLY.
ReplyDeleteF*****g hell. This is unbelievable. Astonishing stuff.
ReplyDeleteHaa Haa Haaa. What is that. Is it a dream!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you can't see that this is all being produced by Joe Allen's brilliant tactical sense, in taking up an incredible position on the bench, well, we're watching different games.
ReplyDelete4 up within 20 minutes!!?? What the hell is going on?!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk comfortable now.
ReplyDeleteWhere are all the Rodgers doubters now?
ReplyDeleteThis is Blood Bath!!
ReplyDeleteThis is unbelievable football. All my hairs are standing up on end.
ReplyDeleteWHERE'S ARSHAVIN WHEN YOU NEED HIM?
ReplyDeleteFootball has been solved. There is no point in anyone playing or watching this game any more. It's over.
ReplyDeleteGo home Arsenal. You're drunk.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that was a memorable game though. Wenger wishes he could disappear into one of those large coats of his.
ReplyDeleteOne word... galvanised ; )
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here watching with my Arsenal supporting mate...absolutely fu**ing lovely!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, what do you do when you are 4 goals down only after 20 minutes? Now I feel bad for them, but I still want 2 for suarez and a skrtlw hattrick.
ReplyDeleteShe's lovely but is rather annoyed at my animated celebrations! That's right love, you go and have a fag
ReplyDeleteRodgers is not a one trick pony that some make him out to be.
ReplyDeleteHumble f*cking pie.
@Eric said 6-0. I wouldn't put it past him now.
ReplyDeleteCoutinho's best game this season?
ReplyDeletePressing!!!
ReplyDeleteOmg...
ReplyDeleteWhere have you been?
ReplyDeletei must be dreaming! wake me up guys pls!
ReplyDeleteOmg...............
ReplyDeleteWhat a rousing 18.22 min welcome ..thrash them unbelievable
ReplyDeleteExactly what we did against Spurs. Press, press, press!
ReplyDeleteWe need to hold on till half time....no conceded goals please
ReplyDeleteSkrtel is oozing confidence.
ReplyDeleteLet's get skrtle that hattrick, have him switch positions with suarez, just for fun.
ReplyDeleteSomeone call Oxford and get them to update the dictionary definition of 'obliteration'.
ReplyDeleteTotal domination ...... Arse 1 shot on goal !
ReplyDeleteWe are running the show. Arsenal do not know WTF is going on.
ReplyDeleteWe really are like Klopp's Dortmund. Strengths and weaknesses. Look how tired some of the guys are now. This is demanding stuff and you can't play this way every week. But it's amazing to watch, just amazing.
ReplyDeletestop even talking about negatives!!!! just let us enjoy this!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry Nick!
ReplyDeleteSkrtel has been immense!
ReplyDeleteMOM inside the first 10 mins. But he's been terrific all game.
ReplyDeleteSuarez needs to score.
ReplyDeletebut oh my god his shot against the post was the best non-goal I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we need to pummel them. Still another 45 minutes...
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking, you know, "What was the last time I saw a Liverpool performance like this!" and then I remembered it was in point of fact only two weeks ago. So proud to be a red right now.
ReplyDeleteCity and Chelsea to still visit Andfield too. I want to see them keep a clean sheet with the way we have annihilated Arsenal so far.
ReplyDeleteJesus, I need another drink
ReplyDeleteaaah who's that new dark chappie at left back...
ReplyDeleteSAS Skrtel and sterling!- Oh days like this
ReplyDeleteall season
ReplyDeleteyeah..but Arsenal doesn't...
ReplyDeleteIt's such an exciting prospect. If we can be in range of Man City going into the last couple of weeks, especially if any of the other teams are in the semis of the CL, we're going to be favorites for the title...
ReplyDeleteI reckon Newcastle and / or Norwich might do us a favor today, too, by the way. This is a big weekend for us!
Van Morrison...
ReplyDeleteEric being negative again.......
ReplyDeleteWoke up late over here...turned on the game at the minutes...saw the score...watched Skrtel's second and yelled...now everybody is awake. Electrifying.
ReplyDeleteSkrtel, Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge, Stunning.
ReplyDeletespot on :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are making the team top of the table look like relegation candidates.
ReplyDeleteEnough said.
skrtel/suarez/sterling/sturridge/henderson. 'ssssh' to all the haters.
ReplyDeleteAttacking football and a clean sheet so far...priceless. Second half more of the same, but I think we can expect Arsenal to park the bus and work the counter-attack to try to snipe a goal or two to get back in the match.
ReplyDeleteWe can play this way every match if we put our minds to it.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than having a manager celebrating with the team. Rodgers bringing back the good times.
ReplyDeleteLawrenson and Molby know about as much as us...They should just join this site.
ReplyDeleteJust texted my manager who is a big Gunners fan. First one at 2-0 just said OMG. 2nd text at 4-0 was OMFG with 4 exclamation points. One for each goal. They'll be furious, the whole club. Couldn't care less. Throw the season away if you like, we'll come home strong.
ReplyDeleteRight now i'm drunk with love for my team, and beer.
ReplyDeletewhats going on here!!!!!!!!.... BR for president
ReplyDeleteBoth gerrard and sturridge came on as subs when the returned from injury. Not straight into the starting line up. I also think coutinho came off the bench from his injury but I'm not 100%.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah seems like caution to me.
I am sure he will go for it 2nd half, just hope he gets it. I hear the post is vibrating from that earlier suarez shot.
ReplyDeleteQuick use the edit button :-)
ReplyDeleteBR for pope.
ReplyDeletethe next Roberto carlos lol
ReplyDeleteMinds is one thing, legs is another! You can't play with this intensity every week, you have to keep something in reserve and play within yourselves against weaker opposition, sadly.
ReplyDeletePartly because you can't play like this unless players are playing together consistently -- you need so much understanding and discipline. So you are relying on a small pool of players, and they get tired and injured it you ask them to run like this every week.
Arsenal look like a team of lost little boys.
ReplyDeleteto arsenal's credit they've come out in the second stanza with a lot more spirit. they're the league leaders. they HAVE to.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Sterling you beauty!
ReplyDeleteI had a dream last night that we lost. I didn't get to see the match, and when I saw the result, I bloody screamed. The dream still came true though, because I'm still f**king screaming tonight.
ReplyDeleteI just came...
ReplyDeleteYou are crazy
ReplyDeleteXD
ReplyDeleteSterling has really stepped up to the plate. He fully deserves his place in the starting eleven.
ReplyDeleteSASAS
ReplyDeleteFire Drill at Anfield .... Arsense 's taxi outside ;-)
ReplyDeleteJamiiiieeeeeeeeee
ReplyDeleteCarragher
ReplyDeleteRight now lets see Alberto....Coutinho has gone missing again 2nd half
ReplyDeleteGood call. If we can't bring him on now, 5 goals to the good, then when can we?
ReplyDeletemust be the new signing everyone was screaming for
ReplyDeleteAnd/Or Aspas.
ReplyDeleteSakho for toure and I think we have figured out our staying 11.
ReplyDeleteI've underestimated Flanagan. He's a real prospect. Just needs to grow a beard and we'll have a legend in the making.
ReplyDeleteSpecial shout out for Flanagan. More and more impressive with every game.
ReplyDeleteWould be unbelievable if Luis doesn't score in this one
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Sakho to get back from injury.
ReplyDeleteIf Henderson were named Senderson, he would have put that chance in the net;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd possibly even Jose in the form he was in before the injury.
ReplyDeletecomon gerrard you didnt need to do that
ReplyDeleteAgain, no clean sheet.
ReplyDeleteSave him, it's the perfect time to give Aspas 20 mins.
ReplyDeleteI care not
ReplyDeletewe've got a second choice back four out and we look a real fighting unit. experience, youth, pace and Cissokho sticking up for Raheem against Wilshere. Maybe Aly is manning up too.
