Price Crash: LFC want Lionel Messi's cousin, who's available at a £30m discount.

Liverpool are reportedly considering a summer move for Roma striker Bojan Krkic, whos is currently on loan at Dutch giants Ajax.

Liverpool have been linked with Krkic several times over the last year, and according to The Mirror today:

* LFC scouts have watched him several times in the last few weeks, including during Ajax's Europa League defeat to Salzburg last week.

* The Reds believed they can sign Krkic for a paltry £5m, which would represent a £30m discount on his value, which has plummeted over the last three years.

After failing to hold down a regular place in Barcelona's first team, Krkic - who is a cousin of Lionel Messi - moved to Roma for in a €12m deal (which included a €28m buy-back clause)

However, after just one season, the Serie club loaned him out to AC Milan, who dumped him after one season. He then ended up on loan to Ajax, where he's chalked up just three goals in sixteen appearances.

Prior to his move to Amsterdam, Krkic's's father - who is also his Agent - suggested that a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.

"He [Krkic] could move to England. There are clubs there that are interested in my son. Which clubs? I can't talk about names just yet. We will see what happens."

When asked this week about his future, Krkic told reporters:

"We'll see about my future, there are still two months of the season to go before any decisions have to be made"

After signing Krkic on loan last summer, Ajax boss Frank De Boer raved:

"Bojan is a top player that we can really use. He is skilful, has good game insight and can score. We've added a very good player. I think he'll play right wing, but he can also be used as a left-winger or striker"

Krkic's versatility in attack will obviously appeal to Brendan Rodgers, but it seems like his career has hit the skids after leaving Barcelona. The Spaniard is on record many times stating how much he loves the Catalan club, and it seems like he finds it hard to motivate himself to perform at the highest level for any other club.

Could Brendan Rodgers get the best out of Krkic...?

  1. He reminds me of Freddy Adu.
So much hype and 'potential' but never lived up to it, and has just floated off in to mediocrity. I haven't seen him play in a long time so don't know what he is like now. Better than Borini? Probably, but would most likely cost more in wages, and I doubt he would be too happy playing second fiddle to SAS.

  2. Rather have someone who has already demonstrated he can score...I like this Ings kid.

  3. Very skillful, bit lightweight for the prem IMO.....Bit unsure about him being Messi's cousin as he is of Bosnian-Spanish decent and Messi is Argentinian? Anyway, he was supposed to be the next Messi but hasn't quite reached anywhere near that level. Who knows though, Rodgers has a thing for technically gifted players.

  4. Maybe everyone was confused and he's REALLY supposed to be the next Messi's cousin...Bimbo Messi...who is an accountant in Rivadavia...and not much of a striker at all;-)

  5. Nah, can't see him making it in England. Sterling is going to be 10 times the player at the age of 23 so IMO Bojan can stay where he is.

If we are going to sign another forward then I am hoping it is going to be Konoplyanka!

  6. I be happy if is true ! Since he playing reserve i spot on his talent and dream hopefully LFC can sign him. By the time he goes ROMA i felt is a waste to his career coz he wont shine there ! But now good news if we can get him ! I put a lot faith in this kid

  7. He was a pretty big deal about 5-6 years ago.

  8. I could see Rodgers going for this one. He has enough of an ego to think he could turn around Bojan and make him into the player he was always supposed to be!

£5mil still seems a bit expensive to me. Not really done anything for a few years. Doesn't look too quick (a while since I've watched him properly, so can't remember), not too strong. Not sure what he offers. Presumably he is a decent passer since he was the golden boy at La Masia but presumably not good enough to be a midfielder.

He was supposed to be great once upon a time, so there is always something exciting about these kind of deals, but I don't think this would be a particularly good idea.

  9. Silly season seems to be coming early this year. Just this last couple of days I've seen countless reports linking us to Firmino, Rakitic, Isco, Camacho, Zivkovic and a bunch of others whose names escape me now. Can't say I know a whole lot about Bojan, but he seems to be the kind of player that Rodgers might go for; bags of potential hitherto not quite realised; someone whom he can attempt to turn from zero to hero (re Coutinho). He's nimble, technically good and as you say, versatile - the kind of attributes BR digs. Not sure about him myself, and I don't really know enough about him to pass judgement, but he looks lightweight and I would suggest that the clubs cash would be more wisely invested elsewhere. We don't need any more players in the Aspas/Alberto mould.

  10. For 5 mil he might be worth a punt but not for any more. He's only ever looked good at barca and in the team he was playing in I reckon my missus could've bagged a few goals if she'd been playing in that forward line. Never know, could turn into another coutinho. Not gonna hold my breath tho. If you can't score regularly in holland, when ur playing for the best team, I don't hold much hope for him in the prem

  11. Might be nitpicking, might not be, but you say "by buying Melbourne City", in fact they haven't. There is no club called Melbourne City. Melbourne do not have one single football club, they have two. Manchester City have bought one of these football clubs, that is Melbourne Heart, the other club, Melbourne Victory has potentially set up a deal with Liverpool, although not much is known about the deal.

  12. hate to point this out but right after his new contract. maybe also contributing to his relaxed stats. But he has been offering some assists and great final balls.

  13. Not the only one though ;p

  14. Well spotted,he never ever switches off. When he drags his leg behind him,I think he's really plotting the next move.

  15. I agree.

It's a low-risk high-reward type of buy, similar to Coutinho.

If it doesn't work, it didn't break the bank.

If it does work, the team is better and you could potentially sell for a better player.

  16. Suarez and Fabio Borini were in the same Liverpool squad last year.

They are in the same sentence... Big Deal!

    ReplyDelete
  17. On a separate but Suarez-related note, how does Anelka get 5 games when they have him on camera. Terry gets 4 games (had him on camera). Suarez gets 8 (not on camera).

How on earth does this make any sense? Suarez gets the longest suspension and is the only one NOT on camera who was accused of anything.

  18. I don't agree with vilifying Rooney. Was he not the first to point out that the current Utd squad wasn't up to it? Was the lack of ambition not evident in their failure to adequately update a squad coming to its best before date? As a Liverpool fan whose earliest memory is Michael Thomas scoring in the last minute at Anfield I've been telling Utd fans of the danger they were in for the last two years , all fell on deaf ears though.

  19. Anelka is the first person to fall foul of rules that weren't in place when Terry and Suarez got done.

They say Suarez got more games because he said the offending word multiple times.

Did Terry say black shit or black cunt? Can't seem to remember.
Anyhoo, it is laughable that one man is recorded saying something very dodgy and gets less games than someone using a gesture around which there is some ambiguity and less than a man who was using phrases around which there is even more ambiguity (with regards to intent).

I think they all deserved to be banned though, to be honest. Even if Suarez's version of events is true, it is still clumsy and insensitive (though if we are to believe Suarez, 8 games is too much).

  20. I don't see us challenging for the title. The defence is just too shaky. Of course with City and Chelsea to come to Anfield, we can, at the very least, have a big say. We are certainly in the title race- the mathematics dictates that. I don't think that is something we will maintain though.

As of now, 4th is ours to lose. The game against Spurs at Anfield will be huge. I just worry against some of the lesser sides. Tottenham are not a great side, but they can defend. They can win games 1-0. We can't. Everton are still in contention too. Again, they can defend.

I just want to go to sleep until the group stages next season, hopefully to find that we've finished in the top 4 and got through the qualifiers!

  21. I agree as far as prices are concerned but I'm glad you revolted against the thing that is the reason in a word sky. That does beg the question how do you watch the games? I think you will start to see the trend for more televised games as more money is pumped in I suspect it won't be long until Saturday games are on tv. Have you noticed however the money is always found somewhere sponsors tv naming rights affiliations tours rich owners there isn't one exploit more a team in where can we exploit next. I wish there was a cap on salary but they will just find another way to syphen the money.

  24. Ur saying rubbish. At least he is better than selfish sturridge who will never take anything for the team

  25. Involved with trying to reduce ticket price how? In what way??

    ReplyDelete
  26. Agreed... I had no problem with the bans.

I had more of an issue with the process and the inconsistency with the bans.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yep, the inconsistency and the way all 3 cases were handled by the FA mean the message of anti-racism hasn't been communicated as accurately as possible.

  29. Should start calling you Rip Van Winkle then ;)

  30. No
Massive potential, and massive Hype but he never reached anything near what anyone expected, Still young but still no
He was outplayed by Borini at Roma so why would we want him?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd be more worried if no one was scoring, it's a team game and at this moment Luis has made a bit of a sacrifice with his position, been a little bit unlucky too with the woodwork denying him.

He was never going to keep up the record breaking form he was on.

Currently being recharged for the run in, when do we play Norwich (??) he'd score against them with a blindfold on (lol)

  32. They may have 3 class players, but 2 of those 3 are petulant, being Rooney and RvP, RvP also being a lazy player who will now want the same wage structure or he's off, he's already threatened to leave all season. The only one of three I would like to see at Liverpool is Mata, who was one of the top 3 players at Chelsea at the time he was sold.

  33. Another one in the win column for Verm!

  34. No No No No No No NO. No more 5 million pound squad signings! We have our own youngsters. Big money on signings on players who are worth the cash (so not Shaw)

    ReplyDelete
  35. At 5M it has to be worth investigating further. Take a chance on him, he could turn out to be an amazing bargain but if not we will recoup most if not all the money spent to sign him. Seems to be a no brainer to add depth to our thin squad for next year, especially now it looks like we will be in the CL.

  36. Who would you suggest we buy with our limited budget?

  40. Nah, I'm more Rob Van Winkle.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Don't get me wrong, I think 300k, especially for a player who is inconsistent and is a petulant so and so, is way too much. However if he could potentially make that through bonuses, then so be it. The bonus structure is in my opinion a great idea as it means players can potentially be big earners by performing well (which ties in with my salesman example with a base wage and bonuses for reaching sales targets) and as there is a base wage, it means if the player was to be sold off, he could be because he doesn't have a huge wage that other clubs wouldn't want to pay. This type of wage structure is another example of the good work FSG are doing for our club, despite what the naysayers say.

  42. Actually the front 3 of suarez sturridge and sterling have changed pretty much every game. Sturridge played wide against bournemouth everton and swansea and still scored 5 goals. Even when suarez is wide he has freedom to drift centrally and has a huge impact on the game
