Transfer Miracle? - LFC launch deadline-day bid for 'dangerous' £27m star. *Updated*

Liverpool are reportedly trying to broker a deal to bring Spanish maestro Juan Mata to Anfield.

Earlier this afternoon, Mirror journalist Martin Lipton posted the following update about Mata, who Rafa Benitez recently described as a 'very clever' and 'dangerous' player:

"Chelsea say that Liverpool have [today] expressed an interest in Juan Mata, but no bid received so far.

"There could be some movement to come, though. Not sure, however, CFC would let him go on loan (as they did with Moses)"

Lipton states that Chelsea 'say' that LFC have expressed interest, which implies he's heard this from the horse's mouth. Of course, he could be lying, but Lipton is a decent Journo, so I doubt it.

Obviously, Mata - who cost Chelsea £27m - would be an absolute dream transfer, and the very definition of a 'marquee signing', but I can't see this happening.

When asked about Mata's future last week, Jose Mourinho angrily dismissed the notion that the Spaniard is available, and accused the press of lying about the story. He told reporters:

"The stories that are coming out are nonsense stories. He [Mata] is very important for me and very important for Chelsea. There's no chance. Juan goes nowhere."

You never know though. The signing of Willian will curtail Mata's first team chances, and he needs regular first team football to ensure his place in Spain's world cup squad.

Stranger things have happened...

UPDATE: 3:12pm - Radio Marca claims that Chelsea have allegedly rejected a £25m bid from Liverpool for Mata.

UPDATE 2: 3:22pm - Odds on LFC signing Mata slashed.

UPDATE 3: 3:35pm - Mirror journalist David Maddock update on Mata:

"Sources close to the Anfield club's American owners say they are prepared to pay £30m for the Spanish winger, rather than pursue a loan deal".

UPDATE 4: 3:40pm - French newspaper L'Equipe claims that Paris St. Germain are 'currently negotiating' with Chelsea to sign Mata.

UPDATE 5: 4:50pm - French television station 'Infosport Plus' claims that that Mata is holding talks with PSG.

  2. plus, I highly doubt Lipton is lying. He's a Chelsea fan, and very well sourced at the club.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hopefully we bring in another attacking player, would be brilliant'!

    ReplyDelete
  4. according to reports we have made a bid of 25million(if you believe these kind of things, and chelsea value mata at nearly 40million(according to reports )if we have made a bid we are a long way of each others valuation, according to reports

    ReplyDelete
  5. JC where you been hiding? lol... You know if we get him in you'll have to eat a massive slice of humble pie!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ozil going for £42m won't help either. Given our great start to the season, i don't think Chelsea will want to do us anymore favours. He would be a great signing but we have no chance ;-(

    ReplyDelete
  7. Jason we have spent cash .... You said we wouldnt and still look like we could add one more player, be it mata who knows doubtful but meh I think that Yalmalenko guy rumour was killed a little quick

    ReplyDelete
  8. i hope the ozil transfer clapses as madrid may come in for suarez

    ReplyDelete
  9. but i cant see us selling suarez unless we could get mata although again we would be left short up top with only aspas and sturridge.

Let this be true and if BR and FSG can pull this off then no one including me can say that we never had the right players, for me this guy is one of the best midfielders in the game. Good luck and may the footballing gods smile upon BR and FSG to make this happen.

  11. suarez,sturridge,coutinho mata
    bench aspas,moses/sterling
    awesome

  12. we have spent cash about 23/25 million net if we had not spent that much minimum how many lfc fans do you think would have been happy,i would say for a club our sieze with such a week squad we should have got that amount at least, and yes we may get some more players in we may alsp lose some as well

Jaimie, is this confirmed? I mean the actual bid or are we talking about twitter rumours here?

JK stay on this one for us please mate.

    ReplyDelete
  15. not much chance of that sadly, but i'm hoping the start we have is seen by FSG as something we can build on not derail by selling our best player - I'll be biting my nails until 11pm - better than biting someone's arm at least :-)

  16. Liverpool already ruled out any chance to anyone about suarez.even zey come wiz bale for an exchange.thank you very much we are happy wiz suarez.if we could make a deal for any other attacking midfielder that would b lovely even its nt mata.come on BR i know u will surprise us last minute.

  17. Mirror journalist Martin Lipton (a Chelsea fan) claims he's been told by CFC that LFC have enquired about Mata. The £25m bid story is from Spanish newspaper Marca.

    ReplyDelete
  18. it won't happen for sure. We will only make one bid (25m) and that's it. That's been our method hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  19. we have to keep suarez ,otherwise we could be screwed if sturridge gets injured

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, just keep moaning for no apparent reason.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I read we made an approach Friday, but were turned down. Also Mata needs CL exposure in a World Cup year, but would be great if it happened. If not, I presume we could go for an alternative. Rogers has been absent from his offices all morning, wonder if there is something on the horizon.

    ReplyDelete
  22. if they offload ozil to arsenal and sell a few fringe players they could well come in

    ReplyDelete
  23. my last post wasn't clear - i'm sure they will. hopefully we tell them to do one!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mata was 1 of Liverpool target b4 going to Chelsea....to have him is to have wings on 1 side... :) YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  25. i think we've done fairly well out of this window, but the one type of player most wanted was a pacey, wide playing goal contributer - the much fabled 'Marquee sigining'. maybe moses will fill that void and Sterling is also looking really good to me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. what are you on about,we are liverpool football club ,not some johny come lately ,what if we had not signed the players today would you have been happy, and why is it moaning ,chris asked a ? i answered it,i cannot help it if i am a greedy bastqrd i want it all,dam right i do,look at the bench yesterday it was not awe inspiring (no offence to the players)we need a little bit more upfront, most fans would agree on that, and jaimie read your comments policy stop sniping and attack the article not the poster

    ReplyDelete
  27. agree mate lets hope so i doubt very much he will leave otherwise surely we would not have loaned out borini

    ReplyDelete
  28. If other manager i think would let him go but for jose not a chances....look at willian case, i dunno jose really interested on that guy or not or just wan to sabotage LFC n Spurs

    ReplyDelete
  29. As much as I want Mata at Anfield as I just can't see it happening.

    ReplyDelete
  30. That's a good point. After torres left us late on i can't take anything for granted...
    Fingernails update: All gone.

    ReplyDelete
  31. if we get him or anyone like him i will glady eat the whole pie nevermind a slice

    ReplyDelete
  32. You'll share a slice with me surely...? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. No matter how much money FSG spend, you will always find some way to moan about them, and you're proving it again today.

    ReplyDelete
  34. fingernails ,i am down to the knuckles after yesterday

    ReplyDelete
  35. no i will gladly eat it all myself ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. apparently, PSG are also sniffing around...

    ReplyDelete
  37. arsenal sniffing around too. i really should go to bed...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Better start making some space, the odds have been slashed on us getting him. I think Brendan is going to be using the funds set aside for Willian/HM lol

    ReplyDelete
  39. Liverpool Echo say just now, we bid £30m for Mata.

    ReplyDelete
  40. YOU ONLY GET JUAN SHOT

    ReplyDelete
  41. Would love him at Anfield. Can't believe Chelsea are getting rid of him. Madness in my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. mourinho is a shifty bugger, he knows what he's doing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. when ?it is my opinion do you really think 20 million is to much to ask,we have lost one defender we have signed an entire backfour ,we have got rid of more attackers downing ,susso ,borini and brung two in ,you said yourself we needed more options upfront ,its not been addressed

    ReplyDelete
  44. Totally agree. 11 goals/28 assists last season? What manager wouldn't want Mata? It's ridiculous, especially given he was Chelsea's player of the season 2 years running.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ben Smith, BBC SportJUAN MATA LATEST

"Liverpool are not, despite the rumours, in for Juan Mata."

L'Equipe is reporting on their website that Paris St-Germain are hoping to open talks with the 25-year-old Chelsea midfielder.

    ReplyDelete
  46. i am sure playing for liverpool will give him enough exposure

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't see Chelsea letting Juan Mata join Liverpool. Especially not after the loan of Victor Moses to Liverpool. Juan Mata is the type of string puller LIverpool could certainly benefit from. He is a compliment to any team. Every player has a price, and unfortunately Liverpool will not meet that price that will convince Chelsea to let him join us.

I think it is safe to say that Liverpool's pursuit is a waste of time really. Liverpool doesn't spend crazy money on a player. The player is supposedly worth 27 million but it might take more than 30 million to bring the Spaniard over. I don't think that Liverpool are comfortable spending that much on just one player. It hasn't been the Liverpool way for a long time. Saving money has been the focus. Finding bargains in the market is what the club is all about. Sadly i think this one is dead in the water

    ReplyDelete
  48. pacheco has left liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  49. FSG have backed up in EVERY window, cut the FSG vendetta.

    ReplyDelete
  50. MAKE IT HAPPEN FSG

    ReplyDelete
  51. if we can spend 18 million on a centerback 30 million on a proven attacking player is not out of the question

    ReplyDelete
  52. yh its on his twitter to segunda division alcorcon imo could not make the step up had bag loads of potential but when put in the senior team couldn make it sry pacheco best of luck with your new club

    ReplyDelete
  53. i wondered when good cop would turn up

    ReplyDelete
  54. gotta have faith

    ReplyDelete
  55. hate deadline day haven't gotten any work done for the day

    ReplyDelete
  56. Had to put you straight, also in transfers deals it's not all about the player cost, it also the agent fees, last year we spent nearly 10 million alone on that. Only behind city.

    ReplyDelete
  57. i doubt we will get mata ,but we can live in hope ,why not put a cheeky bid in for torres if we cannot

    ReplyDelete
  58. my comical wit is wasted on you;-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Shame. When are you going to admit you was wrong? What did you say? "FSG won't bring anyone in" "FSG don't want to spend money" both times you've been proven wrong, has to come to a point where you put the hate towards them down :-)

    ReplyDelete
  60. What have you been smoking? Torres? lol

    ReplyDelete
  61. a well deserved one too if i may add ;) ,nice to see you back here m8

    ReplyDelete
  62. This would be outrageous if FSG pull this off!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. it will be deserved if we sign someone like mata yes ,at the moment no,not imo we have made some decent signings, but at the start of the window we all knew we needed money spending ,and we have spent money ,but i would not call it a fantastic amount ,i am not saying its peanuts either ,i would call it average

    ReplyDelete
  64. now don't get me excited .(drooling) £ 30-35 m more like it and worth every £

    ReplyDelete
  65. either way u still get ur pie :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Just bid what Chelsea wants please

    Sturridge

    Coutinho Suarez Mata

    Well one can dream

    ReplyDelete
  67. Pacheco out......Mata in! I'd buy that for a dollar.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Mou has a habit of doing it to players it seems

    ReplyDelete
  69. we are still in the forbs top ten richest clubs in the world ,i expect us to be spending 20 million

    ReplyDelete
  70. Apparently they want £40 million....with PSG in the hunt too they might get near it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. That isn't the point, I'm saying FSG could easily keep the money we receive from sales an not give us anything. But they are NOT. They always give us money to Improve our team. Just give them credit for once.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Apparently we already bid around 25 mil and was denied, but FSG claimed to pay upwards 35 mil to get him. Has anyone heard about Yarmolenko? Milan was said to be rivals to get him, but I don't think they have bid yet.

    ReplyDelete
  73. So lets outbid PSG or drive it as high as f***ing possible

    ReplyDelete
  74. Don't get your hopes up lads.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Mozex DJlondon Eboye4:24 pm, September 02, 2013

If LFC can pull this I bet champion league spot will be very guarantee

    ReplyDelete
  76. Due to BPL rules each club is allowed only 2 loans in per season and they can't be from the same club so if were going Mata it has to permanent

    ReplyDelete
  77. what about the money the club earns ,its not all comming out of there pockets and if we did not sign any players we would be even further behind ,sorry no i do not give people credit for doing what they are supposed to do,if they sign matter and keep suarez a will gladly give them credit ,but not for running it like a buissness

    ReplyDelete
  78. Outbid PSG?.... that really shows how last day fever is hitting us all hard! :-)
I'm not even convinced we are in for him, or Yarmolenko...it would mean FSG have suddenly decided to throw another £20-30million in on top of the £20million they said they would be investing before the window. Just can't see it....delighted to be wrong though.

    ReplyDelete
  79. you learn something new everyday:-)

    ReplyDelete
  80. I wouldn't mind if we don't get him but he is being wasted at Chelsea

    ReplyDelete
  81. Its four loans actually, but I'm not sure how many you can have from any one club though.

    ReplyDelete
  82. In that case lets loan him from PSG ;)

    ReplyDelete
  83. ...two things...it's had a name change from EPL too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  84. we need another striker ,hes supposed to be available ,he would be in budget hes proven ,any better ideas

    ReplyDelete
  85. Figures have shown each year that FSG have injected money into the club, so the money coming in isn't enough, if it was then FSG wouldn't of put loans into liverpool. And every football club is a business?

    ReplyDelete
  86. ...let's go six...it's transfer deadline day after all, everything gets inflated! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Better Ideas, yeah....NOT TORRES! lol I'd rather Benzema.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Can't believe Chelsea are letting him go, mad. But if you aren't a manager's cup of tea, what can you do. Still crazy.

Brilliant signing, if Arsenal get Ozil. Best creator in Europe last season.

    ReplyDelete
  89. PSG are in for Mata so that bubble was nice while it lasted

    ReplyDelete
  90. Right. As per rules, can't loan 2 players from same PL club. I would buy Mata for 30mn any day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. they have been in for mata as long as we have...we have a chance, since mata probably wouldnt want to go to france anyway...its not very competitive.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I don't think this is true, pity though becasue signing a player like Mata would make us title contenders, just make it happen FSG, this one player is how close we are.

    ReplyDelete
  93. On a side note, Ozil is off to arsenal officially

    ReplyDelete
  94. I thought 18 goals

    ReplyDelete
  95. Apparently we already bid around 25 mil and was denied, but FSG claimed to pay upwards 35 mil to get him. Has anyone heard about Yarmolenko? Milan was said to be rivals to get him, but I don't think they have bid yet.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Playing for Chelsea did not do that, I think he was left outa Spains last squad.

    ReplyDelete
  97. thats the beauty of jaimies site, its not just entertainment its an education

    ReplyDelete
  98. 30 million bid!!!!!! http://hereisthecity.com/2013/09/02/jl-who-has-made-a-30-million-for-chelseas-juan-mata/

    ReplyDelete
  99. lets face it mate they are politics in football as well

    ReplyDelete
  100. 30 million bid made from possibly LFC (reported from spain as us, but those spanish reporters can be bonkers at times, no offense of course)

    ReplyDelete
  101. http://hereisthecity.com/2013/09/02/jl-who-has-made-a-30-million-for-chelseas-juan-mata/

    ReplyDelete
  102. Reported from spain, LFC 30 mil bid!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. If rumours are true, AC did bid, we bid higher, they re-signed Kaka today also, might slow them down.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Absolutely loved reading all the banter. Great win yesterday and now I hope for a great en to this Transfer Window. Welcome Mata! YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  105. Barclays Premier League

    ReplyDelete
  106. I thought it was British Premier League because of the addition of the two Welsh sides.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I am very sure, not gonna happen.

    ReplyDelete
  108. As things have returned to normalcy between Suarez and Liverpool, Real Madrid have emerged as the latest name to prise the striker away from the Kop End. Reports linked Madrid with a deadline day move for the Uruguayan but the La Liga giants have not made contact with the Merseyside club and Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has toldSky Sports News Radio, “The last contact between the two clubs was two weeks ago and as I understand it, Liverpool told Real we’re not selling him, do not ring back!”

    ReplyDelete
  109. Mata is in Paris, Arsenal are looking to open talks for Pastore

    ReplyDelete
  110. But we can all dream until the window closes though

    ReplyDelete
  111. Barclays have the sponsorship rights

    ReplyDelete
  112. If we sign him and keep Suarez i will be heading to the bookies and backing us to end 24 years of misery!

    ReplyDelete
  113. yes just read that myself,6hours left

    ReplyDelete
  114. Do you really think Mata will be joining us today even if we do make a bid. PSG, Arsenal and Manure are all reportedly interested with CL football to offer. I know it's transfer deadline day but Jesus really??? I don't think so. I've got a feeling one more will join today just hope it ain't Given. According to skysports BR is back at Melwood, something could be going down!!

    ReplyDelete
  115. IMO at Chelsea he has unproven himself

    ReplyDelete
  116. After update 5 my bubble is slowly popping

    ReplyDelete
  117. he would still be a good signing with limited funds

    ReplyDelete
  118. Chelsea won't sell to United because of their stance on Rooney, Arsenal won't spend anymore money and Wenger has probably already had one coronary today. We only have to worry about PSG and hopefully Mata wants to sty in England, lets be honest French football is shite why would he want to go to a such a pathetic league.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Brilliant...I just spat my tea when I read that and now I'm nearly passing water at it...for some weird reason my brain was working on British ....it must be transfer deadline day dizziness... cheers for making my day and pointing that out...it's really quite tickled me! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  120. 1629:
    MATA OF FACT?
France football writer Matt Spiro: "The French television station Infosport Plus is confirming that Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata is presently holding talks with PSG.
"Signing the Spaniard would, in my eyes, make perfect sense for Laurent Blanc's team. The French champions may be getting consistent results in Ligue 1, yet they continue to appear disjointed with no obvious link between midfield and attack.
"Their current playmaker Javier Pastore has been operating as part of a midfield three of late, with Ibrahimovic, Cavani and Lavezzi in attack, but the Argentinian - who certainly hasn't set the capital alight following his £35m move from Palermo in 2011 - is struggling badly this season and has been jeered at the Parc des Princes in the last two home games.
"Mata's ability to supply PSG's big-name forwards could be just what Blanc needs."
    BOLLOCKS.... :-(

    ReplyDelete
  121. Good point about United but if Wenger wants Mata he will have the money available and £30 million for Chelsea's 2 times players of the season i think he might consider. Strong reports he is in Paris now so not looking good mate plus i wouldn't say pathetic league but imo it is much weaker than our league (even Joe Cole did well) and he might think at least i'll score and create goals which will help him get in the Spain squad. I'll keep my fingers crossed tho :-)

    ReplyDelete
  122. I think he's definitely not in Jose's plans... he hasn't looked the same player since Jose came in... I'd love to get him at LFC.... and we should put up the money if we have it and buy him outright... he'll be looking for a move after being left out of the Spanish squad to... But whether we get him is another matter

    YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  123. He needs to be playing CL football if he is to cement his place in Spain's World Cup squad. That rules us out :(

    ReplyDelete
  124. If we signed Mata it would take our net spending to 50m or so this window, I just can't see FSG doing that.

    ReplyDelete
  125. That update from the skysports reporter at Liverpool probably says our business is done. Hope not! We need another Midfielder and an Attacker. Probably have to wait for January though.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Why not go for Adam Johnson? He used to be great at city and might just pull a Sturridge or Coutinho if you ask me. Or agree Mata loan if it is a possibility. Any quality playmaker, RM will be a significant push for this season.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Suarez said he is staying today, and that the matter is closed - he is happy to be staying. So there's one piece of the puzzle.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Chelsea have just said they have heard nothing of PSG's reported interest in Juan Mata and barring 'silly money', Mata looks will be staying at Stamford Bridge

    ReplyDelete
  129. well i will still be having my indian ,just in case;-)

    ReplyDelete
  130. Adam Johnson, really? Might as well buy Downing back.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Between update 4 and 5 Ben Smith said NO! - just saying

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeah maybe... though I think the club is a big enough draw to attract attention regardless of CL, especially if we perform... I don't think a player playing at our club would be ignored if they were playing

Still a pipe dream mind... they said on talksport that we tried to take him on loan and were told where to go!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Didn't FSG state there isn't a set budget,if the right player becomes available they would persue it and makes funds available
Mata would be a dream to the 1st team £30 m would be worth it
If we are challenging in the prem national coaches will watch him ,it's the most followed league in the world surely !!!

    ReplyDelete
  134. You might have said this about, for example, Benteke, if we tried to sign him in Jan, in compared to Sturridge [while of course Benteke might be a better striker but Sturridge turned to be a surprisingly good singing]. He and downing are far away in quality terms. I can understand you making this resemblance.
You might have just didn't watch the guy enough to see his quality, or don't have the eye to spot these kind of signings.

Anyway comparing him to Downing is an ignorant opinion regarding the game of football.
Think whatever you please though. . .

    ReplyDelete
  135. So, in your opinion clubs/scouts/managers who didn't sign Adam when he wanted to leave city just didn't watch the guy enough? they didn't have eye to spot these kind of signings? have ignorant opinion regarding the game?

What has he done in Sunderland that impresses you? Sessegnon (I don't know how to spell) was better than him for Sunderland.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Lol Adam Johnson..my goodness what a kenny/comolli signing. We are over that so called British talent/garbage. He is struggling in Sunderland for god sakes.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I don't understand the Borini loan, if it happens. I don't rate him currently, but after Sturridge and Suarez who is the back up?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Aspas would be my guess.

    ReplyDelete
  139. or Moses or Morgan

    ReplyDelete
  140. Moses will probably play on the wings to free up Coutinho for CAM.

Mata isn't going anywhere, neither FSG(LFC) nor PSG. Ukranian winger rumors coming back up.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ha, kaha se ho?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Mai UK se :P pata chal gaya hoga :D

    Aap kahan se ho?

    ReplyDelete
  143. That fills you with confidence if that's the case. Lol. Young Yesil, how's he getting on?

    ReplyDelete
  144. looks like takaway for me tonight

    ReplyDelete
  145. Mumbai se, UK main 18 months rahe the masters ke liye.

    ReplyDelete
  146. nice to see my comments getting censored ,you really are god

    ReplyDelete
  147. Arrey sahi hai. Mai abhi college kar raha hu and UK as in uttrakhand haha XD :P

Mai Mumbai shift ho raha hu next year, currently Vizag meh hu college ke liye. Mumbai meh exactly kahan?

    ReplyDelete
  148. Central Mumbai, Bhandup. Nice to know there are more than few Liverpool fans in India.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yes, I saw your name and always wondered if you were from India or were an NRI looking at your post about being at Liverpool. I am wondering if there is any official or even unofficial fan group in Mumbai that I could join. By any chance do you know any or a part of them?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Not a chance , BR will try and develop a " new Mata" in Suso (started well for Almeria) or Alberto .. both have showed they have the talent , we just need to develop them properly ! Nothing worse than seeing top young talents not achieving there potential and sold for peanuts. (pacheco another on list). Stop falling into this deadline trap , you just going to end up disappointed when we should be proud of our business, Our transfers are done , We have addressed all areas (maybe not cdm )which We can maybe expect in Jan with another attacker. More than satisfied and cant wait to focus on the current squad and tactics ! Here's to minimum of Top 3 until Jan !

    ReplyDelete
  151. Yes, Unofficial but can be official very soon. They have this place as well where they watch Liverpool matches. Search Liverpool - Mumbai on Facebook. Also, there are similar groups for Delhi, Kolkata and maybe Bangalore.

We have a decent fan base in India but nothing compared to other United, Chelsea, Barca, Madrid, Arsenal. This is mostly due to the game becoming popular in last few years and we have been in decline during the same period. I would like to see Liverpool capturing Indian markets due to sheer number of the population and potential for the game. Second most popular after Cricket (although a massive gap yet).

Liverpool are doing things behind the scene though, with massive social presence in FB India, Twitter India, et al. Also opened Liverpool academy (although costly) and planning to open pubs similar to Man Utd cafe. Hope we try to match it on field as well. YNWA

  152. Alberto is slow IMO

    ReplyDelete
  153. By any chance do you know of fan groups in Mumbai who work officially or even unofficially?

No need to panic Reds, Suarez isn't going to make any moves(reports).

    ReplyDelete
  154. Suarez is definitely staying and Chelsea have said they have spurned spurs and arsenal bids but accepted terms with another club. He wants cl football, but it sounds like it's us doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  155. search Liverpool Mumbai on facebook. Unofficial but can be official very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Are you a part of it? What's the process to get in it? I hope am not bugging you much.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Dozens of clubs have asked for Mata but Chelsea don't want him to go. Liverpool, PSG and Valencia amongst them

    ReplyDelete
  158. Not really :). Just like the page, and you will see all the posts. They have hangout place as well where they watch all these LFC fixtures together.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Unless I just dreamt this, Chelsea have accepted terms from a premier league club that isn't arsenal or spurs but he wants champions league - it's got to be us hasn't it??

    ReplyDelete
  160. Stan Collymore is 100% certain that LFC will do no more business today

    ReplyDelete
  161. I did dream it - it's demba ba. Apologies!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Haha, worse...you made me dream as well.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Sorry mate - was dealing with kids and thought sky were talking about mata when in fact it was ba :-(

    ReplyDelete
  164. I thought he said this in the morning

    ReplyDelete
  165. Yeah...ain't gonna happen

    ReplyDelete
  166. lol, I think we are done for the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  167. You dont need pace to be an CAM , as long as you have a great touch/ ball control coupled with intelligent movement , vision and technique .. which he seems to have ..His role is to try and unlock and free the men with pace .

    ReplyDelete
  168. My bad - it was ba not mata.... I'm going to clean my ears out

    ReplyDelete
  169. Hmm, Lucas was bought as CAM and faced similar problem regarding pace. He was forced to play as CDM although he did it quite successfully. Alberto will need pace as well since we have very fast wide players and a striker. So to support them and have that dynamic swapping movement, he will need adequate pace. He was bought after he scored quite a few goals and assists so am sure he will have to play in attack and I think most of the attacker in EPL have pace. I hope am wrong though.

  170. "We've certainly got more competition and as a manager you always want more, but we're more than happy with the business we've done. We've added freshness to the group. What we were looking to bring in was hunger - even though Kolo Toure is 32, he's very hungry to succeed. I'll be happy when the window shuts, to be honest, then we'll have all of our players - and we've done great business over the course of the summer - and we'll run with that until January and see where we're at then. I'm sure we'll look to strengthen again and finish off the second part of the season like we did last season." BR comments on the transfer window. Sorry guys but we are done and dusted until January.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Yo! Thanks man! Will surely see you guys once I come to Mumbai, hopefully this October I might come to pay you guys a visit. YNWA! LFC FTW!

    ReplyDelete
  172. Shay Given is on his way apparently...

    ReplyDelete
  173. we're not losing Suarez just yet :)

    ReplyDelete
  174. Boy it would have to be a big pie . Is there room at the table for one more.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I'm happy with what we've done and I think that BR knows exactly what he's doing. Chelsea can't keep all those players happy and this bid is perfect; if it works we have an outstanding player, if it doesnt and Jose continues to bench him then come January he'll be asking his agent if there's still any interest out there and he'll probably go for less that what we're offering now.
Like it or not this is a world cup year and Jose needs to understand that players of Mata's abilities are not going to lie down playing second fiddle to Bryne, Atsu, and Willian.
Could end up being that added spark that we'll need after we come through that infamous christmas period with all those games...fingers crossed

  176. I still shake my head at the paranoid nonsense that has some fans suggesting we try moves like this as a "smokescreen", as if the club is deliberately lying to us, pretending to be interested in players with no intention to sign. It's about a dumb as any unproven conspiracy theory. To accuse LFC of falsely trying to sign players, to be deliberately deceptive in that way, that's a fairly serious thing. You must think very little of this great club to think that's what's going on. Thankfully we can all rest assured that it's nothing more than the delusion of an over-excited fan who thinks we should have signed every player we've ever been linked with. Those of us who live in the real world can see that the club have done great business this window and that genuine efforts were made to find a world class attacking player to join the ranks. It's a shame to not get a player like Mata or Willian but what's great is that we're aiming as high as possible, not trying to sign average players who won't make a difference.

  177. Today is transfer deadline...I love it.Nobody been foolish now.No Mata and no Yarmoelenko join LFC.I think after this LFC must scout 1 or 2 strikers for replacement Luis Suarez next season.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Fans have a very short memory... FSG saved the club from going into admin. not that fare ago, and since then they broke the transfer fee record for the club... it didn'y quite work out, now they want to stablize the club a bit... i think it makes perfect sense

    ReplyDelete
  179. the pie did not get baked mate

    ReplyDelete
  180. lets hope we do not go through all the stuff again in january

    ReplyDelete
  181. Im dreaming that we will still be top in jan, so everything is going to be ok

    ReplyDelete
  182. Mata would have been . The one were we have to strip naked and walk nude down the streets off Liverpool but it didn't happen.
But im way more pleased have nothing negative to say but hope the boys the best .

    ReplyDelete
  183. the leagues been kind to us this year ,suarez should be back fully firing ,before we face the big boys

    ReplyDelete
  184. like i have said we should be top after ten games ,lets hope we can stay there or very close till jan ,then ,we could see some big signings to push us home

    ReplyDelete
  185. i was so excited when i mis-heard that! I thought it was odd that no-one else noticed but that didn't stop me :-)
