Confirmed: LFC chase exciting €4m Brazilian who's wanted by 'many clubs'.

Since Brendan Rodgers took over at Anfield, Liverpool's interest in Brazilian players seems to have increased exponentially, and it looks like the Reds boss has his eye on yet South American starlet.

According to Vasco Da Gama President Roberto Dinamite, Liverpool are interested in signing midfield prodigy Danilo Luiz da Silva.

Dinamite revealed this info during an interview with Radio Globo on Sunday.

Journalist Jorge Luiz Rodrigues - of Brazilian newspaper Globesporte - listened to the broadcast, and confirmed Dinamite's comments. He tweeted:

Dinamite's comments follow a newspaper report in Globesporte on Friday that claimed:

* Liverpool are currently in negotiations with Vasco.
* The proposed transfer fee is €4m.
* Buy and loan back is a possibility.
* Inter Milan are also interested.

Vasco General director Cristiano Koehler has confirmed that clubs are following Danilo, but insists the youngster will not leave. He told GlobeSporte:

"We have received a few enquiries [about Danilo], but it is not finalised. There is information that has been exchanged with a club. But at the moment it is stagnant, because he cannot quit now due to the transfer window,"

Stephane Krause, a former member of the company that owned Danilo, added:

"Many clubs want Danilo, but he can not leave Vasco until he is 18 years old. Also, Vasco still has the right to renew his contract"

A few facts about Danilo:

* 17 years old. Turns 18 in February.
* Primarily a defensive midfielder.
* Plays for Vasco's U20 team.
* 55% owned by Vasco. 45% owned by Danilo's reps.
* Current contract expires in 2015.

A buy and loan back deal seems the most likely solution at this stage. An understudy for Lucas? Is there still time to tie up a deal before the transfer window closes...?

  1. He can't come here until his 18 so he can't come now. It's the law in brazil to be 18 before you can move to a club outside of brazil

  2. Yes, but a buy-loan back deal would probably work. He wouldn't have to leave Brazil then.

  4. True point :-)

  5. ...isn't the telling bit that Vasco still has the "right" to renew his contract? If there was firm interest from a number of clubs then you'd be tempted to do just that and bump up the price a bit, no?

  6. Mata rumors now seems to vanish, as expected. Yarmalenko rumors is up and running currently, 12mn bid they say. I am not that excited now after losing out on Mata, haha!!

  7. He can join next summer. Coutinho signed for Inter when he was 16, arrived when he turned 18.

  11. So Suarez is now delighted to stay with Liverpool. Double standards..!! but looking at the Bale's presentation today, who wouldn't wanna be in his shoes? Massive salary, probably the biggest club in terms of finance, massive fans....!! Suarez must be gutted watching the presentation. He is after all twice the player Bale is although not half as marketable.

  15. 45% owned by Danilo's reps...

    I don't think third party ownership of players is allowed in PL, right Jaimie?

  17. Yes, we have amazing fans but to say we are better than others is a bit far fetched as it will be the case of generalizing fans of other clubs. But tbh, we cannot match RM with the current state of our club. Maybe after 4 years?

  18. If we buy the rights, nothing gonna stop. Tevez ring any bells?

  19. tbh honest i don't know hahah but now I've just read BR comments " We've certainly got more competition and as a manager you always want more, but we're more than happy with the business we've done. We've added freshness to the group. What we were looking to bring in was hunger - even though Kolo Toure is 32, he's very hungry to succeed. I'll be happy when the window shuts, to be honest, then we'll have all of our players - and we've done great business over the course of the summer - and we'll run with that until January and see where we're at then. I'm sure we'll look to strengthen again and finish off the second part of the season like we did last season." my dreams have been cut short.
