'I have a price' - LFC chase €15m Brazilian hailed as the 'best in La Liga'.

Over the weekend, Liverpool full-back Jose Enrique urged the club to push forward with some more 'new additions' before the transfer window closes, but with the Reds reportedly tracking Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira, the Enrique may live to regret that statement, especially if Brendan Rodgers ends up signing the Brazilian (or indeed any other left-back).

According to Eurosport today:

"Liverpool, Everton and Galatasaray are interested in the full-back Guilherme Siqueira.

"The Andalusian side have set the Brazilian’s release clause at €15m"

Real Madrid are also interested in the 27-year old defender, and according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti sees Siqueira as a replacement for Fabio Coentrao.

When asked about the Reds' interest during an interview on Sunday, Siqueira admitted the 'time had come' for him to move on, but - unfortunately for Liverpool - he seems to favour staying in Spain. He told Brazilian newspaper Daily Catarini:

"The goal is this [to move]. The time has come. I have a price but it does not depend only on me. I hope any deal is achieved as quickly as possible. I have preference for Spain, but today English football is so advanced".

Granada boss Lucas Alcaraz certainly thinks highly of Siqueira, and in May, he enthusiastically told reporters:

"For us, Siqueira is very important. For me, he’s the best left-back there is in La Liga. It makes him even better having Brayan for competition, who is a great player and a great professional.”

Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for another full-back, and in recent weeks, Liverpool have been linked with possible moves Ryan Bertrand and Aly Cissokho.

Is left-back a priority position, though? Arguably, yes.

* Enrique is the only experienced, natural left-back at Anfield.
* Glen Johnson can play there, but he's not a dedicated left-back.
* Jack Robinson is only 19, and has limited first-team experience.
* No one wants to see Stewart Downing deployed there again (!)

Competition is king in any successful football squad, and Enrique could definitely benefit from having to fight for his position.

  1. I agree that it's a position we need to consider bring someone in for extra competition. I like Enrique but he's not the best and Robinson is inexperienced and has made some woeful errors. I do however think that some cover for Lucas (not competition because I doubt there's many DM's in the world better than Lucas) and at least one more world class striker/goal scoring winger should be our main priorities.

    ReplyDelete
  2. We need a left back , high quality CB, and cover for DM as well as a top quality attacker. Rodgers seems to think we just need a LB and attacker which is a worry

Reports in Spain are saying Aly Cissokho will be joining us on loan with a view to guy at the end of it.

  4. how can anyone say what rodgers seems to think? he hasnt disclosed any targets nor have the club....

    ReplyDelete
  5. If Liverpool were offering or wanting to buy someone wouldn't Ian Ayre be back in England then Down under waiting for fans to Chant his name

    ReplyDelete
  6. 27 years old? I would rather see some one with a few more years ahead of them for that price.
I don't think LB is really much of an issue. Enrique is pretty solid. So bring some one who can learn from him, whilst giving him some competition/rest. Or promote from the youth academy. Robinson?

    ReplyDelete
  7. When did 27 years old become over the hill? That is a prime age for a footballer. This obsession with signing younger players is getting ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  8. maybe the price is ridiculous then for that age ? Not signing the player

    ReplyDelete
  9. I wouldn't say it was over the hill. As you say he is in his prime. Which could mean, he could be the other side of it, within a season or 2.
I'm not saying sign a 15 year old. 20-24 would do. I just think its better to get someone who you can utilise for a bit longer, or someone who may have some resale value.

    ReplyDelete
  10. yes just what we need when are we going to get some competition for the goalie ,oh we did and then loaned it out, footnote the mirror is saying that rodgers said they will be know loan just a sale

    ReplyDelete
  11. to be trueful rodgers dose not care to much about defending or so it seems

    ReplyDelete
  12. is this more breaking news from your hk sources

    ReplyDelete
  13. good point about ayre ,maybe hes called it a day for this window even a bit early by his standards

  15. How long is there in transfer window ? how long is there till season starts ? Ian ayre is in Australia Why ? who is signing or in talks with all these players we are talking to .
OR just Maybe we are being told porkies again .
NOT FSG or Ian Ayre surely

  17. gree m8 they are going to be a hell of a lot os p1ssed of posters on here when the transef window closes,i will not be one as i did not expect much at all anyway, but i must say even i have been left bemused by the transfers so far

  21. Look we hated hicks and Gillet we hated the sell before you buy policy Rafa had. I seriously believe these owner could not give a rats ass what we the fans think simple . they made massive deal with warrior sport as long as we buy the shirts there happy. otherwise fans shut the F$%#*k up .
FSG are building there profile For a sale one day Profit

    ReplyDelete
  22. and the sooner that day comes the better amen to that

    ReplyDelete
  23. you will know when they have total mind control over you,you start seeing marque signings all over the pitch at anfield, and you think the new kits are great

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mr Rodgers.. U got it all wrong. Left Back is not a priority. Right Back maybe. Get rid of GJ. Look at his performance last season. Look at his play against the Aussie side. He cannot defend. He has no pace. He loves attacking but he cannot attack. How many assist all season? 1 or 2? All the time, he loses the ball up the pitch or even deep. So many times, he got caught and the rest must cover for him. I am shocked that not many has been able to see this....

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'd rather play Johnson at left back, seems to have his head screwed on better there than he does at right back.

    ReplyDelete
  26. its the way rodgers sets out is team all gung ho and forget the defending no wonder the centerbacks had such a torrid time last season ,also no offence to carragher (great servant )but he had the benifit of having lucas playing infront of him instead of allen

    ReplyDelete
  27. how many attacking midfielders do we need centerback defensive midfeilder and a striker the 3 things we needed at the start of the window none of which have been addressed and troure is just a replacement for carragher, personally i do not think agger and skrtel are as bad as they are made out to be any centerback would struggle the way we play

    ReplyDelete
  28. Downing started 25 league games last season. No, just no. No way am I having that again next season, despite his improvement. So an attacking midfielder to replace him in the first team.

Striker for back up would be nice, but rather improve first XI in other positions. Unless Suarez goes.

He is going to keep the squad small me thinks, especially with no European football. Wisdom said recently he has been encouraged to go on loan by Rodgers. Coady has gone on loan.

I've criticized the defensive midfield as well as the CB options last season. Their problems are linked, in this system. So I agree to an extent to we could better there as well as CB area. Unlike you though, Skrtel and Agger I do think have been bad as some make out, and that Skrtel is not cut out for this system. No, not any centre back would struggle as badly as Skrtel and Agger did, in such a system. It is not some random system that has just recently been pulled out of Rodgers' backside, it has been around in football for a long time in variation. In terms of what position to improve first, CB or DM, I'll go with CB for now. Of course, rather both but we aren't rolling in the money and seems more likely a CB will leave rather than Lucas or Allen.

Well it's true anyway, the owner has came out and said it :) an I don't mind

    ReplyDelete
  30. or play Downing at left back ,he's useless upfront anyway

    ReplyDelete
  31. even if suarez stays a striker is needed considering how easerly sturridge picks up injuries

    ReplyDelete
  32. still hardly a marque signing is it

    ReplyDelete
  33. It would be nice to have a back up striker but I just don't see that being high up the priority list at the moment. Unless Borini is sold, as then it would be really short of strikers.

    ReplyDelete
  34. borini could not hit a barn door m8 the chance against preston and the one the other day, confirmed that

    ReplyDelete
  35. liverpool4life5655:57 pm, July 22, 2013

No I agree n that point but it's to push erinque more because at the moment he hasn't got that,we have also asked about Roberto Soldado, who would be the marque signing. And would improve the striking department

    ReplyDelete
  36. we cant even go gung ho ....2 nil against indonesia when everyone else has been sticking 10 past them

    ReplyDelete
  37. suarez will go jase trust me...ive been laughed at for saying they will sell on the last day so they don't need to spend the money.....and it not because i use to watch x files

    ReplyDelete
  38. Have you ever heard of preseason?

Do you think both of the matches City lost so far will affect their EPL season?

Why do you even bother with these pointless comments of yours?

    ReplyDelete
  39. it keeps me off the streets what your excuse

    ReplyDelete
  40. Its an issue when englands first choice right back has to cover there, when theres an injury. 27 isnt old. And anyway its the resale value that Fsg base transfers on.

    ReplyDelete
  41. of coarse it is...what else would you call a loan signing Granada

    ReplyDelete
  42. that's because there arnt any

    ReplyDelete
  43. if he finished any earlier we would be in the jan window

Give the man a chance, still a month to go and abit until the window closes. We have 25 million to spend on one big player lets see where he puts it.l.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i couldn't make it down the Rec on Saturday so i missed him

    ReplyDelete
  61. my guess in the bank ,and come on if we sell suarez do you really believe we are going to spend nearly 70 million

    ReplyDelete
  62. if max and co don't respond to my comments i feel im doing something wrong.....its like taking washing in

    ReplyDelete
  63. Shocked to see so many still get on Lucas' back. I even read a deep thread on a forum about his many misplaced passes. I mean, the guy is up there in the top bracket. Didn't anyone notice how the team came better together after he returned. Do these so called fans have any iq whatosever?

I think it's unlikely Suarez will leave, Real Madrid are now keeping higuain, arsenal won't offer 55 million.... I'm sure BR has talked to Suarez about it and told him his plans for Liverpool :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. liverpool4life5656:55 pm, July 22, 2013

Was that supposed to be funny?

    ReplyDelete
  68. totally agree m8 i said something about is impact on the center backs earlier

    ReplyDelete
  69. Why? There has been plenty of investment from the american owners. Both for the first team, the youth setup and also in new stadium plans. Would you rather have some arab sheikh with no clue? Sure, it would be fantasy football. But unlike most of these sad clubs LFC has a soul. I for once think FSG is doing just great.

    ReplyDelete
  70. dont mention kamikazee you will be shopped

    ReplyDelete
  71. Preseason has no bearing on what happens when the competitive matches start so his comment about us only scoring two against them is really pointless.

    If you say so

    ReplyDelete
  99. Joel Pohjanpalo

    Boateng , or + Bernard

    Alderweireld, Sakaho, Papadopoulos

    Keep Suarez for now.

DM? what ever ended with the jorginho bid. . . anyway… i think that, in a somewhat creative way, would finally make a steady confident team.

    oh and sell downing

    ReplyDelete
  100. Aspas was bought for that role I imagine.

    ReplyDelete
  101. But yet we suppose to believe what you saying.

    ReplyDelete
  102. My biggest worry is that we will lose Suarez late on in the transfer window and either get an inadequate replacement or not replace him at all. If and when Sturridge gets injured and we end up relying on Aspas and Borini we'll be in trouble. A centre back wouldn't go a stray either, after that I'm actually fairly happy with the team. Of course I hope not to see as much as Downing but if Suarez stays it should be him,Sturridge and Sterling front 3. Lucas and Stevie in Midfield with Coutinho ahead of them and I'd be happy with that anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Ah yep, forgot about him. Supposed to be able to play on the right as well. In reference to my comment above about Downing, this fits into. So may well see less of Downing anyway, regardless of whether a new attacking mid player comes in or not.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Ignore the usual suspects having yet another dig. My comment comes from Rodgers' own quotes in a recent interview. He mentions needing a LB and an attacker, that's all.
Hopefully he still wants Toby Alderweireld , a snip at 7-8m- lost hope of Papadopoulous , but I think he sees Gerard playing the DM role in the future after we get another controlling/attacking midfielder

    ReplyDelete
  105. Eh? Johnson. Kelly. Wisdom. All capable of playing RB, how the heck is RB a priority? At LB we have Jose and errr....

    ReplyDelete
  106. Torrid time? They lost LESS games than our supposed "solid" Steve Clarke drilled back 4. Had several more clean sheets too.
So we lost more and had fewer clean sheets . Well, at least we scored what, 47 goals that season?

    ReplyDelete
  107. were does it say Liverpool get the money ? do you know how to read? It said Build the profile business profile. with out putting in your own money smart team wise not so.

    ReplyDelete
  108. In stage one you did put in the sale of torres Kuyt hyppia wages other players you did take that out .
you also took out Jovanovic Polsen Konciesky cole and others we did have to get rid off them to lower the wage bill to bring .Sturridge coutinho who are so far our best buys. And this transfer windom we sold 23 mil to bring in 23mil. Over all I would maybe like to see Jamie to a articale showing since they have come in from dalglish to Rodgers players in out sold money spent could be good

    ReplyDelete
  109. It's already available. +5m net gain for the season when Torres left. -30.2 m the following year net spend, and -40.8m spend the year after.
Check out transfermarket .com. It shows the deals inc loans player by player.
I think you'll be surprised. I've posted this before, but certain posters insist on continuing to say nothing has been spent and FSG are just parasites looking for a quick buck.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Mike - with respect, the figures on transfermarkt are not based on official club accounts, so I wouldn't take them as gospel. The figures they use are the usual media estimates.

    ReplyDelete
  111. There's a new communication tool thingy called the Internet so you can be anywhere in the world and stay in touch. It can be used with a laptop or a smartphone. Geography is irrelevant!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Rodgers also coming out to say that left back is a priority so these links seem very plausible. Only thing that says to me is that we're not looking for a centre back, which would then indicate that we're going to stick with Agger, Skrtel and Toure. I think most agree that it's not really that impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I read a post that Cissokho is being taken on for loan and the total cost would be 1 million with a buy option attached to it at the end of next which is around 4 million I reckon. Guilherme Siquera is being chased by RM and if he has preference for Spain so I don't think he'd come to us.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Lucky your not running my company

    ReplyDelete
  115. its the way we played and the manner of defeat at the end of the day kenny got european football rodgers did not

    ReplyDelete
  116. no you can believe what you want

    ReplyDelete
  117. we have competition yes ,but it still dose not mean they are any good

    ReplyDelete
  118. would that be the same interview that rodgers stated, mingolet was competition for pepe or the one were he stated he was just after a left back and a AM,or perhaps the one were he said we were after marque signings now ,or maybe the one when he said he thought suarez would stay but he may not,or even the one were he said no european football would be a blessing in disguise, but it could be the one were he stated it was hard to attract players because we had no european football

    ReplyDelete
  119. Correct...but then again they might be. Judging them before you've seen them is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  120. i am judgeing them on what i have seen of them and ,sterling and ibe looked way ahead of them

    ReplyDelete
  121. Lucas is a long way from top drawer. He was rubbish for three seasons and o.k. for two. Hardly makes him world class. He has no pace, is a poor passer and gives the ball away a lot. What is he good at? Have any of you been watching football for long? Because if you think Lucas is anywhere near good enough to be playing in a team which wants to compete for a C.L. place, you are sadly deluded.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I agree. He gives away free kicks in very dangerous places and has scored 2 goals in 200 games. What's so great about that?

    ReplyDelete
  123. So that's it then. After two friendlies you've made up your mind...why aren't you in football your clearly brilliant in deciding who will make it and who won't?
They clearly have no prospect of making any impact and we have wasted money yet again.
Then again, imagine if you'd been in charge when we signed Ian Rush. You'd have chased him as he didn't score in his early games.

    ReplyDelete
  124. its not about scoring its about things that i see eg poor touch poor distribution ,and are so light weight the premiership defenders will blow them of the ball

    ReplyDelete
  125. Like I said you must be a genius being able to make judgements on basis of a couple of very early friendlies. You're wasted on here.....

    ReplyDelete
  126. If you watch Lucas play you will know he is one of the best readers of the game In the premiership, also his passing isn't that bad you have to remember this season he will be back to full fitness so if your going to judge him at least let him regain his fitness, you forget masherano have away needless free kicks and didn't score much but was still regarded as one of the best defensive mids around

    ReplyDelete
  127. Thanks for the heads up, What site shows true figures?
There's still no way FSG have failed to provide transfer funds. Why not do what Tony said, and put the issue to bed once and for all?

    ReplyDelete
  128. By winning the League cup, not by League position.
As for the manner oif the defeat, even allowing for your right to your opinion, and you think all 9 defeats were shocking and as a result of poor defending, there were FIVE less of them, and FOUR more clean sheets.
Are you REALLY saying that Kenny's side defended better in losing 5 more matches? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  129. they imo achieved more success

    ReplyDelete
  130. i never said i was right ,its just my opinion ,and i hope i am wrong and they prove to be world class

    ReplyDelete
  131. hahaha i like your style lid.....your probably right ...but compared to allen hes like pele so perhaps my judgment is clouded

    ReplyDelete
