Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of adding another talented youngster to the club's burgeoning academy.
According to Sky Sports this afternoon:
"Liverpool have won the race to sign Bristol City teenager Herbie Kane.
"A host of Premier League clubs were chasing Kane but he opted for a move to Anfield.
"He is regarded as one of the best young prospects in the country and has been likened to Steven Gerrard in terms of his playing style".
Earlier this evening, 14-year old Kane - who regularly played at U18 level for Bristol City last season - confirmed the Liverpool transfer on his Twitter account. Someone tweeted: "Well done on signing with Liverpool! You deserve it", To which Kane directly replied: "Thank You"
On 2nd May 2013, Liverpool U15s lost 3-1 to their Bristol City counterparts (at Ashton Gate), and it's possible that Kane caught the club's eye during that game, which then prompted the club to look into signing the youngster.
Bristol City's academy is believed to be one of the best in the country, and prior to the 3-1 defeat in May, the U15s had beaten the Reds twice on Merseyside. After the game, Dave Horseman - Lead Youth Development Coach - enthused:
"We've got a reputation across the country as being one of the better clubs, and this just goes to show that we don't just compete, we're actually better than some of the biggest clubs around. We have some really talented boys coming through"

at 14, who knows how he will do. You see hundreds of these deals happen and then they never make it. Good luck to the lad, but from my end I`m ignoring the fact we signed him as that`s just two young for papers to even report on imo. Lets not pressure the lad, and leave him alone until he is 18 at a min.
ReplyDeleteWow! With him and Rossiter, we'll have TWO Gerrards in midfield! Seeing as Gerrard was 18 when he made his debut all we need to do now is wait two years for Rossiter and four years for this kid to turn 18!
ReplyDeleteSpot on.... I want to get excited about who's coming to make an impact this coming season!
ReplyDeletePlus Coady, who was likened to Gerrard in the past, too :-)
ReplyDeleteIf recent reports are to be believed, it probably won't be Mkhitaryan.
ReplyDeleteIf Liverpool don't sign Mkhitaryan or Eriksen I'll be fu*king angry as fu*k.
ReplyDeletesorry to say you might have to be fu*king angry as fu*ck. Seems like we might not get to sign Eriksen but it is believed that we are going to sign the Armenian Mkhitaryn by the end of the week. It has been found out that his rights are partially held by a third party group. So that adds an interesting wrinkle in the proceedings.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a pity alright, but, if they dont wanna sign who could blame them, no CL, not challenging for the League, our best player wanting away and complaining about our situation, if I had a choice I would'nt sign for a team like that also. Sad as it is, it is the truth.
ReplyDeleteUh, well. Perhaps you need some anger management training :-) It's no reason to get upset. Maybe we should start taking all the paper's transfer gossip with a pinch of salt, though I'd suggest that we better make it a heap of salt.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to LFC lad. A talent is a talent. Hopefully his full potential will be reveal soon.
ReplyDeleteGood to see my 2 clubs coming together!
ReplyDeleteI'd quite happily take Honda. Watched him play last night and he took Italy apart for most of the game. Good to see Aqualani get subbed after 30 mins. what an excuse of a player he was.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to LFC but its a bit worrying that Bristol City have a better youth setup than us?
ReplyDeletewatching those goals, it was poor defending and keeping for all three.
ReplyDeleteAll together now! ALL WE NEED IS A TEAM OF STEVIE Gs, A TEAM OF STEVIE Gs A TEAM OF STEVIE Gs!
ReplyDeleteon another subject i see shakter have expressed they have not received 1 bid of lfc ,hope he has not got on that plane lol;-)
ReplyDeleteyouth football at that level is not about results, its about developing the better players, my lads been at an academy for 5 years ,and they try to develop the better players for later on in life hes started off at centerback then left and right back then central midfield and last season he was center forward,i had concerns about this at his last assessment ,because other players who have been there for a few years seem to stay in the same position, and was told by the coaches that they do not even think about positions till they are 16,and it was a massive string to his bow that so many coaches thought that he was good enough to play in so many positions, and
ReplyDeletethat the results did not matter as long as they are playing the right way, other clubs are much more direct and results count more,i think you will find this to be the case at lfc or at least i hope, the city schoolboys side which is all about results is completetly different and the city of liverpool,s is one of the strongest in the country,
Don't forget Jay Spearing
ReplyDeleteNah, he's Mascherano - no room for a Masch in a team of Stevie Gs!
ReplyDeleteHe's nothing like Gerrard :-)
ReplyDeleteWe can only hope.....
ReplyDeleteThe mix of reports going on at the minute is enough to make a migraine seem preferable!
I am hoping this is one deal that goes in our favour though. I had a feeling on Coutinho's ability before he signed and that feeling is there for HM.......
Just something about his body dynamics that tells me he is a bit special and would absolutely work wonders for us.....Think he would fit into our style of play like a glove.
(note to self, control passion....!)
Loooool! According to reports HM should be here by end of week... It's feels like when I was a kid the week before Xmas praying for a SNES - just hope it doesn't turn out to be a meccano set
