Agent confirms: €12m star is 'ready' to sign for a 'big club like LFC'. Pursue...?

The Agent of St.Etienne star Kurt Zouma - who is wanted by Manchester United - has given the clearest indication yet that the 6'2 defender wants a move to Liverpool FC this summer.

Zouma has been linked with a move to Anfield several times over the last couple of months, and in an interview last night, the 18-year old's rep - David Vanditelli - told Eurosport:

"Kurt is ready to go. Liverpool and other clubs are very interesting.

"With the greatest respect to St. Etienne, it is better to be on the bench for a big club like Liverpool"

Vanditelli went on to insist that the youngster would cost '€10-€12m', which seems excessive for a teenager with barely any experience.

Zouma recently admitted that he is 'flattered' by the interest from other clubs, but in February, he signed a contract extension with St. Etienne until 2017. After signing, he released the following statement via the club's official website:

"This extension is a great vote of confidence in me from the club. St Etienne means a lot to me because it is where I was developed.

"This is a new step in my career. I still need to learn. I will also gain experience and I know that will help me to grow."

I doubt St. Etienne will be happy to hear Zouma is 'ready to go' despite only extending his contract a few months ago. It's a bit of a kick in the teeth to be honest...unless the extension is a way to ensure the Ligue 1 clubs gets a decent transfer fee this summer...?

  1. A good signing if we could get him for around 5-6m,(dont think it would happen) but we'd need to bring in a slightly more experienced defender alongside in to start.
Also if we did make this signing Coates may aswell pack his bags i think.

  3. One of the hottest properties in European football. Would be great to get him. Also fits what some Reds are asking for, a strong defender with African roots. Doubt we would get him for less than 8m.

  6. im lead to belive he started as a defender so that might not be a bad shout he wins every header when hes back in his own box and we are so poor at defending set peices why not ?

  7. So far he is not capped at senior level. He's been playing for France in all sorts of under-age teams (U-16 and upwards). He'd be eligible to play for the Central African Republic.

  8. What's the chance of us getting an experienced old head this window? Need someone who can boss the defence about, keep em all on a tight string. Maybe Agger can grow into that role?

  11. Ah great stuff, looking forward to it. Feeling positive for next year, ad to the mix some top signings and we will have a quality 11 to pick from. Happy to hear BR has learned lessons. Crazy fact I heard, BR is the 7th longest serving boss in the prem league. Mad year.

  15. i will cast my vote now .sell reina who has got his finger out in the last 2 months only to impress barca. he has been piss poor over the last 3 seasons. sell coates not good enough in the air., no positional sense, and makes charlie adam look like carl lewis .the man is so slooooow.am not sure lucas will capture the form he was in prior to the injury if a bid comes in iwould sell. that would poss raise approx 18 to 20 mill for all 3.then spearing 2million. 20million off fsg plus this 20million .40 to spend and keep andy carroll plan b

  17. Yea agree, if anyone thinks Coates is worth anything near what we paid they are dreaming.
Think Lucas just isn't the player he was, need Vieira/Makelele type enforcer to beef up the mid.
I really think enrique is much improved and would like to keep him, Johnson too. Cant see why they get stick.
Would like to see borini start tomo to see what he can give for next year.
