Earlier this month, Reds defender Daniel Agger urged the club to sign Ajax star Christian Eriksen, arguing that the youngster is the 'just the type of player Liverpool need'. Borussia Dortmund appear to be in pole-position to sign Eriksen, but the £20m-rated midfield maestro insists that Liverpool are still in with a chance of signing him.
In an interview last night, Eriksen admitted that he'd 'talked to Daniel' about moving to Liverpool, and made it clear that Dortmund is not the only club in with a chance of completing his signing. He told Sporten.dk:
"Dortmund is one of the options but it is not the only option.
"Liverpool is definitely an option. It is also one of the clubs that is a step-up from Ajax, and it's a different league and a different caliber.
"It sounds very exciting, but we'll have to see. I don't know if there is anything specific, and I've even talked to Daniel [Agger] about it".
That all sounds very promising, and Ajax Sporting Director Marc Overmars confirmed earlier today that Dortmund 'have not made a formal offer for Eriksen'.
Over the last year, there has been constant speculation about Eriksen's transfer plans, and most of it comes from the player himself (!) He constantly makes comments about his future, and if he moves to LFC, that kind of blabbermouth approach won't fly with Reds fans, that's for sure. Most recently, Eriksen told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad:
"If I could play for clubs like Manchester City and PSG – why not? For me it is important that I have a good feeling at the club. I should be able to play football and then I could develop. I will be a better football player."
Speaking to Sporten.dk in March, Ajax coach Frank De Boer - who recently confirmed that Liverpool scouts are 'often present' at the Amsterdam Arena - enthused:
"Barcelona dominate as a team until they play the ball to Messi, who can things that no one else can. That is also Christian's role here, and Eriksen has the potential to be like him".
In his column for Eurosport in April, Liverpool legend Molby argued that Eriksen 'is exactly the type of player Liverpool should be looking at', and predicted that he 'has all the tools to become a top class player'. The Dane also sounded a note of caution, however. He warned:
"It is very exciting to be linked with a player of that quality, but I would suggest he [Eriksen] is another player who would need time to adjust to the Premier League"
The future is already looking bright for Liverpool, but if the Reds could pull off the Eriksen signing then the sky is the limit. Coutinho - also 20 - is proving t be an amazing signing, and it's conceivable that the Eriksen could have a similar impact.
If Liverpool really want Eriksen then the club needs to pull out all the stops and do whatever it takes to sign him, or the likes of Man City or Dortmund will march in and snatch him away.

yes i did post it check if it was not deleted
ReplyDeleteAgreed, but Dempsey went elsewhere because LFC tried to lowball Fulham with a ridiculous offer. If they'd offered the same as Spurs, we probably would've got him.
ReplyDeleteAgree about the money/role thing though, with the emphasis probably being on money.
jaimie you are accusing me of lying i posted it last week so stop deleting comments just because it suits you ,i did not state the part about agger but i said the other part about lfc dragging thier heels
ReplyDeletejaimie if you want to keep deleting my posts thats fine its pathetic ps whats these other lfc sites your always advising people to go two a checked a few out during my ban and the biggest complaint on them was about you thinking your god with the delete button god knows where they got that idea from, its a waste of time posting if you only let the ones you like or the ones that agree with you go live
ReplyDeleteIf we do sign him, I hope it is for the fee that they were reporting last week (10-13 million). Definitely wouldn't like to see us pay more than that for him. Does nobody else find it a bit strange that big clubs aren't lining up to take him seeing as he is definitely available? If he is as good as some people make out, surely we would be seeing much more interest in him from other clubs. Stil have my doubts about him.
ReplyDeleteSaw an article in soccernet saying 'Dortmund yet to bid for Eriksen'. The asking price for this player is 15 mil EUR, according to the article, and Dortmund valued him at 12 mil EUR. Chances of him coming to LFC if Dortmund comes into picture? Or is LFC waiting to see if Dortmund is really interested? Or is LFC keen in getting the boy? Unknown, everything's unknown at this point.
ReplyDeleteWe had ourselves several good signings since January so just hope we can ride on it. But now we really need to be a little more proactive in transfer activities. If we are going to sign any player, get that arse moving.
I don't think you could get a loan that big JACKIE.But if we all had a whip-round I'm sure we could afford him!
ReplyDeleteIts a little game of chess. FSG are waiting to see what Dortmund will offer, then they'll lowball it by 50%, be refused, lose out, and then get some nobody from the murky depths of the Moroccan 2nd division who scored a hat trick for the reserves last summer. Ive every confidence we'll get someone equally as good if we don't get Eriksen. Hes a great prospect but hes only one player among many. Hes whoring himself about at the moment and not in a classy way.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind though that we lowballed Fulham for two reasons:
ReplyDelete1. He wanted to come here... we knew it, he knew it, Fulham knew it.
2. More importantly, there wasn't a market initially. Fulham actually played it very smart. They could accept our low-ball offer, or they could wait it out, hope he stayed healthy, and see if a market developed. In this case, he stayed healthy, and Spurs came in with a higher offer.
No other club showed much interest in Coutinho and Sturridge though
ReplyDeleteVery true but I don't think their availability was as widely publicised as Eriksen. This story about him being available has been running for months. That is why I find it a little strange regarding other clubs interest or lack of.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sort of. Would be interesting to see how Brendan deals with having to find a place for Coutinho, Eriksen, Suarez and Sturridge. They've all got way to much talent to see them rot on the bench.. So interesting to see what BR does if we have them all in our squad next season.
ReplyDeleteAnd btw guys, his name is Eriksen, not Ericson, Ericsson, Ericsan, ...
jaimie i posted about eriksen had given the club a two week deadline last week on your thread
ReplyDeletehe is the best agentconfirms lfc want exciting £6millionsouth american striker,so i must have read it somewhere let the post go live and people can make there own minds up,it was 7days ago
that would be comical if it was not true imo the part about lowballing it
ReplyDeleteFor the love of christ (!) - That is something totally different! In your original post, you made out that THIS article is 'od news', which is a dismissive, sniping thing to say, especially when the comments were irrefutably made LAST NIGHT.
ReplyDeleteYou are wrong. You did not read these comments last week, so next time, be specific about what you mean.
Seriously, you are really getting on my nerves with your constant moaning about the site. If you want a permanent ban, keep it up.
so eriksen was not reported to have made the comments about giving lfc 2 weeks last week the part about talking to agger was not mentioned, and how is not agreeing with every single word you say moaning about your site,if you can tell me a few other sites to go to where the main topic of conversation is not you and your opinions i will gladly give it a try
ReplyDeleteWe're dragging our heels here. You can practically hear Spurs waiting to make a bid, while Dortmund will soon make a move if they haven't already made the enquiries. We need to make a bid, right now, and make him know that we want him, we need him, we LOVE him.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing may happen with Papadopoulos, we're dragging our heels and letting everything run around in the press. We need to take action and sign these players before bigger teams compete with us, otherwise we'll lose and be left feeding on the scraps.
Squad rotation is a nice thing to have, huh!! I worry Coutinho will burn out soon.
ReplyDeleteOvermars has said there is no formal offer from Dortmund but I still think Dortmund will either get him or De Bruyne or even both. That central attacking midfield role between the front man and central midfield (Gundogan is awesome!) is up for grabs at Dortmund. Reus is too narrow-minded in his approach play and not that expansive in terms of creativity to do what Gotze and Kagawa did in that role for Dortmund, I think Reus is better off coming inside from the wing. So I think they will sign someone for that role and my money is on him or De Bruyne. Only seen two games of De Bruyne this season but despite having it in my mind that he is a wide player, he was playing in a central role for those games and did well. I think these players' transfers are linked to what clubs do with other players (e.g. whether Chelsea want De Bruyne back at the club or whether Leverkusen want him as a replacement for Schurrle who is probably off to Chelsea).
ReplyDeleteI would love to see one of Eriksen or De Bruyne at Anfield. I don't see either being sold for more than £15m each, which surely should be within FSG's reach....one hopes.
What is so friggin' hard to understand about this?!
ReplyDelete1. What Eriksen said in the past is irrelevant.
2. This article is about what he said LAST NIGHT.
3. The comments I've posted here were made last night, and are unrelated to anything he said in the past.
4. What has Eriksen giving LFC 2 weeks got to do with him saying that LFC is 'definitely an option' etc. Nothing, so stop wasting everyone's time.
"Liverpool is definitely an option. It is also one of the clubs that is a step-up from Ajax, and it's a different league and a different caliber." That quote sounds like made up lies.
ReplyDeleteits been reported he can go for 10 mil! if brendan rodgers doesnt go for this guy then hes stupid! he bought allen for 15 and hes not shown anything near the class this guy has! Erikssen will play every game for liverpool in a midfield with gerrard!
ReplyDeletei just hope the club takes the chance to sign him
point 4 of you argument if eriksen did say what i said last week why have we done nothing, and on another post on this thread you are saying lets forget about everything else and focus on OPERATION ERIKSEN,so we both agree on something i was just saying if the comments that eriksen had supposedly said last week were true how comes lfc are not doing anything about it ,and if the latest rumours are true will they still not get a move on and let another player slip through the net
ReplyDeleteWatched Grenier a few times this season not real impressed and i am liking Erikson less by the minute give me Alcantara any day and what has happened to the Johnathon Dos Santos rumour?
ReplyDeleteif they want ten fsg will other five and we will lose out again
ReplyDeleteIt happened with Dempsey last year so i agree with you. I get frustrated every time the transfer window comes around as we always seem to wait til the last minute to do our business
ReplyDeleteThis guy gives Dave Whelan a run for his money. Saying that, if we sign him top 4 is guaranteed.
ReplyDeletePriceless. Glad it's not just me...
ReplyDeleteDon't we need Ajax's permission before we speak to the player? He's still in contract, so surely we cannot approach him directly before agreeing a fee with his present club... So him not hearing anything concrete so far is hardly terminal...
ReplyDeleteWe've are going to shortly announce the signing of iago aspas!:) good signing.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on the possibility of signing him then JK comes along and relights the burnings embers of deluded hope with this....you bastard Jamie :)
ReplyDeleteBut on a serious note if we COULD sign him (Say our prayers lads) and popa we seriously would be in very exciting position come August
what's more funny is that LFC are dragging their feet again in paying 15 mil for Eriksen when they did not hesitate to get a player like Allen for the same amount a season ago.Just hope its not too late to make a deal
ReplyDeleteHow do you know about this?
ReplyDeleteGuillem Balague has just said, will be a great signing, and a real talent
ReplyDeleteOn the Echo website, tweets are already around. Plus Ballague which is ironic
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched him before, what kind of player is he?
ReplyDeleteBallague:
ReplyDeleteAspas: forward that can play wide and striker.Fast running with ball, great finisher.1 of top youngstairs in Spain. And soon will b confirmed
That's two signings already, more I think than anyone else in the Prem.
ReplyDeleteSo much for dragging our feet .... you know who you are......
Thanks. Not sure about top youngsters, as he will be 26 in August. I guess that is a good thing too, as players of that age (usually) have better chance of having good consistency.
ReplyDeleteHaha I agree fully! An Rodgers is getting exciting players in , good times ahead :-)
ReplyDeletesmall, nippy, scored 29 goals season before last and 11 in 33 appearances in a relegation side last season in La Liga
ReplyDeleteAccording to Marca, the club have paid less than the release clause but the release clause would be lower if they got relegated (thus less than the fee LFC have agreed to). I guess we wanted to get it done asap, e.g. maybe because of competition.
ReplyDeleteTrue not really dragging our heals at all. Know nothing about this chap. What should we expect?does this mean "see ya" Carroll or downing?
ReplyDeleteHow wrong are you? Haha we've sorted two signings out already. Getting proven wrong again :-)
ReplyDeleteTo think we went nearly 2 seasons with 1 proven goal scorer, we have 5 now. Think Brendan means business. No one can say FSG don't try. Maybe they have overpaid in the past but at least that's better then not spending at all. Come on LFC
ReplyDeleteTwo players in and the window doesn't even open till June 1st??
ReplyDeleteIs he a youngster. Thought he was 25? Very happy tho. FSG seem to be breaking the rules for Brendan. He and Gerard must be throwing some weight about? Good on ya boys.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. The Armenian is ten times the player. Eriksen is too lightweight.
ReplyDeleteHeard that too. Maybe 4 or 5mill???
ReplyDeletehttp://vimeo.com/43101098
ReplyDeletequick vid
Looking at his goalscoring history doesn't make great reading. He's got the majority of his goals outside of LA LIGA.Never really got going scoring wise until 3 years ago before that his goal stats look similar to EMILE HESKEY's.
ReplyDeleteApparently would have dropped to 7m euros, so that is close.
ReplyDeleteConsidering Laudrup has eyes on La Liga bargains, wouldn't surprise me if he was genuinely interested in this chap.
Chan he is a good player, really plays every game like its his last, which brings us also to his down side. He is more of a nutter than Suarez lol.
ReplyDeleteHe's not going to be a first choice striker. Looks quick enough to stretch defences, if he scored loads in La Liga he would be £20m , not 6.
ReplyDeleteCan play across the front 3 though , and that versatility will allow us to have a very fluid line up at the front.
He a good striker, Chelsea wanted him in Janaury, also he would do well in our team.coutinho pulling the strings in midfield setting him on his wages also he in clinical with his finishing.
ReplyDeleteJK will love him...... ;)
ReplyDeleteSo do you think that puts an end to hopes of getting that Armenian chap or is he a totally different type of player/we have space for him?
He's not going to be first choice striker though. Fast enough to stretch defences, and versatile enough to play across the front three, which will give us an interchangeable forward line.
ReplyDeletePSIn his last 3 seasons, Michu scored 7 and 8 goals a season in the Spanish 2nd div then 15 in 39 appearances in La Liga. Don't forget Vigo are a relegation level side
Dave Whelan makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteYou know when he was spouting off about how Martinez 'turned down' the LFC job to stay with Wigan, and how he would only leave for a top 4 job?
Seems to have changed his mind now. All of a sudden, he has Whelan's blessing. Why the change? Seems like this is the first time Martinez had another job to go to...
Good question. I really wanted Henrikh Mkhitaryan
ReplyDeleteto sign for us, and in terms of space I think he still could, but we would def need to sell someone off. Henrikh is a also a player who can play across the line, but I think he is better than Aspas by a far way. I would guess Aspas is like Toure, a back up signing and a player to give better squad depth. If we didnt sell anyone then I would say it would be hard getting Henrikh in and keeping everyone happy, but if Downing goes or Borini then we might be able to juggle it around. We know have a few players who can play that AM role/just off striker depending on formation. Coutinho for example is best in the AM role, but we will prob use him on the left, which IMO isnt making the most of his talents. Aspas will play up top, but both Suarez and Sturridge would be ahead of him in starting order imo. So its who plays out right? that is where Henrikh can play well.
I think it would be great to get Henrikh too as having options is what you want.
They are different types of players in terms of style, but there is only so many spaces to fill so I would guess Henrikh wont happen as much as I would like it too as he is my first choice player for any new signings up top.
From what I hear he will be a more attacking kuyt. More goals but just as hard working. Think downing could be on his way?
ReplyDeleteFor me it has to be Borini, purely as the system we play doesn`t really have two forwards, more one forward with players who play off Strikers. Those same players can also play as the Striker, therefore I think out right we have less players than we do who can play as the striker. However as Borini was a BR signing and not had much of a chance and as BR wanted Downing gone I expect it to be Downing, wrongly imo.
ReplyDeletePlayers currently who might play as Striker
Sturridge
Suarez
Aspa
Borini
Players who might play out right
Downing
Aspa
Granted others can play there but its not there best position or natural one and I see no point in playing players out of position just to fill the space
The guy is a joker. The biggest self publicist ever. Wouldn't be surprised if there was something going on between him and Martinez. Such a love in. If you listen to the sports bar on talk sport Jason cundy cracks me up about Wigan.
ReplyDeleteThe express is saying £6.6mil
ReplyDeleteAdding to that. If you include the AM role in the attacking roles as sometimes we play 4-2-3-1 with the middle of the 3 in essense being a attacking mid, then check out the amount of players we have to fill those four positions at present (excluding any young guns in the youth team and excluding Gerrard who I`m guessing will play deeper in mid).
ReplyDeleteSuarez
Sturridge
Coutinho
Sterling
Borini
Downing
Hendo
Shelvey
Aspa
(plus AC if he stays)
Thats 9 players for four spots (excluding AC). Working on the age old 2 players per position rule and you got to think one is being sold.
MIKE, You sound like his agent.I've never seen him play or can't remember him.You clearly have but don't take what I say like it's a personal attack.I looked up his scoring record and stated what i saw.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to wet myself with excitement until I see him in a match not go off what GUILLEM BALAGUE (although very knowledgeable) or any other person says.I hope he turns out like MICHU but there aren't many of those players about!
This could be a transfer window of 1999 houllier type proportions.
ReplyDeleteI`m liking what we are doing so far. My big worry now is im getting excited for next season and ever hopeful we will sign a new DM and another CB. Aka Papa and Diame then I would be made up....Then they sell Suarez and all my joys would be crushed. I really hope that doesn`t happen as the team is starting to take shape
ReplyDeletemike the difference is you can snipe all day because your a enabler for jaimie were as i and others get barred
ReplyDeleteOf all the transfer rumor , i really want to see eriksen and papfopolous in liverpool
ReplyDeleteAbout right. Not breaking the bank. Really feel FSG will give Brendan more then the £20 mill that has been rumoured. 12 mill for erikson, 12 mill papa, plus maybe 2 more. This seems like ploy to show Luis we mean business so he will stay??
ReplyDelete2 signings in already Jas mate lol.
ReplyDeleteWe all done it mate, say something then a few mins later it backfires. Well I have anyway.
h yes two world class players that will have the rest of the league shitting them selves another sniper who gets away with murder and is never banned,no doubt i will but the truth must be said i know what you are
ReplyDeleteI do hope Hendo stays. Injects a decent level of energy into the side when he plays, which helps the team noticeably. May never be a first XI player for a top 4 side but I think he will be good to have in the squad at least in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI think shelvey will get sent out on loan, especially if no one off that list leaves.
Really hope we get him :)
ReplyDeletetwo signings that total about 5 million and are hardly going to have the big boys looking over their shoulder we can make another 5 signings like this and not improve much
ReplyDeletefair enough have they got you excited?because they have not me
ReplyDeleteNo, point is you said we was dragging our heels, you say things which don't make sense at all. Also "sniper" nope just says how things are. An haha okay then ;-)
ReplyDeleteBoth good picks and both would strengthen us. I`m still struggling to fit everyone into what I think the team will be, but in fairness we do still have a few players who aint good enough so could be sold off.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the DM role? Thats is my biggest concern for the team right now, above CB or AM. I don`t know why but I get the feeling we wont sign a DM either. I would hazard a guess as BR sees Lucas in that role with Allen as back up? Neither are good enough imo, although Lucas is good just not great. He does the job asked but could do more imo.
7.7 million. Also the window hasn't even opened yet haha. More to come.
ReplyDeleteAdd in his apparent hothead nature, I'm thinking Bellers.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we've agreed a fee for Iago Aspas not sure what this does about any Eriksen deal. Scored 12 through 32 in the La Liga, he plays a second striker. Additionally he scored those 12 in a side that is in the relegation zone that have only scored 36 goals. Accounting for almost a 1/3 of their entire goals.
ReplyDeleteUnknown really, don't know how he will fair but Chelsea were looking at him also.
dragging our heels any club can go and sign players no one else is after lets see who makes the better signings on paper between now and the start of the season it will not be us
ReplyDeleteI really think the genius or madness of these two signings will all be down to who else, or who we don`t sign in the rest of the window.
ReplyDeleteAs squad players both are better than what we got, so in that sense a improvement for the team. This though depends on more players coming in. As first team signings then its shockingly poor. To early for me to tell yet. I`m hoping its squad fillers.
I think FSG wont be signing big money players unless someone is offloaded. By big money I mean above 15mn. Eriksen below 15mn is a no brainer.
ReplyDeleteam hoping there squad fillers but i doubt it
ReplyDeleteChelsea wanted him? Valencia wanted him haha, Jason talk sense will you, we sign players who will be good for our team. We done the deal quickly because he would of been signed by another team.
ReplyDeleteSay we signed Papa in CB too, then to me Toure was a master stroke. Really good back up choice to have. We sign no one else then OMG I will join the dark side with you lol.
ReplyDeleteI currently have faith though.
Completely agree on that. Hendo is getting better by the day. Shelvey is the one I think isnt needed. I do like him purely as I have a soft spot for any of the youth players as its always nice to think we have a legend in the making, so hate to see them leave, but I think we have to many players in some roles right now and out of the current bunch Shelvey and Borini are the weakest links.
ReplyDeleteBellers is spot on from what I`ve seen. He actually plays a little like him too.
ReplyDeleteAspa hijacked this thread Jamie haha
ReplyDeleteCHELSEA are linked to a lot of players the bottom line is they went for someone else. You and others watch a lot of CELTA VIGO matches to know he would do well in our team.I have no idea how well he'd fit in our system.
ReplyDeleteHope that guy Aspas isn't a new Assaidi. If you buy him, please play him !!
ReplyDeleteFor me, as things stand, in list of priority, CB>DM>AM.
ReplyDeleteI guess how many we sign depends on budget.
I agree Lucas needs to do more, especially in this system but for me, CB is just that little bit more of a concern. Apart from the problems the centre backs have had this season, I think we will see two more CBs leaving, or at least one in Coates. Currently, one is new (Toure) and there are big question marks over the rest of CBs (even including the young CBs as they are somewhat unknown as to how good they are in this system), possibly even bigger than the question marks on Lucas (maybe not in Agger's case, as I still hold out hope in him). But then again, the two areas (CB & DM) in the team are linked, in terms of effectiveness, and both haven't been doing great, so it isn't easy one to choose. That Greek defender from Schalke can play apparently play in the holding role but not sure how good he is in there.
I think Rodgers won't touch the DM area either, in terms of DM signings.
Watching Iago aspas on youtube headbutting a defender....him and suarez upfront...beware defenders ....hahhaha...!!! Besides 8mn for nobody and no Money for Eriksen??..
ReplyDeleteIago aspas release clause would have been 6mn if celta relegates. ?.but liverpool willing to pay more to see off the competition....very unlike fsg! Paying 1.7mn more instead of waiting a week more...
On other hand ..BORINI will have lesser chances now :-/
He can either play upfront on his own with a player behind him. Or on the wing, he is flexible in his position so it's a bonus for us, for 7.7 can't go wrong,
ReplyDeleteI think for that we would need to sign bigger names tbh. Thats if Suarez desicion is based on who we sign at all.
ReplyDeleteLets be realistic here. There is a high chance Any of Real, Munich, Barca etc, bidding for him. Other than Gerrard I can`t see any of our players turning down any of them if they came knocking. There the current elite teams in the world.
If we had paid the same as Spurs we would be adding him to the list of summer flops right now. I don't know how everyone is so excited about what AVB has done at Spurs. He's dropped one position from Redknapp and it's a worse team than before. The only decent transfers so far from him are Vertonghen and Holtby and Vertonghen was already a target before AVB took over.
ReplyDeleteSee I think Skrtel was only dropped as Carra said he was retiring and BR felt he needed to give Carra a run of games to end his days with us. Then Again I`ve never rated Skrtel that highly, but if my thoughts are correct it could be possible he will stay if BR has told him he will get games. Personally I think he is a risk every time he plays, esp in a higher line at the back and would rather see someone else come in.
ReplyDeleteIf Skrtel does go then I would agree CB is first port of call. If he stays though and just Coates goes then I don`t think its as major, purely as Coates wasn`t really near the first team anyway, so not needed to replace as much, esp with Kelly and Wisedom to fill Coates place as a back up.
I`m guessing its all a numbers game right now for us, so getting a new CB will largely depend on if Skrtel goes. I`m always a little nervey with to many changes at the back in one go, but as I`m thinking Agger will still be top dog, it will still only be one new player on the pitch at the back per game. Be that either Toure or another new CB, so maybe not so bad.
My reasons for wanting the DM role filled are purely based on the fact w can be a bit weak in midfield now. Other teams seem to cut through us easy against the run of play and then score on there first chance. I think last season the mid didn`t cover that enough.
Rumour is we paid 6.6mil not 8mil.
ReplyDeleteseriously talented with serious potential, but the world knows it. i think he will have a number of CL playing clubs after him, along with the CL finalists, consequently i think this player will be beyond our reach. IMO it will be a summer of trying to unearth players who are under-valued by their clubs and under-rated by others, ie. Couthino. exactly how many players there are out there that fit this model is anyones guess. it seems Iago Aspas will be the first attempt. if we can land a high profile talent like erikson i will be very impressed and very very pleased.
ReplyDeleteSo basically what Borini was supposed to be :-)
ReplyDeleteI read 7.7mn
ReplyDeleteOld bellers sounds a good shout. Looks the same height and build. Perhaps a bit of paulo dicanio with his aggression and skill?
ReplyDeleteJust seen a tweet from Didi Haman about Suarez quotes.... does anyone know what this is about?
ReplyDeleteDid Coutinho get you excited?
ReplyDeleteSuarez has said on Uruguayen radio that he would be happy to go to Real if they came in for him.. That he is sick of the English media etc
ReplyDeleteI suppose we'd be on their backs for over paying for players too (Downing, Carroll, Hendo). Coutinho and Sturridge have been a revelation though. Maybe the scouts have their act together. A sensible happy medium would be nice now with regard to transfers...and Eriksen on the team sheet.
ReplyDeletethanks. if the price is right, off with ya...
ReplyDeleteAlways saying something worrying whenever he goes back to Uruguay!
ReplyDeleteI think its a bit of weak excuse, his moaning about the media as he has brought on quite a bit of himself but he is a player that is good enough for big clubs in CL, so for that reason, I wouldn't begrudge him a move to Real.
As much as I really like Suarez, I also really dislike moaners. If he wants to go, we will definitely replace him. We are LFC!
ReplyDeleteDid not have a chance to watch any match involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan, only a compilation clip in youtube. The boy looks impressive in the video. Do you think LFC is keen to get him?
ReplyDeleteHow wrong were they huh? Thing is, Eriksen or no Eriksen, if we've learned anything from the signings of Sturridge and Coutinho, it is that you don't need to sign the next best thing or 50 million pound players to get top class players in your squad. Believe you me, I was one of biggest doubters of the Sturridge signing but I can't say anything else than that I was very very wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like we are going to sign quite a number of new players this season. So can I assume young players like Suso, Samed Yesil and Raheem Sterling will get even lesser chance to play in the coming season? I really like to see more of the youngsters LFC is having now.
ReplyDeletewhat about thiago from barca? the guy has class and is being pushed out the door, he fits the bill too. plays the same sytem, he is young with tons of potential. has made an impact in games for barca in big games. adjustment could be the killer but just on the physical side which if signed early can be pushed to adapt rather quickly in training. from my understanding he is going from 7-14. so he could be cheaper then eriksen, with the same potential (imo) but has also been tested more(on a day to day basis, it takes a lot just to make barca bench.)
ReplyDeleteThe journos (such as the reputable Barca-based Graham Hunter) are saying Barca will only accept his current release clause (18m euros) and that Man United seem to be the main interested party. Not just because of price and big CL clubs will surely be in for him, I think he will be harder to get then Eriksen, as Eriksen has only a year left on his contract. I think Thiago is class too but we haven't got a chance, me thinks.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why the press seem to think he's only worth £30 mill, I don't think people realise we paid 23 mill. He's 60 mill all day long. We must replace him with a world class forward tho... If he goes, I hope he stays.
ReplyDeleterumors is moyes wants cesc fabergas. didn't know it was 18 though. still think it is a better deal. he stands out when he plays, granted I don't watch a ton of Spanish league. however I do watch Ajax have for 15yrs, and while eriksen is good to me it isnt outstanding, don't get me wrong I think he would be a good signing but I think thaigo has that something special that game changer/dominator ability,
ReplyDeleteCheers man. That guy rocks his socks pretty high
ReplyDeleteI think the main problem is Funds. There is a budget which includes selling Carroll. And also i beleive defence and wingers was first on there list . With Eriksen the real Question is does Ian Ayre think he is worth he is worth 20mil. (dempsey) case all over again I dont believe he is worth 20mil. Clubs are not running to sign him aswell. Lots i dont agree with FSG or Rodgers But the signing of Sturridge and couthino great work so gives us hope. I would love us to sign the greek boy Eriksen at fair price and 20m for lukaku. thats the three . We are signing players like a promoted club first time in the epl . the days are gone we are in the market for Damiao fellaini beteke. We sign Toure and some guy Aspa have to face it we are not attractive anymorethe $$$$$ not there so we play games
ReplyDeleteI really don`t know. There was some links to him a week or so ago. I would hope they are as he is a great fit.
ReplyDeleteI've been saying for weeks now its Andy Carroll fucking this up for us or he would have been signed already
ReplyDeleteForget about any offers for anyone we are considering bidding for until we have at the very least made a genuine attempt to sign this guy!
ReplyDeleteThe videos he's watched on Youtube must not have pleased him. FSG have lots of money and are good business men, how they deal with transfers for a 28year old player that had one good season are not the same as a player who is 21 and very promising, For years his name has been echoed around coming to Liverpool
ReplyDeleteOnly a 7m profit from a player we've turned from very good into a world class superstar. The media seem to set transfer value suspiciously low whenever REAL MADRID or BARCELONA are involved.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to think of a replacement of equal quality that we could realistically go for if he leaves but I'm stumped.
I think fans need to put it into a proper perspective. He has made some mistakes but you do need to put yourself in his situation as it is right now. Imagine that every article in the papers about you is critical in some way. Imagine your young wife walking down the street with your daughter and having locals have a go. No matter where you look someone is talking about you, having a crack, and it's rarely positive. It actually doesn't matter that it's mostly his own doing, the reality is that it's a shite position to be in. Sure, he can accept responsibility and admit fault but in the end it doesn't make a difference. The past is past, there is nothing to be done about that. He has a choice to stay in a country that seems to love to hate him, or he can play for an equally big football team in a city that will probably treat him much better.
ReplyDeleteIt's true what he says, people talk about the way he looks as something significant. They don't like the expression on his face, they make fun of his appearance. Eventually that kind of thing would get to anyone. Is there really anything else he can do except leave to get away from it?
JASE, you're not alone. These two signings are about as exciting as jumping off a bridge with no bungee equipment.
ReplyDeleteI want us to start signing players that are worthy of representing our football club.Big clubs sign star players.
Standards have slipped so much we sign a player like ASPAS and people talk about him like he's a world beater!
The attention was dying down before the bite incident and he was getting plaudits for his form. He wasn't getting hated in this country then was he. What did he go and do afterwards? act like a animal again and bit Ivanovic. So of course it bloody matters that it is of his own doing, as it wouldn't have happened if he didn't act like a chump. All this dramatic woe-is-me stuff about he (and allegedly his family) gets treated isn't enough for me to think it is just and fair for him to use it as a excuse to enable a platform to leave. I think it is weak, pathetic and a ruse of an excuse and so too views that agree with it, with all due respect. He isn't the first and he isn't the last to go through bad media attention, yet some of those have got on with it and got through it such as Ashley Cole, Beckham, Ronaldo, etc. I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree, as I simply do not agree with your defense of him. If he wants to go play for a bigger club that are in CL, have a better team and get paid more, I can understand that, understand that totally for those reasons but don't hide it, Luis, behind another so-called reason that is full of cringe-worthy woe-is-me waffle. I find it laughable the importance you have put on so-called hurt from getting attention about his looks, its not as if he is alone in getting that sort of common mean humour that public figures get. Run of the bloody mill. There is the running Phil Jones-face joke yet you don't see him crying about it. Found that a bit embarassing and weak that part, with all due respect, as if he can't deal with that as a public figure, than he is in the wrong profession. Agree to disagree with your whole post.
ReplyDeleteDowning and Borini out yes please.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm trying to defend or excuse Suarez, I'm just saying that for him the move makes sense. Put yourself in a similar situation ... imagine you say something that you know wasn't true, you just blurted something out one day by accident and it pissed off a lot of people. You instantly knew it was stupid and a big mistake, but you couldn't take it back. What is said is said. Now a large portion of people in your local neighbourhood are angry at you. You walk down the street and get death stares, abuse and threats. They won't let it go. People even come right up to you and threaten to have a go at you. This goes on for weeks, month, there is nothing you can do about it.
ReplyDeleteOne day you get a really good job offer in another city. It's a good job, just as good as the one you've got, maybe the pay is a bit better. You have the chance to move out of your current neighbourhood. Would you take it? Or would you stay around because ... you feel as if deserve this abuse? Would you stay in the same place just because you think it's your duty, or some kind of karma? Sure, you made a mistake, but what's the point in hanging around a place where people just don't like you?
When it comes to personal decisions like that, once the mistake is made, once the incident is long gone, it doesn't matter what it was, all that matters is what your life is like. I just don't understand why people think Luis HAS to stay here. What does he owe anyone? What law says if you do something stupid you have to face the consequences forever? Who says you just can't walk away from a difficult situation?
I don't condone or defend what he did, but you have to realistic. If his life in Liverpool is a bit rubbish and life in Madrid would be better, what kind of idiot would he be to stay here out of some sense of misguided loyalty? Why is it important? Does he owe something to the universe? Does he have to take his punishment? It's just not logical. Sure, we have to face the consequence of what we've done but for him that means serving a ban and taking a fine. He gets a bit of stick from the press and then everyone moves on. But if the abuse hangs around and his life is miserable because of it ... I just don't see the point.
Since the last year or so he has been on a bit of a downward spiral. I hope he signs for us but not for a penny more than 10 million, his current form, ability and contract situation doesn't warrant anything more than that
ReplyDeletewelcome to the dark side;-)
ReplyDeleteaccording to you every player we sign is wanted by the world how comes most of them are rubbish
ReplyDeletehe does when he plays but lets see how he does next season he could go on to be class but lets face it if he carrys on playing like he his he will not be at anfield for long
ReplyDeletei agree but you have to be realistic with your offer
ReplyDeleteagree m8 the ammount of stick i,am getting over it you would have thought we had signed messi ,it seems any signings are good signings ,imo we only need about 4 decent players to challenge for the top but they do not come cheap and the 2 players we have signed are not them
ReplyDeleteI suspect this would only be a reality if Suarez is sold. Coutinho has shown glimpses of being able to be that attacking talisman so he could really take over the free role that Suarez often employs.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom line though is financial reality, after Skrtel underwhelmed this past season and Carragher retired, we have to focus on the back line being strengthened.
We do not have unlimited funds and I am sure monies will have to be generated/held back for the redevelopment of Anfield, this will necessitate wheeling and dealing and at this point, Eriksen is more of a luxury than a necessity.
ASAP, please prove to us you mostly loyal fans that you will atleast fight for this player. Non da less still behind lfc till I die. YNWA!!!!
ReplyDeleteAgree man
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell are our owners doing...stop running the club like a buisness and make the fans happy!!!! Sign this kid up now!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm stating facts, most of them are rubbish? Like,:-)
ReplyDeleteat last something i agree with you on;-)
ReplyDeleteIt was a question, hence why I put a question mark.
ReplyDeleteHow can you make facts up? Haha your comments are strange :-)
ReplyDeleteyou should stop listening to The Smiths
ReplyDeleteits funny considering the club was willing to pay 15 Million pounds for Allen a year ago
ReplyDeleteall the papers today are saying 7.7mil to 8mil so looks like you were right
ReplyDeletehaha. oddly a bit up on here i posted about the new signings and how the team is shaping up, and how i just hope we dont sell suarez. its looking like i spoke too soon now lol.
