Done Deal: LFC star agrees £40m 4-year transfer to Real Madrid. Good or bad...?

Speculation over the future of Liverpool star Luis Suarez has reached fever pitch this week, and last night, the Uruguayan admitted he would find it 'difficult' to reject a transfer to Real Madrid. Well, according to reports in Spain, Suarez's move to real Madrid is now a 'done deal'.

Earlier today, someone reputed to be be Suarez's Agent claimed that he is 'happy at LFC' and is not considering leaving this summer, but in the last hour, Spanish newspaper MARCA reports that:

* Suarez has agreed a four-year contract with Real Madrid.

* "The deal is nothing new. It was reached some weeks ago. On one hand, there were the player's agents led by Pere Guardiola, Pep's brother and on the other, Florentino Pérez's envoys in these matters, the Money men. It's a done deal".

* Suarez will receive a 'significant pay-rise' as part of the transfer.

* The transfer fee will most likely be £40m, which is Suarez's contractual buyout clause.

Marca is heavily biased in favour of Real Madrid, and its journalists have excellent contacts at the club, so I have no doubt that the story is true.

Marca claims that the deal has been struck between Suarez and Real, with Liverpool not yet involved. If this is true, it surely constitutes a breach of the rules; unless, of course, the Reds gave Suarez permission to enter talks with the Spanish giants.

The story is front-page news in Spain today:

 photo ScreenShot2013-05-30at141506_zps604eb936.png

Translation: "I say yes!" - Agreement between Madrid and the Uruguayan, without LFC. Four year deal. €47m buyout clause.

I'm loathe to say 'I told you so', but...

I told you so!

On a related note, I just have to point out the hilarious irony re the way fans are reacting to this story. Most of the time (in my experience) LFC fans moan about Agents, claiming that they talk rubbish, make stuff up and generally can't be trusted. However, when it comes to Luis Suarez, the rules are magically different: suddenly, Agents are paragons of virtue and truth, and everything they say is unimpeachable. As I said, hilarious.

And or the sake of clarity, let's get one thing clear: It is not ME saying Suarez is leaving, it is MARCA. I am just passing along the information. Capisce...?

BS! As always few weeks? Why did his agent come out today an say he staying? If he did have contact they he would of said he was going to Madrid....

  8. There is now mention of Suarez signing anything on marca.com

    ReplyDelete
  9. What is your problem? Just because it's Suarez I shouldn't report the story?! Get a grip.

  10. Yes, I should just ignore the Suarez transfer saga. Stop clogging the thread with pointless comments; if you have nothing constructive to add, don't post at all.

  11. I think it is the time for FSG and Brendan Rodgers to go home. They are determined to demolish LFC. Black gays ahead of us under them!

  12. cool well to add something meaningful u said no site mentioned his agent right http://metro.co.uk/2013/05/30/luis-suarez-is-happy-and-will-stay-at-liverpool-insists-agent-pere-guardiola-3820797/?

  13. If we sell Luis Suarez less then what Madrid would pay for Bale then FSG should sell the club and go back to play baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Didnt Real want to offer players plus cash i heard Morata and Jese Rodriguez were offered plus 25 mill still he has not left.
Well who will replace him i do not know but am a bit suspicious of this as i would have thought the club would have fought harder to keep him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Didnt his agent say that hes not going anywhere? Or am i mishearing skysports?

    ReplyDelete
  16. You revel in it. I really don't know why you bother.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Never have I been in two minds about a player as much as Suarez, if it is a done deal I will miss his talent and goals but not his idiotic behaviour which brings our great club into disrepute. In the end of the day all players are replaceable Suarez soon made Torres a distant memory. Just get big money and spend it wisely! For every Suarez there is a Carroll so lets get it right. What about Higuain

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes let him go can be replaced no use keeping a player if he is not happy , we should take Higuain or Di - Maria as part of the deal

    ReplyDelete
  19. If lfc have allowed a buy out of less than 60 million someone must be sacked.
    this paricular story is tosh.

  20. I read an article of yours last week Jamie when you complained a fan couldn't read as he hadnt noticed that your title contained quotation marks and was thus reporting something that had been said rather than a fact. The title to this article contains no such quotation marks and this is blatantly deceptive. You are reporting a comment, not a done deal, you even mention that the club hasn't even been involved towards the end which means in that case it's not even close to a done deal. Either be consistent or don't slate those for picking up on your inconsistencies.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Not sure which way this is going, the Independent have gone with the story of Pere Guardiola's interview on Sky Sports News last night which claims Suarez is staying. I never saw the interview myself but I find it unlikely the Independent would run with it if the interview didn't happen. I would guess that is more from the horse's mouth than Marca however, it cannot be ruled out that he will leave this summer as these things tend to change quickly.

On a second note I have also seen a few articles saying there is no 40M clause in LS's contract, but again, who knows. I would be disappointed if he left for any less than 50M myself which would obviously be the case if he has a 40M clause.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Pere Guardiola actually came out after the release of this report and deemed it false.

I'm not saying that it can't be true, but I'm not also going to yet believe it is true because of how quickly it was refuted.

Also, as you say, Marca is heavily biased in favor of RM. Doesn't that mean we should take this story with a grain of salt as opposed to believing it is true, no questions asked.

JK, I know you want Suarez to go and I know you've predicted accordingly. But just because you want him to go, and just because you believe he'll go, doesn't mean that this report is accurate, especially when Marca is such a biased paper towards RM.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well he could have agreed personal terms with them but the transfer fee was obviously made up.he would go for more than that imo

    ReplyDelete
  24. On an unrelated note, who is Iago Aspas that we supposedly signed for about 8m? Anybody know anything about him?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jamie do you think it is right that the two top men at the FA have very strong Manchester utd links ?. will Refs still be cowered.

    ReplyDelete
  26. If he has a buyout clause, then why would Real have to approach LFC before agreeing a deal with the player?

The answer is they don't need to. They simply have to trigger the buyout clause. If it is 40m pounds, then this is a good deal for LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The newspaper report itself states that the transfer is a 'done deal', so it is not 'blatantly deceptive' at all. MARCA is the source for this story, and that is what they stated, and I've passed that on. It's not a quote from a human being, which is why I do not have it in quotes. I only put quotes from people in quotation marks.

Additionally, 'done deal' clearly refers to the deal between SUAREZ and REAL MADRID, and the article makes this clear.

There's no inconsistency, so stop sniping. Any further posts along the same lines will be deleted.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Islesfan - Guardiola has *not* commented on this report. It's only just been published. His comments were in response to Suarez's assertion that it would be 'difficult to turn down Real Madrid'.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Is this the same paper that said Reina had signed? I don't believe it. For now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Trouble with Marca is they publish things that are not true to stir things up, as directed by Real Madrid. A way of tapping up!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Definitely not. It's a scandal, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there's an impact on refereeing.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Not sure if it is that simple but who knows, I certainly don't know what goes on with these things.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Marca could easily be BS-ing, just like agents could easi

    ReplyDelete
  34. If story is true or not true suarez should come out and say yes im happy no im not happy simple. If suarez was real player would they sell him for 40 mil no . bale is 60 mil suarez higher then. 99% of us love suarez dont agree with what he does but we stand buy him. If suarez wants to go ? GO then we are linked to lukaku if that story is true 100% of us wouldnt care less is suarez goes.sturridge Couthno lukaku WoW what a future . All we want is star signings like the last three . FSG and rodgers are not to blame if true . he is in that confederation cup and everyone is talking shit to him .

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, we'll according to his agent he's happy at LFC and not going anywhere this summer. All depends on what source you listen to and a bit premature of you to say its a done deal and "I told you so". You should put more thought and time into things rather than posting in the heat of the moment. Just like the Huntelaat article you posted last summer. £40m is the amount he's agreed to start negotiating at, I hardly doubt, and many prominent journalists also back this idea, that Liverpool would settle at 40. It's just the basis to start negotiating. It isnt even close to a done deal, go look at his agents comments.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do you actually ever have a different view from Jaimie's ?

    ReplyDelete
  37. If he goes then we get 40 million. If he stays then great. Either way it will benefit the club. We are bigger than 1 player. Just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Do you know what a buy out clause is ?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I really love this. Fans are always moaning about how Agents talk crap, and how they make stuff up etc. However, when it comes to Suarez, Agents are suddenly paragons of the truth and fans believe everything they say absolutely. It really is hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  40. remember folks "ITS SILLY SEASON"..and jamie k is just being the silliest...

    ReplyDelete
  41. something doesnt add up. why would the agent seemingly say hes happy to stay when the deal has been done? He didnt need to say anything and will look silly if this is true. unless he was just totally lying.. in which case now everyone knows. Also surely the deal with liverpool has to be done first before they can speak?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah, i believe it's a violation to contact a player without permission from the club... But if Suarez really has a buy-out clause of 40M, then that's ridiculously low for a player of his calibre...

    "I informed you thusly."

    ReplyDelete
  43. Aha... I see that now. My mistake.

I still stand by the other points I made, but as it relates to the agent, you're correct, he didn't directly address this report. He generally addressed the situation overall.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think a club can give permission to another to speak to their player, without having the need to agreeing to a transfer deal or meeting a transfer clause.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, it may seem a win-win situation... But we have to be careful... We don't know yet who will be coming in...

If Suarez is staying, there will be no big name striker to add... But if he goes, then i think there's a possibility... I hope the one who comes in will be able to fill his shoes...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Just as badly as you want Suarez to go, others want him to stay.

    It's quite simple

    ReplyDelete
  47. It really is hilarious how you thought we'd sign huntelaar, didn't happen. You think we have a chance at Jovetic, not gonna happen. You put emotion before thought. And a personal attack? You're a blogger, show some maturity. I didn't say his word is God, but this Marca article seems suspicious. As you pointed out you have to have a clubs permission to speak to a player.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Agreed, but I don't deny the obvious just because the info being presented doesn't match my expectation.

    ReplyDelete
  49. In theory you're right.

In practicality, it's not going to work that way, in large part due to the Suarez's reputation. Bale is seen as a "squeaky-clean" player who dives on occasion. Suarez is seen as a cheat by those who don't like him.

As a result, Suarez's value goes down whereas Bale's value is unaffected.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree. Just because someone wants or doesn't want something badly enough doesn't mean that logic no longer exists.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Reading the stories here and the comments especially really makes my day :)

I feel you are doing a great job jaimie... And i agree about the way you feel for Suarez... And if the recent quotes from him are true, then i feel he should be kicked out... Kenny and BR made themselves and the club look silly by protecting him... He should be grateful to say the least...

Anyway, i hope the new arrivals like aspas and luis alberto prove to be bargains of the season :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Unfortunately I think Suarez has affected his valuation because of his suspensions. Missing 20 games over 2.5 seasons is a hell of a lot and that will come into it when clubs are negotiating.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I didn't say I wanted Suarez to stay, I'm just presenting you with insight you overlook. Because for as much as some people cling for him to stay, you're so desperate to see him go that you overlook the more liable truths.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Stop talking shit you muppet, he aint going anywhere!

    ReplyDelete
  55. That's fair enough. We both have a different view on Suarez. I haven't overlooked his agent's alleged comments, but history proves that Agent comments in relation to players staying have no real value. You're desperate for Suarez to stay, so you believe his agent's comments absolutely, and that's fine. I choose to read between the lines.

    ReplyDelete
  56. If he does go who do we want? Edinson Cavani, yes please

    ReplyDelete
  57. considering how we have played without him at the end of the season, i think i would rather him go. We will do well as a team, not as a group of individuals and i think Luis makes us play as a group of individuals who all just pass the ball to him.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Mike Aitcheson2:53 pm, May 30, 2013

But according to Marca, the deal was already done.
So you are saying that Guardiola is lying about Suarez having no intention to leave? He has already negotiated the deal, and moved to deny it for PR purposes.
Marca have been wrong before with these front page headlines have they not? But you have 'No doubt'

    ReplyDelete
  59. Mike Aitcheson2:54 pm, May 30, 2013

There are vid links on the other thread

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm not desperate for him to stay, you're reading between the lines again, I'm just putting forth insight that James Pearce & Guilleme Balague have offered. Sources that are more reliable than Marca.

    ReplyDelete
  61. A great job how exactly?
By writing misleading articles and having a generally negative view about the club? Liverpool don't need fans with his attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Absolutely delighted. Im such a fan of his ability but I could see this coming a mile away. I was in the pub watching the Chelsea game and when he took a nibble like he did at Ajax I said that was his cue to go. 3 years from now he'll do something else to get out of the club. Im not a fan of Luis Suarez the sportsman, and by sportsman I mean his gamesmanship, his inability to show any remorse for wrong doing and his slyness in tackles. I love his skills and will be sad to see him go but our club deserves a better person to fill his shoes. Onwards and upwards. Great bit about the agents there. Cracked me up. Who do we get now with all that dough??

    ReplyDelete
  63. JK you are one sick man who's so obsess with LS going,as a matter of fact i think you just can't w8 for him to leave. It makes you so so naive to responded to what the BS british paper said. You're one poor sick man.

fact is football biz is cruelty and for those still living in playing fantasy football should wake up....

finally the cannibal is heading out and that money should be enuf for us use for this season.....

ps : for some ppl been insulting me about i comment LS is living (way back then) now u guys should think twice to said anything coz u only sorry to yourself

    ReplyDelete
  65. Why are they more reliable sources than MARCA? Balague writes or AS, another Spanish newspaper, so if the report originated there, would you give it more significance?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Mike Aitcheson2:56 pm, May 30, 2013

The same goes for your unshakable belief in Marca

    ReplyDelete
  67. Mike Aitcheson2:57 pm, May 30, 2013

Liverpool have not said that they have given any such permission. Any such approach would land them in trouble

    ReplyDelete
  68. Is it just money or are they sending any players our way? I read, probably a
dubious report, that Real was going to send Jese Rodriguez plus cash. Part of me hates this because he is effective up front when he has a cool head but all the baggage has gotten a bit tiring. Still, I'm not confident in our abilities without him right now. Sure we did ok at the end of the season but it's not like we played top quality teams. I hope, if this is actually true, we reinvest the money wisely.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Balague seemingly knows the latest transfer news of Liverpool, reporting the Aspas deal before its done and Pearce has covered LFC for quite awhile. Not hard to see the links between them and the club. Whatever though, I'm not going to argue with you as you're too set in your mindset to see reason.

    ReplyDelete
  70. All this is he or isnt he going is getting tiresome, maybe it's time to let him go now, to much focus is put on his antics rather than his footballing ability. If he farted the whole world would know about it and it would be the worst fart ever in history as he's now a marked man, so for his sake and our own it would probably be in the best interest of both parties to let him move on but only if the money is put back into the club. I love Suarez he is an incredible player but the realist in me knows he will always be public enemy number one with the press due to his past history and it is not good for the club or his own state of mind for him to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Not really. If Suarez hadn't made his Real Madrid comments last night, I would not have posted this story. Context is all, and in this situation, the Marca story makes sense.

Suarez is linked with moves away all the time. In the last week, he's been linked with Barca; Madrid; plus, there's his comments from last night, and his Agent's alleged response. I didn't post a specific story about any of that. I could've, but it just didn't interest me that much.

Suarez's comments PLUS the Marca story interests me, which is why I've posted the article.

    ReplyDelete
  72. They don't have to make it public (unless we were a PLC maybe)? Or do they?

Most likely Real have tapped him up but doubt they will get in any trouble for it, as it seems to be a common thing (according to journos anyway) that doesn't often get punished.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well, if it is true, footballers do come and go. Football has become much like the corporate world. Loyalty if any, is rare commodity. With time, loyal players like Stevie G and Carra will be much harder to find. Clubs and managers no longer have the luxury to really build a concept team without using cash as boosters.

Whether Suarez stay or go, it will be good for LFC. The most he'll stick around will be another season or two regardless of LFC qualifying for Europe.

I would really like to see this footballing genius stay, yet, I don't know if his enigmatic or Dr.Jekyll/Mr. Hyde character on the field would do LFC any favour, if he were to keep on getting suspensions. For me, the biting incidence was the last straw. Forget about the media, he let us, the fans down.

LFC with FSG at the helm may no longer be able to compete with the new big four, who among them are willing to spend up to 80 mil or more on a single player. I may not live to see the day LFC doing the same unless another wealthy Sheik comes along to buy LFC.

A club IMO, may breach the top four, yet to stay, money needs to be spent unless everyone play along with the financial fair play rules.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well, if this is true, then hopefully we don't make the same mistake we did when we sold our most valuable asset the last time. No more Andy Carrolls please. And no Aquilani. If we spend the possible income wisely, this might be a blessing in disguise. Anyway, on the face of it, it can't be too good a thing, when our best player leaves.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm too set in *my* mindset? Ha! The irony. I've merely passed on the info; I haven't written some lengthy diatribe against Suarez. Additionally, there's more evidence to suggest the Suarez deal will happen than the alleged Aspas transfer.

    ReplyDelete
  76. "But GUARDIOLA came out and said he's staying" Whatever! Agents are about as trustworthy as politicians. If i was a agent i'd probably feed the fans the same garbage.
We should start throwing some names around for potential replacements rather than holding onto the words of a agent who will get a small fortune if SUAREZ does make the move to REAL MADRID!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Agents exaggerate the truth/lie all the time (apparently). Why is it so hard to accept that Guardiola would massage the truth in this situation?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Did you really read the article? I doubt that, because there is no such article in Marca today. Today's paper only has some quotes from the interview where Suarez told "it would be difficult to say no to Madrid". Nothing about "done deal"...

    ReplyDelete
  79. That is funny. If club who wants to buy Luis Suarez points out that ban thing then Liverpool should laugh off. Remember we don't want to sell him and so if anyone wants him should pay premium. We are not in the market to look for buyers so thats an advantage to use.

    ReplyDelete
  80. So any club who wants him will just state that he is bad so we will pay less? Why buy at all then? He scored 30 goals despite the ban. Liverpool must ask anyone who is interested to Buy him for 55mn or go get someone else. Simple.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well yes you should do your job properly & also report along side the likes of this rubbish that the Real Madrid president has came out today & said he likes him but players don't always fit add too this Suarez agent also coming out to say on Suarez behalf he is happy here and isn't looking to move this summer.

Good proper journalism would be to report on all aspects of rumours like this, giving readers the whole insight into whats going on & a wider view instead of just one angle to the story by copying what someone else has already written.

Just poor lazy work from people like yourself in my opinion, copy paste type material very lazy needs no skills at all in journalism. Anyone can go look at one story copy & paste it add some of their own words to it. Correct me if I'm wrong but is people involved in the media not meant to properly investigate things & provide their readers with all the evidence available at that time? Or is that to hard for you?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Do you think Suarez hasn't affected his valuation because of his suspensions? Every club that wants to buy him will bring that up to try and knock the price down.

The rest of Europe does not do it the British way. The managers essentially have no say who the club decides to buy. The club buys or not and the manager just makes do. By kicking up a fuss about it, Rafa got himself fired from Valencia and Inter.

    ReplyDelete
  87. whatever, we should accept it, i mean those who still back suarez and trust Suarez agent. its obvious he wants the move, he wants champions league action, fa wants him out, he speaks spanish, hes playing in one of the best teams on the entire world, callenging for titles... there so many factors for him to go to real... im just a little bit mad its just 40m, didnt know about the clause, dont understand why there was a clause in his contract. should have been about 100m clause ;) then we could have sold him for about 50m+ ...
At all im not that sad, i knew he will go, i knew it will be real... whatever lets take the positive facts!!! suarez damaged our image, and thats a bad bad thing... There were so many scandals... IMO the 10 match ban made is clear he will leave, the fa got what they want, with 40m we have a lot of money to spend! lets just hope we use it whisely, no Joe Coles no Carroll´s no Aquilanis etc!

    ReplyDelete
  88. No, the article I posted was not based on Balague's assertion; the source is Spanish newspaper 'Sport'.

I'm not wasting my time any more with your sniping posts. Any further along the same lines will be deleted. Stick to discussing the issues at hand, not me.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Do you know its for real? There are mixed reports. Besides if I was FSG representative renewing Suarez contract last year I wouldn't have put such a ridiculous buyout clause...!!! 17.5mn profit on Suarez, thats it? 17.5mn excluding all the fines LFC incurred due to Suarez. Bad bad business.

  92. How many times have MARCA been accused of being 'a vehicle to unsettle players" on behalf of Real Madrid'. They run stories which can help Real Madrid and have claimed deals are done before only for this to turn out to untrue. I am not saying it the case in this instance but deciding to believe Marca on this occasion when they have been known to be publish untrue stories in the past is just as laughable as believing agents.

In other words, this is a non story until Liverpool or Madrid announce something. An the i told you so's would be better left until that moment.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Its basic economics for me and football might not work the same way I agree. If I don't want to sell my car and if someone rich wants it any cost, simply compensate me by paying market value plus premium.

    ReplyDelete
  94. If Suaréz has a buy-out clause in his contract, as it has been reported, there is nothing the club can do should the specific fee be met. Now, maybe that is the problem. Real want (or can't) spend that much (Suaréz + Bale) and offer players in exchange. This we might well reject. And this may or may not be the reason why Suaréz is still with us.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Higuain or Di Maria. Good idea!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Real are not the only Spanish club who use the media to tap up players.

    ReplyDelete
  97. If he is sold for £40 million, I think we should test Bayern with a £25 million bid for Gomez. Worst they can do is say no. He isn't playing much for them, so he might be open to it.
    Or a bid Leandro Damaio.

  99. Yeah, he is an interesting option... We could splash some 15 - 20 M on him, with more than half of Suarez fee left...

    ReplyDelete
  100. Still they would have to make the offer, to the club. When Torres handed in a transfer request, the club's official site reported it immediately. Why wouldn't they report that the buy-out fee for Suaréz was met by a club?

    ReplyDelete
  101. And Napoli soon.

    ReplyDelete
  102. And why wouldn't Marca massage the truth? This is Marca's front page which means it came out this morning and which means it was written during the night. Which means his agent's comments are more recent

    ReplyDelete
  103. Regardless of whether it's reasonable or not, if you want to by anything, whether it's a new car, a television, a book, or in this case a player, if there is a negotiation aspect to it, you're going to try to find reasons to lower the price.

In this case, they'll say that because Suarez has been in trouble in the past, he's worth less than if he wasn't in trouble.

I'm not saying that it will work or won't work. I'm just saying that it can be used against Suarez, but can't be used against Bale.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I wouldn't consider something printed in a paper as "obvious".

    ReplyDelete
  105. agreed, lets try to get the Cazorlas and Michus out there!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'm referring to Suarez's comments about turning down Madrid, not the Marca story.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Where's the other thread? Haven't seen it. You have a link to the thread?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Balague has a history of getting it wrong, just like every other journo. I don't know why this guy is so "high-profile".

    ReplyDelete
  109. This is where I think some fans might be a bit naive. Just because the club are saying they don't want to sell him, doesn't necessarily mean that it is true. They know he is a fan favourite so it would be normal for the club to make those type of statements. If you look at the statement BR gave a few days ago about every player having his price, that to me was an invitation for offers so I personally believe that the club do want to sell him and if that is the case, his suspensions will have an affect on his value. Missing half a season over a 2.5 year period is something buying clubs are going to latch on to and rightly so. We would do the same ourselves I am sure if it was the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I can see why the pro-Rafa mob like him.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Tony Barratt was interviewed on City Talk this morning. He said the buyout clause is definitely in place and is in the region of £40m!

    ReplyDelete
  112. this deal is terible if the amount aforementioned is true ..... suarez is definetly better than bale has scored more is on a longer contract than bale and yet only 40 absolute rubbish we sold an out of form torres for 50m for the love of god ! this is a rip off........

    ReplyDelete
  113. Negotiations can be done if buyer is willing to buy and seller is willing to sell. In case of Suarez, Liverpool shouldn't negotiate but simply put the take it or leave price tag as we are not willing to sell.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Problem with Gomez though is that his link up play is pretty average and he doesn't really work hard for the team but he is a brilliant finisher. Don't think he would suit BRs philosophy.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Its a completely different case if we want to sell. I agree. But you can't say fans are naive who believe club won't sell Suarez. If Liverpool says something to fans and does the opposite back doors then I will feel betrayed by the club more then the player.

    ReplyDelete
  116. your obsession with suarez is stalker-esque

    ReplyDelete
  117. Similar to Gerald's view is my view. I don't think that type of orthodox simple front man is Rodgers' cup of tea. I think it is also one of the reasons why they sometimes use Mandzukic, as he links up, hustles and combines with others better. Don't get me wrong, give him service, Gomez will put them away with aplomb but in our system, the front man I think needs to be more involved and do more work on & off the ball than he does.

    ReplyDelete
  118. The funny thing is you always argue "why would agents lie?" When it suits your points, that's exactly what you find so funny now. Lets face it, any source that reaffirms your beliefs you believe in. Like most people

    ReplyDelete
  119. IMO if he has decided he wants out i wouldnt mind 25m and Morata and Jese Rodriguez.
i dont think thats a bad deal (IF HE WANTS TO LEAVE)

    ReplyDelete
  120. Oh, I see. Well, I have not seen, read or heard that particular interview either, and it probably was in Spanish, too. Why would someone believe something like that, unless he/she hasn't heard the interview him/herself. If a player, probably almost any player, was asked by a journalist whether he would like to play for Real/Barcelona, the player would answer that, if the chance arose, they would find it hard to turn it down. I don't know, but you may well have better sources than me.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I can see that, too, indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Suarez only has one full season of good form in one of the top 4 leagues (PL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A), so I think in a way we are fortunate that his reputation is so high.

I agree with you publishing it- how could you not?
I agree Suarez may well be on his way.
Marca are alone in this story for now. With no corroborating evidence bar the Suarez interview, I am not convinced that Marca have it right. Not to say Real won't get him, but on balance not convinced that it's all done and dusted

    ReplyDelete
  125. Good riddance. He's a ho.

    ReplyDelete
  126. the fans on here who are saying if he goes we want this player and that are in for a shock we will get nobody of note and if he leaves for 40 million its time for fsg to pack there bags as well torres and now suarez we are a selling club to make them money yanks out

    ReplyDelete
  127. I wish I was as trusting as you are. It is a bit like politics. Tell the people what they want to hear but it may not necessarily be true. A lot of fans were insisting that he would not be sold even if we got an offer of 40m and that is naive in my eyes as I believe the club were always going to sell at that price after the amount of controversy that has been caused. I don't think it is from BR but from the owners.

    ReplyDelete
  128. lol i know who i would rather lose suarez or your support do one

    ReplyDelete
  129. we are selling to spanish not to english .......why should they bother about english misdemeanors .......for that same matter aspas is no angel but is the english media making a big hullaboo over him no ?

    ReplyDelete
  130. You tell him Jaime. A lot of people are clearly upset that Suarez might leave but this is a case of history repeating itself. We got Suarez while he was serving suspension for i think biting on a player. I think players might taste better in La Liga. I hate to see him go because his goals were massive but if he doesn't want to stay and i don't believe he does then he should leave.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  133. Hooray!!! Once again Liverpool upon starting to built-up a good squad capable of fighting fr CHAMPION especially in the Strikers department, will have to start over again .........its been 10yrs hope we dont take another 10 to have a killer pair upfront as we used to......YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  134. There's nothing shocking or anything abnormal about LS leaving LFC for Real Madrid. Players come and go, that's perfectly fine. Also, we cannot offer Champion's League football and Real Madrid is a much richer club. So it's understandable. The only problem is that the release clause of 40 mil pounds is a too low, 60 mil pounds will sound much better.

If this is a done deal, then our main concern is to spend the money wisely on players as replacement. Let's hope the whatsoever 'committee' has good contingency plan and not throw all the money onto 1 or 2 unproven players and hope they will come good. Sorry to mention, LFC paid 35 mil pounds for an unproven AC, laughing stock of the highest order in the entire history of football.

    ReplyDelete
  135. BR will never have a say me thinks. FSG has an upper hand on the transfers. Just my opinion

    ReplyDelete
  136. i voted bad, as at the min if he does go, it is bad as we have lost our best and most prolific striker, however if we go and spend wisely and bring in another great striker and some other good players then that bad will turn into good, but it really depends on who BR buys, i do not want a repeat of last summer transfers, if he repeats January type players then definitely good!!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Your right, we are selling to Spanish, thanks for reminding me. Because if we were selling to a PL club, we'd get more money (assuming no release clause) as buying from another PL club adds to the price.

They probably do not care about his misdemeanors here but they can use it as a small negative spin to argue that Suarez is desperate to leave and needs to leave, which can maybe (emphasis on maybe) have a impact on LFC's stance at the negotiation table. Hence one of the reasons why I am suspicious about Suarez's motivation behind his comments yesterday regarding the media.

Aspas? The man has cost peanuts and the worse he seems to have done is headbutt, which isn't exactly rare like a bite. If he cost a lot of money, if was more high profile or did some crazy like biting someone or racially abusing someone he'd be getting more negative attention.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Stevie G is gonna be pi**ed off. He loved that boy

    ReplyDelete
  139. a headbutt cost zidane his wc :)

    ReplyDelete
  140. nd the reason i mentioned aspas was media loves us thanks to suarez and now that we have a headbutter one would think it would red alert for them but instead looooow key

    ReplyDelete
  141. Like I implied, your use of Aspas in that context, I don't agree with it and is weak.

    ReplyDelete
  142. i just hope we play hardball and extract 5 mill more lol

    ReplyDelete
  143. I hope so too! I'd be surprised if we get over £50m

    ReplyDelete
  144. they can deduct 5m for his misdemeanors :)

    ReplyDelete
  145. I think that voucher can not be used in conjunction with another promotion (release clause) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  146. Niall O'Reilly4:17 pm, May 30, 2013

Whatever....Good riddance to him,I mean the support the club showed to him (When we shouldn't have) and then the second he gets a chance to go he does? Whatever f**k him

    ReplyDelete
  147. :D .....either way the person losing the most is suarez he can travel all around the world but he isnt gonna get the love and support from fans like we liverpool fans gave him (barring uruguay fans ofc) !

    ReplyDelete
  148. just wait till he messes up in spain and he gets the stick from real fans we all can LOL then :P

    ReplyDelete
  149. Oh diddums, I'm so sorry for hurting poor Luis. My media assassination is going to make poopkins go to another country. I was here before him, I'll be here way after him. Sorry son but better men have left the club before and I moved on. If he wants to leave like a whore flirting openly with Real Madrid then that's his business but I'll be a man and stick around thick and thin. I only hope he keeps his knickers on long enough to get a half decent price for him.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Our last decent front pairing involved Emile Ivanhoe Heskey. Bloody hell! I refuse to have that, instead will say Gerrard was used as a striker, instead of attacking midfielder, when with Torres.

    ReplyDelete
  151. lol u just had to remind all of us of the original troll king heskey :P

    ReplyDelete
  152. jaimie what i find odd is as a lfc fan how do you get so much joy out of seeing our best players go your face book headline( read it and weep it )is just self gloating ,nothing to do with whats better for the club just self satisfication on your part ,if you did not support the same club as me nothing would give me greater safisfication than to see you read it and weep it if your club got relageted next season ,but as i say we support the same club,or at least i think we do;-)

    ReplyDelete
  153. benteke and lukaku??

    ReplyDelete
  154. eh just what did i post so offensive ?

    ReplyDelete
  155. Your original point was to use Suarez's price relative to Bale's price and that the two are equal. I'm saying that they aren't because of factors not related to talent which Real would use to drive down Suarez's price.

I agree with you. I don't want to sell Suarez. And the only reason we should is if we have an offer we can't refuse.

I'm just saying that there's a decent chance that Real would have to pay more for Bale than Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  156. too expensive and un realistic ........ ie benteke expensive and could suffer second season syndrome amd chelsea aint gonna sell another good striker to us .......maybe we should try dzeko

    ReplyDelete
  157. and more importantly we will sign

    ReplyDelete
  160. fortunately we have totenham and arsenal who steal a march on us and sign themhopefully :P eh ashley williams ;)

    ReplyDelete
  161. i posted last week that reina and suarez had cancelled the places for their children at the nursery the players use. only hope that suarez takes coates with him for company as part of the deal

    ReplyDelete
  162. True say, I feel Dzeko is too similar to Carroll tho. I will be hard to find same quality as mr suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  163. would be better to loan coates he has potential.....if loan fails we can always sell also once he plays more we can increase price more pointing to his game time

    ReplyDelete
  164. Before you plan to leave LFC, google Fernando Torres and Owen!! :P

    ReplyDelete
  165. how you know about that?

    ReplyDelete
  166. but unlike carroll dzeko has high mobility and he is a proven scorer almost everywhere :P

    ReplyDelete
  167. jackiethemagic4:53 pm, May 30, 2013

Luis Suarez - you know what you are! Now I no longer need to sing that ironically haha

    If true - this
could actually be a good thing. Because obviously it frees up a spot in
    the team that was guaranteed to Suarez. Which means that if we do end up buying some more attackers;
it gives grounds for new experimentations with formations. Hopefully we can spend his and Carrolls money on depth and boom; we've got some rotation. Which we didnt have this year and probably a good reason for our inconsistency. This
should be disasterous but bizarrely, I'm quite excited for next season.

...I'm probably being way too optimistic... we're going to finish 14th arent we lol

    ReplyDelete
  168. as massive LFC fan I hate the fact that a couple week back Torres was the reining World cup/European cup/European cup golden boot/champions league/FA cup/uefa cup holder, makes me sick but true

    ReplyDelete
  169. agree however man city can keep him, we need better.

    ReplyDelete
  170. He is a world Class player.. Real would really have some strike force if they had Ronaldo --- Suarez --- Bale up front. I think its a mistake for any team to lose a World Class player and its cheap at only 40 mill in today's crazy market even if he is a toe rag.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Big fat no to Di Maria. He's a natural cheat

    ReplyDelete
  172. Anyone out there who thinks Luis Suarez should go is not looking at the bigger picture really. There are a handful of strikers with his level of ability, and NONE of them will come to Liverpool if he leaves. Look at what Cantona did at United. He was hated just as much as Suarez and Ferguson persuaded him to stay and he had a fantastic come-back. Even Ronaldo was public enemy no.1 after the World Cup, Fergie persuaded him to stay and look what happened. Rio Ferdinand "forgot" to go to his drug test and got banned heavily. Did Utd think of selling him to "protect" their image? Juventus got relegated for MATCH-FIXING, does anyone remember that? Well they are back in the champions league and no one is talking about how much of a disgrace they are. Don't be so stupid, the game is about WINNING, and you need world class players to succeed. If he stayed and he got us into the top 4, do you really think the talk will be about how much of a scumbag he is? Come on, use your brains! If you think we are going to replace this guy easily then you really have no idea about football. There are a handful of players with his ability and none of them would even think about coming to Liverpool, ESPECIALLY if he leaves. The image of Liverpool FC is based on our trophy cabinet and fantastic support. Suarez will win you trophies FACT.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I think you may find the word "definitely" was not used in that interview. While he thought it more likely than not he was not definite.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I would'nt mind trading both for Luis ,if at all the club is doing business

    ReplyDelete
  175. he is worth much more than 40m pounds

    ReplyDelete
  176. I don't think anyone on here can say 100% what is happening at the moment.

Suarez may have been commenting hypothetically, Guardiola may be lying because a deal has been done, Marca may be being economical with the truth. We all know Real Madrid's style when player. Comments in the media about the player, trying to unsettle him and lower the price etc etc - Marca, if so well connected to Madrid could be part of this, trying to unsettle Suarez, and get him cheaper than Liverpool's price/buyout clause.

We are not even 100% sure there is a buyout clause. The media was all the rage about a buyout clause a couple of months ago, then stories appeared that said there was no buyout clause. Now the buyout clause stories are rearing their head again.

If Suarez goes, let's just get the best price we can as soon as we can and not be bullied by Madrid. If Suarez leaves, as long as we don't waste the money ala Andy Carroll style, this could help accelerate our team/squad building by a transfer window at least, perhaps 2.

If Suarez stays then he can bring a lot of skill and creativity to Liverpool's attack next season and aid a challenge "hopefully" for Champions League or at least European football next season.

I am not fussed either way as I see it as potentially positive for Liverpool whatever the outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  177. You told us so?? Are you for real? He isn't going anywhere!!

    ReplyDelete
  178. and yet they still might not win the Champions League lol

    ReplyDelete
  179. this is stupid. LFC are not complete idiots, one they can get more than that, no one can actually confirm any buyout clause. two there are plenty of forwards, young and talented that club would look at getting in a trade. three diss real even have a coach yet? Not many players are going to sign for a club with no coach because they don't know if the coach wants them. I understand real is money bags but they have bigger problems on their hands with ronaldo and bale would ultimately be a better fit and buy for real. the market hasn't started technically but it is early. and I believe there is benefits to keeping saurez and to selling, but I personally hope he stays he is phenomenal talent that could truly help push the club back up. the relationship between him and teammates is strong, and quite young when it comes to anybody upfront with him (borini, sturridge, countiho, sterling, suso) and can prosper even more in this season.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I don't care how good the player is - if he causes problems like Suarez then I'm happy to see them go.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Dude if you don't like others given you their opinions then why bother??? You have to remember that you are not the only person with opinions. And when you go public you are also agreeing to any criticisms AND yes some people go too far. However you can't delete other people disagreement of yours just because you think yours is better.

    ReplyDelete
  182. If Suarez want to leave the club then so be it, but the buyer should pay the right price as they will receive value for money, his market value is far more than 65 million. Fsg should negociate hard to get maximum as it was the case for torres.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Ideal replacement for Suaréz then. Does he bite people, too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  184. Not sure its a done deal yet. Marca do tend to print all sorts of stuff which never happens. However I`m sure it will be soon.

Is it good? im split on it. It isnt good for the team in the sense of he is a brilliant player, but at the same time I think he brings the club down and therefore its good he has gone. We just signed Aspa though so he will replace Suarez in terms of being a nutter. Aspa makes Suarez look friendly lol

    ReplyDelete
  185. I am unsure what to believe when it comes to the Suarez Saga, I wouldn't want to see him leave however if he does I do not see it as the end of the world, as long as the funds generated are spent wisely unlike those from Torres. I would love to see Erikson, Navas and I hate to say it but Torres come in with the £40 Million + any other money generated from sales. Going slightly off topic but if Aspas signs I doubt he is a replacement for Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  186. He's going, deal with it

    ReplyDelete
  187. liverpool4life5656:07 pm, May 30, 2013

Oh you don't know that for a fact so keep it to yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Well we have always got Andy Carroll as a replacement for Suarez, maybe that is why he hasn't accepted West Ham's offer......(!) Urgh, please no

    ReplyDelete
  189. 'Suarez will win you trophies FACT'

True, we have won the prestigious League Cup during his time here. Lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Although he better hurry up, if he wants to overtake Ivanhoe Heskey's LFC trophy wins.

    ReplyDelete
  191. i know this report might come as a shock to some people. Every body excepted that Suarez would play for Liverpool like Gerrard did for the rest of his career.

i believe there are three reasons that Suarez might want to leave Liverpool.

    (1) The reality is that Suarez might be a little more ambitious a player and maybe not prepared to wait for Liverpool to get it's shit together and start really spending on top class quality players. We haven't been able to bring in any big house hold names in the world of football at Liverpool and case in point we might be loosing the race for Christain Eriksen as well. Suarez wanted to probably see big name talent signed up at Liverpool . Our club clearly is not ready to $pend on that kind of talent right now.

(2)Can't say that i blame him for looking to Madrid, it is no secret that Suarez's wife's parents reside in Spain. Also the fact that Madrid have Chrisiano Ronaldo , a team of big name talent and champion's league football. One had to ask themselves how long Liverpool could really realistically hold unto Suarez for with out champion's league football. If the reports that he has already agreed to terms with Madrid are true then this deal is just about done and dusted.

(3)Suarez is beyond embarrassed. I think that Suarez must feel really silly after his attempt at cannibalism. I mean he must know that he has probably lost a lot of respect amongst his contemporaries on other teams in the BPL. Players are professional about their business but the that action will probably remain in the back of everybody's mind for some time to come. Adding the lengthy 10 match ban on top of that Suarez might feel that he needs a change of scenery and a new challenge to help overcome this ordeal.

Having said that I personally feel that Suarez is a player that has done more damage to Liverpool than good. Regardless of his nearly 30 goals for Liverpool in all competitions in this season. He has certainly put the club in an awkward situation many times forcing Brendan Rodgers to have to defend him or explain away his actions. When the biting incident first happened Rodgers was quick to defend his star player but when it became obvious to him that it would put him in a really bad light and would prove more embarrasing for Liverpool he quickly spoke out condemning the action by Suarez. I personally feel that once Liverpool is rid of Suarez we can have stability at the club. Our troubled genius just never seemed to learn from previous mistakes he made. i still find it hard to believe that Suarez has attempted cannibalism on two different occasions, Once against Ottman Bakkal of PSV while playing for Ajax and then recently against Branisov Icanovic of Chelsea. Of course there would be a media storm since no other player in football has ever bitten two people and then received a two lengthy bans. I would leave too.

    ReplyDelete
  192. yeah i dont mind the sound of it either

    ReplyDelete
  193. As far as I know the bid has been accepted but the donkey doesnt want to leave. I was looking forward to this transfer however it is proving a nightmare... Aspas and Kolo (decent yet average signings IMO) I was looking forward to signing Erikson however it appears he is off to BVB and the Papadopolus and Alderweid moves are off, Suarez MAY be on his way out, the only promising rumour is Navas which is likely to just be made up garbage however all i can do is hope things work out.

    ReplyDelete
  194. As bad as some of his antics have been.he is been victimized by the press and the ferguson ass (f.a) if suarez had of run around anfield with a fake black arm,he would be in jail now.FACT.

    ReplyDelete
  195. I know he overcome the homesickness thing or something of that ilk, Navas as he goes on international duty but I'm quite wary about signing him because of the issues he has had and probably still has to a lesser extent. Classy player though.

I didn't know about Papa's agents comments until your comment. Was getting a bit excited that we were getting our business done early.

    Or not.

    ReplyDelete
  197. I'm somewhat surprised by the negativity this post generates.
I have noticed the report on the Marca this morning, and I can say that I believe it completely.
Marca is not the sort of paper to generate baseless rumors.

I don't like the deal either, but from that to snipe at the fact it's happening? I just can't understand some people :O

Now let's just hope we get a world class striker to replace him. Higuain is a good idea but I doubt he'll come.
I actually don't have a single striker in mind that I regard to as "world class" and that I believe will come to a team that is not playing champions league football.
