Martin Skrtel returns to the Liverpool starting line-up for today's special game against QPR at Anfield. We know its Jamie Carragher's final game in a red shirt, but could it also be the Slovakian's last game too...?
FULL TEAM: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Lucas, Henderson, Ibe, Downing, Coutinho, Sturridge.
SUBS: Jones, Wisdom, Coady, Coates, Suso, Assaidi, Borini.
The big surprise is that exciting youngster Jordan Ibe makes Premier League debut, which hopefully bodes well for his chances next season.
Predicting a conservative 2-0 Liverpool victory, Reds legend Mark Lawrenson poured scorn on QPR's problems this season. He told the BBC:
"They made far too many defensive mistakes - collectively and individually - throughout the campaign to have any chance of staying up. I don't think things were right in the dressing room either.
"Liverpool will finish seventh whatever happens in this game, and I think that is a pretty fair reflection on their season"
Anfield hero Jan Molby hopes Liverpool can go out on a high against QPR. He told Eurosport:
"Hopefully he [Sturridge] is not finished for the season yet and he gets a couple more against QPR on Sunday. QPR have been doomed to relegation since the first month of the season and I’d love to see us give them a good hiding".
In today's match programme, Steven Gerrard pays tribute to Carra:
"People ask about best players I've played with. Naturally you think attackers but Carra's never far from my thoughts."

Good line up, also I think skrtel will stay, I think Coates will go tho. But come on coutinho and Sturridge!:)
ReplyDeleteLove the Nani thing...Brilliant lol
ReplyDeleteI hope shelvey leaves, cant stand that guy anymore, cant remember a lfc player who wasted more sitters than him, dont care what hes doing for the reserves, he was horrible every time he got into the first team, FACT.
ReplyDeleteCome on ibe!!! Lets see what you can do.
ReplyDelete4or 5 nil carragher to score what more could we want ,it would be fantastic if jaimie could score today hopefully his team mates will do everything possible to make it happen(come on jaimie lad all we are singing is give us a goal)
ReplyDeleteEvery time did you watch any of tge games at start of the season hewas great he got sent of against the mancs and declined from their he may look more mature than some of the other players but he aint hes still a kid get of his back and people wonder why none ofthe youngens ever make it preasure and negativity from idiots like your self who probably never played at any level ARSE
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to see more of Assaidi, Borini and Coates once it became obvious that we weren't getting back into Europe.
ReplyDeleteSurely it's a massive slap to Assaidi to not only see a full back played instead of him this year, but also central midfielders and now a 17 y/o!?
Hopefully Ibe can grab a goal. Like it when we let the youngsters have a go :) lots of pace up front now too which is good!
ReplyDeleteEitherways, good looking team - everybody's playing in their favoured positions, with Henderson back in central midfield and Coutinho getting the No. 10 role from the start.
ReplyDeleteShifting Sturridge out-wide (in Downing's place) just so we can get a look at Borini upfront for 45 minutes before we enter the transfer window good move though...
Lets hope arsenal win and Tottenham lose, can stand them nicking our transfer targets. Arse won't do anything in the champ league as always. We can really push on next year and take advantage of the change at the top. #carra
ReplyDeleteCOME ON 3+ NIL = 100+ goals this season! Carra for a Hat-trick.
ReplyDeleteAssaidi was not a Rodgers signing, the transfer committee recommended him, I am reliably informed.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know ... it's Jordon Ibe.
ReplyDeleteSorry, that's just not true.
ReplyDeletelol assaidi is a rodgers signing,a 4 million pound signing that he must rate at zero
ReplyDeleteJORDAN IBE is a very exciting young talent.I've seen plenty of him this season.I'll be shocked if he doesn't make it with us because he's got great ability and physically should be able to cope because he's got a stocky frame.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that ppl instantly forget all achievements other than trophy wins. Arsenal did get to the final just a few short years ago...
ReplyDeleteI want Arsenal to overtake Chelsea for third anyway. And Chelsea to lose in the CL qualifying rounds!
Yea, think arse are on the up, apparently they will spend 100mill this year. Believe that when I see it. Do fear Tottenham too, bale will leave if they dont qualify. LFC we could hit top three next year. Think Man U are are in for a tough ride.
ReplyDeletegreat tracking back from Ibe
ReplyDeletei personnaly like him most for his glimpses of the deadly passes to sturridge (:
ReplyDeletehis pace is applaudable
ReplyDeleteAgreed - it wouldn't be a proper tribute if Carra didn't score;
ReplyDeletealthough it would be more fitting if he scored an own goal!
what a disappointment the game was dire like our season we did not create one clear cut chance against the bottom side in the league ,coutinho great strike carragher really unlucky and apart from that nothing fair enough coutinhos header crossed the line but that was piss poor no movement in the box,and when they was the player was completly ignored garbage
ReplyDeleteCould have been worse- we could have been 3-0 and 5-2 up and drawn lol
ReplyDeleteand effort. No one else was running for that tackle.
ReplyDeleteok so out of the four clear cut chances you state, no others tho right ?
ReplyDeletewhat clear cut chances we shot from 30 yards every time that was piss poor m8
ReplyDeleteso the goal and one which didnt count which was a goal werent chances?
ReplyDeleteguess you didn't watch the game then
ReplyDeleteno m8 your missing the point we did not create any clear cut chances we shot from distance
ReplyDeleteyes i did it was garbage how many clear cut chances did we create
ReplyDeleteyep. hes effort was great - but thats what players always are at their debut ;)
ReplyDeletelets just hope he carries on the good work and he will surely find himself as a regular in a few years - he has the conditions and the abilities to fit both - the PL and our style of playing football!
JASE, for once you're 100% right.Shots from distance are not clear cut chances.
ReplyDeleteWe created very few decent chances.DOWNING had one that hit the side net.STURRIDGE kept cutting back when he had the opportunity to shoot from a angle in the box.Lots of blocked shots. The performance was flat.
The positives was JORDAN IBE who played well SUSO who showed some good touches when he came on and COUTINHO scoring.CARRA's shot from distance was very unlucky but I'm glad he got a clean sheet and a win in his last game.
totally agree with your sum up of the game
ReplyDeleteWho cares, 3 points is what counts, good teams win without even playing well. And 61 points for this season better than last improvement that's what counts.
ReplyDeletepoor game but lets be honest our season ended several weeks ago .
ReplyDeleteoff topic did anyone notice john terry in a denmark kit last nite !!!
ReplyDeleteend of the day tho it was last game, and nothing to play for, compared to a few other games in the league im happy that we tried hard and won. often these games can resulting in no one trying.
ReplyDeleteThe transfer commitee didn't even exist at that stage and BR is part of it anyway.
ReplyDeleteIf we were ten games into the season, without our two best players, and still got three points despite not playing very well, we'd all be happy with the points. But the points don't matter anymore so it seems worse now. I'm happy we finished with more points than we did last year, that we have been much better since January and I think we'll be very positive come the start of next season. Well most of us anyway.
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, I agree, this season its showed that sometimes any win is a good win.
ReplyDeletewhile i'd love us to dominate games and show how good we are every week, i just dont think we have the squad at the moment for it.
So getting 3 points is the main thing.
if we were that good they would be wanting to score 5 for the fans it was just a poor effort imo
ReplyDeletelol i wonder what kit he will turn up at the champions league final in
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right.
ReplyDeleteNanisnotok, stupid comment, shelvey is gerrards replacement he won't be sold ever, every Liverpool fan knows thatswhy we have him,he's being moulded, god in your world we would have sold 20 year old gerrard
ReplyDeleteFunny i remeber he was saying about our exiting new player, getting sick of seeing him not played, if he don't go presume he's getting a run pre season
ReplyDeletedisagree, utd won the league by miles yet only draw 5-5 and through away a massive lead. So I dont think how you get on in ur last game has any reflection on how good players or a team is. In fact I dont think any one game alone is any reflection. I remember utd losing to wigan when wigan were bottom last season, didnt mean utd were rubbish.
ReplyDeleteOver the season though in terms of league play I would say we gave away fourth as we drew way to many games we should have won.
