At the beginning of March, Valencia star Aly Cissokho admitted that he found it 'pleasing' to see his name linked with a move to Liverpool, and with Summer transfer window only a few months away, the France left-back has once again hinted that he'd like a move to the Premier League.
Cissokho has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last year, and in an interview last week, the powerful central defender expressed frustration over his reduced playing time:
"In this second part of the season I'm not playing as much, unlike the first. Are there English clubs in my future? Well, I'm proud that my name is matched with these clubs"
Speaking to French newspaper Le Parisien in March, Cissokho acknowledged Liverpool's interest, and made it clear he'd love to move to the Premier League. He enthused:
"I've never hidden the fact that the English league is the one that attracts me the most. It's pleasing to see my name linked to Liverpool. They're a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt"
In June 2012, Cissokho's Agent, Fabrizio Ferrari admitted that 'English clubs have been observing the player', and soon afterwards, Lyon released a tetchy statement insisting that the player would not be allowed to leave on the cheap. It read:
"Negotiations with clubs [over Cissokho] will not begin for less than €11m [£9m]. Lyon would like to remind clubs that Aly Cissokho has played 91 Ligue 1 and 29 Champions League matches at the club and became an international for France"
Cissokho ultimately signed for Valencia in a €6m deal, but prior to the move, Ferrari confirmed that 25-year old still wanted a move to the Premier League. He told France Football:
"Aly wishes to discover a new challenge. If he has to stay he will and will do his job, but if there is an opportunity he will seize it. The priority is England or Italy. However, there have been no concrete offers as yet".
Cissokho signed a four-year deal with Valencia in August 2012, so it seems unlikely they'd let him go after just one season. However, if Liverpool make the right offer, anything is possible. Some proper competition at left back for Jose Enrique would be good, but it's probably not a priority position.
Worth a bid in the summer?

We do need backup in LB. But this guy could not be it.
ReplyDeleteReuters News agency - news flash 5 minutes ago. Suarez to sign pre-contract agreement with Munich for Summer move.
ReplyDeletewe do not have money to waste on other clubs rejects, what is it with lfc these days were linked with every player who cannot get a game for the club there at,hes only just moved to valencia and is not willing to fight for his place ,so come to anfield and fight with enrique for i starting berth,i do not think so he will be sat on the bench sulking within weeks
ReplyDeletebreaking news 5 minutes ago rodgers says lfc will not be selling top players lol,who to believe;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer Bruno Martins-Indi who can play at lb to be honest, this guy isn't really better than Enrique anyway.
ReplyDelete1/4/13
ReplyDeletestill nothing coming up on lfc web pages
ReplyDeleteApril Fool's day.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, he would be adequate cover and competition, just like there isn't much to choose between Kelly and Johnson, plus we could use another left footed defender. Ashley Williams looks like a definite signing, plus both Kelly and Wisdom are equally capable of playing in the middle as they are on the flanks.
ReplyDeleteIndeed
ReplyDeletelol i completly forgot
ReplyDeletewalt grow up this is a series site lol;-))
ReplyDeletewe dont need squad players we need the real deal....im a big fan of enrique and this guy would be a lot of money for cover .....our no 1 priority is a world class cb ( not ashley williams ) who will come straight in and play
ReplyDeleteJk was praising suarez that gave the game away
ReplyDeleteAnother reject looking for a big pay day,we've had our share thanks. PS not much mention of Ashley Westwood today, if Suarez made that challenge, even on the other side of the world for Uruguay,it would be tops in every news outlet and website. No witch hunts!
ReplyDeleterodgers- "it's a privilege to work with gerrard"... does it ever stop? -_-
ReplyDeletehe did not praise suarez on this thread or i would have twigged straight away lol;-)
ReplyDeleteI really find this kind of praise odd....im one of Gerrard biggest fans but this is OTT he hardly knows the guy...it reminds me of a scene from fawlty towers where sybil says to basil ...you cant get it right your either slavering all over the guests or spitting venom at them ...perhaps im reading to much into the guy and his < mentality >
ReplyDeletei fancied williams but he looked awful on MOTD against spurs ...and me being as fickle as i am deem him a no go
ReplyDeletegod can you image how much backslapping he gives himself, completely over the top i thought gerrard had apoor game by his standards yesterday but came up with the goods in the end
ReplyDeleteSuarez to bBayern is nonsense...Moore Chances hesgoing to Manu.. There's a big possibility he's moving away but it won't be bayern as they absolutely don't need him...
ReplyDeleteI hope this summer LFC will sell out Steward Downing and Andy Carroll is the top priority.
