On-loan Liverpool striker scored two goals for West Ham at the weekend as the Hammers downed West Brom 3-1. Sam Allardyce called the £35m striker's performance 'the best since he's been here', but former Reds midfielder Jamie Redknapp is still not convinced that Carroll will figure in Liverpool's plans next season.
In his column for the Daily Mail today, Redknapp admitted that Carroll 'is in a rich vein of form', and urged him to 'finish the season like he's playing now'. Whether he does that or not, Redknapp believes his Anfield days are numbered. He said:
"He looked a top-class centre forward on loan at West Ham on Saturday, but I don’t see him having a future at Liverpool. If they don’t think he’s worth £15million, somebody else surely must"
When asked if Carroll would be at West Ham next season, Allardyce told the BBC:
"There is always a possibility. We will look at the end of the season and we will see what negotiations can be done."
Carroll's double against West Brom puts his tally this season at 5 goals in 19 games, but is this an improvement over his league form for Liverpool last season?
This season
* One goal every 265 mins (1 every 3 games)
* 7.8% conversion rate.
Last season
* One goal every 516 mins (1 every 5.7 games)
* 5.1% conversion rate.
Carroll has definitely improved in front of goal, but not enough (IMO) to justify Liverpool keeping him. Fabio Borini hasn't set the world on fire either, but Carroll has several advantages over the Italian:
* He plays in a team that's set-up to serve him.
* He always plays in his natural position: centre-forward.
* Borini is played out of position on the wing.
* In his whole time at Anfield, the Italian has played up front just *once*.
Irrespective of Borini's troubles in front of goal, I'd still rather have him in the squad than Carroll. Whatever happens, Liverpool are going to take a massive loss on Carroll, so the club should just accept whatever West Ham put on the table and be done with it.

jaimie its as plain as the nose on your face that we should sell both ..and use the money for benteke or a similar player........carrolls face will never fit at anfield so we have to cut our losses and borini offers nothing ...hes neither a target man or a pace merchant .and from what ive seen cant hack it ..we should never have bought him as he never wanted to leave italy in the first place if reports are right he was a comfort buy for rogers like allen was .......a bit like a baby with a dummy
ReplyDeleteWhy not re-train carroll? BR put downing to LB .. we need a strong tall CB .. why not hey :-)
ReplyDeleteHe has no future with us 18mil i think was the deal west ham had with liverpool if they wanted to buy him. cut our lose . use some of that buying stevie gerrard replacment Isco great player for future .
ReplyDeleteCarroll does not have the control/skill set to play in buck's set up, end of discussion. kenny is a relic who thought he could recreate the bygone era, big lad up front etc etc, and that got him the sack.
ReplyDeleteAC knows he's playing for his return to newcastle(if they stay up, which i hope they dont), so we should see some effort from now till the end of the season.
if we get more than 12m for him, i'll be very surprised and very happy.
apparently the gramiero deal was going to happen in jan but PSG could not find a replacement in time. him plus a few million change from the carroll sale would sweeten the bitter blow of loosing so much on AC.
I would still rather defend borini than carroll. The fact is hes a good Plan B. I just Feed sorry for The big Andy because he will turn to be a wonderful Player. Stil. Still think fsg made a misstake in giving the lead to BR (I support him tho) because that meant the end of Andy Carroll's Liverpool career... Nevermind that's another story.. think we should cash in if westham or newcastle bring in a decent offer and put the money towards another striker - I would prefer bony or benteke but gameiro sounds good too.
ReplyDelete+ that depends all on how we will use Ngoo - I love this guy by the way . Such a controversial player that could turn out to become a really good player . He's tall he's fast and his technical abilities aren't bad too . Would love to see him sometimes asjoker
ReplyDeleteAnd how did downing play as a lb ? Probably our worst lb in the last 10 years . And yes I remember traore..
ReplyDeletei hope so but i just cant see west ham offering 18m...i really dont know what clauses etc where put in this deal ( knowing Liverpool not many ) but the whole world knows his position with rogers at anfield so why would they when they know more or less any offer they bid would be accepted..if i was big SAM id say 5m rogers take it or have an unhappy player in your squad who you dont want on big wages.....
ReplyDeletegod redknapp really grates me to hear him speak you would think he was king kenny and john barnes all rolled into one
ReplyDeleteI like Ngoo too, but his loan spell at Hearts is turning into a bit of a disaster. Since he arrived, the team has lost 8 of the 12 games he's started (winning only 2), and Ngoo has gone 8 games without scoring now. He started off well, but it's quickly gone sour.
ReplyDeleteSell Carroll AND Borini .. neither are good enough
ReplyDeleteCarroll should be sold. Its not that he is a bad player but rather he isn`t the type for the style we play. I`m sure in a few years he will be a real power house like Drogba.
ReplyDeleteBorini has basically been injured the whole time since signing so seems to make sense to keep for one more season, just to see if he can cut it.
The question with Carroll is how much will we get for him? I would say about £12mil. The 18mil deal with west ham will clearly be haggled down.
Well I don't know about you Jason m'lad, if someone was speaking a mix of Glaswegian and Jamaican, I think we'd all stand up and take notice.
ReplyDeletenot if they talked bollocks lol
ReplyDeleteDon't insult Drogba who has technique that Carroll can only dream of!
ReplyDeleteSpot on, no control, no movement, can't dribble, inconsistent heading/shooting. He belongs to Stoke not LFC!
ReplyDeleteRhyming bollocks though?
ReplyDeleteIsco is a real talent. He is top class but unfortunately Brendan Rodgers doesn't have the pull to make this transfer happen. People like Isco will be only drawn to big name clubs and big name managers. Preferably a club that will give him champions league. You can't go from playing champion's league football with Malaga and then go to Liverpool to play Europa league football. Liverpool doesn't know how to compete for big name players and Isco is a big name, almost too big for Liverpool. This will happen only when cows fly, but it's good to be optimistic.
ReplyDeletewell said Roowanb. Kenny was a good servant to the Kop but his absence from the game just meant that modern style and tactics passed him by. Love Brendan Rodgers because he is willing to search for talent outside far and wide . Kenny loved to buy British talent. Noting wrong with that but any team needs diversity to be successful in the BPL.
ReplyDeleteor rapping
ReplyDeleteId have Carrol over Borini as a squad member. If you need a goal in the last 20 or so minutes Id rate Carrols chances of coming off the bench and getting one or at least giving you other options way ahead of the Italian.
ReplyDeleteDid you not watch the matches under Kenny? Liverpool were the best team in 90% of their matches for a year and a half. If you prefer Rodgers as manager I assume its because can spend more time with the family as Liverpool only play every other weekend these days, This time last year they were busy playing in finals and semi's. I spose keep going to Wembley can get a bit boring eh.
ReplyDeleteSell Carroll and try and reel in Yılmaz as a replacement.
ReplyDeleteit was a future thing. Carroll is a lot younger than Drogba and strikers of there style dont come into there own until after 25 normal. Drogba was the same in this respect to so its not really insulting anyone is it?
ReplyDeleteStill in absolute shock when I think about the absolute shite Dalglish and Comoli bought. #shocking
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't know that, actually I thought he's doing really good there. Is he a regular starter?
ReplyDeleteAnother one that will definitely shine in the future is yesil btw. Love watching him in u21 german games !!
Not even just the players but the money them clowns spent on them, they set Liverpool back years and should've used that £100m building Liverpool a good team. I remember the day Liverpool signed Carroll for £35m I said to my brother is this a fucking joke!
ReplyDeleteCarroll has no pace or little ball control and a stinker of an attitude. Can't stand him tbh Hope he plays brilliant for west ham so they give us £15m and Liverpool are finally rid of him
ReplyDeleteKenny's team couldn't score in a brothel! Terrible manager that he became and never should've came back to waste all Liverpools money. Rodgers team is exciting and scoring more than any team in 2013. Rodgers will win plenty of trophies just you watch..
ReplyDeleteWhat's the point in comparing one with the other, if they're both not good enough. All we can hope for is that Carrol does well towards the end of the season, except for the match against us of course, scores a hat trick against Everton and drives up his value a bit because when people like Allardyce say things like "what negotiations can be done" they mean what rip off price we can offer for him. If he does well the rest of the season, there could be more bidders and we could have a better chance of getting a good price.
ReplyDeleteMust admit I've been really shocked at Hearts recent downfall but wouldn't fault just Ngoo - it's been downhill since they got smashed by Dundee - shocking team performance but he was prob their best player..
ReplyDeleteIt will be a painful loss of at least 20-25 mil pounds but that is better than nothing. Enough said of the quality of AC and of course not forgetting the most stupid transfer deal ever in the long history of soccer. Borini can go too, I think we have enough cover in Samil Yesil and Suso. These 2 boys can't be any worse than AC and Borini.
ReplyDeleteyeh like suarez
ReplyDeletedo you actually watch LFC of just read the Daily Manc
