Over the last month, Liverpool have been linked with 6'4 Vasco da Gama centre-back Dede, and reports suggest that the Reds have even 'established a relationship' with with the private investment group that owns 55 per cent of the player. At first glance, the link seems unlikely, but last night, Dede's manager confirmed the Reds' interest.
Speaking to TMW, Giuliano Aranda - Dede's representative - claimed that Dede is 'happy in Brazil', but confirmed:
"Liverpool are interested, and the last contact [with the club] took place six months ago, but there is no direct contact with me"
According to a report in The Mirror last week:
"Liverpool are ready to commit massive funds to land Brazilian superstar Dede. Liverpool, United, Juventus and Benfica [have all made] enquiries about the 24-year-old"
Vasco da Gama are in the midst of huge financial problems, and are currently being pursued by federal tax authorities for unpaid debts. As such, director general Cristiano Koehler confirmed last week that Dede would need to be sacrificed to cover the debts. He told Reporters:
“We have to prioritise the payment of wages, taxes and federal agreements, so it is inevitable we will have to sell - so it is possible, in the middle of the year when the sale goes through, we can use the money to restructure the club and make it safe"
Vasco's rivals, Corinthians, are also interested in signing Dede. Head coach Tite told reporters recently:
"Dede is a very good player, and Corinthians will always be open to top level athletes like Dede. He fits the project."
When quizzed by reporters last year over the possibility of leaving Vasco, Dede - who has a €28m buyout clause in his contract - made it clear that he wanted to stay. He told LanceNet:
"I am not ready to leave. When I am, I will say. It is too soon to leave. Brazilian football is making me grow, I feel ready to represent the Selecao in a good way without having to leave the country."
At 6'4, the Brazilian is a man-mountain, and could be the imperious defender the Reds have been looking for ever since Sami Hyypia left the club in 2009. Given the club's current situation, however, it seems unlikely that he'll choose Liverpool over the likes of Man United and Juventus, but you never know.

No! We don't need our own David Luiz. This guy looks like more cards and penalties given away. Besides, we aren't appreciating Coates very much.
ReplyDeleteHe looks strong and quick. Would prefer him over williams..
ReplyDeletejaimie you make me laugh when you say at the end of some posts,(that given the clubs current situation its hardly likely he would choose lfc over theses other clubs)when what the truth is that given the spending power of these and a lot more football clubs lfc are in division 2 ,fsg will turn is into nobodies slowly but surely we are getting used to lowering our sites each season ,and if we sell suarez we will sell anyone who we can turn a profit on because profit will become king,,success will be a bonus
ReplyDeleteWhy do you keep listening to what agents "confirm". It's all cheap talk, isn't it? Talking up the market value of the player ... very basic communication strategy.
ReplyDeleteYou read a lot of these "reports" elsewhere on the net. This website has a different standard though. Most of your articles are really enoyable because they differ from the classical blind faith opinions, but you could really do without these "agent confirms" stuff ;)
No, with respect, that is just your opinion. I'd rather post an article based on an actual comment from an Agent, player, CEO, manager etc than something based on pure supposition.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know Agent talk is just 'cheap talk'? I've been writing about LFC for years now, and in my experience, a lot of what Agents say is actually accurate. It just doesn't come to fruition straight away.
Clubs are constantly enquiring about players; Scouts are constantly checking on players, yet equally, interest wanes just as frequently, and/or circumstances change that mean a club has to look elsewhere.
That doesn't mean that, at the time, what the Agent says is a lie.
If Dede's Agent says that LFC have made contact, I have no reason to believe that's not true, and it's far more persuasive evidence than speculation without direct quotes.
Additionally, fans want to hear what Agents etc have to say abotu possible transfer targets.
fact is FSG already spend a lot of money for us. and im glad they dont do (a la ManC Chelsea) because i dont want us to get one of these clubs, that are buying titles. FSG burn their fingers when they bought Downing Carroll Hendo Adam ... for 100m that was shocking and all together i understand they changed their mind. Our transfer staregy is a good one and i just hope we keep on doing like that, because we will get better and better, players are getting more experience and we have wonderful youngstars comming through. Still agree with you about selling suarez. If we do so that would mean that our club will always sell our best players in the future, and that signal would be really really worse.
ReplyDeleteif you think about Financial Fair Play and our debts, our stategy is the best way for us, to lower our wages, get exciting talents and try to lower the debts.
Beacause Coates looks like a accident waiting to happen and isn't actually that good a center back
ReplyDeleteI watched him before and he looks more than capable of handling the premier league.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the money is steep not sure he's worth that much
I just think it is not worthwile reporting stuff like this, because in 99% of all cases nothing comes from it. "Non-news" like that spoil your otherwise great website.
ReplyDeleteDedé is a very good defender, last season in Brazil he was one of the best players, this year his form has dipped a little, maybe by the fact that his club is not paying the players since january.I think he have the atributes to be a top player in the premier league,he is strong and good in the air. Some journalists in Brazil even compared him with beckenbauer.
ReplyDeleteFSG have put in alot of money into Liverpool.... And they've already told Rodgers he will have more backing this summer, good owners!
ReplyDeletewe will have peanuts this summer other clubs will have big bucks
ReplyDeleteThere's simply no rules stating that club owners must cough out 100s of mil of pounds into the club every season and they cannot pocket a single cent from player sales. How much money FSG spent on players since they took over the club is for all of us to see. Please be fair to FSG. The only thing you can blame them is that they don't have enough knowledge of the game to employ the correct people to manage the club and spend their money wisely.
ReplyDeletePeanuts? Last few windows we've outspent teams, you've got to realise this is with CL money. We will have about 40 million to spend in the summer plus player sales money...
ReplyDeletein your dreams more like 20million
ReplyDeletei,am being fair they came into it blind and will leave blind but richer
ReplyDeleteIn my dreams? Last summer how much did FSG spend on players? Allen-15 million borini-11 million, assaidi-3 million sahin-2/3 million Rodgers and back staff-7 million, scouts from city-2 million, sacking kenny cost us 10 million-cost FSG 51 million, this summer we will have more to spend like Rodgers said "purse strings will be loosen" even in january they gave Rodgers another 20 million, FSG are in this for the long term.
ReplyDeleteObviously they will come away richer, what business men comes away from a business with less money....?
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeletefine so let them make there money and f"ck off and they can take there bleeding hearts brigade with them
ReplyDeleteWhat's your "perfect owner" then? Spending 100 million in one window? Putting LFC future in trouble at same time?:)
ReplyDeleteno my perfect owners are someone who do have money to invest and give a shit about the club when was the last time your beloved fsg even bothered to attend a game cannot recall one home game this season
ReplyDeletecheck away henry as not been to anfield because he knows hes not going to get a easy ride, and why reply i would check my facts 1st obviosly your love affair with fsg is all consuming
ReplyDeleteLike I said, henry deals with red sox, Werner deals with Liverpool, READ what I say, TWO people are main front of FSG not just Henry. So your talking rubbish.
