Done Deal? LFC bid for exciting goal-machine who hit five goals in one game

Liverpool are reportedly in negotiations with Barcelona over the potential signing of exciting winger Sergi Canós.

Reports in Spain this week claim that Liverpool have made an offer for 16-year old Spain youth international. Spanish newspaper Sport reports:

"Several of Barcelona's young players are tempted by Liverpool, Arsenal, City and Chelsea, who've made bids well above Barca's standard contract rate.

"Liverpool have been negotiating for weeks in a bid to sign striker Sergi Canós, and his agent, Eduardo Rivera, already has a formal offer from the club"

Canós is something of a goal-machine at Barcelona:

* In October 2012, the 16-year old scored 5 goals in one game against Badalona.

* He's scored a few hat-tricks over the last couple of years, including the following against Cornella:

This season so far he's grabbed 15 goals in 13 games for Barcelona's Cadet A team. TotalBarca describes Canos as follows:

"Sergi’s goalscoring abilities have been invaluable to his team’s progress this season in the absence of star striker Alexis Meva, who has only recently recovered from a long term injury. The Castellon born target man is a class act with the ball at his feet"

I doubt anything will come of this. Liverpool have been linked with many promising young attackers over the last year, most notably HJC Helsinki striker Joel Pohjanpalo (who undertook a one week trial at Liverpool FC), and nothing has come of it, and Barcelona don't generally allow their upcoming talents to leave easily.

  1. I wonder why Barcelona don't change their youth contract policies? Or maybe it's because of the Law.

Seems like a tidy player. However we need players for now primarily although I do not mind a prospect joining. This summer will be interesting. I got a feeling however that BR will sign a terrible player amongst other signings lol!

  2. If he signs 4 amazing players, I dont mind 1 dodgy player.
Should be an interesting summer! Roll on next season....

    ReplyDelete
  3. PS did you Suarez "punch" at the Chillean defenders? What is wrong with this guy honestly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. the lad may come as they are different rules about young players contrants in different countries, but the fact is ,his he going to improve the side next season no,fsg have got to get in the real world we need players now not more potential ,because lets face it if we do not improve soon if any of these players reach there potential they will want to go and play for a club who,s successful and that will not help the club either ,it mite help the owners to turn a profit but its not going to help us on the park

    ReplyDelete
  5. True! As long as it's not in the Poulsen, Konchesky mould!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Exactly, FdotM. It's sickening how brainwashed some fans are. They're willing to just disregard anything Suarez does just because he's a good player. He friggin' punched he guy in the face for christ's sake! There's no defending it.

    ReplyDelete
  7. hardly a punch a bit of grappling in the box it happens every game

    ReplyDelete
  8. Amen Jamo, Amen! Bad breed! Apparently Bayern is preparing a mega bid for him...interesting to see how LFC is going to handle it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. if thats a punch i would not fancy your chances, it was nothing that dose not happen week in week out no doubt you will run a thread about it later,i bet thats cheered you up after scotlands perfomance last night, let the witch hunt begin

    ReplyDelete
  10. Jason..come on son! It was a deliberate punch. Look where his right arm is! He purposely punched Jara! Don't defend him!

    ReplyDelete
  11. i will defend who i want, ive been brainwashed, one thing i would rather be brainwashed by suarez than rodgers you seem to be able to defend rodgers, yes it was a punch but you just load the bullets and jaimie is getting ready to fire them

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jason, you are just part of the problem. It WAS a punch. Clear as day. Look at the video. Why do you defend something so blatantly wrong? I'm not going to post a thread because there's no point. If it happened in an LFC shirt I would, but I can't be bothered to argue with people who condone Suarez's behaviour. Total waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Seriously, I implore you - grow up.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am critical of anyone in the club deserving criticism and Suarez just does not do himself any favours! I criticism BR all the time.

    Ps- It was punch!

    ReplyDelete
  15. jaimie i do not condone it ,but there are a lot worse things in football and life, going on than suarez ,we have had worse players in the past or at least as bad, other clubs have to,maybe i,am old school and as long as he gives 100% to lfc i,am willing to overlook the imperfections in his character ,because when he leaves it may be along time till we see a footballing genius in the red shirt of lfc again, jaimie is it not said that all geniuses have a split personallity

    ReplyDelete
  16. You DO condone it. You're just making lame excuses. It's typical tactics: when something happens, try and muddy the waters by referring to irrelevant stuff that has nothing to do with the incident. What does what happened in the past etc have to do with Suarez's punch last night? Absolutely nothing. What others teams/players do also has nothing to do with what LFC players do. Suarez punched a guy in the face; it's not open to debate; it's a fact, and the video proves it. As such, he should be condemned for it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. like i said its happened before it will happen again ,we have had worse players at anfield duif was a total disgrace bellamys antics with riisea were worse i just think sometimes ,when everyone is having a go we need to rally round our own as a football community and may i also send my best wishes to those two likable chaps the neville brothers on this unpleasant day for them lol;-)

    ReplyDelete
  18. lol, Poulsen was hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  19. it was a punch ,so what its not the end of the world i am sure they will be a better punch throw in english football over the weekend;-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Just saw it, it was pretty bad.
But if he was wearing a Liverpool shirt when he did it, it wasnt a punch, if anything he got punched. ;-P
But seriously yea, its bad. UEFA or the FA need to get a grip on these kind of actions, and start making a few clearer rules. How McMananman didnt get banned against Newcaslte is just stupid, and makes a mockery of football. Off topic i know, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  21. are you really looking forward to next season ,because i am not if suarez go,s it will be worse than this imo rodgers as 10games to set down the foundations of a successful season or we will be looking for a new manager

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's passing the eye over it which is condoning it. Of course, compared to thing in the real life this is insignificant, but we are focusing on football in this debate.

Suarez just has a dirty nature. He should be punished according to the laws of the game. He is just a bad bee.

    ReplyDelete
  23. if hes punished so be it thats the rules but like i say its trivial

    ReplyDelete
  24. Of course it's not, no one here is advocating it is. But it is a big deal sporting wise as it violates the laws of the game and gives the game a bad reputation.

He should have been red carded and fined/suspended.

It's about the intent he had to intentionally hurt Jara.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I still can't believe Roy got the job and bought these two players. Even KD was not having any of that!

    ReplyDelete
  26. You are an enabler, pure and simple. When a player you like does something wrong, you condone it by referring to other players/incidents, instead of seeing the incident for what it really is. Bravo.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Barcelona don't let their young assets leave? Fabregas, Pacheco, Fran Merida, Gai Assulin, Jon Toral, Hector Bellerin. They didn't really have a choice in any of those situations. At the end of the day it is down to the player. I'm sure Pacheco would have reckoned he'd have a better chance at making the grade at Liverpool than at Barca but it never happened for him. Same goes for this kid. Does he want to give it a shot at Liverpool or does he want to take his chances in displacing Messi...

    ReplyDelete
  28. You wouldn't be saying it was trivial if, say, Joe Allen did it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Merida, Gai Assulin, Jon Toral, Hector Bellerin, Pacheco etc - where are they now?

    ReplyDelete
  30. The funniest thing is that you have to start about Suarez in a topic about some kid who plays for Barcelona...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes I am. As I have said before, you can see the foundations of what is being built, and I believe if we can get 3 or 4 really good players, then we can challenge for the top 4.
Have we had a good season this season, no. But there have been signs of a team that are capable of playing great football.
There would be no use in replacing Rodgers this summer, what will that achieve? We will have just wasted an entire season. I don't want to see Liverpool replacing managers every 6-12 months, because they havent had an instant impact.
Look at Chelsea... The only reason they have managed to stay top 4 is because Roman is so rich, he can just buy whoever he wants. Even so, they could still lose out.

    ReplyDelete
  32. should sign the number 9, created all three goals

    ReplyDelete
  33. if joe allen had done it he would have probably broke his hand, now if joe allen had done it to brendon rodgers thats a punch i would pay to see;-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. jaimie he will be dealt by with fifa it was a jab the way you carry on about it you would have thought he was tyson in his prime all geniuses have flaws ,what is the point of only ever criisizing him you say you do not ,but the negatives from you far outway the posotives but that dosen,t reflect his performances this season

    ReplyDelete
  35. And your point is? He plays for Liverpool, what he does while on international duty will have an effect on how people perceive him, which turn effects how they perceive the club he plays for.

Plus- This is a debating website.

    ReplyDelete
  36. jaimie i may well be an enabler whats wrong with putting your club before whats right and wrong ,if i wanted to read about suarez being a bad boy i would log on to a man ure site i,am sure they will all be having a field day about it,have we as a club never been cheated or worse ,i dont care how other fans from other clubs see lfc i only care about lfc

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow just wow Jason! "Putting club before what's right and wrong".

    Deuces.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You're not putting the club before what's right and wrong' you're putting the *individual* before the club. In any event, condoning stuff that's wrong just because you support LFC is wrong anyway. That's not support (IMO); It means you're happy to see the club's name sullied in the name of 'support'

    ReplyDelete
  39. The inconsistency in football gives me diarrhea. McManaman should have been sent off!!! What's worse, Nanis challenge or Mcs?

    Football is crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  40. look who we have played good football against and see were they are in the league, rodgers will be manager next season but after 10 games if the results are half as bad as this season then he has to go,one more thing cannot see us getting the players in that you hope for, without losing major players

    ReplyDelete
  41. Exactly, the inconsistency is beyony ridiculous, and until that is sorted out, players will exploit it.
I also dont think it helps that Referees never offer any explanation during the games or post game.
Players dont respect refs. But it must be frustrating as hell, just having a ref wave you away without saying anything.
They need to adopt the same approach as Rugby, at least they explain whats happening to the players, and the players actually listen and respond in calmer manner.

    ReplyDelete
  42. jaimie i have an idea lets just sack him let him leave for nothing i am sure fans of clubs all over the world will gladly have there clubs name sullied ,for the sake of suarez, come on then what should we do get rid ,and forget about any hope of champions league for the considerable future ,because i,am afraid if he leaves thats the end of any hope

    ReplyDelete
  43. I knew you would say that but that's not the point. The point was that Barca don't let their high prized assets leave but they do. They just don't have a choice because they can't tie these kids down if they want to leave. What happens to them afterwards is irrelevant because so many youngsters are talented and touted the best thing since sliced bread and they never make it. Argentina must have gone through at least four or five next Maradona's before Messi. This kid could very well choose to take a chance at Anfield because he thinks he has a better chance of reaching the first team. Personally I don't get too excited about these things. We signed Texeira from Sporting and he was going to be the next Christiano Ronaldo. Now at the age of twenty he is still in our U-21's whilst Ronaldo was already at Man U at the age of 18. So we can sign all the next Peles, Messis and Cruyffs on the planet for all I care, I won't get excited until I actually see them lining up in our first team. All this the future is red stuff is lost on me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. please explain so any player who as cheated or infringed the rules to get lfc an advantage is a wrong un

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes it's a debating website but what does Suarez on international duty have to do with the article about this kid? Nothing. You find it funny that some fans already feel compelled to defend Suarez before he's even accused of something whilst at the same time you feel compelled to have a go at him in response to a news article that has absolutely nothing to with him. My point is, stay on topic.

    ReplyDelete
  46. sorry m8 this post was always going to turn into a suarez debate my 1st post was on the topic at hand

    ReplyDelete
  47. closed fist = punch. Does not matter how hard it was. if he open handed pushed him, noone would be talking about it

    ReplyDelete
  48. There's an argument saying that the defender should not have had his arms round him - how can that be allowed in football? suarez could not breathe.
But what he did was disgusting. if you see the build up, he got tackled and the defender was shouting at him, no idea why. You could tell luis was upset & about to do something stupid. But he is seriously lucky that he didnt fall on the floor otherwise it would be 100X worse for luis.
im just appalled. Does he have no respect for himself, the game, his country or his club? it brings so many negative headlines against us, and easy ammuntition for anyone to throw. doubt he will win footballer of the year now. To be honest i could condone any of his actions except this and the biting. The Evra thing was stupidity and the non handshake embarrassing but i find this so much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I cannot disagree more, this is a huge talking point among liverpool fans and im sure that a lot of posters come on here to read other people's opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sir, Suarez plays for Liverpool. And his behavior has an effect on how people and the media view the club he plays for. I can say whatever I want under the comment policy in this site. I am not aware of any rule saying I have to stick to the topic. Overall this a LFC critical debate
site. My comment was about a player who plays for LFC.

If SG got injured on duty then we would be speaking about in this article as well. He plays for Liverpool hence it's connected directly or indirectly.

It's not like I am talking about WWE.

My point is, under the comment policy I can talking about Liverpool related matters.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes, that's 100% correct. If you were discussing an off-topic subject that Eric agreed with, he wouldn't be telling you to stay on-topic. Come on Eric, you know it's true :-)

    ReplyDelete
  52. We would all love it if Rooney or any united player had done this. It's easy ammunition in any argument. As always you have a strong opinion and stand by it, which i respect. But are you not in the least embarrassed by what he does? He certainly dirties the club name.

If he wasnt as good as he is then you would be less likely to defend him. As it is, hes one of the best in the world and we need him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I could not agree more. If it was, say, Downing.

That's the problem, a player should represent the club even while on international duty. It's just the media will have a field day with this. He has caused us enough problems this season and last.

He just need to stop doing these antics, that is all.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow, what a mouthful of a sentence?

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's 'does' not 'dose'. Don't you ever get it?

    ReplyDelete
  56. So why not put it where it belongs, with one of the two hundred articles about Suarez? By your logic, JK can basically stop posting stories because at the end of the day we're going to have people like you talking about Suarez all the time?

    ReplyDelete
  57. My opinion on Suarez has been clear for quite a while :-) He's an annoying so and so and the diving cannot and should not be excused. He is also a great football player who gives his all for every club he plays for (I've seen him at Groningen and it was no different there) and right now that happens to be us. One does not excuse the other though.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Huge is it? With all of two people talking about it? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. In between the criticising, do you find time to support as well?

    ReplyDelete
  60. They won't be. Rodgers will bring in some good players in the summer and we'll be competing next season. I just know it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. That's it - you've convinced me, Eric. I'll post an article about the Suarez punch later. After all, we can't have off-topic stuff like this happening. I'm sure the pro-Suarez brigade will thank you later :-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. and just about every single newspaper having articles on it before the match was even finished?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Agree. We'll compete next season. There's enough evidence from this suggest to have major hope for 2013-14.

    ReplyDelete
  64. rugby is run so much better than football. To me it seems the more money involved in sport the more of a farce it becomes. Just look at formula one.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think its something like european clubs cant offer professional contracts until theyre 18? Not sure on the details.. but basically english clubs can give them more money

    ReplyDelete
  66. I've seen the "punch" in the meantime. It's typical isn't it? It's not quite a punch but it's also not necessary yet he still does it. Suarez is a bit like our own Roy Keane imo. Good for you for posting a story about it though, maybe we can finally have a debate about this kid from Barca then :-p

    ReplyDelete
  67. Odd isn't it, you'd think they'd all be watching the Ingurland match.

    ReplyDelete
  68. lol give me the lottery numbers all seeing one

    ReplyDelete
  69. agree m8 but i would stand by any lfc player who plays with 100%commitment imo

    ReplyDelete
  70. eric m8 i think you was a bit harsh on FdotM he his only stating his opinion and imo is one of the more reasonable posters on here, and supports the club well he just as different opinions about certain things to certain people

    ReplyDelete
  71. sorry m8 its the wrong shaped ball for starters and talk about cheating the last game i watched they were handballs everywhere i could have sworn the ref was blind as he hardly ever blew for handball;-)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Don't worry I shall copy and paste my comments into the new article JK will write about it :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. lol i knew you could not resist ,no will power,i bet youve been like a dog with two dicks all day;-)

    ReplyDelete
  74. How does Jaimie goes from talking about a prospect to talking about Suarez??? I just think some of you need to support another team. As fans some of you are a total disgrace!!! You only love the club and it's players including the coach when we are in top 4 or winning trophies. Total disgrace!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Don't forget what John Terry did when he slept with his England's team mate's (Wayne Bridge) girlfriend (remember that)? I, for one, think its the most heinous act for a decent morally conscious human being for betraying a friend's trust, feeling and respect. Yet what did the England's manager (Capello) acted at that time? He eventually resigned because of not being able to have the choice to maintain Terry as his Captain! Did the whole Football fans community unite to scream and condemn Terry for his shameful act? Why? Because he is a decent British player. My point is, if we all can forget what Terry does, I don't think Suarez act is even at par with what Terry did. Besides, I agree that every team in the world will take Suarez at a hefty price without any hesitation or with the slightest bit of concern it will damage their club's reputation. While there is no way anyone should condone those acts, I think its not helpful to blast Suarez as an LFC fan, but let Brendan deal with him internally. Suarez aggressive nature is what makes him a special talent, while we hope those aggressiveness are absent in his sometimes erratic negative behaviour at times, yet its just a package we have to learn to accept in him. If I would to choose who to shout my loudest criticism and will make Suarez incidents much more bearable, it would surely be Alex Ferguson, who to me is the biggest hypocrite and the worst loser, who thinks the whole world is mezmerised under his success and control.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Think you should have a lie down,it seems to be getting to you! Maybe you care what happens on international duty but l would guess most LFC fans couldn't give a toss as long as it doesn't concern injuries.By the way, why worry what the media say,we've seen in the past what the media think about Liverpool and we'll see it again in the future, get used to it. Surely when you bring this up on a totally non related thread you're doing the media job on Suarez anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  77. ban him 4 life he could have killed the player a quote from the manchester evening news . 2 nd quote tyrone and neville neville are both innocent!

    ReplyDelete
  78. maybe if more players do it it might stop all the f*ckin holdin thats creepin into our game u might have started a trend luis good lad

    ReplyDelete
  79. Part of the "Pro-Suarez brigade (and anyone else who scores loads of goals for LFC) and proud.Funny not a mention of the k*ob who has his arms wrapped around Suarez ...... they know how to wind him up and then the "football writers" do the rest, disgusting witch hunt yet again!

    ReplyDelete
  80. i remember souness and dalgleish both punching opponents while playing for liverpool....bid deal its a man sport...i watch St helens at rugby leauge when i get the chance may be some on here should as well and learn what getting stuck in is all about

  81. joe allen is gonna knock 7 bells out of your keecaps ...do me a favour

    ReplyDelete
  82. i know lets all play in slippers on a field of marshmellows with every insident replayed then the game can last 6 hours....really some on here are better suited to dominoes ...the leauge i used to play in was bedlam every other game was a free for all

    ReplyDelete
  83. Can anyone tell me what happened to Marco Bueno from Pachuca? What transpired of the deal?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Since the EPL has started everyone has been crying for a quick fix and that hasn't got us anywhere!
FSG are about setting up the foundation of a string future and to have this future not for one season but, for many thereafter!
I for one can see that the play has improved! This again is setting the foundation!
It's unfortunate people are so short sighted and can't even recognize the style of football and mentality is changing at the club!
For a football club that is over 100 years old, three to five years is a very short time! Just look at Juve and how they have been able to turn things around!
Love the club and support the club first and foremost!
Negativity that supporters like you bring should be tossed out with the garbage!

    ReplyDelete
  85. So really Liverpool are tapping up Barcas yth players !!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. why should i be tossed out with the garbage you tool ,who made you god your entitled to your opinion but thats all it is an opinion.it dosen,t mean your right,or because you agree with fsg,s policeys they must be right as you cannot be wrong ,see thats your first post to me do me and you a favour do not bother again

    ReplyDelete
  87. i have replyed if it gets blocked i will not waste my time reposting to you

    ReplyDelete
  88. I agree it was caught on camera so im sure his actions will be dealt with accordingly - it doesn't affect him playing for LFC so tbh I'm not that bothered. Sure I'd prefer if he curbed his emotions but would that also curb his performances?
One more thing not condoning it but it wasn't exactly full bloodied - it was a reaction - it's not like hes a dirty player going out every week looking to win games by crippling the opposition ala Fellaini!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Exactly! He's not injured he will get punished by FIFA he hasnt done it in the EPL so why as LFC fans should we be so concerned! I'm sure he's regretting it happened cos he's been caught so its up to him to learn his lesson - I for one support him 100% zidane didn't lose the respect from peers or media when he blatantly head butted materazzi - and hes now director of football at Real Madrid!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Crazy talk - I have seen no evidence of having a dirty nature! Everyone has different personalities temperament emotion and passion. Yes its a fine line but I'd argue that LS is more guilty of reacting to provocation rather than being a player with dirty premeditated intentions. From what I've seen his first instinct is to nut someone with the ball rather than his head.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Exactly! Look at Gazza and Vinny Jones! Getting 'hands on in the oppositions box' is nothing new - defenders will do anything to stop a forward 'coming inside them' nowadays...

    ReplyDelete
  92. I disagree I don't think it makes LFC look bad rather himself.. We're not the only club with a 'bad apple' but because we are who we are it gets highlighted. I don't see any evidence on Suarez having any negative impact on the growth/development of our club rather the opposite and is helping move us forward.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Just seen a video on a non-lfc site that highlights the Chilean defender, Jaro, grabbing Suarez's nuts. I'm not condoning Suarez's actions, but it is a reason for justification (who, in the heat of the moment, wouldn't slap another bloke squeezing their plums?) and no I'm not an enabler or player worshipper, clearly Suarez should have had his head screwed on and seen it as the provocation it was. If you'll let me I'll post the link.

I'm also wondering why the Chilean player didn't react at all to the punch!?! I thought South Americans were supposed to be well known for their over-acting.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Suarez is unfortunately being judged on one bit of footage. I can guarantee that no one actually on here saw the whole game. We have no idea how much this guy was provoked during the game we have no idea if the defender whispered something bad about his family etc. Suarez is after all just a human being and yes I agree he is a professional footballer and should refrain from doing such things, but you can only be pushed so far before reacting and certain players know that Suarez will react eventually and will use this against him. The press just keep pushing and pushing showing one side of the story all the all the time, I for one would defend him for such a reaction as I would guess he was being man handled during the entire game.
Well well, just seen something online, there is a video showing something very interesting, which I doubt will be broadcast everywhere. The video is from the front side of Suarez showing the defender went for his manhood. That does it for me, if anyone was attempting to squeeze me down there he would get one too, I don't care who you are, even the Pope would react. So JK what would you say to this now. The press always hide things to get to this guy, they must have seen this footage but chose to ignore it, they are called the gutter press for a reason, do not trust any of them. I was going to put up a different argument but I really do not need to anymore

    ReplyDelete
  95. if what you say is true, and i can believe it,it still will not matter suarez is news the other player is not why let the truth get in the way of a good story;-)

    ReplyDelete
  96. and get away with it as well if an attacker starts to try and take them on at there own game its a foul, the rules need to be made crystal clear to the refs on this matter and penaltys given out that will soon stop the grappling

    ReplyDelete
  97. why slate the english its not funny i personally do not give two hoots about the national team but to slur a complete nation is stupid

    ReplyDelete
  98. I agree banging your work colleagues missus is far worse...

    ReplyDelete
  99. Exactly! It's ok for defenders to play outside the rules! And yes there has been more reaction from the media than the player! If a bloke started playing with another guys nuts without consent - well then he runs the the risk of getting his lights turned out in my book

    ReplyDelete
  100. Imagine if Lucas had left and we were left with Poulsen *shudders*

    ReplyDelete
