'It's a great club' - Exciting €6m La Liga star 'pleased' with LFC link. Bid...?

Valencia star Aly Cissokho has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last year, and in an interview today, the central defender admitted that he's flattered to once again be linked with a move to Anfield.

Speaking to French newspaper Le Parisien, Cissokho acknowledged the Reds' interest, and made it clear he's love to move to the Premier League. He enthused:

"I've never hidden the fact that the English league is the one that attracts me the most.

"It's pleasing to see my name linked to Liverpool. They're a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt"

In June 2012, Cissokho's Agent, Fabrizio Ferrari admitted that 'English clubs have been observing the player', and soon afterwards, Lyon released a tetchy statement insisting that the player would not be allowed to leave on the cheap. It read:

"Negotiations with clubs [over Cissokho] will not begin for less than €11m [£9m]. Lyon would like to remind clubs that Aly Cissokho has played 91 Ligue 1 and 29 Champions League matches at the club and became an international for France"

Cissokho ultimately signed for Valencia in a €6m deal, but prior to the move, Ferrari confirmed that 25-year old still coveted a move to the Premier League. He told France Football:

"Aly wishes to discover a new challenge. If he has to stay he will and will do his job, but if there is an opportunity he will seize it. The priority is England or Italy. However, there have been no concrete offers as yet".

Cissokho only signed a four-year deal with Valencia in August 2012, so it seems unlikely they'd let him go after only one season. However, money talks, and if Liverpool make the right offer, anything is possible.

Worth a bid in the summer?

  2. i havent seen him much, but he seems to be a good defender, at many parts similar to enrique. Enrique does many diect balls forward to suarez and sturridge which is good IMO, and he proved that hes class the last games, but hes short passing is really poor..

Cissokho is fast and powerfull would fit in the system and would be a great addition to the squad and - most important - a competition for enrique who has no real rivalry at LB.

  3. he was amazing for porto but his career has stalled since then. i think he would be worth a bid though, we definitely need another left back to compete with enrique.

  4. quality left backs always seem hard to come by...dont they? I dont really know much about the guy but he seems like a decent back up for enrique

  5. Also sounds like it would take too much money. He does look like a BR player but no better or worse than Enrique

  6. Agree with you about needing competition for Enrique, but Cissokho would probably take too much of our budget just for competition. Andre Wisdom had a good game at leftback the other night for the under 21's, could be interesting!

  7. Defensive investment is a must this summer for CB, LF, RB and GK.
I hope Kelly would be seeing some game time soon.

  8. I'm sure Kelly and wisdom (or at least one of them) will be the 3rd CB and the other one will be used as a rb backup for johnson. They are both solid defenders, so why shouldn't we use them

I would like to see agger proving how class he is, and starting to lead the backline just as Carrra did all the time. With JC retiring, its important someone doing that job, and you can't expect that from the new cb that will pair with agger, and cover the 2 cb spots.

  9. Can't see any other rb comming in. We have enough players to fill the spot

  10. I think there are not many better lb out there we could afford.

  11. Andre Wisdom as LB?not so sure about this, think hes suited the best in one of the CB spots, with kelly comming back, one of Wisdom and Kelly will play CB again, im pretty sure.Think wisdon is just playing LB to gain experience all over the pitch, so hes getting a more flexible player.

  12. Coates needs a run of games to be judged properly, he only gets the odd game which isn't fair. He was named young player of the Copa America don't forget, he is a big lad who needs to play. Kelly, Wisdom, Sama etc are very good strong defenders so why not give them their chance?, we need to be brave and let them step up!!!

  13. Class player. Lightning fast. If we could get him then we should definitely go for him.

  14. Buck is slowly removing Commoli's players. Coates is finished here. Sad his chances to prove his worth was never there.

  15. Barca want's Agger. Should we sell or keep?

  16. LFC should have signed him years ago, can get up & down the wing. Attack minded. Wisdom is out of his comfort zone past the half way line!

  21. NO!! why should we sell all our defenders? carrager retiring, skrtel and coates out of favour. So only one proven Defender.. why should we sell him? He fits the system perfect and loves liverpool.
