Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has denied accusations that he conducted an interview with The S*n this weekend.
Many news providers are carrying Enrique's comments about Peter Odemwingie, and in some of them (most notably Sky Sports) the comments are prefaced by the intro phrase: 'He told The S*n'.
Enraged by the suggestion that he would have anything to do with the S*n, Enrique tweeted:
"Just to let people know. I DONT make any interview for the sun.
"They take this interview from others news papers. One mistake is enough"
There's no reason to disbelieve the Spaniard, and having done some quick research, it appears the interview originated in The Mirror.
It's unclear, however, what Enqrique means when he states 'one mistake is enough'. To what does this refer? Could it be that he thinks he made a mistake with the comments he made in the interview? Of Odemwingie, Enrique said:
"I'm not the type of player who would wind him up. But there will be songs and he will get it from other players. They will try to make him angry. I'm not this type of player. But a lot of players will do it."
Nothing to be ashamed of there. Perhaps he refers to his comments about Brendan Rodgers, made in the same interview:
"When the manager said what he did, of course I was angry. It had never happened to me before and it was not good that he said his comments in the press. I didn’t want to be finished at Liverpool. It was not nice to read what he said, but I tried to take it in a good way and do my best. I still don’t think the manager did it the right way"
This could be taken as a public attack on Rodgers, which is a little ironic considering Enrique's gripe with the manager is public criticism (!) I don't think he has anything to worry about though. I agree with him - Rodgers shouldn't have criticised him in public.

Too right!
ReplyDeleteJaimie you are a tool
ReplyDeleteHaha
ReplyDeleteWhy do you need to insult him? No need for it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the worse pool site iv been on shame on u Jamie shame on u........
ReplyDeleteGiven how the media twist every word players/manager say in interviews, he could consider it as a mistake to have given an interview at all.
ReplyDeletegaffers alwayas got final word, fergie does it,and hes the best manager in the world.so shut up and play, jose!!!!
ReplyDeletenot really much more to say here
ReplyDeleterogers has a habit of airing his laundry in public .....the problem with that is everyone can see what your wearing ....its not a good sign when several first team players are unhappy about this and eventually it will come to a head...if rogers cant take it he shouldn't give it...you have to imagine that all these players talk to each other and it can cause factions..IMO jonjo downing jose skirlel and hendo assadi and carroll if he comes back have all been ostricsed thats one large group of player power to have against you hardly good for moral
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie is there a way I can see if someone has replied to my comment or do I have to go back to the article and find it manually?
ReplyDeleteIsnt he referring to the deliberate mistake done by the S*n in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster? One mistake is enough
ReplyDeleteBut Jamie, so what if he dfoes speak to the Sun, maybe it aint the Sun of 1989! Stop fucking shit stiriing, have you got nothing better to do, than try and attract wb hits for your advertisement?
ReplyDeleteJamie, stop moderating comment's, let people speak their mind!
ReplyDeleteSo what if he was speaking to the sun, can't you move on from 1989?
ReplyDeleteHow many adverts have you on your website? fabulous flowers, what has that got to do with LFC?
ReplyDeleteDoes it matter what paper they speak to, are you the footbal interview policeman?
ReplyDeleteHe was referring to a previous interview with the S** which was a big mistake.
ReplyDeleteEnrique spoke to that tabloid last year when he didn't know that was a big NO NO in Liverpool and he apologised for that and declared he learnt a lesson but needed understanding as he was new to the club and City.
ReplyDeleteI presume he now means he would not repeat the mistake of doing an interview with them again.
give rodgers a break jamie. we could be still stuck with dalglish and trying to live even more in the past than most fans already do. support him and the team and this time next year we will be challenging for a champions league spot!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Fergie would deal with Enrique if he was at United.....?
ReplyDeleteBenched....and probably shipped out...?
Its a lose lose for BR though at LFC because we have supporters who are siding with players AGAINST the manager....
Hardly any wonder why we are where we are.....when we allow (foreign) players to dictate what manager THEY want at the Club by inadvertantly criticizing/undermining/unsettling... the present manager....im sure THEY won't be happy until they have Benitez back at the Club....
And lets be honest about this shall we.. Enrique's form has been fairly questionable in terms of him being consistent....So, he should be working hard at ironing out his own weaknesses...BEFORE criticising the manager's....
dream on give give me kenny anyday
ReplyDeleteyou critisize enriques form but completely overlook the managers form lol get real if wba beat us tomorrow were toast and who,s fault will that be not enriques
ReplyDeleteHi Niallor - the best thing to do is sign up for a Disqus account, here: http://disqus.com/dashboard/#account - This way, you can set notification preferences for whatever you like.
ReplyDeleteIf you post as a gues, you can click the 'subscribe to this thread' link (above the comment box), but it's easier just to sign up to Disqus.
And YOU criticise Rodger's yet defend Kenny....as far as im concerned BOTH managers have been let down by the players, you could also include Hodgson in that equation, that's THREE managers who have been blamed for our INCONSISTENT form....One of which (Kenny) you defend....
ReplyDeleteYou see, your argument is not consistent.....
Where as mine is....
Okay thanks m8 :)
ReplyDeletei think he is just on about the mistake of speaking to them last year, and nothing to do with the other two suggestions
ReplyDeleteNobody likes being criticised but at some point when people complain he Praises the team too much then suddenly its unfair to criticise them, how can the manager win?
ReplyDeleteHe could just ignore and be rude to the reporters asking the question, oh wait thats what everyone complained about when KD did it.
No winning
fergie will throw hos boots at him if had spoken in this manner. Jose have to learn from mistakes. Does not mater what BR says what matters is on the field. Jose please have confidence and keep on improving. We love you.
ReplyDeleteHe's past it, I still don't understand what you see in him that makes him better than Rodgers.
ReplyDeleteAnd you keep on defend kenny and refuse to back BR from day one... Is this LFC or KennyFC (not KFC lol)... And based on what exactly? I assumed you will say "league cup winner and two cup finals". Well lets see, do you happen to know which teams will play in league cup final this year? Yeah, such a world class team arent they?
ReplyDeleteI think these spoilt players should keep their mouths shut and just play football. Some of the the things they say just makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteThat goes for Rodgers as well. He always mouths out too much details on tactics and club issues to the press
They should all just shut the fcuk up and get on with what they are paid to do
what have you seen the league ?and if wba beat us tonight they will go past us ,never mind at least under rodgers we have the demestic cup finals to look forward to oops were out of them to
ReplyDeletesorry mr consistancy think you will find ive always said it will end in tears with rodgers from day 1
ReplyDeletehow did we get in europe last year?and which team are you on about in the final, swansea who knocked us out or brave little bradford who battered villa over two legs in the semi the same villa who have only managed to batter us all season
ReplyDeleteRead this yesterday myself and it was a bit stupid from Enrique as he criticises Rodgers for speaking about him in public but in the next sentence he said that it worked and he recaptured his form. Shame on the manager for using a tactic that worked.
ReplyDeleteI think Brandon was bang on. He just said what everyone was thinking and now Enrique is one of our best players. He needed telling. He's now showing the form that he had in his last year at Newcastle. Great management. Brandon did the same with Hendo and Downing. Hendo looks like a man possessed when he takes to the field, and Downing is playing to the best of his ability (Still not sure it's good enough!). The future is bright.
ReplyDeleteIt's the manager's job to give it; the players' jobs to listen......
ReplyDeletePlus, as long as he's not wearing ladies underwear, what has he got to hide his laundry for?
I'm pretty sure the same people would be moaning if he said nothing at all.
The life of Brendan eh?......
There are some very respectable people in the game complimenting BR and LFC on their improvements on the pitch.
ReplyDeleteSteve Clarke has even gone as far to say, Liverpool are probably at present, playing the best football in the league right now.
We will always get differences of opinion. Only hindsight will show which opinion was correct.
And that hasn't come to pass yet, so quit your death-riding of the club and maybe try cheering for Liverpool. You never know, you might like it.
ReplyDeleteJason Carr stop living in the past and support the future of Liverpool fc, you are on here 24/7 slagging Of Brendan Rodgers the chap is only 39 and can only get better with more time and more investment, it took Alex Ferguson 7 years before they won there first title under him and look at them now 12 titles later could be 13 this year, Liverpool are playing Beautiful passing and moving football at the moment under Rodgers, we could'nt score goals last season under Kenny and it was just hoof football and hope for the best, Suarez scored feck all goals under Kenny and is flourishing under Rodgers new philosophy and banging in the goals, so stop being an armchair fan and be a real reds fan and get behind the team and manager peace YNWA
ReplyDeleteIm sure enrique knows the position of the club and its supporters on this rag,and cant see him doing any interview. Wouldn't be too concerned on any stick Odemwingie gets either, im sure it will be nothing he wont have heard off his own team mates already.
ReplyDeleteno m8 i will not stop living in the past this season as been the worst in my living memorey 40 years,i,ve never slagged lfc of before and believe me i will fight there cause against any other clubs fans but the fact is we have been awful to many times this season in fact some games villa west brom oldham ect awful is to kind a word, and what his age got to do with it hes not got any expeirence and re fergie he had done extremely well before he went to man ure rodgers has done what, and don,t think he transformed swasnsea when we played them this season there were only 2 of his signings on the pitch he inherited the team and now laudrop as improvrd them
ReplyDeleteor the year after or maybe the one after that i know lets just keep rodgers till he decides to retire and wollow in self pity
ReplyDeletewhat planet do you live on how is this season more successful than last please explain this to me,maybe its rodgers signings leaving or warming the bench ,maybe its not having to play extra games in the domestic cups so that we can save the players to try and qualify for next seasons europa league
ReplyDeleteGet a job Jason
ReplyDeleteIt's not that hard, fella. No one cares about the League Cup. Not really. Unless you're an Arsenal fan and want those trophy drought taunts to end. So if we can finish anywhere from 4th-7th in the league with the combination of Suarez, Gerrard and Sturridge improving all the time and the rest of the youngish squad spending valuable time on the pitch - plus the immiment addition of other acquistions (including hopefully the signing of Begovic) - then the far-seeing Liverpool fan can see past the £100m spunked away under the last administration and hope there are better times, albeit more frugal, times ahead.
ReplyDeleteget a life a££hole
ReplyDeletehenderson is better than allen downings better than borinni and enriques better than the other rodgers signings(sturridge apart) put together so finishing 7th in the leagues is better than last season ,dream on
ReplyDeleteHenderson and Downing were hopeless last season, and are now competent under Rodgers. That's a Carragher-like own goal right there, fella.
ReplyDeletewhys it a own goal theve had time to gel a bit like your asking for rodgers time, and m8 if we lose tonight we will be 9th ,yes 9th its not a typing error 9th for f"ck sake, and hes got no cups to worry about
ReplyDeleteWhy, you're quite the eloquent chap, aren't you? So you're happy to let Henderson and Donwning have time to gel, but not Rodgers. Mr Consistency you are.
ReplyDeleteJason Carr I bet your a manc fan on here only to stir the sh*t, only a true red would support there team true thick and thin and any manger that managed them, never met such a negative fan, only one word gob sh*te
ReplyDeleteJason Carr is one angry Liverpool supporter.
ReplyDeleteI think looking at it, with the players we have, we should be pushing top four. I'm not happy with Rodgers, but I am prepared to give him time. I'm also happy to give Allen time too. I honestly do feel that although SG is having a blinder, when he retires in two-three years, henderson & Allen will be approaching 24/25 years old and ready to take the mantle of our midfield along with Lucas who just improves game by game.
With Sturridge, Suarez and Coutinho I think we are looking good. But please dont expect us to hit the top four, like I said for another 2-3 years.
Get used to the fact that we are no longer a top 6 side either.
I've just realised I am a hypocrit. Apologies.
ReplyDeleteSee I said you were the figure of hate haha
ReplyDeleteI beg to differ mate I think BR should not say our issues out in public, he is immature, lets hope he stops
ReplyDeletegreetings to all & our Jamie, is good to be back--LFC
ReplyDeleteI`m not sure if we should be top four, but agree pushing for it. On paper, I think City, Man Utd, and Chelsea all 100% have better teams/squads. Arsenal? Spurs? I dunno, be interesting to see the average first 11 for each side to see which players would be picked from all three for a combined 11 to see which team has more players in it, and see which team on paper should take that fourth spot.
ReplyDeleteEverton are a funny one, as on paper, every year I have them lower ranked than they finish. Every team below that though we def have a better team on paper.
I think we wont get it this year, as the 9 point gap is too much to make up. If we were winning every game, then maybe, but as we aren`t, I can`t see us winning 3 more games than spurs, and then both Everton and Arsenal slipping up to. Out of the games left. I would though be happy if we got close, so it at least felt like a push for fourth.
Depending on what we do in the summer, I think we could be in with a shout next year. If we get a new keeper in and a new CB. to strengthen our defence then e should be more balanced. The attack looks good now, and we have a few options there two. We have shipped in too many goals from keeper and CB errors this year. Of course all keepers and CB`s will make mistakes, but we have made one to many, esp from set pieces.
i hve broad enough shoulder someones got to be and while there trying to pick on me there leaving someone else alone lpl;-)
ReplyDeleteWhy does JK rework so many LFC stories in a negative way as if he wants to air any dirty laundry? If you are a genuine Liverpool fan why even post this non-story? Why then try and surmise that it could be a veiled attack on BP? Why not post something that is totally positive and uplifting instead of constantly looking for problem areas inside LFC....and trying to link them to every other player from every other club in transfer gossip. Lets have some good news for a change please!
ReplyDeleteOk.. 1. I had full respect for swansea and bradford. They deserved to be there. 2. I was happy when we won the LC last year. 3. I also love KD.. My point is, every team can win the LC and FA cup. Lets see, you constantly say that we accept mediocrity by support BR n FSG. But you defend KD based on LC n FA cup. Isnt that the same mediocrity? So by your logic, if bradford win the LC this year, would you like their manager to take over at anfield? Cause hes so great, he won the LC after all. Now forget LC n FA for awhile... let compares the time both manager had, the performance of the team progressively, the amount of money both managers spend on player (no need for net spent), .etc.. i cant see in what aspects that kds better than brs.
ReplyDeleterodgers has all the players kenny had and also the luxery of all his own signingand why is there no need for net spend ,because that makes them a lot closer on spending, and also in kennys defence were would rodgers be if suarez had ,had his ban this season, and not every club can get to both domestic cup finals in the same season history will show you different
ReplyDeleteyeah six home wins last season under Kenny are you for real man he lost the plot and hadn't got a clue, you are such a negative fan that's if you are even Liverpool fan, I bet you are a Manc fan on here just stir thing's with the real red fans, you keep banging on about the two cup finals he got us too, big deal, Laudrup got Swansea to there first final in there history does that make him God....lol, If the League had of started in January 2012 under Kenny he would have got us relegated, so for the real red fans here in Brendan we trust.. no matter who the manager is get behind and back him all the way until the board decides other wise.....YNWA
ReplyDeletebut the league dose not start in jan dose it but the season finished in febuary this season
ReplyDeleteSimple question: would a private word in JE's ear have had the same effect? Indeed, how do you know BR hadn't already tried a quiet private word? Sometimes these things need to come out in the open so everyone knows where we stand. This idea that somehow we should keep everything behind closed doors is a nonsense.
ReplyDeleteBR gave three players ultimatums. He did it in different ways as he felt fit. The result was all three players starting to play better. Simple conclusion: it was the right thing to do :o)
KD, an undisputed legend and rightly so, bought those three players and did not get them playing well. He had plenty of private chats but nothing worked. BR has achieved what KD failed to do, end of story.
The likes of Carr trying to make out they are good fans yet admitting that he had made his mind up that BR wouldn't work on Day 1 shows he's just a biased hypocrite so worth ignoring. Haven't seen him speak a word of sense so why give him the satisfaction of arguing with him?
The team has developed over the second half of this season and is playing the best football we have seen in the last couple of years. Will we maintain this improvement? Let's just hope so and keep positive. YNWA
yes it f*cking does. ANY player who directly deals with that scummy rag, should be sold on at the earliest given chance. if you are a liverpool fan, and judging by the question, i would doubt it, but if you are, do you know anything about lfc fans and the history with that ba*tard publication?????????? get a f*cking grip.
ReplyDeletetry top 10 side m8:-(
ReplyDeletepeople like you didn't give Kenny a second period chance, so your useless rodgers won't take any as well mate
ReplyDeleteYeah.. Cause im the one who sacked kd... Did you have a magic crystal ball? Who said i didnt support kd?? I told jason that i also love kd.. All im saying is, try to support lfcs manager please, at least give him 1-2full season.. Hes been here for just about 7months.. And lfc sack kd after 1,5 season.. So whats your point anyway.. If after two season we doesnt show any sign of improvement or getting worse, then maybe ill agree with you..
ReplyDeleteAmen brother
ReplyDelete
