After the loan capture of Liverpool defender Danny Wilson, Scottish Premier Club Hearts have set their sights on signing Reds striker Michael Ngoo, another promising Anfield youngster.
According to a report in the Edinburgh Evening News today:
"Liverpool's Michael Ngoo is...being monitored by Hearts.
"The 20-year-old has been watched several times by the Hearts manager John McGlynn and director of football John Murray in recent months".
Danny Wilson is convinced that Ngoo will be a success in the SPL, and he's urged the 6'4 striker to leave Anfield to get first team football. He told the Daily Express:
"He is at Liverpool but is maybe not going to get an opportunity. It would be good for him to get out and sample some first-team football. He is a good player and a great guy and I can understand why teams would be looking at him”
After joining Liverpool in September 2009, Ngoo scored 15 goals in 21 games for Liverpool’s under-18s in season 2010/11, which earned him promotion to the club’s reserve squad.
Rodgers rates Ngoo, and after watching him in a reserve game recently, he enthused:
"I love his [Ngoo's] attitude. He’s a funny player, Michael. He’s unorthodox, but effective, and he’s a real nuisance around the six yard box. He hasn’t been up to train with us as much as he would’ve liked, but he gives 100% every single game. He’s going to have a good career in the game".
Earlier this season, Liverpool legend John Aldridge tipped Ngoo for called for Ngoo to be given a chance in the first team. He told the Liverpool Echo:
"Michael Ngoo might get a senior call-up. Ngoo is a powerful lad with a presence about him. He has had a really good season for the under-21s and, despite his size, is better on the floor. I believe he could do a decent job"
The arrival of Daniel Sturridge would seem to put the stoppers on Ngoo's potential involvement in the first team, and a loan move at this stage would probably make sense for his development.

Would be a great move for the lad gain experience in a league with tough defenders and get him some first team game time, Hearts are a great club for developing young players.
ReplyDeleteHeadline is abit misleading if I'm honest lol
ReplyDeleteI like the lad. There's something different about him, it's like he's mastered being clumsy. Loan probably would be the best option.
ReplyDeleteincredibly misleading lol
ReplyDeleteHe's strong for his age, dont know him well enough to say he's ready but you can also spend too long in the reserves.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest i think EVERY player around that age should be loaned out as much as possible to see of they can do a job. Its like they learn their trade in the youth set-ups and reserve and then put it into practice somewhere if they arent ready to get a look in at anfield. I'd like to have seen players like Wilson and Pacheco playing in the prem to see if they could cut it before they inevitably leave. We could of done it with Thomas Ince and saved a few quid.
ReplyDeleteIve not seen much of him but if aldo & others rate him why not loan him out, just hope we dont flog him for 250 grand & then decide to buy him back for 6 million
ReplyDeleteAgreed. There is no experience like playing experience. Get out
ReplyDeleteI think much better if LFC can loan out Micheal Ngoo with any premier league clubs. Why not try with Spurs or West Bromwich Albion?
ReplyDeleteAs he will most definitely get first team action at Hearts, I'd like to think that it is a good idea going there on loan. They could do with Pacheco, too, I guess.
ReplyDeleteYou're having a laugh, right. Why would Spurs want any of our reserves on loan? They have promising youngsters coming through themselves.
ReplyDeleteif there not getting 1st team game time why not loan them out, better getting experience and competative game time against stronger players
ReplyDeletehe is a good player.. and if continues to improve can be like emile heskey
ReplyDeleteWould be a good loan move. We have to accept that not all of these youngsters we like will make it at the club. With guys like Sturridge coming in, there just isn't enough room for all of them. If you compare where Sturridge was at that age and where Ngoo is, it could also be a matter of just not being good enough to cut it at a top club. There is no shame in that. I'm sure the lad can have a brilliant career wherever he goes. I like players with his direct approach so I hope he will still make it with us but I can't see it. A permanent move across the border will stifle his development imo but a six month loan may help him to be noticed by other Premiership sides.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Jambo and would love to see Ngoo at our club. It suits both sides. We have a signing embargo in pkace where we can only bring in under 21 players and are cryibng out for a striker so he would definitely get a lot of game time. It suits Liverpool because they can get an idea of what this lad is all about. Anthony stokes spent 6 months at Falkirk onjm loan from arsenal and was sold to Sunderland for over a million after banging the goals ion regularly. If Liverpool cant find a space for him in theor first team squad then this is the perfect shop window.
ReplyDeleteThe only stumbling block will be the wages as 'Pool will have to cough up the vast majority of his wages - part of our embargo stipulates that he must be on less than a player who leaves (that player being Peter Enckelman). We akso have a cup semifinal on saturday so the quicker the better
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUIS SUAREZ!
ReplyDeleteDont insult the young lad.
ReplyDeleteJaimie is there any chance you could do an article about the Hazard incident last night? Obviously it's not Liverpool related but it would be interesting to hear everyone's opinions.
ReplyDeleteAnd while you're at it a damning article about Adam Le Fondre's blatant handball goal demanding a rematch for Newcastle United branding ALF a cheat of all mankind who should be shot to the moon for this grave injustice...
ReplyDeleteHearts are a great club with a fantastic support and seem able to produce players and let them have experience in the SPL before moving them on. Would be a great idea for Ngoo to go there on loan and play in the SPL.
ReplyDeleteI watched the interview when Rodgers said he would have a "good career in the game". From his body language it suggested that "good career" would be elsewhere.
ReplyDeletejaimie kanwar, what a c**t.
ReplyDeleteCelt?
ReplyDeleteWell, I was born in Scotland...
He probably should go and get experience. If he doesn't do it when he is 20 when will he?
ReplyDeleteLol,...five minutes later still, lol. Guess this is the funniest comment I've ever seen you make.
ReplyDeleteNonsense. This Suarez thing is such a myth. Hazard has been absolutely slated by the media over this, both here and abroad (do a google search).
ReplyDeleteIf Suarez had done this, I wouldn't have written a thing about it, mainly because I blame the ball-boy, not the player. It's not an act of cheating, it's a retaliation brought on by frustration, and that's something I can understand.
When Suarez gave Fulham fans the finger last season, I didn't write anything about it. It was wrong, but it's not in the same league (IMO) as cheating, and that's the thing I hate the most about football.
