Quit now: Savage urges 'fantastic' LFC star to leave Anfield ASAP. Summer exit...?

With only one goal in the last seven games, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is in the midst of a mini-goal drought, and it has come at a time in the season when the Reds need his goals the most. To compound this, recent defeats against Aston Villa and Stoke City have damaged the club's hopes of making the top four, and the brutal reality is that Liverpool's chances of playing in next season's Champions League are decreasing from week to week. A player of Suarez's ability deserves to showcase his skills in European club football's elite competition, but he may have to move away to do that, and former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage has urged the Uruguayan to do just that.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Savage hailed Suarez's 'fantastic' ability, and dismissed Liverpool's chances of winning anything of significance anytime soon, and urged the Uruguayan to follow Robin Van Persie's example. He said:

"Suarez is fantastic. He’s got that bit of nastiness that every top player has, but at Liverpool, he’s got to look at the situation: can he win stuff?

"The Capital One Cup in years to come. Can he win the Premier League? No. Are Liverpool going to challenge for the Champions League? No.

"Van Persie looked at the Arsenal squad and though: ‘I’ve got more chance of winning stuff somewhere else’, and I think Luis Suarez will be in the same boat".

Suarez recently signed a new deal, but if the Reds don't finish in the top four this season then, inevitably, a whole host of top clubs will enter the race to sign him. If that happens, there's a strong possibility that the Uruguayan could leave:

* Suarez will be 26 in the summer, entering the prime of his career. A move to a top Champions League club could prove to be irresistible.

* A club could come in with such a massive offer that FSG decide to cash-in.

* Torres left LFC to win trophies; it happened once, it can happen again.

Suarez has professed his wish to stay at Liverpool 'for years', but this is modern football, and player promises of 'loyalty' are often not worth the air into which they are uttered.

I couldn't blame Suarez for leaving though; players only get one career, and at the moment, he's wasting his at Liverpool.

Harsh, but true.

  1. Spot on I would not blame him if he woke up in the morning and put in a transfer request, the team are in decline and have been for years and the apparent new signings are not the quality ones we desperately need, and we are been managed by a bloke who is not going to take us anywhere anytime soon so as much as it pains me to say it I think Suarez should go it would be a real shame to have a second career wasted at our club, Gerrard spent all his career trying to make us genuine front runners every season and though there were a few highs for a player of his undoubted quality there were no were near enough, so do yourself a favour Suarez and join a club with real ambition, just don't join another premier league club please.

  2. Oh yes, that wise old sage Robbie Savage. As soon as he mentions Suarez leaving, he gets the honour of a thread on Liverpool Kop..

Never mind that Suarez has, only last week, done an extensive interview saying how happy he is at Liverpool.

    Never mind the new contract.

Never mind that we are only halfway through the season.

    Bandwagon . Again.

    Harsh, but true.

  3. Haha little does Savage know that our dry spell will be very short lived as we're about to add the phenom that is Franco di Santo to our ranks! CL and PL domination here we come!

  4. I know That these articles are written controversially to maximise responses but unfortunately this is a very short sighted article. Suarez like it or not is still playing for o e of the best supported most globally recognised clubs in the world. He played in 2 finals last year and won a trophy. He also sees something in Rodgers and our future that's leading to him signing a new deal. Dido Hamman labelled Rodgers a managerial genius recently. Within a couple of years lfc will be challenging at the top again!

  7. Savage has never shown any loyality. More clubs than I have in my golf bag !. A contract obviously means very little to this overpaid, female presenter !!!.

ave always said its just a matter of time before Suarez says bye bye..which will definitely not be his fault , whenever we have a game i only see two Liverpool players against 11 of the other side.its really embarrassing the kind of players that we are even linked to.(either bench warmers or below average)

  12. i honestly wouldn't blame him ....he has give 100% since day one ....hes not gonna win anything with this clown rogers..we could poss get another 50m for him then rogers could buy leon britton for 25m and de sante for 25m

    ReplyDelete
  13. this is the same hamman who wants us to buy de sante

  14. I wouldn`t think bad of him for leaving, the club has been in a mess for about three years. For one reason or the other, we seem to be telling the world we are only mid table now, I think this is down to not wanting fans over-hyped, but I think it has also reflected on players we sign etc. We don`t match his ambition, and even though I support Rodgers, putting him in charge by FSG was a massive sign to the world that LFC for the next few seasons at least, aren`t on the map as we are trying something new. I would say you got maybe a min of 4 seasons ahead were re-shaping will be taking place. (my own view is re-shaping wont work in the prem).

    ReplyDelete
  15. but they sacked the manager who got him into two finals and europe.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'd be quite happy to see the back of the guy tbh, & he can take Reina with him.

As long as we replace him/them with some quality i couldn't care less....

BIG shake up at the Club is whats needed, must sound like a stuck record but thats exactly where we are at atm...STUCK IN A BIG BOTTOMLESS RUT...

Consistency is the key to success.....

    ReplyDelete
  17. True, but at the end of the day, Suaraz wasn`t born in Liverpool, he has no need to stay loyal to us. He is a employee, and if the company he works for aren`t performing well, why shouldn`t he look for a new place to work. Yes he gets paid well, but so do i (not on his scale ovs lol), and if a different company wanted me to do what I do, for them, for more money, I would.

    ReplyDelete
  18. gilstrap - I'd appreciate it if you'd please refrain from personally insulting Rodgers ('clown'). Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Not sure I entirely agree with that argument - why sign a contract ?.

    ReplyDelete
  20. we wont replace with quality though we will replace with crap to suit rogers fanny about with the ball and get caught in possession and stuffed style

    ReplyDelete
  21. And why would a host of top clubs enter a chase for Suarez if he ain't wc? Because he is a prospect?!?

    ReplyDelete
  22. They work both ways. The main reason for a contract is to provide a transfer fee for the selling club. That is about it, it also gives the player money if he breaks his leg and can`t play.

So if you were offered say twice as much to do your current job, just a few miles up the road, same hours, you would turn it down?

Clubs will ditch players as soon as they arent performing, so why shouldnt players ditch clubs.

    ReplyDelete
  23. and anyone with half a brain's view that reshaping in the prem doesn't work....passing about at the back in the muddy wet weather hahahhah what a joke.......conceding corners with a team full of midgets ahhahahahah....expecting forwards to track back and defend when they have never tackled anyone in there life hahahahahahha swapping players around each week because no one knows what there doing hahahahahha....thing is zanatos im really laughing its f*cking hilarious

    ReplyDelete
  24. He is the only player who scores lol. Looking at previous transfers I wouldnt be to sure he would be replaced with good players.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Selling our better players is certainly not going to improve things. Additional striking support is critical, selling players of that quality would be the final nail in our wafer thin coffin.

    ReplyDelete
  26. perhaps he wants to stay and read rogers 180 page dossier on the art of football ....opening sentance.....football is played with a round ball...you have 11 players on a team...you have a glass of pop at half time...you put you jumpers down for nets....try and not to stand in dog shit....

  28. This is the same bloke who was berating Liverpool for "selling" Tom Ince so cheaply the other week. Never mind the fact that Ince was out of contract, offered new ones and Liverpool had no choice. He's in the media now and needs to make rent a gob comments. Suarez will leave eventually and when he does we'll pocket a nice fee but it won't be because a ridiculous fool like Savage says so.

    ReplyDelete
  29. total dalglish flops = £ 91.89

    ReplyDelete
  30. its not my style normally to personally insult ...and perhaps the word clown was over qualifying him so ill stick to BR from now on point taken

    ReplyDelete
  31. sorry total dalglish flop 75.34 million pounds the first figure is in euro

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't agree. Contracts are signed by both parties, stipulating terms and conditions ie. a period of time for £ X's wages. If a club wishes to sell a player, then the player has an option to accept or reject the sale. ie. Portsmouth FC etc.... Hopefully this is hyperthetical and it never arises in the Suarez contract.

    ReplyDelete
  33. minus the money he got for Torres and babbel 55m...and no offense if allens a 15m player hendo is an 18m player all day long

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nice list, the problem is that all managers get it wrong in the transfer market sometimes yet Guardiola has 14 trophies to show for his mistakes whereas Dalglish has one and an insignificant one at that.

    ReplyDelete
  35. well its got us into europe for a start

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sadly, I can see him leaving as well.
You can see his frustration increasing, and I can't blame him.

I cannot for the life of me understand the reasoning in surrounding him with English players.
He's forced to do everything by himself because those players essentially don't understand how to play with him.

Last time he looked really happy was when we had a forward group of Maxi, Suarez, Kuyt and Meireles.
Now those guys knew how to pull a defense apart and score goals.
We played some great attacking football back then.
To this day I'm at a loss to understand why Kenny changed that system.

If he goes he has my blessing, I hold no grudges, we're going nowhere fast.
And we really don't need Suarez to be a mid-table club.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The player I hope to leave asap is assaidi, honestly such a great talent the winger we missed for ages and rodgers treating him as pure sh.i.te, and now hes gone to african cup which is great at least he will play some games there, hope he finds a new club in jan. Where he could show his qualities, as for suarez if he leaves will never call him a traitor he is actually wasting his career here with full of average players and a clueless manager I wouldnt mind if even gerrard leaves, people wanna win things its enough lfc are not good enough simple as that thanks to the brilliant owners we ve had over the past years and now

    ReplyDelete
  38. So you wouldn`t take the job offer? As if you would why should a footballer be different?

Also, sure in theory, but if a player doesnt want to be at a club, why would you force him to stay there and unsettle the rest of your team? If a player wishes to leave, the club also has the option of saying no. It is no different.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree, I didnt say I wanted to sell him, but I wouldn understand why he could leave, there is a difference

    ReplyDelete
  40. Robbie savage? What do the bee gees know about football?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I just think re-shaping takes too long, unless you are re-shaping your academy. By the time you have re-shaped, your top players will have got bored of wasting there career at your club and move on. Your new bread of youngsters will also leave just like what happens at Arsenal. Re-shaping only works if you win while you are doing it.

The pitches we play on though arent that bad, its not like sunday league stuff, so the rain and mud aint to much of a problem. Nothing wrong with the idea of pass football, but it has to be done right, which currently I don`t think we are. We are way to slow with both counter and build up play. It should also mainly be used to kill games off, not to start them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. spot on. Fergie makes a few whoopers, but he wins the league a lot, so it is ok. Our problem is we make mistake after mistake and don`t win. We have spent more than Man utd over the last 20 years, yet are miles off them, this just highlights how bad our scouting/managers have been when it comes to transfers.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It is the owners fault we brought Borni, Allen, Downing, Henderson Caroll or the managers fault? FSG have put in loads of money, and backed each manager, personally I couldnt ask for more from them

    ReplyDelete
  44. nice one mate, good to see a proper fan on here, gerrard has won everything with us bar the league, we need more players like luis, not less.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well, im not going to write Rodgers off just yet, for me it is unclear as to how accountable he is & how accountable our owners should be.....you make a good point though.

We all knew that we were caught with our pants down at the end of the summer window, i questioned whether BR would be able to take us forward, i wasn't happy with letting Carroll go...i wasn't happy with how eager "we" were to rubbish Kenny Dalglish....etc...

I knew this season would be problematic, 1 proven striker at the Club, took a chance on a few foreign players who would fit better into our new style of football and here we are half the way into the season and i can hardly be arsed to watch us play....

No consistency at all & for me that SHOULD have been a warning that BIG changes were needed, but no, we just let the "problem" continue...

I have no doubt whatsoever that IF Kenny had stayed we would have seen some big changes in terms of personnel etc and i think we would be headed onwards and upwards instead of 1 step forward & 2 steps back...

    ReplyDelete
  46. i was being slightly flippant but you get my drift...we are real easy to play against ...and there is a real easy way to put us off our game and we have no plan b ....if teams defend high and pressure us at high tempo ( easy to to do on a cold night not so easy in southern spain ).we will gift opponents goals .....i really worry ...if

    ReplyDelete
  47. 'he's wasting his at Liverpool' You've got some cheek mate. Hardly wasting it is he now, still scoring goals and playing in the best league in the world. Talisman for the team he plays for, with fans and club alike sticking with him through the good and bad times. Get a grip Jamie

    ReplyDelete
  48. i think the owners have backed us but for such astute men they have no idea about football.

    ReplyDelete
  49. No, he's not the only player who scores & he can be replaced by another player with quality as we would get more than a pretty penny for him....

You can lol all you like but he is part of the problem IMO, if he was that good he would be consistent.....which he isn't, AND i would even go so far as to say that he actually hinders our attack at times....AND misses plenty of sitters...

I mean just look at where we are atm in the league....he's been playing regularly hasn't he...???

    ReplyDelete
  50. getting thrashed by stoke and villa is Hardley the stuff of dreams for world class players.....

    ReplyDelete
  51. I just typed a response to your post, but it seems like it never made it onto the boards for some reason or other....

Time to leave this place to the gibberish merchants..

    ReplyDelete
  52. oh i wish we gave Dalglish the same no. of years that pep had.

    ReplyDelete
  53. we weren't expecting to win anything so even in dreamland winning the mickey mouse cup and FA cup finals was a good start a real good start now it looks like we will have to "escape relegation for starts" ..lol

    ReplyDelete
  54. What does that mean exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  55. So he is supposed to single-handedly get us to the cl if he is good?!?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Your memories seem to have faded you gilstrap.

Villa gave us a pounding in 2009 at Anfield. Yes that is right Liverpool 1-3 Aston Villa on 24.08.2009.

    ReplyDelete
  57. and eric FYI and in all fairness Pep inherited a winning team that had fresh trophies and most importantly was given a chance after his transfer flops in his first year ,.... we didn't. we also forget that Enrique and Suarez are from Dalglish God bllllllllllless him.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Other then Gerrard, Hart and Baines I cannot think of any English player that's that good to be honest, Rooney is completely overrated and yet everyone claims he is world class and our greatest player so that kind of sums up the general quality of English players

    ReplyDelete
  59. Erm, as far as i am aware he is not playing alone....all this talk of him being a one man team is BS, he's just as much a part of the problem as others are...that was the point i was making. Yes he scores goals, more goals than others atm but he does play up front FFS....

Oh yeah & he's a cheating diving nasty questionable character on the pitch...not really in line with the Liverpool Way, but who gives a shit about that anymore......

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes other people have scored, but hardly any. Without his goals we should be in the bottom three. neither two of the other front three ever score.

he has scored 11 goals in 18 league games, that is very consistent. no player scores every single game, it just doen`t happen. This is my issue, due to no one scoring enough, people expect Suaraz to score two goals a game to win us matches.

It also takes more than one player to get you into the top four.

    ReplyDelete
  61. but did wba and stoke andcoutless other teams kick our ass that season as well

    ReplyDelete
  62. Why is it Gibberish? Just because you state Suaraz should score more than 11 goals in 18 games, and I disagree, doesn`t make myself, or anyone else like Orme`s post Gibberish. It is a difference of point of views. I don`t try to rubbish your comments by saying just cause they aren`t mine, they are nonsense. I respect your views, and try to use facts and knowledge to back up why I think your not right.

    ReplyDelete
  63. True KD did win us stuff, and I thought he was sacked to soon, however things had gone wrong, and the second half of last season was really really bad.

    ReplyDelete
  64. YOU said look where are we and he played all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yep, completely agree there. My problem has never been with there backing, but their lack of knowledge. I think most Liverpool fans knew that each year we don`t get back into the CL, is really risky for our long term future. We needed a strong quick fix, then the changes could have come. Van Gaal for example would have been a strong quick fix (ovs can`t tell how he would have done). BR was a very risky fix idea, which even though I support BR, I don`t think was the wisest of moves when looked at through eyes that know how football works, how football is about here and now these days, and how players young and old wont show loyalty anymore, so if you don`t get back in CL fast, expect them to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Completely offtopic!

Fantastic. Joe Cole, who hasnt been worth a tenth of what we are paying him demands 50k a week untill his deal ends to leave?! if im to believe media that is.

Id take the financial hit and bench him in reserves untill there isnt a scrap left of his career. will be a way to go for that greedy ...

how do you folks feel. it is ridiculous these days with these primadonnas.

    ReplyDelete
  67. but did that villa team go on to concede 12 goals in the next two games

    ReplyDelete
  68. If true, I would have to say I agree. Considering he has done nothing at all for us, yet picks up 90k a week??? To demand 50k a week to go play somewhere else is really wrong. I would make him the offer, you leave no 50k, or you stay but never play a game again for us. Although again this is prob media hype

    ReplyDelete
  69. there isnt a scrap left of his career now ....another lottery win for a footballer with no heart nice work if you can get it

    ReplyDelete
  70. theres another one sahin sat on the bench for 70 g a pop moaning because he isnt being played exactly where he wants ....when i get back to work next week i may demand an office with a view or im not playing

    ReplyDelete
  71. gilstrap talked about getting thrashed by teams like Villa this season so I pointed out that it was not the first season it has happened.

There have been many defeats in the past by other teams we should have beaten which I can post which will also hardly be the stuff of dreams for world class players but quite honestly it is a waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Savage needs to jump back in his tardis & jog back to the 1970,s where he belongs, no interest in anything that this blurt has to say :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. That does not have anything to do with it. The main point is that we have been beaten by many other 'smaller teams' in the past.

Would you like me to show you how we have been humiliated by teams not playing in the EPL before this season kicked off?

    ReplyDelete
  74. and they will be plenty more espeically now rodgers is rewriting lfcs history and not for the right reasons

    ReplyDelete
  75. Our dry spell won't be shot lived if our striking option is Sturridge, and Franco Di Santo. I think you are delusional to say the least but i admire your spirit. Ever the loyal fan yes you are. While i am loyal i remain a good friend with reality. Daniel Sturridge is a player who couldn't break into the the Chelsea starting line up on a regular basis. With a misfiring Fernando Torres he had the perfect opportunity to prove to his coaches that he should be starting by scoring as much as possible. He failed to take advantage. Suddenly he is the one to lead us up the table? Blessed with pace and not much else he hasn't even been called up recently for England. Obviously he is cheap and that is the only reason Rodgers is interested.

Franco Di Santo is a promising player but i wouldn't use the word "phenom" to describe him. If he were indeed a real phenom he goals would have lifted Wigan to at least a top ten position in the Barclay's premiere league table instead they are currently languishing in 18th place. If the league were to end today the would be relegated.

Mark my word carefully as i express more negativity about Liverpool. Some times i am so negative that Jamie our admin doesn't publish my comments. Suarez is a star who suddenly finds himself in an amateur team. He signed up for our team based on name recognition and past exploits alone and maybe Fernando Torres not because we were tearing up the league at the time. IF we don't bring in more talented folks than Sturridge or Di Santo and perform better than we did last season then he will ask for a transfer next summer.

Great players pledge their futures to their club when things are good. Heck they even go as far as to say it's their boyhood dream to play for the club. After a couple of bad seasons they are out the door. Gerrard stuck around this long because he is captain. He was tempted to leave once and now it's too late. Might have been different if he didn't have the armband think about it.

If we are serious about keeping Suarez long term we should build a top class team around him.

    ReplyDelete
  76. you can except the odd beating as a player when your in the champions leauge ...we had a poor season finished 7th big difference

    ReplyDelete
  77. your wasting your time jason some of the guys on here think we are going forwards from last year

    ReplyDelete
  78. Your moaning is going to become a life threatening disease Jason. I think it may be best to go see your GP in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I was not referring only to teams in the CL...

    ReplyDelete
  80. eyah Sbax what a wonderful season he had. Sadly even with two finals an a trophy that was won because a player on the other team could kick a penalty kick properly I doubt that Suarez would call last year a success. The club , Suarez and our then manager were all on the news for all the wrong reasons. All Liverpool has in it's favor is it's name and it's rich historic past. Many of our fans live in the past because the present is depressing. Our rich heritage is all we got right now. It is clearly not enough to attract today's foot-ball biggest and brightest, instead it attracts foot-ball's mediocre and cheapest players. United are flirting with Lewandowski and we and we are signing Sturridge. What a laugh. Chelsea are after Falcao and we sign Sturridge. Arsenal are flirting with Hunterlaar and we sign a player who was nothing more than a bench warmer at his last club. Boy how far we have fallen

    ReplyDelete
  81. your optimistic bullsh"t will kill me first what are you some kind of masacist i would rather walk on glass than have to put up with another load of rodgers rubbish

    ReplyDelete
  82. HART is the most overrated player in the PL.He makes a truck load of mistakes but people still give him the best keeper in the world tag.Maybe in the future but not now.
REINA's form has dropped in the last 2 seasons and the keeper I see making as many mistakes is HART, they get highlighted but their accompanied with excuses by the English hype machine which is the media and fans fall for it hook line and sinker.

    ReplyDelete
  83. true...that's when we forget all the good he did.

    ReplyDelete
  84. theres probabley about the same chance of going forward under rodgers as there is allen passing the ball forward slim and no chance and slim just left town

    ReplyDelete
  85. give him his money as long as he f"cks off thats all that matters paying him half is better than paying it all

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well nothing is holding you back from going to support another team Jason. There are many other teams you can go and moan about. Not just LFC ;)

    ReplyDelete
  87. I agree he makes mistakes but on his day he is exceptional, after his form the last few seasons its obviously going to dip but he will be back to his best sooner or later, and that's why I believe he is good

    ReplyDelete
  88. its not as easy as that its not like leaving the wife ,i still remember the good times and some day they may come back and i can fall in love again (just not whilst rodgers there lol)

    ReplyDelete
  89. if your managers rodgers he will probabley give you a panoramic view and a payrise then send you home for a few weeks all on full pay of course, and tell the rest of the office your sick a bit like hes done with all his signings

    ReplyDelete
  90. The 70's and 80's.
Those days are going to take one hell of a miracle to replicate Jason. Just look at what we have achieved over the last 22 years. We have been mediocre at best since we last won the holy grail. What are you expecting from rodgers when he hasn't even completed half a season yet?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sorry, just seen your reply. A footballers contract is for a period of time, not an open ended arrangement as 99% of jobs. I understand your argument but it goes completely against the law of contract. Players should not enter an agreement if they are unhappy with the terms.

    ReplyDelete
  92. aye. but if the alternative is to pay him 50k and di santo 40k + transfer fee. i say lets pay cole 90k and not play him ever and let di santo or whatshisname stay in wigan. we save 15m in transfer fee.

    ReplyDelete
  93. True, but you still need to take into account that people/clubs change, and regardless of having a contract or not, you might become unhappy after a few years, what happens then? do you really want to force a player to stay? In an ideal world I would agree, that contracts are contracts, but things change, managers change, players get dropped, and hated on by fans.

The contract does give both club and player a safety net, like you said the club doesnt have to sell, nor does the player have to leave. Joe cole is perfectly allowed to stay at Pool on his 90k a week until it runs out. It is swings and roundabouts really, but I think the truth is, very few clubs can afford to keep a player who wants to leave, and therefore might stop performing.

I can`t see how it is the players or the clubs fault, it just happens.

  94. Your right circumstances do change during a contract; I guess the salvation for a player are the astronomical wages they recieve. Lets hope in Suarez's case the team picks up to provide some long awaited silverware. Although I got a feeling its a long way off.

THEY DID IT TO DALGLISH SO WHY NOT TO SOMEONE INFERIOR.

  97. or a better idea is to fu*k cole and de sante off ..we dont need either there are better kids in the reserves who who love the club and the badge who id sooner get a chance like morgan and co

  98. why not support tranmere red with your optimism they should be in the champions league next year....as for me ill keep moaning as long as we are losing and playing crap and wasting millions on dross ....If we start winning ill be happy and not moan...i think thats what winning and losing is all about or do you jump for joy when we get our pants pulled down and balls flicked at stoke

    ReplyDelete
  99. You are heading for disappointment mate. They are not going to get rid of Rodgers now.

They have not given him any ultimatums of finishing in the top four this season so when Rodgers is still here next season then you will continue to be a sour puss for another season.

    Have fun.

  100. Unfortunately we sold Torres on the cheap. If AC scored 14 EPL goals cost 35 mil pounds, Torres should be sold for at least 250-300 mil pounds. Catastrophically, we only got 50 mil pounds for him. Very bad business indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  101. They are great till date but it's only unfortunate that they know nuts about soccer.

    ReplyDelete
  102. we will surely be relegated when Suarez leaves, which i see might happen anytime soon ,we really need to buy some reasonable "NAMES" to make our team look attractive ...and i still stick to my Demba Ba cos i think for 7.5mill it aint bad at all we could rest Suarez and still look fearful in attack. we could also play BA at top and Suarez and SG behind him..

    ReplyDelete
  103. I rate your opinions(this one included) but getting in Chelsea team is not only about how good you are(nowhere it is- but over there this is an understatement). And based on his performances in Bolton he ain't that bad. Off course not supposed to be our first striking option, but partnering Suarez I expect very good return in goals.

    ReplyDelete
  104. He's not good enough to manage our youth team never mind the first team.

he took over reading got the sack.

Took over swansea and it was all martinez hard work in place and players too. see the difference when Laudrup took over the same team look at swansea now and under rodgers.

Imagine somebody like a Laudrup at our club with a striker like Michu to complement Suarez with good attacking football.

Instead we have tika taka puka paka football with the Welsh wizard working his magic by passing sideways and backwards.

    He has signed

    Sahin**failure
    assaidi **failure
    Allen **failure
    Borini **failure

just on his signing he needs sacking

What must Suarez and Gerrard think when playing for the new Pep

    ReplyDelete
  105. He's brenden rodgers in disguise and defending his exceptional record

    ReplyDelete
  106. I for one wouldnt blame suarez for leaving. People always say its the money factor - its not. Top players when they finish want to look back at a career of achievement. However im astonished at Suarez level of performance this year - because it must be clearly uninsipiring to see the team sheet and the calibre of players your playing with day in day out. I see the face of Gerrard and its the same he cannot be bothered to fight for the cause because he has carried the team for years.

We have to face facts. We are a poorly run cllub with a mid table mentality currently being engraved in our ethos by FSG and Rodgers. FSG would like nothing more than for us to be a mid table version of arsenal - except we cant pull of what wenger has done for the last 16 years. BR transfers have been poor and the one's he's chasing at the moment arent really inspiring any hope either. Even during dalglish's time we were linked with international players like Hazard but ended up buying poor dross. Once we had wasted 100 million FSG decided lets have a transfer strategy and BR brought in his 180 page dossier to back this up. So we go back to hunting for players that represent this mid table mindset. Borini, Henderson, Carroll, Downing, Cole, Allen, Adam are all players that would never have made our reserves in the past yet get to put on the shirt for what the paying public would earn in years.

I have no faith in BR, he is simply someone who is good with words especially when compared to his predecessor, and neither do i have any faith in the scouts, and neither in FSG.

I dont blame FSG for not spending the money - because clearly they have - but i blame them for hiring Comolli, BR,poor scouts, and for installing this mid-table buy young british "talent" ethos.

Can you imagine if this year we make top 4 and we play Barcelon or Real Madrid next season - we would be ripped apart. And the fact that it looks like Rafa would be offered a permanent contract at Chelsea - can anyone explain why we rejected him or Van Gaal in favour of BR whose managerial acheivements till date were nil? They are wasting more money on foolish buys and when the next manager comes in they certainly wont be anything in the pot, and like Blackburn Rovers i dont think any top manager will touch us with a barge pole.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Barely gets a mention Guardiola's bad transfer record as its overshadowed by being the manager of a side that went onto become the best side of the last two decades.

Generally, no gives a sh1t about manager's bad spending as long as they succeed. If they don't succeed, than you know how it goes.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Who knows what would have happened if KK had stayed. But he got let go, so we don't know. Judge what has been done and what has been done is those signings were sh1t and we did sh1t in the latter part of the season. I didn't want him to get let go in the summer, wanted them to give him at least another half a season. Guardiola didn't inherit a winning team, he got a side that finished 3rd in La Liga before he took over. Barca or Real finishing outside of the top two is utter failure. It wasn't a settled side (there were issues and still were on-going issues in his first season with the likes of Etoo). Guardiola's Barca turned out to be far better than Rijkaard's Barca. Guardiola's Barca side became one of the best team's of all time. Not sure KK came anywhere close to doing that like Guardiola did in his first season ;)

Guardiola was given a chance after his first season, yes thats right but erm maybe that was because they were brilliant in his first season in terms of football played as well as what they won, as after all they were the first Spanish club to do the treble (CL, La Liga and domestic cup). Bit of a difference between that first season of Guardiola's and KK last season.

So I don't agree with your use of Guardiola to defend Dalglish. Guardiola was massively successful, despite the flops, whereas KK wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I've barely seen him play to agree that he is a great talent. Would like to see him play to see whether he is actually good enough.

  113. my expectations are not that high just progress i know its never going to be like the 70s and 80s again i just want to go to anfield when the ans are together behind one man ala bentiez king kenny the atmosphere is flat under rodgers and more and more fans have lost faith in him ,not me i had none to start, which is a bad thing because i,ve never thought that way about any manager even hodgson

  114. am beginning to appreciate how Dalglish treated sterling , by now he would have been on a 15,000 a week for 5 years.

    ReplyDelete
  115. seriously, KD to BR is more like swapping your horse for a donkey...remember top on Dalglish's list was Defoe and sessegnon and if that had happen we wouldnt have lacked anything this season sterling would have been a good substitute and not holding us to ransom. KD forgive us.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Now, please publish a list comparing trophies won by Guardiola in his first season and trophies won by Dalglish in his second reign?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Just being picky but Ibra scored more than 16 goals for Barca. You seem to inc. goals from Carroll in all club competitions but don't do it for Ibra.

    ReplyDelete
  118. He should have been given more time.

Although even if Guardiola only had one season at Barca, he still won the treble in his first season.

Its a bemusing use of Guardiola to somehow try and help KK II. It doesn't work, imo. Not even close.

    ReplyDelete
  119. What is that based that on?

    ReplyDelete
  120. What is the Defoe & Sessegnon thing from? Rumours?

    ReplyDelete
  121. With his signings in place, he did a sh!t job last season and he paid the price. Although I wanted him to stay for at least another half a season, he still had a sh1t season.

    ReplyDelete
  122. KD Will always be a hero, but for the money he spent he didn`t do well. No one knows who he would have signed, that is just guessing.

    ReplyDelete
  123. "scored more than 16" ...is not a figure i think we will all appreciate a figure. so we are all well informed.

    ReplyDelete
  124. hook, line..............

    ReplyDelete
  125. Might not be a great figure but its certainly factual, which was the point of my post, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  126. 1.that he kept introducing him from the bench
2.player feels he is making an impact but not a first choice .
3.then tie him down to a long-term contract.
eg. Adam Morgan can not hold us to ransom if we gave him a 10,000 a week , u get my angle?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Bit too much Football Manager me thinks, that so-called theory.

    ReplyDelete
  128. i wont you to appreciate the fact that barca were light years in performance as compared to us and they had won three titles two seasons before pep took over. we had nothing in about 5 years so if u cant appreciate the CC and the FA cup finals and the fact that we had one of the best defenses in the premier league..then i don't know what u call progress .it is rather bemusing what u think progress is.its like signing as manager of Everton and being expected to win 2 cups.

    ReplyDelete
  129. lets go to the primary school for starts we finished 4points of Everton . what will we have said of a new everton manager who won the CC and went to the FA cup finals in his first year...u cant compare the Barca team that kept shinning trophies each year to Liverpool. yes i guess u were one of those who expected magic in the 2nd reign of KK (from 7th to winning a treble..please.)now BR is teaching us that he can worse than KK.enjoy

  130. The league is the bread and butter. He had a absolute horrendous second half of the league season. There is no hiding that, no hiding that with bringing up a domestic up where the likes of Middlesborough, Birmingham, Leicester, etc, have all reached the final in in the last two decades. So I don't place too much importance on the Carling Cup, never have done. FA Cup yes. But at the end of the day, the league is the bread and butter

Considering the amount of money they spent as well the high wage spend (compared to the likes of Spurs who are considerably lower), he didn't progress enough in the league. Two runs in the domestic cups is hardly the creme de la creme of progress for a club that spent so much on wages and transfers in Dalglish's seasons.

Whereas Guardiola more than progressed enough. Barca were light years ahead yes and yet Guardiola still made them progress a lot. The amount of progress he made in such a short time in the first season p1sses all over Dalglish's reign. He made them into a legendary side that will be remembered for decades to come. He made them into a side that has been instrumental on for their national side also, a international side that will also be remembered for decades to come.

It is rather bemusing you keep on bringing in Guardiola as some sort of saviour for Dalglish's second reign, when instead it makes him look worse.

    Guardiola's reign is legendary.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Everton have different standards. Different transfer budget. Different wage budget. So to sum up, we aren't bloody ruddy Everton.

Eh? No, lets go back to nursery. Your the one that brought in the Guardiola-Barca comparison initially, I have simply carried it on. Just because I haven't carried it on in a manner that agrees with your view, your saying I can't compare. Stop moving the goal posts.

I expected a decent level of league performance in the second half of last season but you know what, you 'enjoy' the sh1te performance in the league last season, as it seems to be you were ok with that.

For the money that was spent, he did cack in the league last season. There is no hiding that, not even with domestic cup runs.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Robbie savage was one of the worst players to play in the Premier League. No vision, prison rukes tackling, gets booked cos he cant shut up.. do i need to go on.
