'He has offers' - £12m striker wanted by LFC in 2010 now "for sale". Bid...?

The Agent of Ukrainian attacking midfielder Artem Milevskiy has confirmed that the player has been transfer-listed by Dynamo Kiev, and Liverpool are reportedly interested in bringing him to Anfield in January.

Speaking to the Ukrainian Press yesterday, Malik Arkinov - Milevskiy's Agent - said:

"He [Milevskiy] has been put up for sale by Dynamo Kiev football player.

"He has offers from Britain and Russia, and Turkey is also an option for him"

Liverpool were linked with a move for Milevskiy during the Roy Hodgson era, and at the time, the striker's Agent hinted at the Reds' interest. He said:

"Milevskiy is a player who could play for Liverpool, Manchester United or Chelsea. He is a top level player and we have had some serious interest from one major Premier League club".

£12m-rated Milevskiy could be available for a knockdown price of £1.6m in January, which would surely be within Liverpool's price range (!)

Milevskiy's current deal runs out next summer, so a January transfer is almost a certainty if Kiev want to avoid the possibility of him leaving for free.

Worth a bid? Would he fit into Brendan Rodgers' 433 system?

  2. At such a low price he would definitely be worth a shot and if doesn't work out sell him at a profit.

  4. 10 appearances this season and no goals. His most productive season came in 09-10 playing as a second striker where he bagged 17 goals in 27 league appearances ending that season with 19 goals and 37 apps (a goal every other game). Considering it’s the russian league might diminish that number and he's scored 6 and 9 goals in the two previous seasons might mean that one season was a fluke. More importantly, this might mean BR considers him as a back-up to suarez and a solution to the striking dilema (with borini coming back in a couple of months) which would be quite scary

  13. Milevsky is quality. A taller version of Berbatov but with similar silky skills on the ball, the problem as Jaimie points out is will he fit in?

He would have to play through the middle really, then we lose Suarez's threat.

Sturridge deal seems more and more likely, and I guess he will play out wide a good bit. Not too sure about him though.....

  15. i think we may go for sturridge, ince and another experienced striker

  16. Sturridge rumours have far too much substance to them to be ignored. It was confirmed we tried to get the player on loan during the summer and there has been no change in his position at Chelsea. Warner spoke about January transfers very much as if they had a specific player in mind and the recent talk just gets stronger and stronger ... I think the haters are going to have to get used to the idea.

  18. Him being Ukrainian brings back some bad memories, although that you are probably right. At a knock-down price he might be worth a punt.

  19. Kyiv play in their own country (Ukraine), not in Russia. The USSR is history.

  20. Actually we won't lose Suarez's threat because that comes from the wings most of the time anyway. After what Henry said about never again overpaying for players I have good hope that Sturridge will stay firmly where he belongs, on the Chelski bench. They paid five million for him and he hardly ever plays so why should he be worth fifteen now??

  21. As with Bent, a loan move would be fine buut paying fifteen million would not. Same for Sahin. A shrewd loan move to make but you can't imagine us paying Real ten million for him. And where's the substance to the Sturrigde rumours? Just because more and more internet sites copy paste what they read in the daily fail it makes it so? When Henry says he won't overpay for players anymore I'm sure fifteen million for a bench warmer at Chelsea fits into that category. The only players at Chelsea I'd consider value for money for fifteen million are Mata and Courtois really.

  22. I don't know anything about this guy to be honest. I think I've seen him play a few minutes at the euros and I wasn't overly impressed but that means very little. Scoring record is about one in three. The pricetag doesn't say too much if the player doesn't fit. Any money is too much if he's not the right guy.

  25. He still cost some wages, handsome wages I might assume, and probably a nice signing-on fee plus agent fees. If that is free I would like to have this kind of money for free, too.

  28. 5 mill fee and 5 for wages- Sahin.

  29. My bad, confuse that a lot. But furthers the point since the Russian league is better, 17goals in the Ukrainian league is nothing to get excited about. Deadwood waiting to happen

  32. Its not a matter of 'hating' Sturridge.

There is something intrinsically wrong in our reasoning when we buy English to play predominantly possession based football.

Most English players don't understand the concept let alone excel at it, so wheres the logic?

Remind me again where arguably our current two most important players come from...
Suarez & Lucas both South American... Hello !!!

Again, there is something intrinsically wrong in our reasoning when we buy English players and think we will somehow be successful in a possession based footballing style.

  33. I can recall that one, yes. Truly awful. But then it has to be said that most WAGs and celebrities dress really bad. There was one pic of Gerrard's wife and she wore boots with some sort of bobble hanging from them. Kids stuff, really, on a grown woman.
