'It was embarrassing' - Angry LFC hero blasts BR for two 'schoolboy' mistakes. Agree?

Liverpool legend Tommy Smith has launched a scathing attack on Liverpool's unacceptable performance against Stoke on Boxing Day, and he's accused Reds boss Brendan Rodgers of making two major mistakes that contributed to the 3-1 defeat.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo today, Smith - who made 638 appearances for the club - delivered the following withering assessment of Liverpool's failure against Stoke:

"I couldn’t believe what I was seeing as we threw it away.

"Defensively, we were awful. We were all over the place at the back, and [Stoke's] second goal was just embarrassing.

"It was schoolboy stuff. In a game like that you have to roll your sleeves up and fight but we failed to do that".

Liverpool were totally outfought and outplayed by Stoke on the day, and it's difficult to accept, especially given the fact the Reds have arguably better players in several different positions. Smith also questioned two of Rodgers' decisions related to the game. First, he queried why the players were given Christmas day off:

"I was surprised. I could understand it if Liverpool had been on a great run recently but with results so inconsistent they need to be putting things right on the training ground"

I totally agree with this. It's standard practice for players to train at some point on Christmas day, and then stay in a hotel on Christmas night to prepare for the game on boxing day. Rodgers probably gave them the day off as a reward for the 4-0 victory over Fulham, but his sentimentality clearly cost the club, and it's just another example of how he needs to toughen up. Smith also berated the manager for picking the wrong players against Stoke:

"We didn’t seem to have the right players to handle Stoke. I don’t think the manager picked the right team. We needed our big, strong players out there"

With the exception of Henderson, what other 'big, strong players' missed out on the starting XI? Joe Allen could hardly be described as 'big and strong', and if he'd started the game, I doubt it would've made any difference to the end result. Same goes for Henderson.

The brutal truth is that Liverpool simply lack physically intimidating players. Martin Skrtel is a bruiser, but even he could do nothing to halt Stoke's relentless physical onslaught.

If fit, Martin Kelly would've been a good option, and Jamie Carragher would've brought some steel and last-ditch physicality to the Liverpool team, but he's no longer a regular starter for the club.

Ultimately, there needs to be an immediate positive response from Liverpool, and Smith has demanded that the players bounce back against QPR on Sunday:

"All the players have a responsibility to make amends for that performance against Stoke. They have to realise they are playing for thousands of fans who expect to see them giving everything for Liverpool Football Club".

  1. In all honesty, I thought this would have been a game to revert to 3-5-2 with Coates at the back. His height and strength would have been perfect for attacking and defending.

Oh well, sure we'll get a good result at QPR, but then fail horribly at Sunderland!

  2. I agree. It would have provided a far stronger defense, additional midfield support, and better service to Suarez.

  3. Rodger's system is not your run-of-the-mill system. If its not working, it can be horrendous as to how porous we are as a team defensively. It is nowhere near finished and that is a big problem, as he seems to be very reluctant to deviate from it for even periods in games. I watched the Wigan-Arsenal game. Arsenal have a certain kind of way of playing but because of the pitch, because of the way Wigan were playing and possibly due to the question marks over this current Arsenal side, Arsenal were putting plenty of men behind the ball in the last 15-20 minutes of the game, as well as bringing on an extra defender (Kosc), a holding midfielder (Coq au vin) and a CM (Ramsey) for Cazorla, Poldi and Oxlade. They didn't play great but they held onto a win. You have to earn the right to play the way you want and if that doesn't happen, sometimes you have to change things during games. So its rather annoying how little changes Rodgers makes, when the team's way of playing when its not going right.

  5. losing to stoke away was the straw that broke the camels back for me far worse than losing at home to villa ...ill give you my reasons ...villa may have been a one off ...new players ...new system....may have just caught us off guard ,no excuse but it happens. But stoke, come on everybody in the football fraternity knows how stoke play everyone it seems bar rogers ...the problem is his ego and pigheadedness not to change things when they are not working ...fine if your sir alec with a host of trophy's not so fine if you have never won anything at top level ...the way he set us up for stoke he should be sacked for gross misconduct...while stoke where doing set pieces to expose are weakness rogers was pulling Christmas crackers under the holly kissing a picture of himself

  7. Giving xmas day off, may well have meant players eat to much food, and had the odd drink, not the best when you got a game the next day. Even if that didnt happen it may have set the mind into lazy mood.

  8. Hahaha... Luckily my shift is over, see you next year to celebrate QPR win and discuss Sunderland...

  9. Its the three games after that which worry me. We needed max points as there is a chance we may lose all three against the big teams after Sunderland. Then again we often play better against the top teams.

  10. Coates and carragher should have played, but Henderson? he is one of the biggest spineless lilly livered coward in a squad of pampered cowards.

  11. BR tactics and selection was poor at Stoke; but Stoke have a really good home record and are very difficult to beat. They were far too physical. I agree he should have prepared for this battle. Coates and Henderson from the start would have been better options. Tommy Smith would have been ideal !!!!

  12. Since when was Henderson big and strong? He rarely makes a challenge and when he does he loses it as he hasn't the bottle to get stuck in, the team is a mess and its down to Rodgers and nobody else

  13. the way we pitter patter about i cant see where our next points are coming from....qpr are made for rogers style so if we fail there we are in big trouble ....sunderland will rough us up and oneil will set his stall out

  14. Unfortunately, the point about not having enough height and physicality in the team is absolutely correct. The way Rodgers is going about things not only leaves us wanting against physical teams, but renders us one-dimensional. If we are unable to pass the ball into the opposition's goal then we might as well say goodbye to 3 points because the team lacks versatility.

BR has systematically reduced the height within the team. Failure to add a strong defensive midfielder has only contributed to our problems. He seems to have forgotten that this is the EPL and he is managing Liverpool. We are not Barcelona, and this is not La Liga. Look at Arsenal, they've been lacking silverware ever since players like Viera left. Surely BR sees this.

He is now apparently threatening to sell players who don't show fight and perform consistently. Never heard all these things when he was at Swansea. If players feel they are fighting a battle they can't win then of course they will hang their heads. Right now, they are fighting history (which is always the case), the opposition, and Rodger's football philosophy. That's not to say that players shouldn't be held responsible for poor performances, but the manager needs to give them everything they need to succeed. A decent striker, a defensive midfielder, a sensible football philosophy (not playing about in your own third) and less of the open negativity.

  15. like i say the guy has no authority and his ego is out of control ....thought alls well after beating a very poor fulham.....thing is if your implementing a new style you would want every moment available to drill positions ....like i say fine on a chalkboard if your cruff in the 70s not so fine at stoke on a rainy night

    ReplyDelete
  16. after the opening debacle at everton every red fan in the land could see 352 with coates would be better ...not ideal but a far better use of the squad ....no we tried to pass it about at the back with a lightweight team in the wind and rain ...astounding tactics

    ReplyDelete
  17. Their is also an issue with both center backs. Their both lapdogs up against physical forwards and easily bullied and overpowered. Agger and Skrtel look good technically and are pleasing on the eye at times, but when it comes to the nitty gritty of defending, both are found wanting and to a large degree. We overrate a lot of our players, a lot of them have not performed for 3-4 managers. Their just not very good.

    ReplyDelete
  18. hes easy 6 foot but more to the point hes very fit......when Henderson came on against stoke the midfield looked stronger ...listen i was never a fan of the guy at Sunderland ...and you cant blame the kid for his price tag ..but ive watched every game for Liverpool this year and the fact is hes been by far the most effective center midfield player in all 3 roles of a 4 33 midfield

    ReplyDelete
  19. ste we had the 3rd best defence last year and clubs where looking to pay big money for all our back 4 ...so the coaching and tactics have to questioned...we are getting overrun in midfield which doesn't help the back 4 ....plus if agger and skirtel dont have someone like carroll to train against how do they drill corners and set plays against big forwards ...its okay to drill against defenders but forwards move different so you must lose an edge

    ReplyDelete
  20. Totally agree, Steve. Those two are not physically commanding enough this season, and are bullied out of it far too often.

    ReplyDelete
  21. another excellent post banoog you have a far better way of putting points across than me

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, h's indirectly threatening the players, but I doubt the likes of Gerrard, Allen etc fall within that no matter how badly they perform.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Woody. As a reds supporter of over 45yrs,Rogers is driving me nuts.Pussyfooting with the ball and having lots of possession is not working. We are toothless in front of goal and spineless overall.Suarez and Gerrard, work their socks off but to many other players are simply not good enough. They lack real fight and guts when, as for too long the chips are down.Liverpool are now just a mid table team at best,(this sickens me to say it) KK should have been given time to build. Two cup finals was progress, now were going backwards with a manager who wants to play pretty football when we need the Stoke/West Brom mentality.Fight for every point sweat blood for the shirt, and make these players realise they are wearing the Red shirt of Liverpool fc,God knows what Shanks,Paisley and Fagan would thing of this mess.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They would perform if the tactical set-up was better and had better protection from the DM's look at Man u or chelsea they have no great strong CB's in the top team's the only really strong cb's are Kompany maybe, lescott maybe, really struggling to think of really poweful cb's it's the stupid system not the players that are failing, it leaves the defenders exposed and voulnerable to counter attacks all that passing and no end product. BR is full of sod end off the earlier he leaves the better

    ReplyDelete
  25. But he aint strong and he is going to be able to run around all game when he aint doing anything but run, I have also watched pretty much every game Liverpool have played this season and I must see a very different player to you, as in my opinion he is easily our weakest midfielder, 1 and half decent games since he has been here... our midfield is terrible

    ReplyDelete
  26. Stoke's goals had nothing to do with counter attacks....one was a long punt and we couldn't win the 2nd ball...another was from a long throw in..they simply aren't good enough...not physically imposing enough or strong/dominating enough..that's the bottom line. I'd rather Ryan Shawcross than both. I'm not saying Agger is a bad player. He's a good player with technical gifts, but when it comes to the nitty gritty, found wanting.. who was marking Terry at the Bridge for his goal from a corner - AGGER....Look at what Benteke did to both of them..and Carlton Cole at Upton Park...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Skrtel is a sheep in wolf's clothing. He rarely man marks the most physical opposition player if he can help it, and just committing stupid fouls at random does not make him a hard man.

Liverpool NEED to pick up a Moussa Sissoko/Mohammed Diame in this transfer window, while they are available on the cheap. The rest of our central midfielders all over varying degrees of the same skillset, with none of them having the power or pace to handle a physical battle.

    ReplyDelete
  28. they wont he picks what i regard easy targets henderson, downing.shelvey ( only 20 ), cole ( who should be nowhere near the team ) lets see if he trys to publicly humiliate agger and skirtel and gerrad and suarez not a chance ...talk is cheap and BR is buying his at poundland

Firstly let me say we had better options of managers before any1 poo poos and say that we couldnt do better . Kenny and Clarke were much better than this and could have learnt from the previous seasons mistakes .Ok if they HAD to go due to FSG being afraid of KK Legend status @ Liverpool then Rafa was availible ....No .................. ok what about AVB , currently spurs are 4th and are winning as i write this ........................... Soo OK no shortage of managers wanting to manage us .... Next he sells or gives away experianced players i.e. maxi /bellers on the cheap or for free without replacing them 1st mistake , then any1 who saw liverpool last year would know our big problem is that we were missing aTOP NOTCH striker he didnt sign 1 ..2nd mistake , now before anyone says the poor guy didnt have money KK spent it all Boo Hoo .......Allen 15 mill , Boring 10 mill , Sahin on Loan 5 mill , assidi 2 mill that comes up 2 a grand total of 32 MILL , RVP went to UTD for 24 MILL and Michu was 2 MILL , MY GOD why didnt he BUY a top striker ...
Then he signs Allen for 15 mill for what , what has allen done to better us ...we had Aqualini who was a MUCH better passer of the ball 3rd mistake ....
Then he lets go of our Plan B " Carrol " without replacing him 4th mistake ...now before any1 poo poos abouth the fact that it was Ayre who did that not BrenDOM , then u must go and read his first interview where he said that the only reason he came to Liverpool was because " he had TOTAL CONTROL " soo if he did then he must be responsible , if he didnt then he was lying to US .. U decide which is worse ...so that comes to 4 serious mistakes BEFORE the league even began , is it any wonder we are in the state we are ......Now before any1 goes boo hoo again sayin ooh hes a new manager , we must give him time ....Clarke , AVB , Laudrup ALL brand spanking new managers , all at the same time , all doing better than BRENDOOOOOM and ALL have TAKEN POINTS FROM BRENDOOOOM GUYS REALLY ,can u understand my fustration with people who are supporting this inapt manager whos driving US into the ground and making us a joke in the league ....
Ok soo they say He hasnt got a good team shame. KK with this team battered most teams last season and won against Man City , Arsnel , Chelsea < and man U ...the same team ..... Aslo look at man U not a great team but still winning why ....a damn good manager soo that tell me if we think we have a soo soo team we must make sure we have a GR8 Manager ....gettit ok team gr* manager .... we have got crap and we deserve it cus we are eating BrenDOM crap everytime he opens his mouth with VISIONS OF TOMMORROW . The fact is that FSG appointed him cuz he is a puppet who plays their tune ....remember how Hendry was sooo in need of 4th last year and was sooo vocal about it ....wheres he now ...Rome is burning ....We are in the same position as ROY was when they fired him for UNACCEPTABLE RESULTS for a LIVERPOOL TEAM and 9 point behind where KK was LAST YEAR .........

    ReplyDelete
  34. agree mate . we should try and get carrol back in jan but after the way rodgers treated him would he come back?we also need akeeper who will command his area. we also need amanager who knows what he doing. we also need new owners . 2 forwards .god this list could go on and on .to sum it all up we are in deep shit .and a big clear out is needed. cole downing coates reina rodgers would do for a start

    ReplyDelete
  35. If we don't play in Europe next year, BR should be sacked. No two ways about it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. its all about confidence steve and when you have no confidence in the system or players around you because your tactics are so poor you get caught in two minds and lose focus ..it like trying to plug a dyke with your finger it doesn't matter if your franz beckanbaur if you have no faith in the system and no one knows what they are doing you look far worse that you are and make mistakes

    ReplyDelete
  37. We first need a CB like Hyypia to take control of our defence and hopefully in the summer that will be addressed and a replacement for Reina too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. you and steve can blame the defenders all you want ....but it wouldn't matter if we had shaq o neil and lennox lewis ...if the tactics are poor ...your defense drilling is poor.....your teams positioning and motivation is poor....your defensive structure is poor...you look poor and will make mistakes....these where 20million pound plus defenders 6 months ago jaimie ....people where saying 30 million for agger ...rogers has reduced them to peanuts

    ReplyDelete
  39. never mind europe we might not be playin in the premier lge with this fella in charge!

    ReplyDelete
  40. thats the same diame who was going to come for zero under kenny ...but rogers decided 15m for allen was a better deal

    ReplyDelete
  41. if they are that bad why did we not sell them for 20/30m when we had the chance 6 months ago.....i wonder how many on here where screaming when it was suggested that skirtel and agger were leaving

    ReplyDelete
  42. Some people wouldn't mind that. As they say, we need to breakdown and start from scratch. I say, why not start from league 2. lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. What is this talk about confidence and all that other BS.

Does Suarez not have any confidence in this system? Sterling? Enrique? These 3 players have all shown that they want to get stuck in. Even Henderson has provided some get in there performances.

Might be Tiki Taka, puku paka, tic tac and all the other names that have been used to ridicule the system. Is pass and move new to LFC?

    ReplyDelete
  44. your arguing my point for me red by saying passing about at the back ( rogers preffered style ) is useless...do you think ryan shawcross can pass the ball around at the back along the floor when under pressure ...no he will lump it ...that not What rogers 180 page dossier is about THATS WHY A PLAYER LIKE SHAWCROSS ( WHO I THINKS EXCELLENT ) WOULD STRUGGLE PLAYING TIKA TAKA under rogers ..he would look poor and lose confidencs

    ReplyDelete
  45. got one wisdom...let him go

    ReplyDelete
  46. Go figure! How can anyone justify Allen's purchase at this point in time. This is the kind of player you buy just for the hell of it. Add that £15M to the £11M paid for Borini, and you get yourself one world-class player.

The Diame situation reminds us that you don't need to break the bank to buy a half-decent player. It may also point to the likelihood of more prudent transfer market dealings by KD had he not been sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  47. earth calling red earth calling red....remember the game against city which we where winning ...skirtel under rogers preference was passing it about gave the ball away they scored ...do you think that did not affect him.....and from my observations non of these players are center backs from which the original debate was about....but if you think skirtel and agger look the same players as they did as little as 6 months ago you just go ahead talking to elvis in the coal shedo

    ReplyDelete
  48. He'll be good!! But surely need time to be No 1 keeper.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Exactly! Our deficiencies upfront have deflected our attention away from how poor our midfield can be at times. This was the same thing that many of us noted last term (even though we ended up with a decent goals against record). KD sought to address this problem with the acquisition of Diame, despite knowing that Lucas would be back early this season. Brendan Rodgers on the other hand....

    ReplyDelete
  50. Not sure about the last bit. Anyways, looking through the comments, your observations are spot on.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It doesn't matter if Suarez, Sterling, Enrique or Henderson aren't CB's. They are showing that they have a pair of cannonballs. Your comment of "and no one knows what they are doing" is referring to who? One player or the whole team?

Some of our players need to take their ballerina outfits off and show that they are actually interested in playing for the shirt especially a player like Reina.

'Fire in your belly comes from pride and passion in wearing the red shirt. We don't need to motivate players because each of them is responsible for the performance of the team as a whole. The status of Liverpool's players keeps them motivated.'

    ReplyDelete
  52. rodgers is all fluff and no action. Our team is weak, our defence has gone to sh*t.
he has next season to show hes actually got something or else people will grow tired of his waffle

    ReplyDelete
  53. Stoke 2 - Southampton 3. Can anyone tell me how Southampton is better than Liverpool ?

    ReplyDelete
  54. When rogers bought Allen i honestly thought is was more of a symbolic gesture more than anything prudent......it was bizzare i still dont know why he bought him ,almost like he was showing off or trying to prove some pathetic point to current liverpool players that this is what a tika taka player is all about...well up to now its 15m and sat on the bench

    ReplyDelete
  55. Red i cant see your point most of my posts are about how unmotivated the team looks....thats down to the manger no one else ....but the style of play rogers wants isn't gung ho and get stuck in...its pitter patter at the back ....plus the profile of player he wants are calm and collected ....if your building up from the back you have to have a cool head.......the negative part of this is i think it leads to a soft attitude .....skirtel can hardly run around at the back veins bulging if hes expected to stay focused and pass about under pressure...thats why i think rogers and his system is flawed in the PM

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think we were missing the wizardary of Allen against stoke.

we need more players who display passion along with tika tika like Allen.

    until then we will struggle.

Rodgers is a world class manager so it is natural that mediocre players will need time to understand and implement tika tika

    ReplyDelete
  57. i see villa have shipped another 3 goals in against the mighty wigan hahahahahah thats 15 goals against since they thrashed us ....looks like stoke have pulled it back against Southampton looks like a humdinger of a game ill have to catch it tonight on MOD

    ReplyDelete
  58. it looks like the marking in nearly every single goal has been bad, yep true at the first one skrtel slipped but the defensive line was not set to deal with the aerial threat that walters and jones posses. the other two goals marking has failed completely it seemed that the defenders failed to get in front of the strikers. i still don't understand why Coates doesn't get a game? tall strong good with his feet and he is going to be sold. there is something that really stinks here, btw Kenny was able to win against stoke with nearly the same players and we BR is getting trashed explain that to me

    ReplyDelete
  59. 3-3, Southampton drew and scored 3 goals against Stoke. We did score one though, penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I agree, death by football at all cost, even if it kills us first

  61. Wish we had got Dembele, wanted him more over Dempsey but neither arrived :(

Spurs' win percentage with him in the side is far better than without.

Got the physique but also got ability to take players on through the middle and power on from midfield with the ball.

    Pffft.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh yeah and someone like Rafa (my way or the highway) is the best arm around the shoulders manager out there? He is also the best when it comes to man mangement too isn't he? How do you get motivated with a chain around your neck strapped to a pole? Stop making excuses for some players who are earning 100k + a week but manage to put in a pub team performance against Stoke.

  71. BR is a talk man no more...
He think he can create Barca in Liverpool (fancy that )
Talks to much over transfer, i think he single handed reduced the value of Caroll by saying he doesnt want him in the team.
His buys Allen, Borini, Sahin are not worht their value, the new arrivals Sturridge and Tom really?? doesnt match the price....
We already had a pathetic half season, it will be really hard to improve on that.. since every match will be a must win game from now...increasing pressure on players...
We are facing united, city and arsenal aways in next 5 games ...
we cant win those and will fall to fight the relegation battle...

Need to bring Rafa big time now...
BR team is playing with the gifts of young talent (Sterling, Suso, Shelvey) brought in Rafa

  75. but joe if they are not performing drop them....the fact that he panders to certain players speaks volumes about him....hes just not cut out for it....rafa subbed Gerrard when he was at his peak...sir Alec does it with rooney...Rogers cant do it because hes terrified of losing the dressing room and senior players because he commands no respect....who is he ...id never heard of him til 6 months ago now hes at the helms of one of the greatest clubs....he sees himself as the new pepe ....well more like pepe le pew because he stinks

  85. here in lies the problem ...perhaps if he strung more than 6 games together without getting injured he would have a case

    ReplyDelete
  86. Wanyama? He looked really good against Barcelona in both games of champions League. I do not know how realistic it is considering we have Lucas and neither him or Wanyama want to be on the bench. Either way, i agree with you, we need to have some physical players that could come in against the likes of Everton, Stoke or even Westham. We might have gotten a result against Everton and Westham but you have to question how the injuries of Mirralias and Diame affected the game. Honestly we were bullied in all three games. We are not Barcelona so we need to have a way to play against teams that rely on the physical aspects of the game, we want to play football a certain way but sometimes it is about just getting the 3 points.

Would you give to a BR...who's cv is as follows

    Team g w d l

    Watford 33 13 7 12
    reading 22 6 6 11
    swansea 96 46 20 33

    now at
    Liverpool 31 13 9 9

    See the pattern

40% win rate and 30%+ loss rate

lets give him lfc job.....if he carry on like this hopefully Barcelona will come and take him

  91. Sack Rodgers, the guy is a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Do something against QPR but that's always the problem isn't it? They're always making up for stuff. So what if we beat QPR 4-0 as well? It all means sfa if we lose again the match after that or the match after that or the match after that. What we need to see any improvement is a good run of wins and draws until the end of the season. Lose once every two months? Fine. But not every single two weeks eh! As for needing big and strong. I'm pretty sure Barca would walk all over these wasters and who's the big and strong meanie there? Messi? Xavi? Iniesta? You don't outfight teams like Stoke, you outsmart and outSCORE them.

  93. That is BR's first four years as a manager. Let's compare it to Rafa's first four years as manager...

Rafael Benitez in his first four years as manager. See the link.

    Year----Club--------P---W---D---L--
    95/96---Valladolid---29--5---10--14-- (Win % 17) (Loss % 48)
    96/97---Osasuna----11--3---4---4--- (Win % 28) (Loss % 36)
    97/98---Extremadua-50--27--12--11-- (Win % 54) (Loss % 22)
    98/99---Extremadua-40--10--12--18-- (Win % 24) (Loss % 45)

Rafa was sacked in 95/96, 96/97 and quit in 97/98 because Extremadua were relegated that seasons.

Rafa's win % in his first four years as manager 30.75
Rafa's loss % in his first four years as manager 37.75

    Have a nice day.

QPR are in a worse state than us for unrest and injuries etc if we cant look good against this team ( 20,0000 ave attendance )and get a win im calling for rogers to sacked ....i can tolerate losing as long as we look like we are trying and play well...i cannot tolerate losing when it looks like a team of strangers ( see stoke game ) but no doubt if we lose and lose badly some posters on here will want him to have a contract extension to fulfill his plan ( the most hated man in Liverpool but the most loved man in Manchester )

    ReplyDelete
  98. I agree with those that have mentioned that the only different thing about our defence is the coaches.
Steve Clarke drilled the same players into the 3rd best defence last year but Rodgers and his coaches have lost all that solidity at the back despite the fact it was only attacking players who left the club so no excuses that players were not replaced as far as the defence is concerned.
Under Rodgers, we are scoring less and conceding more so I am failing to see the areas where many fans see signs of hope.
Rodgers has promoted youth since Sterling is now a regular but to be brutally honest he still young needs more time since we need more than 2 assists and a goal.
Shelvey has been given more chances and I am hopefull he will become the good player his performances suggest.
Wisdom and Suso have also shown hope for the future.
Rodgers can be credited with giving debuts to Wisdom and Suso and giving more playing time to Sterling and Shelvey but these 4 apart, I fail to see any signs the club has progressed or will progress under him.
All the key areas from the goalkeeper to the striking department bar Suarez have regressed in the last 6 months.
Rodgers Liverpool stint has more echoes of his Reading Tenure than the supposed brilliant Swansea of last season where his stock rose in FSG eyes after he beat Liverpool so I wonder what they think of Steve Clarke after he beat LFC 3-0.
Swansea finished on 47 points which is only 7 points above 40points the usuall drop zone.
Rodgers is also possibly one of the worst performers of all the new managers who started the season in the premier league especially if you look at the budgets involved for example with West Brom and Norwich.

    ReplyDelete
  99. but i dont really want Liverpool to be the experimental club that gets relegated .....we signed rafa for what he achieved at Valencia( 2 titles) not what he achieved before it would be the equivalent of Swansea winning two titles under rogers and us then signing him big difference me thinks

    ReplyDelete
  100. Always excuses aren't there?

This is Rafa in his first four years vs Rodgers in his first four years.

    Plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  101. so what are you suggesting that the step up was too early... btw he might not have the potential to be as good as Rafa, so far he hasn't really shown it

    ReplyDelete
  102. here you have Michael Laudrup stats as a manager
    Brøndby 2002 2006 132 76 31 25 57.58
    Getafe 2007 2008 59 25 15 19 42.37
    Spartak Moscow 2008 2009 14 4 4 6 28.57
    Mallorca 2010 2011 42 13 9 20 30.95
    Swansea City 2012Pres 24 11 7 6 45.83
    Total 271 129 66 76 47.60

there is no revelevance to compare stats between managers, the truth is when they have to step up they need to do it as the chance might not come again

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well...I remember when we said KK should be giving atleast another season. He had an agreement with DIAME allready,D iame almost single-handedly finished us. What we needed was a world class striker.KK had his plans...FSG refused to support him! Lets see anyway

    ReplyDelete
  104. The stats point to 2 things: firstly, that some managers do need time to mature and get consistently good results. Right now we don't know which way BR will go. Secondly, that Rafa had a good win percentage in the 4 years prior to joining Liverpool. This is the key thing that I think Mali is alluding to. Should FSG have hired BR, which is tantamount to an experiment, or should we have been looking at a proven manager, which Benitez was prior to joining Liverpool?

Unfortunately, one experiment spawns another. Much in the same way that BR is an experiment, so are his transfer dealings - all experiments, no proven successes. Admittedly, I did not like the majority of KD's buys, but they had achieved some measure of success at their former clubs which is what prompted KD to buy them.

It shows how low Liverpool have sunk that we can no longer afford/attract proven successes.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hatred of Rafa must give you sleepless nights.....you love telling tales and you've started believing em your self...

If Rafa quit extremadua in 97/98 because they were relegated...then whose stats have you put up for 98/99.

This is the great mans stats

    Extremadura

    1 July 1997 to 30 June 1999 40.00% wins

    Tenerife

    19 July 2000 To 30 June 2001 50.00% wins

    Valencia

    1 July 2001 to 14 June 2004 53.37% wins

    Liverpool

    16 June 2004 to 3 June 2010 55.43% wins

    Internazionale

    10 June 2010 to 23 December 2010 48.00% wins

    Chelsea

    21 November 2012 to Present 60.00% wins

    ANY MORE TALES....

    ReplyDelete
  106. I never understood why we were looking at Allen when what we desperately needed was an attacking midfielder, hence why BR wanted Siggurdsson before anyone else.

Is it not obvious that BR is unable to attract great players? Dembele, whilst being exceptionally talented, isn't even world class, but I doubt Rodgers had any chance of bringing him to Anfield. Once Siggurdsson decided to look the other way, I knew that we would have trouble attracting players.

This is our fate, to buy players that BR has coached before, or that no-one else really wants because they realise such players do not have the requisite quality to make a difference to their squad.

    No.
    No.
    and no.

What makes you think FSG will ever approach Rafa?

    Time to move on.

    Can you move on?

Are you willing to move on?

    Will you ever move on?

What is it going to take for you to move on?

When will you be moving on?

How many times do you need to be told to...

  117. It's the same thing I've been saying for an age now - our team is so physically poor and has little margin for error due to the lack of pace and power throughout the team to make up for days when technical aspects of our game are failing.

Forget Tom Ince (even though I do like him, he is just a prospect at this point and not first team quality - especially with Sturridge arriving to play the same rwf role); along with Sturridge we need to pick up a powerful centre-forward, a la Ba, and a powerful centre-mid, a la Diame/Moussa Sissoko, while the opportunity is there to pick them up on the cheap.

Then we'd 'just' need a stronger & faster centre-back than Agger/Skrtel and a new GK in the summer to finally have the spine of the team sorted out again.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Shawcross would look poor in Rodgers' team because he is a poor player.

Ok, poor may be a little harsh, but he is definitely not 'excellent'. Probably a little bit worse than Skrtel. And I've never particularly rated Skrtel either...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Nah, I wouldn't subject anyone to that kind of torture ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  120. I've made it clear for years that I don't rate Skrtel and would be happy to see him replaced.

It's only this year that I'm coming to the conclusion that Agger may never recapture the form of his early years though.

    ReplyDelete
  121. hey, I've never defended the Allen signing, even when everybody was pretending he was man of the match every game early on, just because he maintained a very high pass completion rate (without ever hurting the opposition).

Allen's value was never going to increase beyond £15m at Swansea, no matter how well he performed there, so I always felt we should've fixed the obvious holes in the team before making going back for such an expensive luxury signing (nevermind the fact that I was one of those convinced that we should've just held onto Aquilani if nobody wanted to fork out the cash necessary to buy him outright).

    ReplyDelete
  122. Too many average player's , with no desire or passion or the ability to play this Tiki- Taki style nonsense .When I think back to when I first started supporting Liverpool over 40 year's ago and the shamble's we are in now , it make's me want to pull my hair out!

    ReplyDelete
  123. This is starting from scratch as far as I'm concerned. No more excuses, it's time to get some proper players in and start getting results.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I wanted Dembele as soon as it became apparent that he might be available but was never particularly bothered about Dempsey.
I respect that Dempsey is a fighter, but we desperately needed more pace and power through the middle and more skill on the wings. Dempsey wouldn't have sorted those issues imo.

    ReplyDelete
  125. The players have the desire to play a certain way, just not the ability. Hence the folly of encouraging so much playing about at the back against teams that press against us, or our opening up the pitch so much with players incapable of getting back in time to prevent counter-attacks when we lose the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  126. What player's do we have now, that have the desire of say,Tommy Smith ,Emelyn Hughes,Souness,Beardsley,Phil Thompson, I could go on but you get the point,no matter what system it' still that passion that is not there for me,the only one that really show's it is Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Don't care if Rafa doesn't come back...as long as tika taka is kicked out head first....

there are quality managers out worthy of coming to Anfield as winners...who will take us up not down.

End of the line for tika taka.....sinking ship like the titanic and the delusional band ( you ) kept playing

    ReplyDelete
  128. Really don't think Sturridge will make much of a difference in terms of kickstarting us, given that even with fiery Suarez in the side, it makes little difference.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Rodgers is much like Hodgson in the way he's determined that his way is the only way. No other formation, no other style of play, not even trying to utilize the squad to its strengths, no plan B. His thinking isn't varied much and unless he changes that will eventually be the cause for his dismissal.

The only difference between them is that Rodgers can't say "the methods which have stood me in good stead for 35 years and made me one of the most respected coaches in Europe don’t suddenly work is very hard to believe".

    ReplyDelete
  130. You're a strange cat! If you want to ask the same question 5 times, you could as well post in capitals. I, personally, have nothing to move on from. I never wanted Benitez back, thus, my post is not about reappointing Benitez. Although, having witnessed our performances thus far this season, I am beginning to think RB would have been a better choice than BR!

My comment was with respect to Mali's point. That is, if FSG really wanted that top 4 spot, they should have gone for a proven manager - not necessarily Benitez. But no, with little understanding, knowledge and appreciation of the game, they put in place a manager who offers a club like Liverpool very little. They probably though they could recreate the Boston Red Sox miracle all over again, but it's patently obvious that that ain't never gonna happen.

With every day, Liverpool are falling further and further behind the competition and if this continues into next season, we will be spoken of casually in the same breath as teams like QPR & Reading. Our predicament epitomises a trilogy of failure: an inept owner, a manager out of his depth and a sub-standard squad. Can you tell me that either of these problems look like being rectified in the near future?

    ReplyDelete
  131. I fail to understand the outcry now about how we need rafa back? Is it because chelsea have him now and we are reminded of what he did for us in the past? The guy was sat at home when the king was appointed no one shouted for him then? He was still at home when Rodgers with no record whatsoever was appointed and no one gave a monkey's about him? instead we followed dave whelans' commentary on the martinez affair and allowed our name to be sullied by going for 2 managers with not a single acheivement to their name. The press leaked names of Klopp, Van gaal and Pep but it transpires we only wanted rodgers.

Rodgers does not have a clue that much is clear. He has a better transfer record than kenny's because he hasnt been allowed to spend. Allen, Borini, Sahin, Assaidi, are all failures. The latter 2 havent been seen since october.

We paid 15 million for allen when we had aqualiani who could easily have done the job instead we sold him for a couple of million. We lacked a tough midfielder and missed out on diame who had agreement signed because it was a kenny idea! We sold Bellamy, Kuyt rodrigues to get our wage bill down the fact that 2 of the 3 cost us nothing didnt occur to these people. IF getting the wage bill down why wasnt cole sold who had little or no input since he has been here?

Why is it that when BR messes up its "work in progress" but when kenny did it was a failure?

Once we sack BR - which we will because the fans wont take this shit for too much longer - are we going to go for Tony Pullis, Sam Allardyce or even Laudrap? FSG have sacrificed quality for yes men. For men who will be greatful just to sit in the LFC dugout.

Its no good saying we are playing good football when we have always played good football. But winning means everything to this club and if at least its not winning losing when we have given our utmost. On all fronts barring Enrique, Johnson and Suarez the rest have been found wanting. Sterling is a good player but he has no shot. There is no point beating a player if your shot at goal is limp and straight at the goalie or wide. Downing very rarely beats his man. Infact as soon as he comes across a defender he pauses and cuts inside - so by which definition is he a winger? Reina costs us a lot of points last season and will do again this season - he hasnt been the same since rafa left. Allen is ok for short passing but how many assists has he given us? or what happens when he is confronted by a diame/toure?

Its going to be a roller coaster season again but minus any trophy and probably 10th is the best we can hope for.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Brendan Rodgers is not a bad manager, but a "not bad manager" is not good enough for LFC. Where was Coates or Winsdom? Why Henderson never takes a proper chance to play with Lucas as a second DM? What is the meaning of using Suso and then Sterling (they both looked like hobbits and Huth like troll!!!) against Stoke's massive streghth? What is the meaning of the movement "Downing out - Cole (ex footballer) in"? Why Gerrard doesn't play behind Suarez? Where is Assaidi or Sahin? Are we a better team without Carroll, Kuyt, Maxi or Bellamy? Why Reina is a regular starter even when he is out of form? I don't know anymore guys... The only reason that I am not saying "Rodgers out" is because only small teams changing their manager every year!!! But already we are getting smaller and smaller... YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  133. Not sure what your point is. Rafa improved his numbers, only then was he brought to Liverpool. Had his win percentage not improved, had he not won La Liga and the UEFA Cup with Valencia, then we may never have seen him at Liverpool.

FSG brought Hodgson to us and now Rodgers. Question is, were these appointments based on ability or potential, what did they see in either of these two men? Or were they politically motivated? Yes men who would slash the wage bill, be non-confrontational and conformist, demand little from the owners from a financial standpoint, put up with nonsense and still smile for the camera.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I agree magic. the problem with a roller-coaster is the ultimate direction is down. Liverpool are currently owned by people who do not understand the game; have a chief exec who is virtually invisible; and a manager who has proved himeslf the master of the one-line media quote, but of little else.I've been a Liverppol fan since the mid 1960s. I now believe the club is in the biggest mess it has ever been. FSG have not replaced Hicks and Gillett with something better, just something different.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Many good points here. Would like to point out that there were many calling for Benitez' return (not me, however), but that was never gonna happen because he is high maintenance, both politically and financially. In Rodgers, they have someone they can mess about. Can you imagine how Dalglish or Benitez would have responded to the summer transfer fiasco?

    ReplyDelete
  136. the problem with our club mate is stability ,and negative fans, ferguson didint do nothing at man united for 5 years ,so get of the guys back at the end of the day these players are payed millions to play at the highest level ,and all have played stoke many times they know them selves they have to battle hard and they didnt , they all know what team they are playing for and therefore they should fight for that shirt , and to blame brendon rogers is a joke ,i dont think in any way he told the players just pass it around but dont fight for the ball ,get beaten in the air for the ball etc , funny enough other big clubs have lost this year to lower sides so because we are liverpool thats not supposed to happen lmao , you need a reality check if thats the case , we are a work in progress and until you see that all you perceive is negativity , people saying he should of played a different formation different playes is all just hypothical crap whos to say he played they way you couch managers did ,played a certain formation certain players like you all say he should fo and we still lost you would still blame him for a loss no matter what because you having nothing but negativity to display , maybe if liverpool supporters stayed positive , that i seriously hope ha meanges to turn our club ore the stoke game we were playing good football , but with out being clynical enough , and that was the story of last years season as well under kk , i seriously hope he manages to turn it around for us and we can climb the table and do well in teh fa cup and europa league , then again even if we won any of the last 2 mentioned theyre would still be so called liverpool supoorters not happy ynwa

    ReplyDelete
  137. we have had just as many chances at goal as the top teams in teh league so how the hell is that negative football , good on him for threatening players if they arent pulling theyre weight , no difference from what bob paisley or shanks would of done , just have to read ex players autobiography to realize that , if anything it makes a player realize he has to lift his game or he dont deserve to wear the shirt of liverpool ,he didnt have to do it at swansea because the expectations werent as high there at liverpool its different , no way in hell should players ever hang their heads thats just crap , and how is it brendan rogers responsibility to give them a decent striker and defensive midfielder , if the owners dont give him the money to do it specially when we wasted so much last year ? ,if every one here has the answers why dont use the do the job your selves , answer to that is because none of you could do it because your all couch managers who think watching us play makes yous all great mangers rofl

    ReplyDelete
  138. Firstly, the man is a liar. Threatening players is not the issue. He stated from the off that he keeps his counsel, why then is he airing these threats in public?

Secondly, do you never hang your head at work when things conspire against you? The players are human irrespective of how much they're paid, they have off days. Maybe they don't quite believe in Rodger's project and that is the issue.

Thirdly, if it's not the managers responsibility to strengthen the squad, who's is it? It's not mine. The manager moved on a lot of players in the summer, very foolishly without securing replacements (indeed the board let him down) - now himself, FSG and Liverpool are a laughing stock. Is that not Brendan's fault. Whilst I have little faith in FSG, in the summer, they provided the manager with £30M and in the upcoming window, there is £20M available, if rumours are to be believed - £50M!!!. Diame was available on a free and prepared to come to Anfield. BR spent £11M on a forward who struggles to score (Borini), £3M on a winger who he doesn't play (Assaidi), and lets not mention Allen - £15M! What does he do? He would have done well to put that money towards the purchase of one world-class player. Oh, he's had money!

Are you happy with what you see? Are you happy with our tactics and transfer activity?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Rodgers:

'"That is what is going to take a bit of time. I always say it's like a good meal - I'm not a great cook but a good meal takes a wee bit of time but also to offer a good meal you need good ingredients.

"That is something we will do over time and hopefully put a nice meal on the table for supporters"'

wtf. Enough with the nauseating comments, Rodgers!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Take the armband off Gerrard.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Rodgers has not been slapped with a top 4 ultimatum. Appointing Rodgers was not about what they want this season. They told all the fans that it was a long term decision. If we have not finished in the top four since 08/09 then what exactly was expected this season? Clearly this appointment was not about what Rodgers had on his CV. FSG also interviewed Martinez, were after Klopp and probably Laudrup too. Clearly Rodgers has not been appointed for one season.

Secondly, they do not want Rafa at Anfield. I do not have to sit here and explain why. If they wanted him they would have approached him on two occasions which they did not. Rafa publicly made his unhappiness known about never being approached by FSG so that is another clear indication that Rafa is not Anfield bound ever again. If FSG wanted him they would have hired him back when they got rid of Hodgson so that is end game for Rafa. Turn the page and start a new chapter.

Rodgers is here for three seasons. He will be given funds to make this squad his own. I will give him that time just like Evans, Houllier and Rafa had.

Unfortunately I cannot predict the future but I will show my support for Rodgers as I want him to succeed. If Rodgers succeeds then LFC succeeds. Would we be sitting in 10th if Suarez had someone else helping him out on a regular basis with goals?

  142. Totally an amateur tactical plan was designed and applied against Stoke by Brendan Rodgers and a totally unacceptable performance from the players. Liverpool is going nowhere with such poor designed and applied tactical plans and with such unacceptable performances. Liverpool is in the need for a master tactician manager and for quality/world-class players who will have the tactical and technical nous, ability and characteristics to coach and play for a club of this status. Anything else will be said are simply words for consumption. So, under Brendan Rodgers we the LFC fans must be supplied with daisies and before each game to be removing a petal of it and start guessing, “today we will lose, today we will not lose, etc!”

  143. The amount of times you have cried for Rafa to come back suggests that you do care about him coming back. You are in denial.

    ReplyDelete
  144. You're right on a number of points. I too want Liverpool to do well, but in much the same way that many people don't think Downing was a good acquisition, I don't think Rodgers was either. Furthermore, neither of them have done anyhing to convince me otherwise.

In fact, much of what BR does and says worries me. For me, it's not just about results, it's about progress. Moving from Hodgson to Dalglish was progress, there was a better style of play, more confidence, the players brought in suited what KD wanted to achieve, and the results followed. (Admittedly Hodgson wasn't given much of a budget, but that may have been a blessing in disguise).

Reportedly, FSG has relaxed the criteria for success (and so have many of the fans) because they realise how difficult that top 4 spot is to achieve. However, they do want to see progress. Unless Rodgers starts making better decisions in the transfer market and on the pitch, he won't see out that 3 yr period because Liverpool will continue to decline.

  146. in every good partnership you have a leader niether one of them takes up that position they just mull on together one of them as to step up as a mini captain and take charge of the defence

  147. sat on bench ,common m8 its qpr today he will start garanteed

  148. Rodgers has had one transfer window so far.

How many years has the club been riddled with BS signings? You can go back 20 years and see how much rubbish players have been bought to the club.

Unless you somehow have the power to take control of Henry or Werners minds then Rodgers will be going nowhere so suck it up or go cry about it in the corner. Your choice.

Oh hold on, you are already crying about it. Shame.

    ReplyDelete
  149. just one thing ,why has there been no competition of other clubs for any of our signings under rodgers, could it be that the other managers did not rate them

    ReplyDelete
  150. Why the insults, redforlife, you seem upset?

One transfer window and only average players acquired. Allen was not a necessity. A forward sent on loan without a replacement, followed by reports of a thin squad. A shambles of FSG's and Rodgers' own making.

All clubs make poor signings. There would, however, be more support for Rodgers if he had addressed our deficiencies ie our inability to score goals. Everyone, including yourself, knows this was the major sticking point last term. Should have been done in the summer knowing that the winter transfer window is a notoriously difficult period. Other teams managed to do it - even teams with new managers.

    ReplyDelete
  151. And where are Newcastle now after claims that their previous transfer window made ours look like lucky packet?

I am not even going to argue with you anymore as you cannot see further than your nose.

All you are interested in is in the now. The now was never going to be fixed in half a season.

So keep up with your moaning and your cyclops vision.

I do not have the energy to repeat myself anymore.

Go back to your corner and weep.

    ReplyDelete
  152. You're too funny! How old are you? And who cares about Newcastle?

Every window is an opportunity to strengthen. Opportunity missed!

No-one expects instant results, least of all me, but are we moving forward? Or are we hearing that we are moving forward?

  153. if i hang my head at work and dont do my job properly im looking for a new job thats just a cop out , they are paye din a week what some peopel that watch from the stands earn in a year so yeah they should bust their balls no matter what , borini hasnt got going yet and has been injured for months whos to say he wont find his feet and start banging teh goals in , oh thats right poeople like you and your negative rants , we go out and buy a world class player whos to say he will adapt straight away to the english game and struggle ,then people like you will complain again blaming the manager for spending millions on a world class player that cant score ,i am happy with what im seeing i see a work in progress , i have watched us dominate games but struggle in putting the ball in the net something that we even struggle last year in doing , assaidi has a knee injury and if he did play and we werent winning ud blame rogers for playing him as well no doubt ,face facts no matter what rogers does half of the supporters on here wont like it , stability is whatg we need and patience simple other wise go support a team that just wins every week because at this time for us it aint going to happen

    ReplyDelete
  154. funny enough everton didint bully us out of the game and we should of won that game , stoke are the only team thats bullied us this year physically and beaten us

    ReplyDelete
  155. Gossyboy you have solved it mate ...WOW negitive fans are the reason we are sitting in 10th with the same points as Roy had when he was fired , 9 points behind KK last year , ONLY 1 did we have a back to back win , having not won a game in our first 5 .....Negitive Fans ..... neva know that 1

    ReplyDelete
  156. I still support Rodgers though he has much to learn and seemingly no plan B but the rebuilding of this team will take years.
Dalglish seen to that by his awful use of available funds the club cannot keep sacking managers and stability starts sometime i hope it is now.
We need to support Rodgers and the useless Brits it looks like he wants to buy no matter how much it hurts.

    ReplyDelete
  157. SPOT ON Banoog ...pls read what i said ....BrenDOM is good at playing the martyr , he had the money , michu was bought for 2 mill soo there were top players out there ...he just went on an ego trip on allen cuz he talked his way into the managers job at Liverpool WOW ...talk about projects and time ....well look at AVB and CLARKE AND LAUDRUP all better than him

    ReplyDelete
  158. Gilstrap you are 100 % correct we draw twice i think last year and we just couldnt score past their wall but they never bullied us .... People must understand this team has become poorer than what we had last season , how is this taking us forward , worst defensive record than last year and didnt fix up the one problem we had scoring , infact only left us with 1 striker ??? joke

    ReplyDelete
  159. 100 % gilstrap we should NOT BE aTRAINING CLUB for WANNA BE JOSE MOURINOS , We are Liverpool guys , we need a manager with a record worthy of this club , and their were availible ...Rafa and AVB etc ..... REDFORLIFE as fans we should let the owners know that we expect a HIGH STANDARD and not accept anything that they throw at US ....Look at the Manc fans and the Arsnel or Chelsea fans .... Since when did we start to accept medioricty ......

  160. spot on woody i said this same thing and originalchan argued that his last part of the season  wasn't good enough....am sure BR has being magical, what other progress did we need other than what KK brought.
    1.europa 2.4th best defence 3.FA cup finals 4.Suarez 5.carling cup
i also argued that pep guardiola spent £46 (£116 pep and KK £70) more on wasteful signings in his first year.
SAF took Man U from 4th to 11th and 11th in his first 2 years and they let more goals in the net and scored less 18 less goals in his first year and 25 less in his second year ...he wasn't sacked. you dont break up with ur girl because she can't cook ,especially when she is making an effort, our main problem was goals and KK was keen on Defoe and Sessegnon and with the new spirit at the KOP Liverpool for once in a long time were looking attractive to sign for ,with defoe being benched by HR it was always going to be easy to snap him . ....now he is bagging the goals , if we had given KK the next year and Defoe and ssesegnon in the squad what will we be lacking ? KK used this same defence massively and he had results.now 18 year olds have become contract rebbles ..go do that in Barca or Man u.u wouldnt even get the bench again.

  161. redforlife are you related to BrenDOM ....seriously can U see the number for Fans that are upset with the way the club is heading or r u choosing to bury your head in the sand ... IF BRENDOM REALLY DID SOMETHING POSITIVE IN THE 5 MONTH THAT HES BEEN HERE , do you think we would be even having this agument REALLY DUDE .....im from S A and every Liverpool supporter here wants him axed cuz we all know what our problems that needed to be fixed last year was and HE DIDNT ...AND HE WAS THE MANAGER ...did you even read what i had to say about the points he did qrong since signing as manager .... Can you list me 4 things hes done right on the field of play to make me believe hes gonna take us forward ...Can You ?? will YOU ??? or are you not gonna reply ?? lets see and dont get me that crap about playing youth Liverpool had that long before BrenDOM , Macca , Fowler < Rush < Owen < last year KK and Clarke played Flannagen < kelly , Wisdom and KK give his debut to Sterling ....Rafa brought in Sterling and Suso ......So now please give me 4 things that BrenDOM has done that we must belive that hes gonna take us foward .............. I bet you wont answer

    ReplyDelete
  162. i really lost it the day KK was sacked ...were was REDFORLIFE that day protesting saying the manager must be given time ....KK was a legend and the likes of Saurez came to Liverpool and he and Clarke WOULD have given us TOP 4 this year .....Hendry and FSG must look like FOOLs now , they cut their nose to spite their face ...as fans we going to suffer for BrenDOMS taking us backward but THEY are gonna looose HUGH MONEY when they discover that they show that read " the emporers new clothes "cus they getting conned by Ayre and BrenDOM

  163. Patrick Apea-Danquah2:39 pm, December 30, 2012

i told my GF that i will name our kid KD cos of the new light he brought to liverpool for once we were looking attractive in every way and for Pizza sacks all we needed was a striker ...one of the reasons y our defence is under performing , though KD used them very well(the same set) is because of the poor midfield and strike force ,it leaves them scared psychologically. ooo my Liverpool.

  166. F%#&#^ he makes me Vomit everytime he speaks cuz its utter shite ...Guys this is NOT the LIVERPOOL WAY ...KK knew the Liverpool way , this guy is a Car salesman at best .......

    ReplyDelete
  167. aye - but for me i dont think benitez would have allowed commolli into the club. How disrespectful is it that KK a legend as a manager has to contend with a dunce as director of football and BR gets a free reign?

Benitez may have been high maintenance but he knew that if he the club was unsuccessful it would reflect badly on him - and it showed he perhaps cared too much. There is no way FSG will bring him back and i doubt very much if chelsea will let him go!  Benitez has a man who has the pockets to back him!

The reason fans reminisce is the buzz of being linked with the biggest names in football. There is no bigger dampener than finding us linked with Sturridge or ince -especially as chelsea are selling us sturridge and themselves trying to get BA!

I am flabbergasted - i think we will go a few further steps back - until the day some russian or arab buys the yanks out!

We have been on the wrong path ever since moores pocketed a few extra million and sold us to the first pair of yanks instead of the dubai consortium. Imagine for one moment they had come in with petro dollars - we'd have had a fair few titles by now. Shows how much interest moores had for liverpool Fc!

  168. Forget about KD he ruined Liverpool by spending 83 mil on Carroll, Downing, Hendersen and Adam....

    ReplyDelete
  169. With 83 mil Liverpool could have signed Aguero, Mata and Yahya Toure in 2011/2012...but too bad they are not English or British in the eys of KD!!!
