Deluded? Boss slaps €30m price tag on exciting attacker scouted by LFC...

Palermo President Mauricio Zamparini has slapped a ridiculously inflated price tag on Liverpool target Josip Iličić.

In an interview with Radio Radio yesterday, Zamparini accepted that Ilicic is 'not at the top of his game' right now, but insisted that the 24-year old 'will not move for a couple of years. He added:

"We must not sell our players.

"I would not give Iličić away, not even for €30 million.

"For the next year I want to build a very strong team and Iličić will stay with us"

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Slovenian attacker several times over the last year. The club sent scouts to watch him play in October, and last month, Amir Ruznic - Iličić's Agent - responded to rumours about a January move to Anfield. He told TMW:

"What about Liverpool? I have read something in the newspapers, but I know no more. About a possible transfer in January? I don't think it's a deal for the winter market."

Zamparini has a reputation as a tough negotiator, especially when dealing with rich clubs; indeed, recently, he forced Paris Saint Germain to pay £34.3 million for Argentine star Javier Pastore.

Having said that, I think it's safe to assume that a €25-€30+ price tag for Ilicic is wildly optimistic.

  5. Yea your right we only have 3 million thats why we're spending 16M on Sturridge & Ince, and plotting 15M bid for Butland.

  6. Don't talk rubbish.... If are strings are "tight" at the moment and we are spending about 20 million in January maybe more.... And it's goner get loosened in the summer then we have money. In the summer we spent money aswell...

  12. Definitely agree with that.

Even without watching all the games across Europe (and the world!) as our team of scouts are supposed to be doing, I could EASILY come up with a bunch of superior targets to what we pick up every year, and while staying within the same budget.

  16. You should have looked more closely at the other 99% of his shots that swerved miles away from the goalmouth.

  17. jaimie just a few things 1 were not a rich club 2 wildley optimistic valuation ,where lfc thats what we do best ,i mean the last two deals we have done with italian clubs ,have hardly been value for money ;-)

  18. Unfortunately, since we spent ridiculous amounts of money on Downing, Henderson, Carroll etc, other clubs now believe we have money to burn. One thing leads to another...

  19. The 15m have been reported almost everywhere as Birmingham's chairman has mentioned that amount.

  23. It's called 'the January window'.
The optimism is not in getting 30 million for him, it's the dissuading suitors from buying. They want to keep him. Only desperate, naive clubs buy in January.
At this time of the season, any player will cost five times what they'd cost in a summer window.
We get stung because the owners believe what they see on youtube.

  26. LFC must continue to maintain thier policy....Sometimes high profile players we can sign with bargain price or loan condition. Please prefer young talent with good potential to be shining soon.LFC much better seriously finding Steven Gerrard replacement.Leandro Damiao, Dries Merten, Christian Erikson and Tello is the list WANTED to joining LFC.We to add more Luis Suarez to reduce burden goal scoring.Only Suarez having high quality player of striker for LFC, others players never function very well and effective.Downing, Henderson and Joe Cole is underperforming players but still been using to playing for LFC.Suso and Sterling now look like drop the form maybe never satisfied salary issue yet.Shelvey and Coates much better for CDM but playing for wrong position.
