£20m Bayern star admits: I will not ignore 'good offers'. Get in there, Brendan!

Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Müller has hinted that he could be open to a transfer away from the German giants at some point in the near future, and if Liverpool fail to keep Nuri Sahin next summer, perhaps Brendan Rodgers should take a look at the German international as a potential replacement...?

Liverpool were linked with a move for the midfielder in April 2012, and in a recent interview with Der Spiegel, Müller - who has amassed 37 caps for the German national team - magazine, insisted that he is 'fully focused' on Bayern at the moment, but admitted that a move away appeals to him. He explained:

"It's still a fact that I will not ignore good offers from other teams. There is no doubt.

"I very much know my status, both nationally and internationally."

With 7 goals and 5 assists in 10 games, £20m-rated Müller is on fire for Bayern this season, and if he's open to offers then Liverpool should (IMO) definitely take a look at him as a future transfer target.

The 23-year old is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2015.

Worth pursuing?

  1. Would love him but FSG wouldn`t pay the money for him, so this storys another none starter unfortunately.

  2. He plays for a big club that qualifies for the CL ever year and usually finishes in the top two of its league. When he states that he is open for good offers he probably doesn't think about us, sad as it is. If he leaves Bayern it would rather be for a club like Barcelona or Real Madrid, maybe even one of the Italian giants, possibly one of Man City or Chelsea as they pay obscene wages. Everything else would rather be a step backwards for him.

  3. A true football player would fight for starting place than his wages. He wont get that in real madrid or any bigmegacash success club.

  4. I think he should be the one were buying. if we got the money,he would be the one to replace torres ,then suarez could create many things and not having the pressure he has now. we really need a prolific striker,...like NOW!!!

  5. Pffft. No chance. Very good player. Love how he gets the job done, in whichever role he plays in.

  6. I don't FSG pouring out enough money to sign players of his caliber TBH.

  7. Maybe not now, but if the club qualifies for the CL next season, I can see that changing. After all, FSG are not stupid; once LFC get back into the CL they will want the club to stay there (as it means more money for them), and the only way to do that is to buy top quality players to maintain things. Plus, by the time LFC get back into the CL, Gerrard will probably be on his last legs (or retired), and in need of replacement, and a top class player will be needed, not some makeweight.

  8. Why does everyone keep saying FSG wont put up the money for players like this. Is it because they wouldnt pay for Dempsey. Im assuming that they didnt see the value in a 29-30 year old, and he hasnt exactly lit the Premier League up so far, so maybe they were right.
Muller is only 23 so has at least 7-8 good years in him. He would be a very good investment. For me £20 million for him is a good price, if he eventually cost that.
But I dont see why Muller would come to Liverpool, but you never know.

  9. Agree, Anteater, but looking forward, things might change if LFC get back into the CL. Muller will probably stay at Bayern for another 2-3 years, and by that time, we'll hopefully be back in the CL, which would make a move more likely.

  11. Very good player welcome to lfc YNWA

  12. A winger for when a central midfielder leaves? Interesting...I don't think there's a bigger whinger in the world of football than Muller and that is including CRonaldo and Robben. If you think Suarez is a diver and feel compelled to write a blog about that every week, prepare for a lot of late nights should we sign Muller. Overrated player, horrible attitude and not at all in the position we need to improve.

  13. How do you know FSG won't pay the money for him? Do you have a beeline to the owners?

  14. This^^^^^is what I'm talking about!

  15. I know that he somehow manages to pick up good stats, but I've never been particularly impressed watching Muller.
Then again, I was never really impressed by Kuyt either (who Muller probably most reminds me of), and apparently he was a legend...

  16. The meaning of a true footballer died several years ago unfortunately.

  17. First of all FdotM is right. Furthermore we would be a step down for him right now and he plays for a club he has been with for 12 years. Why would he join us, even if he is a 'true football player'.

  18. To be honest, Jaimie, i think that's a very big IF. We have a long way to go to qualify for the CL again.

  19. You are right. FSG were willing to pay for Downing, Carroll, Henderson.

  20. He is a forward. Why isn't that a position we need to strengthen?

  21. hes playing on the right wing most of the time, he can play CAM and striker too. Nice crosses, a good shot, fast technically strong, and what makes him unique is his tactical understanding, he knows how couter opponents ...
should defineately be one of our future targets, if we can manage to get in the CL anytime (maybe next season), FSG will do anything to stay in top 4. If we manage to fight back our place in the CL in the next 2-3 years we could probably get him :)

  22. Muller is simply functional, gets the job done in simple ways. He doesn't offer anything expansive or flair-like to get you off your feet, he is rather boring. But it is his tactical awareness, intelligence, movement and positioning on & off-the-ball that makes him so productive.

Him and Kroos together against Schalke was brilliant last month, combination of Kroos' dictating and Muller's movement (he came on as a sub) won them that game. Probably their (muller) player of the month for September. Surprised at how well Mandzukic has done for them. Seems a better fit than the frustrating (in terms of how un-involved he can be) Gomez.

  23. All legendary Liverpool players I think you will agree!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Even if FSG pay for him, will he even come to current LFC? I think not.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Absolutely. Their uselessness is legendary (though Henderson might still become at least a useful player).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yea, I will give Henderson the benefit of the doubt.... for now. To be fair Carroll could still be a good player, I just dont think it will be for Liverpool, he doesnt fit the style.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Agreed. Good player, yes, but not a top 4 player.

  28. I think all fans will be happy if Liverpool fc will go fishing Thomas Mueller from Bayern Munich because he is very amazing starlet. It is very worth to get this football aces like him.You wellcome to Anfield.Good target. He is my dream football idol have biggest potential to shining at the future. Good value for money if we get him.He is versatile player who can operate for Striker,Midfielder,Winger and Centre Defender Midfielder. Wooooow............

  29. I'd like to place a bet they wouldnt pay the money for him.

  30. Jaimie, you don't sign players after you are in CL, you sign players to get in CL. How on earth LFC will get into top 4 if we are planning to buy quality players after getting into CL? If you see in recent years teams spend a lot in order to compete for CL, its an investment. It will take a miracle to make profits even before you invest.

  31. no way in hell will Bayern sell Muller let alone Muller wanting to leave. Bayern has always been a dream destination for any footballer. The one of the best facilities in the world, world class medical staff, an almost guarantee CL spot. Plus an exposure toe the DFB which is a plus for any German-eligible player. Brinigng in Ozil, Khedira, Bender (et al.) will only make these young lads want to play in the same team.

  32. We're not as far off as everybody makes out - a couple of good signings (game-changers at centre forward and right forward/winger) and we're right back up there imo.

And no, good signings do not need to cost megabucks, and nor are they only restricted to signing in the summer only or only joining clubs already in the champions league

  33. From what I read Dempsey was handed a 3 year contract at £90k a week by Spurs which would've made him likely the top earner at the club when Gerrard & Carragher are eased out over the next couple of years, and at his age, there is no way I would've handed him that contract at LFC either.

I never thought that Dempsey was actually what Liverpool needed in the first place anyway, but that's another story.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah get in there Brendan! Great story!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Who cares if he is boring to watch, we just need someone who can get the ball in the back of the net. A goal always gets me of my feet when watching the games

  36. Our squad is so thin that I don't think adding two players makes us CL qualification contenders. You are right, our first eleven would look pretty good then, but we'd still have to play them 50, 60 games a season and hope they don't get injured/suspended.

It is hard to take, but there are quite a few teams ahead of us. Two additions to our squad won't change that. Man C and U, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea. Currently even Everton seem to have a more balanced squad than us, though in this case two additions might put us on, at least, a level playing field with them again.
